My Rebound is the second book in the ON MY OWN Series by Carrie Ann Ryan and while it can be read as a standalone I would suggest reading it in the order of release since this series revolves around a group of friends and they will flow in and out of each of the books even if it isn’t theirs. This is Pacey Ziglar and Mackenzie Thomas’ story.
Pacey wasn’t in the plans Mackenzie set out for herself, she always pictured marrying longtime boyfriend Paul Sanders until their very public breakup now she doesn’t know what her future is going to look like. She is trying to adjust to so many new things, first the breakup, she is moving in with her friends Nessa, Natalie, and Elise, and she has to find a professor to be her advisor on her thesis. So when Pacey suggests a “Rebound” for each of them she goes for it, what’s not to like about the idea, he’s hot and they get along so friends with benefits and a no strings rebound sounds perfect….only what happens when she starts having feelings for him?
Pacey has always been a bit of a mystery to his friends, and we find out so much about him in this story. I really liked him and understood why he held himself back a bit. The connection between Pacey and Mackenzie was great, I really like them together.
This has a been a fun series and I cannot wait to read more of it. If you enjoy Steamy New Adult Contemporary Romances this is a series you will want to read, and if you love Friends-to-lovers or Opposites Attract Romances this is the book for you.
Happy Reading!!!
Great second book in this series.
Pacey and Mackenzie are both juniors in college with a very full work load. Pacey feels that this year he hurts all his friends, female and male, which is upsetting him, but there is nothing he could have done to change the situations. Changes are also happening in his family life. Mackenzie is a planner. Her life gets upturned with a breakup of a guy she thought she loved all her life. Plus, her plan for school is upturned, also. Pacey and Mackenzie decide to have a friendship rebound. She is very indecisive about the whole thing. This story is typical of college kids with all they have to endure with school and parties and friends and relationships. It’s very realistic and very challenging for the characters. I highly recommend this book.
I listened to this one on Audible. I loved this story, The rebound was great. The narration was stellar and the story was great. I can’t wait for the next in this series.
Mackenzie and Pacey omg can I just say readying this was definitely giving me Dawson’s Creek vibes and I loved it. Wow, this was a crazy realistic story and I was so glad to read their story. It was a beautiful story to read something that could easily happen in real life and I found myself wishing it was a movie or tv show. I cannot wait to see where this series goes from here.
I loved Pacey and Mackenzie so much. She had her whole future planned out what she was going to do and who she would be with. Then her boyfriend through a wrench in that plan. It also makes her doubt her friendship with the guys when were also his friends. But Pacey isn’t going to let her loose her friendships. He makes it clear to her that they are her friends and did not approve with what he did to her. Then as a bit of a joke he offers to be her rebound. She takes him up on the offer not thinking anything will come from it as she feels Pacey isn’t looking for forever. These two compliment each other so well. They will have to navigate some obstacles as well but together they are stronger. Great HEA and looking forward to the next in the series.
This book picks up shortly after the end of ‘My One Night’ and features Mackenzie and Pacey. What happens when you walk in on your boyfriend and catch him cheating?
Those long ago made plans start floating out the window, leaving Mackenzie wondering how to ‘create’ new plans, as she loves her plans and to-do lists.
Spring is here, and Mackenzie is looking for a rebound—here enters Pacey, friend, and all around nice guy (with a secret or two of his own).
What happens when both become more emotionally involved than they had planned?
The answer can be found within the pages of My Rebound.
I loved this book, and can’t wait for the next one, which focuses on Miles and Nessa. I like how Carrie Ann has spun such an interconnected world among her contemporary romance novels. While this is a stand-alone series, it is tied into her Montgomery Ink world via of Dillon (from My One Night) who is the younger brother introduced in the Fractured Connection series which branches off from the first book in the Montgomery Ink: Colorado Spring series.
Also what is nice—there is such a large world, that it doesn’t really matter where you enter, you don’t end up too confused—and there are plenty of books to binge on if you’re just starting out.
I give My Rebound five out of five stars
Now that is a rebound. Where can I get one of those rebounds. Mackenzie and Pacey, didn’t really see those two coming together based on book one. But their story and their adventure was some ride. Mackenzie and her plans. Plan all you want but nothing is guaranteed. Pacey’s plan to help her and be her rebound. Man did that also take a turn. The hits just kept coming with these two, comfort, drama, jealousy, illness and so much more.
Another good book in series. I can’t wait for the next book Miles.

This is the second book in the On My Own series, and my first read/listen by Carrie Anne Ryan.
My Rebound is a fun, sweet, sexy, passionate Friends to Lovers college romance with low drama and angst. I really enjoyed listening to Mackenzie and Pacey´s story.
Mackenzie Thomas thought she had her future all planned out, life, studies and the guy who was supposed to be her forever, but everything changes when she walks in on him cheating. From that moment, all she dreamed of and worked for is seemingly taken away from her. Thankfully, she has friends who stand by her and do everything to keep her spirits up, especially this one handsome Brit who may offer more than just friendship.
Pacey Ziglar is the perfect guy, kind, polite, handsome, sexy, the total dreamboat, but he is also her ex-boyfriend’s former roommate and has his own secrets, which he is reluctant to share. He offers Mackenzie to be her Rebound but will this Rebound become her forever?
I really enjoyed this story because it´s relatable. I can identify with Mackenzie a lot, as, like her, I am a planner and had similar experiences. Isn´t it funny sometimes how you find a story that pretty much resembles part of your own life?
This story is about facing unexpected challenges, welcoming change, overcoming insecurities, and about hope, love, and friendship. It reminds us that plans sometimes don’t go the way we want and that we just have to move on and make new ones, take a chance or go with the flow.
Shane East and Emma Wilder treat us to this aural delight. They are, as always, fantastic! There are a few moments they had me choke up! They are just great at setting the mood. I can listen to Shane any day,any time as his voice just makes me smile and swoon. I love listening to Emma because her male voice is a swoon fest all by itself.
I really enjoyed listening to My Rebound. An arrangement that starts between two friends that have taken an interest in one another after Mackenzie’s long-term relationship comes to an embarrassing end, and a proposition from Pacey sets the stage for him to be her rebound.
I felt the story had a great pace, didn’t feel rushed. I absolutely adore Emma Wilder, and every time I hear her male voice, I fall a little more in love with her. This is Shane East’s first audio for Carrie Ann, and he did a fantastic job bringing the heat to the steam scenes. Chapter 9 will be a favorite.
This book brought two lost souls together in the sweetest way possible.
It was only supposed to be one night but one night can lead to many more when the people fit like puzzle pieces
Mackenzi and Pacey make a really cute couple. I love them together.
Mackenzi and Pacey are collage kids working hard to make it through school. A collage friend lost her life and her friends are trying to move on without her. Pacey is missing his friend. Mackenzi is moving in the with the girls whose roommate passed away. Mackenzi is feeling like a 5th wheel in the house. Mackenzi and Pacey are getting really close to each other. Neither is ready for a relationship. Will Mackenzi and Pacey find love with one another? Can Mackenzi and Pacey have a relationship in the future?
Carrie Ann Ryan writes with such passion, that you can feel it. I love the emotion that comes from each character. I loved this book. I highly recommend this book.
My Rebound was Mackenzie and Pacey’s story. You first meet both characters in the first book of this series. Mackenzie is Sander’s girlfriend at first but something happens at the end of book 1, changing that. Mackenzie starts the new semester off living with a few girls you also meet in book 1. She is attracted to Pacey and you can tell Pacey feels the same but they keep dancing around each other until Mackenzie asks Pacey to be her rebound to get over Sanders. From there things evolve into something much more but Pacey has to get over some things in his own life and Mackenzie also has things she needs to overcome. The ending was sweet but there was some unexpected drama that added to the story but I wasn’t expecting that direction. This was a great book and I can’t wait to read more of this series.
Let’s start off with absolutely have loved Pacey from the moment we met him in My One Night. He’s a great friend and always tries to help everyone if possible.
Mackenzie has had her whole life planned out forever and I mean color coded and detailed. She doesn’t handle change well and her life has changed considerably in a short time. Her and Pacey have known each other since Sanders moved into the guys house but now Sanders is gone and she’s floundering but not because she’s alone but now her plans have to be rearranged but she knows she’s better off without the guy.
However Pacey hates seeing Mackenzie alone and feeling out of sorts he offers her the option to be her rebound. She thinks he’s kidding until he mentions it more than once. She wants and can use a friend and that definitely could be Pacey.
I’ve completely fell in love with this story it was beautiful complete with a HEA and can’t wait for Miles. These are standalone each deals with a different couple but better read in order to get the full picture.
I’m a sucker for a friends to lovers story and My Rebound hits everything I love!!
Mackenzie has had her whole life planned for as long as she can remember. From what college she would attend to the job she had to the man she would marry. Her planner has never failed her. Until her ex decides to throw her plans out the window. Add on the issue with her internship and it’s like her Life is spiraling out of control. All she needs is one night. One night of fun and of letting go. When the sweetest of men offered himself up, the way no way she would let herself refuse.
Pacey, I think I fell in love with him several times over throughout the course of the story. Sweet and sexy combined with this giving and chivalrous nature. His laid back and go with flow nature make him that much more likable. He’s one of those people that knows how to make someone feel good about themselves in a genuine way. Was he self-sacrificing when he offered himself up or was that his way in to something he didn’t even realize he wanted until he had it.
My Rebound was fun, sweet and sexy. I am not a huge fan of new adult romance due to the fact that they contain just too much angst for me however Carrie Ann Ryan has the perfect recipe of mixing just the right amount for making a good story. Pacey and Mackenzie are so different from each other they balance one another perfectly. We’re he’s laid-back and easy-going she’s got everything planned out and color-coded. They complement each other nicely and their chemistry is something that definitely works. I very much enjoyed seeing needs to come together even though they fought it they found their way.
I’m looking forward to see what Miss Ryan has in store for The rest of this tightknit group of friends.
Book 2 in On My Own series by Carrie Ann Ryan
Mackenzie is devastated in previous book when she finds her boyfriend cheating on her.
Mackenzie knows they guys in the house because she was dating a housemate and this is how she meets the women who are friends or girlfriend of the lads in house.
Pacey is a English/American student living with the lads and hates how Mackenzie has been treated and offers to be her rebound.
Neither of them expected more to come of this arrangement but special things happen very quickly between them.
I was sure how you get a English sounding man called Pacey (not a typical English name) but this is explain and I do love it.
I feel for Pacey in this book especially when I comes to unrequited love that I feel was slightly blamed on Pacey but he was a perfect gentleman and feel he did get blamed for things he didn’t do or encourage.
I usually listen to audiobook quite fast but to fully savour this book I listen to really slowly.
Shane East and Emma Wilder are one of the best narrators and I think this was a dual narration not a duet but at some points I wasn’t sure because the narration was just that good.
Absolutely love Carrie Ann Ryan you can not get the same pleasure, anguish, tears and heartbreak all in same book.
Mackenzie has had her whole life planned out from a very young age, but her whole world comes crashing down around her when she catches her boyfriend in a compromising position with another girl. Now, Mackenzie needs to figure out who she is and who she wants to be. Pacey’s own world is being turned upside down when he learns his parents are divorcing. Pacey is also shocked to learn his dad is having a baby with his mistress. Pacey has also been keeping a big secret from his roommates about his health. Pacey has been there for Mackenzie since the moment her world fell apart. Pacey suggests he be her rebound with no expectations. What happens when feelings get in the way of what was only supposed to be a rebound? How will Pacey’s friends and roommates react when he has a health scare? Will Pacey be there for Mackenzie when she needs him the most? Will Pacey and Mackenzie realize they are better together than apart? I absolutely loved My Rebound by Carrie Ann Ryan! Pacey and Mackenzie are a great couple who work together to overcome the issues they are each dealing with. My Rebound is a great book with twists and turns that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat. I would highly recommend getting My Rebound by Carrie Ann Ryan. I received and ARC copy of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.
Another great work by Carrie Ann Ryan
Life is what happens when you’re busy making plans. This is a true statement that come to fullfillment in My Rebound.
Makenzie has her entire life planned out in some pretty exacting detail. But that plan is derailed in a pretty spectacular way when her boyfriend is caught in a compromising position with another girl. Not only does it hurt but it rocks Makenzie to her core. She has to figure out what she’s going to do now and who she’s going to be without her planner and check lists firmly in hand.
Pacey has a plan to help her with that. But as had already been proven plans don’t always turn out the way we think they will. Fate sometimes has other plans for us. Because Pacey’s life gets turned upside down too, not only with Makenzie but with his parents.
These two will explore the changes in their worlds together and apart. It will take them figuring out their own feelings, wants and desires to figure out if there’s more to their friendship with benefits.
This is book 2 in the Own My Own series. A series about 20 somethings learning who they are while stepping fully into the adult world. It’s sexy and steamy and thought provoking, and for this 50 something brings me back to my own 20s and the joy and trepidation of those years of growth. It does NOT need to be read in order, although I HIGHLY recommend it for a richer experience.
This work has Carrie Ann’s typical flair of wit, wisdom, amazing character developement, and incredible world building. It’s worth every minute and penny to read it .
I love Carrie’s books and I love seeing Pacey and Mackenzie try to figure out and plan on how to be a rebound for a friend and try to stay just friends.
As we all know plans tend to fall apart and things don’t always go as we plan or think they should. Things do happen the way they are supposed to and sometimes you just have to let go.
Mackenzie’s boyfriend Sanders cheated on her. He was a roommate of Pacey. He moves out after Tanner beat him up. Mackenzie asks Pacey to be her rebound, but after a while, it feels like it’s not a rebound relationship anymore. Pacey has some medical issues, has to keep an eye on himself. Stress causes him to pass out when Mackenzie is with him, but she calls 911 and gets him to the hospital, he is okay. Mackenzie is having issues with her schooling, the professor she thought would be her advisor, picks another person. The boy in high school who beat her for valedictorian. That boy is facing expulsion from school, and blames Mackenzie for loosing his spot for an internship. He is mad and tells Mackenzie she will regret it. He hurts them, but they are ok. They save each others lives at the same time. They make up, and say 3 words to each other, and Mackenzie is glad she went with a rebound relationship.
The epilogue is about Miles and Nessa in the next book My Next Play.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was unprepared for this couple. Mackenzie was blind sided by Sander, she didn’t get the internship she expected and her world was blowing up around her. Pacey appears to have it together and wants to be a friend to her. When the two got together and it was so much more than they both expected and then we get to see inside Pacey’s world. I loved how this story played out because it was so unexpected and then for the shooting……… WOW just WOW!!!
