She followed his lead every step of the way. Love has to be about more than drunk hook-ups and kissing in the rain … right? After many failed attempts at rehab, Izzy Sundall moves to Oregon from Idaho to live with her aunt and uncle and work at their dog kennel. Fed up with disappointing her family, Izzy vows to never take another drink or sleep with another guy who doesn’t value her. Well, she … another guy who doesn’t value her. Well, she vows to try.
When she meets Duncan Fieri–clean cut CrossFit coach and former dog handler with the military police–Izzy is sure a good guy like him won’t look twice at a bad girl like her. But he does look at her. Duncan has been where Izzy’s at and he thinks they can help each other navigate the tricky landscape of addiction and falling in love.
That is, until Izzy screws up, because that’s what she does. But maybe this time she’ll find the strength to love herself enough to let Duncan love her too.
The Open Door Love Story novels can be read as standalones, but are best enjoyed when read in this order:

The characters in this book are both looking to make changes in their lives and hope to help each other through it. Duncan and Izzy both struggle with their own issues but those get worse before they can get better. They are a great couple but can’t seem to make choices that keep them together. It’s a different kind of romance but it was a good one.

This was a story I could relate to!
I work in an addiction departmentd and recognized many of the problems Izzy and Duncan struggled with. They seemed realistic to me. The shame, the disappointment they brought to family and friends, the daily battle against addiction and the realization that it will be there over and over again.
But also finding healthy friendships, the power of physical exertion during sports. And finding love, through trial and error.
A beautiful story with hope for happiness

I like this kind of story, looks very realistic.
To overcome any addiction is hard but having somebody by the side thru this journey makes easier.
That was Izzy situation.
Definitely recommended, storyline is very engaging and emotional.

Another excellent book by Ms. Wallace. This is only the second book that I have read by this author but both were so very, very good! It is almost impossible to open yourself up to love until you learn to love yourself as you are, flaws and all! As Izzy has to learn when she meets Duncan who has been where she is at and has successfully become everything she is not at that point in her life. A beautiful story-line with a message for all readers who may be feeling that they are in need of a bit of inspiration to take the necessary step towards beating their own demons and in the process learn to love themselves too.

The third book in the Open Door Love Story series a well written story that held my interest throughout. This is Izzy’s story of all the things she has to go through before she can find herself, also it is Duncan and Ryan’s story as she decides which man she will let into her life. I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Duncan and Izzy. She’s had a rough past, dealing with a drinking problem, the abandonment from her mom, witnessing a life changing event and low self-esteem. She’s currently living with her aunt and uncle trying to start over. When she meets Duncan at a bar then a CrossFit gym. He’s also struggling with his past but it’s trying to get on the right track. The two hit it off but are they really helping each other or making things worse. When a bad decision haunts both of them, it’s the wake up call they need to focus on themselves again.

This is a well written book with strong characters and a touching story. The author does a great job bringing out all the emotions as she takes Izzy on her road to recovery. She brings a realistic feel with her detailed and descriptive characters and moves the story fluidly , delivering a great read.

Life Lessons….

Izzy’s life is a complete and utter chaotic mess and the biggest problem is herself.
If there is a questionable choice or really bad decisions then she’s probably made it at one time or another.
Then you add friends and family to the mix and no matter how hard she tries things seem to all take a dramatic twist here or a turn there and then she’s back to square one.
And until Izzy learns to accept herself flaws and always she won’t find what she’s truly searching for until she does.

This is book three in The Open Door Love Story series and it is Izzy and Duncan’s story. Izzy and Duncan have both had there fair share of problems but where as Duncan has overcome his Izzy is still going through here but will Duncan be able tohelp her or is it to late. The characters and storyline pulls you in right from the first page and you find yourself turning the pages to see what would happen next and you are definitely not disappointed. Stacey Wallace has a unique way of writing a story that you are unable to put down even when it gets difficult and emotional and I definitely recommend you read this book and series and you will definitely not be disappointed as it is so addictive.
