I never wanted a big brother, but, thanks to my mother’s romance with a much older man, I got a billionaire step-brother. It was pretty awesome until I fell in love with him, and he sister-zoned me.Gabriel is movie-star gorgeous and sub-zero cold. I should know that a man like that doesn’t pay attention to a girl like me without an ulterior motive. And, as if unrequited love wasn’t bad enough, I … wasn’t bad enough, I find out what he really cares about. And it’s not me. Not by a long shot.
I hate his stupid nasal voice and I hate the memory of each time he was kind to me. I hate his chiseled cheekbones, his pale skin that never blushes and his constantly cool composure. I hate that he can keep his heart out of the way when it comes to business and I hate that I can’t get over him.
Enjoy the third sweet and steamy episode in a slow-burn romance between a younger woman and an older man. The relationship between Melody and Gabriel hits serious turbulence. Instead of working out the problem when they’re forced to spend time together, they end up making it worse.
This book ends on a cliffhanger, but get ready for the big hot HEA in the next one, “My Older Step-Brother 4: Irresistible”.

Thawing out and heating up in Brazil in February – Weddings, bikinis and confessions
My Older Stepbrother 3: Insufferable is the third episode in Girls Playing with Fire about Melody and her stepbrother Gabriel. They are still at it with the back and forth in this episode. This starts the morning after their “pool encounter” of the night before. As it is still the holidays Melody is volunteering at the shelter, her mom and James are off in Paris, her father is on a mission and Gabriel is still around but removed himself somewhat. On New Years Eve Melody goes to the party at the club with her friends and has a great time. But Gabriel is still on her mind as he is off at a cabin with his friends, which may or may not include a woman or man sharing his bed. However, when Melody finds herself in a situation during the party it is one of Gabriel’s bodyguards that comes to her rescue and she ends up in the hospital, awaking to find Gabriel by her bedside. When she is released he takes her to the cabin with him for the remaining days and she has a nice time, even though she is still dealing with her feelings towards and fantasies of Gabriel. When they return to town Melody and Gabriel have an exchange which deeply wounds her after he says agrees that the only reason he had gotten close to her was so he could find out about his father and her mother’s relationship. This was because her mother did not sign a pre-nup and Gabriel is concerned about the family company and fortune.
Several weeks pass with no communication between Melody and Gabriel until a wedding of a family friend in Brazil. Melody arrives with her mother and James on Wednesday, less her luggage as it is lost somewhere around the world. But a quick stop at one of the resorts stores and she at least has the essentials – bikini, sarong, a couple dresses and some sandals. The next day Gabriel arrives and Melody into another emotional tailspin with him so near. It is what happens the night of the wedding that will really mess her up when Gabriel confesses that he lied to her and he desires her in the oh so worst way but in a way that is very wrong since she is his much younger stepsister. Before the night is over certain other truths will be confessed, a big event in Melody’s life will happen and her and Gabriel’s “relationship” appear to be irreparable broken, such as it may be.
I liked this third installment as the interesting story-line had several twists that I had not expected for Melody’s character. She is still young bu yet she deals with certain situations in more of an adult manner than some adults would. Gabriel is really starting to annoy me with the way he is playing with Melody’s emotions, spinning her back and forth like a ping-pong ball. But we will see what happens in the next and last episode as I have a feeling he may redeem himself and maybe melt like the big block of ice he is most of the time.
This is a continuation of the story of Melody and Gabriel. I loved that this story contained love and anger, angst and a little suspense, all the while telling about these two step siblings. Before I read anything by this author, I truly despised cliff hangers. I now believe that Marissa Blush is a master of leaving you wanting more, knowing that you will find out what motivates her characters. She exposes that a little bit at a time. If you have not read the first two books in this series, I would strongly recommend that you give them a try. I do not believe you will be disappointed.

Melody wakes to get ready to go to the shelter and is stunned to find that Gabriel is still there. He has fixed breakfast and wants to make sure she knows what happened was a mistake that he takes the blame for. This upset Melody because she thought it meant something. Melody gets a message from Gabriel when he makes it to the cabin with his friends but she wonders if he took a woman with him. She goes out with Miranda to a New Year’s Eve party and a guy she knows ends up slipping her something in her drink. She manages to get away from him but lands in the hospital from what he gave her. This has Gabriel coming back and Melody and tired of the back and forth with him. Will she continued to let Gabriel play his game with her? Can she finally move on from him?
This is a great story that will hook you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I can’t wait to read what happens next. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I have no idea how Melody can still be sane after the way Gabriel is treating her, one minute he’s all nice & loving then a nasty piece of dirt. When he was having her watched at the party when a so called friend Logan drugged her & tried to rape her his guy Dexter was there to save her taking her to the hospital where she woke up to find Gabriel all concerned about her. Then soon after he turned showing his real self about never wanting her just pretending to be her friend to make sure her mum wasn’t after his dad for his money as she never signed a pre-nup. Angered she got his lawyer friend Mark who she’d become friends with to print one out, she spoke to her mum who knew nothing about it but she signed it as she wasn’t interested in the money she then took it to Gabriel’s office gave it to him & left. She never saw or spoke to him after that until he turned up at a wedding she was at with her mum & James. She kept ignoring him but he talked her into going to his room saying & doing all the right things which got her into bed. She’d been dreaming of this moment but as soon as he got what he wanted he again showed his true colours she told him she hated him before she walked out the door. God damn woman how can you leave me on a cliff hanger again… argh. I can’t wait for the next book.

The push-pull relationship between Melody and Gabriel is taken to a new level. The ending for this installment stinks. Not the writing or anything like that. It’s more about how realistic it is and how that situation really happens and is the pits to go through / be part of. While I’m expecting an HEA or even an HFN, waiting for it also stinks. 😉 I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Melody woke up and prepared to head to the shelter to help, figuring Gabriel was long gone. She was stunned he was in the kitchen making breakfast and offered her some, along with an ibuprofen to help with the champagne hangover. He was taking blame for things going too far, but that is not what she wanted. He just wanted to be part of the family. She could pretend that’s all she wanted, even if she wanted to cry. He would remain her secret unrequited love.
When Gabriel went to the mountains with his friends, Melody was pretty sure he was taking someone with him, a female to share his bed. He texted “We arrived safely and settled in. You can call any time.” But was the “we” his friends, or him and the woman he took with him? She tried not to think about it as she got dressed at home for the New Year’s party. Miranda would be giving her a ride to the Silver Spoon. Logan gave her a New Year’s kiss, and it was nice. But it didn’t fill the hole in her chest. He wanted to go out to the terrace with her, but it was cold, so she handed him her drink to hold while she got her coat. Finishing her drink, she tripped twice and felt dizzy. She looking around and it was not the terrace, and he was putting his hands on her inappropriately and saying nasty things to her. Her dad had taught her a self-defense move and it knocked Logan out, but she was hardly able to stand and felt sick. A man came out, said Gabriel Hamilton had sent him and he would take her to the hospital – and she passed out.
When Melody woke at the hospital, Gabriel was with her. It was fortunate she had not had any alcohol or the effects of the drug would have been much more severe. Now Gabriel was taking her to the mountain cabin with him and his friends. He would not leave her alone. He was very protective of her. And she couldn’t stop all the fantasies that still ran through her head. Will he and Melody ever get together? She hates that he put her in the sister-zone. But she would keep trying to just be family and nothing more – if only she could shut off her thoughts.
I really liked this book and Melody’s conflicting emotions about Gabriel. The characters, including the secondary characters, are wonderful and real. Things are not usually running smoothly, but I am eagerly waiting to see where the story might go next.
Melody continues to navigate the conflicting emotions about her mother marrying James and what she feels for her new step-brother Gabriel. Gabriel continues to be cold and stand-offish but he also protects her. A wedding in the hot sun is just what she needs after the very cold Canadian winter. The characters are genuine, determined, and very stubborn. The storyline continues with ups and downs, intrigue, mystery, and turmoil. I can’t wait to read the next installment to see where the story goes from here.

I liked this episode of the story. It was entertaining but not as enjoyable as previous episodes. My lower enjoyment has to do with the characters, well one character Gabriel. I’m so confuzzled right now about him. Was he lying the whole time? Or was he lying when he said he lied? Or was the whole thing just lies? I felt so bad for Melody at the end of this one. Damn cliffhangers! I NEED the next episode so I can find out what was really going on.
It was frustrating because I need to know more… but I still recommend reading it! (Misery loves company… muahahahaha!)

ONE INTENSE READ!!! Whoa! Fast and furious is definitely the way to go. Yep, talk about falling hard. I do not even know where to begin. I thought the last book was fantastic. Again, this is an unexpected delight in itself. I know, I can not make up my mind. So choose them all. You can not go wrong here, trust me on that. This is a page-turner, smooth flowing wild ride with all the thrills and explosions you can handle.
