From New York Times bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes MY PEN IS HUGE, a Standalone Romantic Comedy.Dear Mr. Merrick, I quit. And since you’re obsessed with your stupid pen collection, I thought it appropriate to take the big one you love so much and write my resignation letter. Kiss your pen goodbye, big man!Because when I agreed to work for you—a hotshot journalist I’ve admired for years—no … for you—a hotshot journalist I’ve admired for years—no one told me that you had a secret life and that you’d bug my apartment, have someone killed, and make the moves on me just to test whether I’m serious about this job.
I mean, come on! What kind of boss does that? Yes, you’re ten degrees hotter than the sun, and you melt panties everywhere you go, but this “little intern” is done with your games.
From this day forward, consider me your mortal enemy, your biggest threat. Maybe your pen is huge, but my determination is bigger. See you on the battlefield, Mr. Big Pen.
Your ex-admirer,
Gisselle Walters

Oh my gosh, I loved this book! My Pen is Huge is my new favorite from the OHellNo series and outside of her Accidentally series, my new favorite Mimi book. The characters were fantastically fun to read, well developed and easily relatable. The pace of the story was perfect. The steam was off the charts and I think some of Mimi’s best schmexy times writing to date. I laughed, I cringed, I swooned, and I laughed some more.
This is book five in the Oh Hell No series, however it can be read as a stand-alone.
Gisselle Walters is twenty two years old, fresh out of college and ready to work as a journalist. Her professor told her about a job working as an assistant to Leland Merrick.
Leland Merrick is a World Renowned Journalist. Leland is a bit of a egotistical British asshat. Gisselle has always looked up to Leland, but after being around him will that change her mind about him?
Will Leland get over himself? Will Gisselle stop giving Leland her googly eyes? Will they be able to get over themselves and try at a relationship?
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
I loved this book. It was a great part of the series. I couldn’t stop laughing! I hope this series never ends! Where does Mimi Jean Pamfiloff come up with this stuff? I couldn’t put this book down, I stayed up all night to finish it. Can be read as stand alone but I enjoyed it better having read them in order.
Love LOVED it– the series just keeps getting better!
Laugh out loud funny at every turn, up and coming investigative reporter Giselle has landed an amazing internship with her idol, Leland Merrick. She shows up on her first day, and to say that Leland is nothing like she expected is the understatement of the century! Leland is a mysterious, arrogant, and gorgeous man with a lot of secrets and a code all his own. Giselle is strong-willed, independent, and fearless. She’s determined to forge her path with or without help from her infuriating boss-turned-nemesis.
This book presents viewpoints from both characters, and they are true to themselves in conversation with each other, ancillary characters, and themselves. I love it! Giselle’s thoughts are hilarious, and she comes across as smart, feisty, and determined…but still young/inexperienced (life-wise) to be believable. Leland has a British stiff-lip even in his own mind – PERFECT!
They fight their attraction and flaunt their differences at every turn, but they break down each other’s walls (in the most hilariously spectacular ways) to get to their HEA.
This is a stand-alone book with NO cliffhanger. There are passing references to characters from other books in the series but you don’t need to have read them to read this book (but really, you should because they are all excellent and very, very funny).
I think Leland Merrick might a new book boyfriend. I have so many but this sexy Brit sure does take the cake. Giselle is funny, smart, determined, a bit nerdy but strong. They definitely make the book shine in laughter, sexiness, smarts, quirkiness, and did I mention the lead his British. Mimi takes into their world and makes you not want to leave. This the 5th book in her Oh Hell No series and can be read as a standalone. Like all her work it’s addictive and you’ll fall in love with with this amazing, sassy woman with mind for the awesome named Mimi Jean Pamfiloff.
My Pen is Huge is the laugh out loud funny, fifth installment of Mimi Jean Pamfiloff’s OHellNo series. 22 year old Giselle Walters, lands her dream job thanks to a recommendation from her college professor as an assistant to one of the finest journalists of his time, 31 year old Leland Merrick. They instantly get off on the wrong foot, and Giselle finds herself fired in a humiliating manner within the day! What else can a woman scorned do except get even and beat the pompous journalist at his own game?
4.5 laugh out loud stars
This book made me laugh I loved it and all its craziness!!
Leland Merrick is wonderfully British, he is fearless in his quest for a big, mind blowing story. He’s also arrogant, cocky, chauvinistic and protective and he absolutely works alone. He certainly doesnt want or need an intern/assistant, quirky, brave, beautiful and crazy as she is. He holds a lot of tricks and secrets close to his chest, but has he just met his match in the sassy, feisty, determined to show him, Gisselle? Or is there more to Leland beneath his smart suit and huge pen?
I love Mimi Jean’s quirky humour, you never know what is coming next. There are laugh out loud moments, hot sexy times and an intriguing fast paced storyline that keeps you guessing until the end. Her writing always flows, keeping you turning the pages. I recommend this enemies to lovers rom com with a dose of suspense and craziness. I’m sure it will leave a smile on your face too!
This was a funny read right off the bat!
“I’m getting the impression that Merrick is not at all the suave British man with a quippy mouth he pretends to be.”
Gisselle Walters is excited when her college professor sets her as assistant to the journalistic icon, Leland Merrick. In spite of some of the negative rumours about, he’s a fearless journalist from whom she’s hoping to learn a lot. However, they get off on the wrong foot and he seems intent on making her so uncomfortable that she’ll quit. Throw in the fact that there’s some sizzling chemistry between them.
“Who does she think she’s fooling with her awkward little-nerd act? Anyone with eyes can see that she’s a bold, insanely attractive woman”
Leland Merrick works alone but somehow, his old friend has managed to saddle him with an assistant – or, an intern, as he insists. This beautiful, nerdy girl has no place in his life – either as his assistant or anything more. However, the more he tries to push her away for her own safety, the more determined she is to best him.
“He is a fantasy to look at, but being kissed by Leland Merrick is better than any dream. He’s sexy on steroids.”
This was such a fun read! Gisselle is awkward, funny, feisty and idealistic. I loved her go-getting attitude and her resourcefulness. Leland was a hoot! He’s definitely more than meets the eye – there’s a lot of depth to him in spite of his flippancy. The two of them together were electric and snarky. I loved how they challenged each other. Leland had definitely met his match!
Adore this series and looking forward to the next book!
Chock full of Pen jokes and double entendres how can you go wrong?
Gisselle Walters is a fresh out of college journalist with her sights set on doing pieces to change the world. Landing an internship with Leland Merrick a legendary journalist known for getting the story no matter the situation is just the way to get her started down that path.
Unfortunately nothing is that simple, the two are like fire and kerosene together. Day one is fraught with misunderstandings, overheard conversations that may or may not be completely inappropriate, a source with information on a dangerous public figure, and serious case of frustration. Merrick is a complete chauvinist who doesn’t have time for female intern, as no female can do what he does. Gisselle is determined to prove to him that she can not only do the job, but scoop him in the process.
This Enemies to lovers rom com, exceeds what one would typically expect from the genre. It is deftly told from a dual perspective giving the reader an entertaining stroll through the shenanigans of rather complex characters. Ultimately Mimi Jean writes the banter between a Texas girl and true English “Gentleman” flawlessly, while telling an engaging tale of flawed characters who are not only eccentric, and slightly over the top, but also curiously relatable.
She once again writes a book that is snarky, fun, twisty, and unexpected in the way you’ve come to expect from her. Although you can read this as a standalone it is a great fifth installment to the “series” with interconnected characters that flashes with moments seen in Battle of the Bulge. Though this book wraps up the core of Gisselle and Lelands story, there is a mild cliffhanger at the end, leaving it to easily and seamlessly continue into another installment.
Favorite Quotes:
Little does he know that while Camila has the mouth of a sailor, she’s not an easy can-o’-woman to open.
I will agree to meet… if you get down on your knees and apologize for the mean-ass crap you said and concede that I am not inferior to you simply because I have a lady garden instead of a flagpole.
The way he’s looking at me makes my chest buzz. I want to run away, but at the same time a flaming asteroid hurtling from the sky couldn’t move me. The need to be here with him feels like the nail-biter climax from the best suspense movie you’ve ever seen, plus the biggest tear-jerking happy moment of your life (finding your lost puppy), added to seeing a man so hot you stop whatever you’re doing and just absorb the heat.
My Review:
This was a fun, quick, and saucy rom/com full of irreverent humor, sensual steam, whimsical and outrageous situations, and quirky characters.
More often than not, the build-up of those we have lovingly admired could never hold up to the reality of meeting them and discovering they have cooties. And that is what happened to Gisselle, fresh out of university with her journalism degree and eager to start her dream job with her idol/international daredevil/journalist/lady killer/Leland Merrick. The sexy and globally acclaimed Leland turns out to be an infuriating Neanderthal and a first-class asshat. And her dream job; it lasted all of a few days. So what is an idealistic young woman to do but make him pay by becoming his competition, and she does, although things are not as they seem – are they ever?
It’s been a while since I read Battle of the Bulge so it took a while to drop into the link with this book. Talk about a doh! moment!
My Pen is Huge is one fast paced, funny frolic that was totally entertaining and a hoot to read. These stories are all very over the top in silliness and plot line, but that is what makes them so great. It’s as though all the characters and situations are projected through a megaphone, resulting in larger than life personalities and crazy to the extremes situations. Despite that MJP lion tames it all into a cohesive whole that just works. And works brilliantly.
I adored both Gisselle and Leland, especially the Leland in the T-shirt at the zoo and thoroughly enjoyed reading their story. Despite feeling incredibly hot and steamy, it’s quite a slow burn romance, though once it ignites it burns with the heat of a thousand suns.
These are the perfect book when you need a break from reality, a rest from dark or angsty romances or just plain want to smile like a loon as you read it in public. It can be read easily as a stand alone, though once you’ve read it you will want to read all the other books! Totally recommend this.
I always find the covers and the titles of the OHellNo! Series hilarious! There’s never a shortage of humor and chemistry between the main characters. Merrick and Giselle don’t disappoint with their journalistic feud. They both know how to give as good as they get, which makes for a very entertaining story. Not to be missed! Grab the whole series!! 5 stars!!!!
“Merrick is an attractive man, but nothing more. Kind of like a sexy cover model on one of those romance books.”
Gisselle Walters is ready to advance her journalism career. She is sent to learn from one of the greatest, Leland Merrick. What she didn’t expect was a smoking hot new boss who is also extremely irritating. He does not believe that Gisselle is cut out for this job because she is a woman. How rude! She decides she will prove him wrong and show him he messed with the wrong woman. In the process she discovers that Leland is much more than just a great journalist. This hilarious book is filled with shenanigans and mananingans that will have your stomach hurting. I don’t recommend reading while eating or drinking.
What a fun, laugh out loud read this book is. The story line is great and the one liners Mimi Jean comes up with will keep you entertained from beginning to end.
Pamfiloff has brought us readers another hilarious story that weaves in between the previous books in the series…but stands easily on its own. It’s the kind of book that Pamfiloff is famous for. Funny, drama filled and defying typical genre constraints, Pen is a wonderful enemies to lovers mashup.
When Giselle meets Leland Merrick for the first time, it’s fraught with misunderstandings. But she’s ready to learn about dangerous journalism from the best in the business…even if he’s a chauvinistic, misogynistic, gorgeous drama king. This story encompasses multiple journalistic scoops, pranks and trips across the world.
Giselle is a driven, intelligent woman, and her inner dialogue is hysterical.
“I take a sip of my beer and wince. “Yikes. That tastes like a beer got sick after licking another beer’s sweaty balls.” Funny though, I’m not even giving a damn that I just drank something that resembles effervescent, fermented roadkill.”
And I love how Pamfiloff writes Leland as a proper British man. His inner dialogue, as well as outer, is completely authentic
“I’ve interviewed dozens of poor buggers who’ve been sold at auction to rich women for their gentleman’s sausage, bought because of the size of their todgers, knobs, winkies, or what have you. It’s bloody awful, and the authorities don’t give a toss.”
Pamfiloff switches back and forth from Giselle’s Texas viewpoint to Leland ‘s British viewpoint seamlessly. The two of them have insane chemistry, and their pranks will make you laugh loudly. Even when you meet Giselle ‘s family, the absurd nature of the scene will have you giggling. It was at this meeting, that Leland has my favorite line of the book: “Yep. One hell of a strange family. Oddly, I feel like I might’ve finally found my tribe.”
I loved this story hard, and can’t wait to read more of these two reporters. Besides one hell of a ride, you can always count on Pamfiloff to teach us a new word or phrase. She doesn’t disappoint here! I now understand what basting the old ham, flogging the weasel, and tugging the trouser tiger mean! Thanks Mimi!
I must admit I absolutely devoured this story but then again I do love this authors absolutely insane ideas. Something about it made me stay doggedly glued to my kindle. Was it the quirky non-stop banter or the bonkers idea that Leland is actually in many ways almost a shady man in black ? Leland is certainly someone who crosses the line in the name of a good story but having his POV to hand helps the reader get into his head and reasoning as to why he does exactly what he does.
Then again there’s Giselle and her ambitions which really set Lelands teeth on edge. Giselle struggles to reconcile her idea of who Leland should be with exactly how he acts to hilarious effect. Their thoughts and indeed the dialogue is absolutely priceless but then again with this author I should know by now that nothing is taboo .
I loved the intensity of the relationship between the couple but if I’m honest it was most definitely the crazy situations that cropped up with everything but the kitchen sink thrown in . There are naughty references constantly, there’s even a crazy hit man but it was definitely Giselles parents that got me chuckling the most . I loved it and the story drew me in from the first page so if you want a story to tickle your funny bone than this is most assuredly it .
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
My Pen is Huge is book five in the OHellNo series. From the first page you are hooked and cracking up. This book is full of witty humor, lots of sass, crazy adventures, and smoking hot chemistry. It’s just a laugh our loud great read. I’ve been looking forward to the story of our sexy as hell Brit, Leland and our sweet, sassy Gisselle. Their chemistry has you fanning yourself while reading. This book was all I was hoping for and more. You definitely won’t be disappointed.
Loved Leland and Gisselle! Leland Merrick is a renowned journalist. Gisselle is recommended by her professor who is friends with Leland for a job as his assistant. The rest is pure fun, sassy banter, intrigue, and suspense. Get ready for a great ride! The OHellNo series is definitely my favorite!
Oh Boy! This book. Where to begin? If you have read Battle of the Bulge the you should be familiar with these characters, this book starts before battle of the Bugle and continues past the end of it. So we do get mentions of past characters and an appearance by Abi but this is still completely a stand alone.
They say never meet your heroes, Gisselle get the once in a lifetime opportunity to work for a journalist she admires greatly but once she meets him all the mystique about him gets overshadowed by his chauvinism. Not lasting one day Gisselle discovers he’s not who he seems but that doesn’t stop her from pursuing her dreams, stealing his stories, and lusting after the man. But when push comes to shove she gives as good as she gets.
Leland Merrick is more than he seems. A sharp dressed man, determined to get his story go anywhere and knows all the right people to get it done. But one woman and his determination for the story gets sidetracked to protecting her from things she doesn’t realize she’s getting into. Even if she doesn’t see it and thinks he’s purposefully trying to derail her from her goal, well he is but for her own safety.
Overall, yet another hysterical read from MJP. Seriously this series is great for putting a smile on my face even when feeling depressed. I loved Marrick even when he was an ass. Gisselle is such a character, she conniving… I mean, smart. Her naivety started off funny but gets a little annoying. I can only take so much kindergarten words for sex and body parts. It makes me every excited for the foul mouthed Rose whose book is next. I kinda also want to meet Gisselle’s brother. As a lover of puns and innuendos this book gets even more bonus points.
Another great read in the OHellNo series. Full of funny situations, witty banter, mysterious who-dun-its, and surprises, My Pen is Huge kept me smiling from start to finish.
Our Hero Leland Merrick is a world famous journalist who acts like a sexy James Bond…but is also kind of a misogynistic pig. Giselle is his new intern: the one he didn’t remember hiring. Thankfully, Giselle isn’t going to let his “big pen” get in the way of getting a good story.
I loved Leland’s protectiveness, even if it was a little sneaky. And Giselle was so strong and independent; she didn’t take any crap from Leland and easily dished it back out.
Don’t miss my cameo! Leland’s office manager is me. I’m only missing the rain boots!
