Mackenzie Thomas is moving in with Nessa, Natalie and Elise after her break up with Paul Sanders after she caught him cheating on her. Now she is determined to focus on school and getting the internship she wants. Yet at the same time she is earning for a quick rebound and when she mentions it in front of the sexy British former roommate of Sanders he is all for it.
Pacey Ziglar has no problem being Mackenzie’s rebound as he can’t believe Sanders did something stupid enough to let her go. Yet everything in Pacey’s life is not going as well as he lets on and when his parents announce they are getting a divorce it throws him.
As Mackenzie and Pacey both struggle with the challenges they are facing will they let each other in or will their supposed “rebound” be too much?
This was such a great book with some great highs and some pretty sad lows.
I thought Mackenzie was a great character and unfortunately I never read the first book so I know something big happened that I missed and I will definitely going back to read it. Mackenzie was determined to move in with her life after her jerk ex Sanders who she had completely planned her life around. They had been together for so long and she deserved so much better than him. I knew that when she mentioned the rebound things were going to get good! I felt awful for everything that happened to Mackenzie at school and I am so glad that Karma came back!
Pacey was someone who had no allegiance to his former roommate after how he treated Mackenzie and I’m sure the accent helped! Pacey was someone that starts off with no worries but gradually you see how one thing seemed to uproot everything and everything snowballed from there. He went through so much as a child and I know personally how that can destroy a marriage. Yet Pacey didn’t want anyone else to know what he was going through and I did feel bad for him as he didn’t want to burden anyone and it almost cost him everything.
There was so much chemistry between Pacey and Mackenzie and of course you can figure out this is not going to be a simple rebound. Yet there were also unknowingly others involved and that came into play.
There were a few key moments that made you question how both characters were going to react and they definitely did hit some huge bumps! I was absolutely shocked at the end buy what happened and I was not expecting that at all!!
The very end made me happy and I can’t wait to see what’s next with Miles and Nessa!
An awesome, heart breaking, yet, heart warming romance with a real life flavor of secrets, exes, bullies, friends and love finding the way for MacKenzie and Pacey. Loved it!!
My Rebound is book two in the On My Own series. Mackenzie was in a relationship that started when she was 6 years old. She had planned to marry that boy but they ended up breaking up and if you read My One Night you know how that happened. Mind you it is explained in My Rebound as well so not to worry. In steps Pacey Ziglar to comfort Mackenzie and promising to be her rebound and low and behold, things get just a little bit more complicated. Mackenzie and Pacey’s story is sweet, hot, steamy, laughter inducing and I was brought to tears as well. There were twists that I was definitely not expecting. Totally loved it! Can’t wait for book 3 – My Next Play!
I thought this book was amazing! Mackenzie is the type of character that so many readers will be able to relate to. She has her plans and she has her goals and she knows where she’s going….right up until she doesn’t because…while you plan, life laughs. So yeah, if you’re like me you will feel for her. So, what’s a girl to do?? Don’t worry, she’s got a plan! LOL Honestly, I just loved this book. It was fun and sometimes funny, had a huge heart and was really quite moving. Pacey (who was all kinds of swoony) and Mackenzie kept me company on a wet, brisk day and they put a smile on my face, made my heart melt and had me feeling just a bit warmer by the time the book ended. What a truly delightful read! I’m independently posting an impartial review.
I knew I’d fall in love with Pacey and not just cause of his name 😉 Though he definitely lives up to his namesake. Snarky attitude with more to his story than anyone can possibly know. Though deep down he the one you’re going to want on your side, even as your rebound. Mackenzie is going to need that strength cause her whole perception of her future has blown up with one blow :/
Plans very rarely come to fruition as made. And Mackenzie finds this out the hard way. When her personal life implodes she accepts a rebound/support relationship with Pacey. Then when her college plans are ripped away she has him to help her figure things out. But they’re just friends, with benefits? Pacey is carrying secrets, true they’re just about him, shouldn’t he share with the people who care about him? As this tale is expounded from both POVs I could feel their feelings, remember the stresses of becoming adult, attempting to mold your life into the future you want, trying to control something that you can’t control. This is a buddy story, a falling in love story, a coming of age story, and a sexy poignant read.
Mackenzie and Pacey – this story was soooo good. Kenzie had just broken up with Sanders who she had been with since they were very young. She caught him having sex with someone else at a party to see what it was like. Mackenzie decided she needed a rebound guy and Pacey volunteered. They were borh attracted to each other, but fought admitting it. In the end, their friend Nessa was crushed as she thought she loved Pacey and he just hadn’t seen it. I really enjoyed visiting with the characters from the first book of the series and now we had a hint of what might happen with Nessa. I was very glad Mackenzie stood up to her math professor as he was very much a chauvenist. She didn’t need him after all.
Very good read. Couldn’t put it down.
I got this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review
Mackenzie has been through so much. Her and Sanders had been together since they were kids. Everyone assured they were the perfect couple. That was until Sanders decided to cheat on her while she was downstairs cleaning from a party. Now she’s moving into a house with 3 of her friends, and Sanders’ old roommates are helping.
Pacey is the Brit everyone loves. He’s helping with the move and offers to be Mackenzie’s rebound. It’s just supposed to be friends. The more they hang out, the more things change.
We learn so much about Pacey in this book. We also still got glimpses of all the other friends throughout, and I can’t wait to read more in this series!
Pacey is a flirt. Pacey is a nice guy. Pacey is sexy as sin. Pacey was supposed to help Mackenzie get over the betrayal by her ex. But as they get to know one another they grow ever closer and their rebound relationship becomes so much more. This is a sweet feel good story with undercurrents of academic misogyny.
There was a lot of different emotions packed into this book, and only a slight few of them I expected! Pacey and MacKenzie were a delight to read as they developed their relationship. “Just for fun” is always a great mantra to start a relationship, and then working through the indecision when it develops to more. The unexpected came from the emotional turmoil and the facets it came from, did not see that at all. Working through everything was a journey that had me glued to the pages and rooting for everyone involved! Fun, excitement, low drama and angst, an unexpected turn of events right before the end, and a satisfying and sweet ending <3
Mackenzie walked in on her boyfriend having a blow job by another girl that wasn’t her. Pacey wants to make sure Mackenzie is Ok & offered to be her rebound guy, but they wasn’t meant to call in love!
