My Rebound (On My Own book 2)
This book captures the uncertainties that come as a young adult . A reflection of the struggles of college student. The dynamics of roommates and friends.Pacey and Mackenzie start as friends helping friends, but turn into so much more. It was great so see them grow together, but also with the relationships around them.”This is about who you are and the choices you want to make. So, you better figure it out. Because if you don’t? You might not have anyone left to hurt, even by accident.”
I can not wait for My Next Play

My Rebound: On My Own Book 2
Welcome to book 2 of the On My Own series, My Rebound. This series is about young people learning to navigate adulthood during their college years. In book 2 we find that Mackenzie is trying to move on after her boyfriend from “the cradle” cheats on her. She moves in with 3 roommates who have recently suffered the loss of their roommate. So she feels like odd man out in her new house. She is super stressed, taking more than a full load of classes when she decides she needs a rebound from her Paul Sanders. Sanders was a roommate to Pacey. Pacey is a sexy thing with a british accent, and offers to be Mackenzie’s rebound.
True to life, nothing is ever as easy as you think it is going to be… cue school drama, family drama, roommate drama, and rebound drama. The way that Carrie Ann Ryan writes her characters makes you want them to win. She has the ability to bring her characters off the page and into your heart. In the end, Mackenzie and Pacey not only grow up, but also find their HEA.
4.5-stars!
My Rebound by Carrie Ann Ryan is the second book in the On My Own series and I loved it. Mackenzie is a woman with a plan and determination. But when her plans get blown up, what is a girl to do. Enter Pacey. Her rebound. Right? But as she learned the hard way, plans do not always go as planned. What happens when your rebound changes everything? A friends to lovers story that was fun, a bit angsty and steamy and cannot wait to see what comes next in the series.
Happy reading!
What a way to celebrate her 100th book. Sanders and Mackenzie had been together since the cradle they said, then she found him in his room in a compromising position. Mackenzie thought she had her life planned out and that one night destroyed everything. Mackenzie started spending her time with Pacey. She then asked Pacey to be her rebound and he agreed. Of course the more time they spent together the more their feelings developed. Carrie Ann also threw in a few surprises about Pacey and incident at the campus at the end of the book. Thank you for another great read!
My Rebound was such a fun read and a great addition to this series! Pacey and Mackenzie were very likable characters and I really enjoyed this group of friends. Mackenzie is a little geeky and a control freak while Pacey was more relaxed and laid back in general. Mackenzie is needing a rebound guy after her long-term boyfriend cheats and Pacey is up for the job. There is plenty of steam along with some laughs and somber moments in My Rebound, but definitely, a must-read book/series!
4 Stars … My Rebound (On My Own, 2) is a friends with benefits college romance that is told from the first-person point of view of Pacey and Mackenzie.

Mackenzie is looking for a rebound to help herself get over her ex who she caught cheating on her. While having a conversation with her friend Pacey, she mentions to him her plan and he offers to help her with her dilemma. One night together should allow them both to release some tension and move forward but too bad they fell for each other.

Pacey and Mackenzie’s story is full of secrets that just keep popping up at the most inopportune times which ends up turning out to be a good thing for Pacey and Mackenzie as they end up turning to each other for support which in turn helps enrich their connection and relationship. I am looking forward to more of this series and this group of friends.

Audio … Shane East and Emma Wilder were great choices for this story and the characters that they brought to life.
Mackenzie is trying to adjust to something new. Pacey makes an offer that may come back to bite him. While reading, I felt like I was doing a disservice to Pacey. I so wanted to hear a British accent from him but my mind only hears my own voice.
Although it’s been a long time since I’ve been in school, I think the author has done a good job at showing the reader how the characters were processing things. She shows how they’re still trying to figure things out. Then we have the awkwardness that some people have when they venture outside their comfort zone – I could picture what the character was feeling about themselves as well as others. Our author was equal in how a lot of her characters had issues instead of focusing on just one – makes it seem more believable.
I found myself gravitating more toward Pacey in this story. As I was reading, I felt everything would turn out all right for Mackenzie. But after what Pacey said at the beginning of the story, I had to see where this story was going to take him – not because I can’t do an accent. It was like a soap opera, and you know how addicting they can be, I had to know where his story was going. Plus, I had to make sure there were no cliffhanger endings. But there’s a twist so then I know my body’s not getting out of the chair anytime soon. Then I have the problem that this series isn’t over yet so I will try to wait patiently until the next book comes out.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
The second book in the On My Own series. Mackenzie and Pacey are friends. When Mackenzie’s longtime boyfriend and Pacey’s roommate cheats on her and destroys her future plans, Pacey offers to be her rebound since she’s never dated anyone other than her ex. What started out as a platonic relationship turns into feelings neither saw coming and ultimately find their HEA!
Carrie Ann does not disappoint; a truly wonderful story!
My Rebound is one that is full of heartache, plans, lists and set paths. However when it all falls apart there is nothing better than a rebound to take the focus away from all the heartbreak and gossip. Pacey and Mackenzie have a chemistry that you feel soul deep, something you didn’t feel when she was with Sanders. Their story is about walking a set path and then having to take a sharp right and learning to adjust. It is a story filled with passion, dilemmas, secrets, revelations and friendships. Their story will touch your heart and wraps itself tightly around you. It is at times highly emotional and inspirational all at the same time. A story that gives you hope, appreciation and love in every form. A beautiful story that will have you falling in love right along with Pacey and Mackenzie.
My Rebound carries another wonderfil match in the new series from Carrie Ann Ryan. This book has Pacey and MacKenzie thinking that they can define how their relationship or lack there of is going to go. Because that always works out well. They quickly find out that you can’t control love. I loved the wit and banter as these two were back and forth. It was a perfectly imperfect pairing.
While this is part of a series, it can stand on it’s own.
This is the second book in The On My Own series. This book picks up after the first book in the series. Mackenzie has broken up with Saunders after he cheated on her. She is now living with the girls and is trying to move on, but does not always feel she fits in now that her childhood sweetheart is gone. Pacey offers to be her rebound to help her move on. Neither expected to fall in love since it was just supposed to be a rebound. I liked the first book more, but that could have been because I was waiting for Dillon’s book. A definite read though!
Mackenzie and Pacey….wow, what a great ride!
After My One Night, Mackenzie moves in with the girls in a new house. After what Sander did to her, she needs a Rebound and who better than Pacey???
Great story!!
Can’t wait until Tanner’s book…ooo what fun that should be, until then we get to find out what’s Miles story & see how he and Nessa play.
Yay! Pacey and Mackenzie get their story! Mackenzie is still getting over her ex and the loss of her best friend. Aside from her roommates, Pacey has been there for her and she values his friendship, afraid to do anything to mess that up. She misses some aspects of being in a relationship and when she confides that to Pacey he has the perfect fix – himself! Pacey knows this could all blow up in his face, but he will do anything to help her, even when his own secrets could ruin everything. Such a great story, I loved it and can’t wait for the next one!
P.S. You NEED to listen to the Audio book for this!! Shane East’s voice will make you melt!!
Carrie Ann Ryan captures all the unharnessed angst and passion of her characters as they navigate their lives as new adults in Rebound!
When college students Mackenzie and Pacey confronted their attraction the last thing they expected was to blur their clear boundaries. This couple naturally gravitated to each other and it was easy to see why. Their similarities in finding comfort in their practical studies and predictability made their decision to enter into a no strings relationship seem to be a no brainer. The problem they ran up against is that emotions are anything but predictable and labels are not always accurate. Both Mackenzie and Pacey were in possession of big hearts to match their big intellects and the more time they spent together the more they realized that maybe their plan to remain detached was not as full proof as they thought.
This friend to lovers’ scenario was well devised with the build up of this couple’s friendship flaming their physical attraction. This writer gave a lot of introspection in her story and while there were more than enough dramatic events the real focus of this work was how Mackenzie and Pacey evolved as a couple and individually. The secondary cast were great catalysts in moving this pair in the direction they needed as well as being entertaining and intriguing in their own rights.
Carrie Ann Ryan saw clear to the hearts of her portrayals in Rebound even while they struggled to navigate the pressures of life and their new roles as adults. This author did a wonderful job of conveying the steep learning curve of commitment, sacrifices and partnership. Being in the now while coming to terms with the past and planning for the future was done extremely well. Carrie Ann Ryan gives a good argument that love follows its own rules in Rebound!
*I was given an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own. *
*While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone. *
I love Pacey! He was so very sweet and sexy at the same time. Always thinking about everyone else before himself. Poor Mackenzie is still reeling from a breakup that altered the way she saw her future. To top it off, she runs in to issues with her school internship and she feels her life spinning out of control. When Pacey offers to be her rebound, she jumps at the chance. They start out as just friends going out but it soon develops in to a real relationship. Things are going great until Pacey’s family situation changes the way he views his future. A violent attack has them both realizing that life is too short not to go after what you want. I loved the story, the characters and secondary characters. This was such an amazing story. Really looking forward to more about these friends!
Book 2 in this wonderful NA series focuses on Mackenzie and Pacey, but we also get plenty of appearances of their friends. The dynamics of the two groups have changed with the sad, unexpected passing of one of their close friends and Sanders cheating on Mackenzie. I was pleased that the boys dropped Sanders and didn’t try to defend or excuse his behavior. Mackenzie had a lot to process, and I really liked how genuine and relatable her struggle felt to find her place in this new reality and within both groups of friends, feeling like she’s usurping Corinne’s place, working hard to keep her studies and career on track, and trying not to fall for her rebound.
Pacey was a bit of a dark horse. He’s mysterious and more vulnerable than I had expected. Vulnerable men make such great romance heroes! I also loved how he respects Mackenzie’s strength and autonomy, being protective without being controlling.
One of the many things I like about this series is how well-rounded the characters are. Pacey and Mackenzie are so likable, a little flawed but aware and willing to learn and grow. That being said, there were a couple of hints dropped about the next couple and I’m more than ready!
MacKenzie had her life all mapped out. Gotta be careful about doing that. Thing is the boy in her plans changed up the plans and no longer in them. Now after that fiasco she has no plans but for college and fun. Being with Pacey for fun ignites friends to a different place. They both will keep you guessing so that turning the pages is a must to see if we guess right.
This story packs an emotional punch. Pacey tries to help Mackenzie after her breakup. Her ex is a right douche too. Seems secrets are falling out of the closet left and right. Each sends shock waves through this group of friends. The woes of college life, loss and relationships are finely woven into a great book. I received an advanced copy of this book and freely leave this honest review.
This book is all about Pacey and Mackenzie. Mackenzie was handed a shock at the end of My One Night, so though this is a stand-alone and can certainly be read without reading the first book in this series, you really get a bit more of the character building start by reading all of the books.
Mackenzie is a girl with a plan (seriously don’t mess with her plans!). Sadly, her plans keep getting ripped to shreds in front of her eyes.
Pacey has his own things to work through but wants to help Mackenzie shine like the bright start he sees her as.
Both are adamant about being just friends but clearly they are delusional, as everyone else is seeing some thing more.
I really enjoyed getting to know both of these characters in more depth. After reading My One Night I enjoyed these characters but there was so much more to discover in these pages. I saw the surface level of who they were before.
Carrie Ann Ryan certainly knows how to bring in the drama! These characters have a story to tell and I am so glad I was able to read it.
This is my kind of rebound! This is a delicious new adult series with friends to lovers vibes- and bonus points for giving me a hero named Pacey (yeh, my DC love is strong). We have that great new adult, everything is more dramatic angst (but not too much), and ample steam. The characters were likable and endearing- loved our geeky and quirky heroine as she tries to rebound from her long time BF cheating, and Pacey is a pretty yummy hero, if a bit elusive at first- laid back, understanding, and has some swoony moments. And together they have pretty great chemistry both as friends and lovers. Loved watching these two figure out they’re more than just a rebound- which turns out to be more complicated than either expected. This was a fun and sexy escape, and I’m excited to check out more from this series!
