My Rebound is the 2nd book in the On My Own series by Carrie Ann Ryan. This book is Pacey and Mackenzie. Carrie Ann introduced us to them in the Prequel & in Book 1.
Carrie Ann does a wonderful job with Pacey & Mackenzie’s story. She shows how you can survive when it looks like your world is falling apart. That you can take those pieces and build them into something new and stronger. Both have unusual events or circumstances happen that they didn’t expect. Which we all know life is good at throwing us for a curve ball every now and then. Instead of letting those things tear them apart, they lean on each other and their friends. They come out on the other side together and stronger. Loved watching them come together to as a couple. Loved how Carrie Ann had the characters from the other story be a part of this one. So, I am hoping this continues with the last 2 books as well. Thank you Carrie Ann Ryan for another wonderful story!!!!
My Rebound by Carrie Ann Ryan was a medium angsty friends to lovers story. This is my first read by Ms Ryan and despite this being the second book in the series, it was pretty easy to follow along. Overall, it was a really great read and I really enjoyed it! The story moved along pretty well and was very well written. The characters were endearing. We all have a friend like Mackenzie. A self-proclaimed nerd, geek, and dork that’s a super control freak that’s a little obsessive and slightly neurotic. Actually, I think that’s me. I’m the friend, lol. Mackenzie’s recent breakup has messed with her head, messed with her plan, and is making her feel more adrift than comfortable. Pacey is an all around good guy both likable and supportive. His more relaxed nature seems to balance her out. He’s been Mackenzie’s friend for a while and when she mentions she needs a rebound he selflessly (ha!) offers himself as tribute. Both Pacey and Mackenzie eventually end up struggling with the “rebound” label, especially when they become each other’s main support as they both go through new struggles. A great read and I look forward to Nessa and Miles story!

My Rebound, the name doesn’t do it justice.
The second book in the On My Own series by Carrie Ann Ryan, My Rebound is funny, spicy and so much fun to read. When meeting Mackenzie and Pacey in the first book; My One Night Stand, I couldn’t wait to get their story. Mackenzie just got out of a very long-term relationship with her ex, Sander and to be honest, I feel like she didn’t take it as hard as I thought she would. Nevertheless, Mackenzie is a fun character and I couldn’t wait to see how her story turned out.
Pacey is a friend of a friend, an ex-roommate of Sander’s and ready and willing to be Mackenzie’s rebound guy. At first, I wasn’t sure how his relationship was going to be with Mackenzie; but then, they were friends, they were nerding out over math together, laughing and having fun. Pacey gives off a major boy next store vibe and I am living for it! He’s just a nice guy, maybe a little rough around the edges, but a heart of gold beats inside.
Pacey and Mackenzie have the best chemistry and the most fun together, being alone for the first time in her life, Mackenzie is a little lost at first and then she does my favorite thing. She plans! Oh come on now! Who doesn’t love a planner girl? I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this book, it was funny and loving to read. C.A.R always knows how to write a book series. I’m very excited to see Tanner and Miles again! Fingers crossed.
I don’t have words to tell you how much I enjoyed this book. When I finished reading My one night, I wanted to know more about Mackenzie and Pacey. They were so wonderful characters I just craved for their stories I just didn’t imagine they’ll end up together.
Mackenzie is ‘making plan for every step’ kind of person. She has all her life planned, yet she is thrown into a situation where all her plans come to the ground and she is forced to forget about all her already planned life. She is forced to start living. She is such a strong female character, full of confidence and desire to sucess. I really loved her beautiful personality.
Pacey is the one who surprised me the most. When we meet him in the first book, he is a calm, ‘know it all’ person, who gives great advice. In the second book we get to know his life story which is pretty complicated. I loved his confidence and kind heart, but got pretty surprised that on the other hand he is a broken boy, looking for his own place in the world.
Honestly, I loved this book! This one has it all: it’s funny, has a great backside story, well written characters and in the end it’s quite moving. Mackenzie and Pacey are really the qutest couple ever, they will break your heart and peace it together at the same time. Can’t wait for the next one.
I loved Pacy and Mackenzie’s story. Book 1 in this series was awesome and book #2 was even better. So many things going on in this book, you will not be disappointed reading it. I am loving this series, Carrie Ann Ryan does not disappoint, she is an amazing author.
This is the 2nd book in this great series and is Mackenzie / Kenzie and Pacey’s story. Kenzie has had her whole life planned out to the “T” since childhood, however when fate destines a different path, she needs to revaluate her life. Kenzie caught Sanders her ex cheating on her and decides she needs a rebound. Pacey is an ex-roommate with Sanders, and he jumps to volunteer to be her rebound. The chemistry between these two is sizzling, and they have some challenges to overcome along the way. No spoilers: – this is a story that needs to be read, you will not be disappointed! This is a well written story which is fun, heartfelt, and love, with emotions, friendships, and is an entertaining and humorous read. I was intrigued throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend this talented authors’ work.
After that ending from the last book we have the continuation of Mackenzie’s story in this newest release that doesn’t disappoint. Pacey’s character is so swoon worthy, with his British accent and carefree way, no woman stands a chance with his charming ways. He gives Mackenzie a idea that turns out to be more than they expect. What happens when emotions and chemistry grows to so much more than the rebound? You need to one click to find out and trust me you won’t be disappointed.
On the heels of “My One Night” we pickup with our co-eds Mackenzie and Tanner. Their “friends first” mantra while Mackenzie is trying to pickup and replan her planned out life repeatedly stands in the way of these two. They are also dealing with a lot of college pressures (grades/classes/internship), personal problems (new living arrangements for both groups, major life changes for Tanner) and relationship baggage. This story was a good read for character development, but this book seems to be lighter on the heat than other CA books, but when it’s steamy…it’s HOT. Overall 4.5/5
All Pacey Ziglar has to do is open his mouth. That British accent just captivates the ladies. The way Ryan paints his character in words really brought this sweet, sexy Brit to life. Mackenzie’s life has been turned upside down. In the search for some new normal, Pacey offers to be her rebound. The thing is, these two have serious chemistry. What happens when this thing turns into more? In this book I learned some surprises about Pacey and circumstances happened to Mackenzie that I didn’t see coming. That girl has had a heap of junk piled on her in recent months. This story took me back to my college days. If you love Young Adult Romance, then I recommend you pick this book up! I advise reading book one in this series to get the most out of Pacey and Mackenzie’s story. 4 stars!
I really enjoyed Pacy and Mackenzie’s story. I have been waiting for this and Carrie Ann Ryan did not disappoint. This story has all the feels and I loved learning more about the other characters. Just because you have a plan doesn’t mean that life isn’t going to intervene to put you on your path to your destiny.
Mackenzie, still reeling from her split with Sanders and trying to buckle down on her studies, finds friendship with the girls and the guys. Especially Pacey as they have some classes together. What starts out as a planned rebound, quickly morphs into so much more. Pacey wasn’t looking for love, and as both of their worlds and plans begin to blow up he finds that being with Mackenzie is easy and safe. Sometimes love happens when you least expect it.
I can relate to Mackenzie. Being organized, having plans already set out, and needing the comfort of routine just seems normal to me. But when everything in her life changes, she is set adrift and finds it difficult to adapt. Pacey’s own secret is heartbreaking (no spoilers) and the way that she is able to help him overcome his own demon’s while he shows her a new future is perfect.
So glad Mackenzie finds her man after her cheating ex. Pacey is just brilliant. He is funny, smooth and sexy as ***. Mackenzie is strong, cute and easy to relate to. Their undeniable chemistry can not be contained as Mackenzie reestablishes who she is within herself and her friendship circle. It was real, raw and surfaces feeling we have all felt after the breakup with your first true love.
This second book in On My Own series was really good. After what happened to MacKenzie in the last book, she needed a rebound. Pacey was always nice and sweet to her. Then he gave her the option to be her rebound guy. They were perfect together. I really felt for her and all she went through. Sanders, her advisor, Hunter. She was dealing with so much. Then all the stuff Pacey dealt with as well family drama, his health issues, and Nessa. This book just kinda sucks you in and I couldn’t out it down. I can’t wait for Miles story next!
This was a new-to-me author who just blew me away with this book. It is the second in the series and I do wonder if I would have had a better feel for the story if I read the first book, but I did follow along easily. This book was so amazing, I was hooked from the very beginning with the Dawson’s Creek reference (Team Pacey Forever). Mackenzie had just ended a relationship she was in for years after he cheated and Pacey decides she needs a rebound. Their chemistry is on fire! They were really bad at this rebound thing because their feelings were evident from the beginning. Mackenzie has a lot of growth throughout this book. She is someone who plans and makes lists and has everything figured out, but in a short amount of time she loses her boyfriend who she thought she would marry and she loses her spot with her Professor which could derail her plans. Throughout the book she learns she can’t always have things planned out and she adapts to her new situation and learns to stand up for herself. Pacey has a secret that he has been keeping from everyone about his health and I really appreciated the mention of the bone marrow registry. Mackenzie is there for him through all of that and they grow even closer. Her ex Sanders tries to cause problems between Mackenzie and Pacey the main conflict comes from Pacey’s father and his revelations. It shatters Pacey and he has to figure out how it affects him and if it means he has to give up on Mackenzie. Pacey was the best part of the book, everything he did was swoony and made my heart melt. I adore this group of friends and will be looking forward to reading more. I highly recommend this book
I must have been living under a rock because this is my first read from this author. I really enjoyed it. I love the relationship between all the friends. Their lives did get a little complicated though. Pacey was just a really great guy and tried to be everything for his friends but it’s hard for him to put himself out there. Poor Mackenzie she just had a lot of things pushing her back but she didn’t let them get her down for long. I didn’t read the first book in this series so missed some information but it didn’t really effect the over all story line. I’m definitely looking forward to Miles and Nessa’s book.
This is the second book in the series and is full of emotions and drama. Mackenzie catches her boyfriend cheating, they have been together since they were kids and she thought they would always be together, now she has to rethink her future and figure out who she is. Pacey offers to be Mackenzie’s rebound so she can move forward and people will stop feeling sorry for her, he didn’t expect to fall so hard for her. This story is sweet but it also tackles some complex issues.
Carrie does it yet again with another fantastic read and series. You will love reading about Pacey and MacKenzie’s friends to lovers story. What happens when you fall for your sexy rebound guy who was only supposed to be a one night stand?
At the end of My One Night we saw Mackenzie’s heart shatter. In My Rebound it picks up right were My One Night left off. MacKenzie is reeling from what Sanders did and also learning her place with her new roommates. She feels like the replacement even though she knows they don’t see her as that. I didn’t see all the things with Pacey coming. That twist, well both of them in his story, were total surprises to me. I think what I like most about this book is that you could see MacKenzie grow with every chapter. Pacey too seemed to come more into his own as each page turned. I always love how Carrie Ann Ryan leads into the next book at the end of the current one, and well this is was prefect.
I was eagerly anticipating this book with the way the previous story ended and I have to say that this has become my favorite of the series. I love Mackenzie as a person and enjoyed watching her and Pacey banter as well as set the rules for their ‘rebound’. I also liked that we got to know so much more about Pacey and his background which came into play in this story. With this book, we are looking forward to setting up internships, unfortunately dealing with difficult professors, issues with our parents, the ladies’ relationships as roommates and a ‘possible’ relationship with Mackenzie and Pacey. I was glad that they were there for each other during the difficult times. I was shocked to say the least with the way Sanders was behaving, even though I don’t know what I expected from him and of course Hunter, his friend wasn’t behaving much better. This was such a great story and I have to say that I did not see the story heading in the direction it did and I was totally surprised. I want to talk about so much more, but you need to read this book. I did like the ending, and I am looking forward to seeing what happens with Miles and Nessa.
Another amazing book by Carrie Ann Ryan. Pacey and Mackenzie were absolutely delightful and relatable. They have definitely become some of my favorite characters from her world.
After finding her boyfriend cheating on her, Mackenzie is on her own for the first time. Being the helpful guy and flirt that he is, Pacey offers to be her rebound. The two have a chemistry that neither was expecting that would ignite once they get together.
I loved Pacey. He has this confident outer shell and would do anything for his friends. But once you peel away those layers, he’s a shy guy who’s a little bit broken. And I loved that about him. How he opened up to Mackenzie melted me. Mackenzie was also amazing. She’s a planner; and girl, same. Then her whole life gets turned upside down but Pacey is back there to put it right side up. And that incident we had at the end of the book had me screaming.
There are still two other books in the series and it’s going to be hard for Miles and Tanner to top Pacey in my eyes. The teaser we get at the end about Miles and Nessa was a big tease and I can’t wait to read their story next.
