From USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Peel comes a wickedly charming, flirty, and clever friends to lovers story. Loveless is more than a name, it’s a curse.I, Emma Loveless, have a destiny. It’s not the greatest of destinies, but when you have a name like Loveless, what can you do? I’m cursed to always be the friend, never the girlfriend. Unless you count my love affair with Duncan Hines, … count my love affair with Duncan Hines, Dr. Pepper, and the ever-lovable Pillsbury Doughboy. They’ve seen me through it all, but a girl needs more than refined sugar to curl up to every night. It doesn’t help that I have a meddling, albeit wonderful, mother who can’t help playing matchmaker. Thanks to her, I can say I’ve been on a date with a felon. Now she swears she’s found the one for me, her new optometrist, Dr. Sawyer King. Meanwhile, I’m preparing for the inevitable restraining order. That is, until I meet the sexy doctor and have to admit my mother is right–love at first sight does exist.
Unfortunately, my last name means business. Not only do I find myself in the friend zone, but also the twilight zone. Only in my world would Mr. Right turn into my stepbrother. To top it off, he brings with him a wicked stepmother who will do anything to keep us apart. Despite all this my heart–or is that my mom?–keeps telling me Sawyer is the one. But what if true love isn’t strong enough to interfere with my destiny? It’ll be me and the Doughboy…for eternity.

I loved loved loved this book. So much swoon in this best friends to lovers romcom. <3
Em always was the friend but not the girlfriend. Her every loving support died but before she did. Mom had set in motion for Em not to be loveless anymore. Sawyer and Em faces and actions showed every thing the were hiding from. Em always was love.
I love Jennifer Peel’s writing and will buy her book the second I know it’s out. So that’s what I did with this release and I devoured it in one setting. Definitely one of my favorites and one I will be rereading because it’s so awesome.
I LOVED this book! It’s Jennifer Peel gold. I wanted to crawl between the covers and live there!
This was the perfect amount of sexy without it crossing uncomfortable lines. It was really fun escapism and you should add it to your Friday-night-read-ignore-the-kids pile. And if you don’t have that pile, you need that pile.
Such a fun rom-com and not at all what I was expecting! This book kept me laughing the whole way through and I just loved Em and Sawyer’s rocky road to happily ever after. If you’re looking for a romantic read with plenty of heart & plenty of laughs, I would totally recommend this one!
Very sweet! The main characters were fine, I liked sooo much that they were not so young and silly, which is common in the type of books. I loved that Emma had a career and a life, even though it was not a love life, he was a really a gentleman, maybe too much but I liked because he was very real and not the typical male character (perfect). It really delivered to me that I was looking for something different. The book did not have sex scenes which was fine for me, at the end I kept me wondering a bit how they continue with their lives, I would have prefer a better Epilogue, but I hope to continue with their lives in the following book of the series (which I WILL READ!). To sum up, the book was sweet, page turning, that kept me entertained until the end. I recommend this book.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. No sex, but a page turner.
This was my first Jennifer Peel’s book, and won’t be my last. This is the first book in the My Not So Wicked Series. This slow burn story is fun, emotional, and beautiful. Emma Loveless and Sawyer King are great characters. I love their slow, really slow burn story, and their happy ending. This was a beautiful journey to love. Melissa Moran did an amazing job with the narration. She has a beautiful voice, and all the voices were easy to distinguish. I enjoyed my listening. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook — at my request — and have voluntarily left this review. #AudiobookWorm
I will read anything Jennifer Peel writes. She is an incredible author. I love that she writes clean but passionate romantic stories. She is an automatic download for me and I don’t even have to read the synopsis to know I will love the book.
Uniquely talented, Emma Loveless has forged her future, shining like a diamond in a workforce of men. Unfortunately, that brilliance dims at home among the glamorous women in her life. She loves spreadsheets and soccer, but her dreams of love stalled out after her mom died and her dad remarried. Is a romance kickstart impossible? Dr. Sawyer King has a five-year plan: 1. Open his own practice. 2. Save every penny. 3. Find the perfect woman to help him build a home and family. “The past year’s events had landed me smack dab in the middle of not only the friend zone, but also the twilight zone.”
Prepare to pull an all-nighter. You will not be able to put this book down. You will be laughing, crying, and appreciating your mama just a little more. The best books make you feel by making you laugh, mourn, swoon, and scream in frustration. Welcome to Carrington Cove and Jennifer Peel’s newest series. I’m hooked, again!
I borrowed this book last week via Kindle Unlimited and didn’t start it until yesterday afternoon.
Every few minutes I was laughing, it wasn’t long before I was sharing passages of it with my daughter and she was laughing too. She asked for the title of the book so she could download it.
I finished it this morning, making sure to bookmark places to share with my daughter. Pretty soon I told her to send the book back so I could buy it!!!!
I am so in love with Emma and Sawyer! I love Emma because she is hilarious. She has a great love for (real) Dr. Pepper, not diet, Duncan Hines, Betty Crocker etc. Sawyer is just dreamy and he loves Emma so much, despite his mothers interference.
This is a clean read with a few curse words, such as the h and d word but nothing anything worse. I have no problem letting my teenage daughter read it. It is one of the best books I have read in a while. I can’t wait for the next book in the series and will check out more by Jennifer Peel!
Another great book from Jennifer Peel. I love this author. I can’t wait for the next book.
I absolutely loved this book! I couldn’t put it down!!! I love Jennifer Peel’s writing. I am super excited for the next book in the series.
I LOVED this book. So enticing with characters that draw you in and keep you coming bak for more. I love how relatable Emma is and how swoon worthy Sawyer is. I loved the journey Peel took us on with this book and I couldn’t stop reading. Would recommend to a friend!
This book is more than your typical romance novel. Emma is witty and relatable and depsite not being wicked, Sawyer has a wicked sense of charm. Definitely a book you wont want to put down!
Loved this book! I love how witty Jennifer Peel’s writing is. Sawyer is my new book boyfriend – he was so yummy! I can’t wait for more books in this series!
Emma was very down to earth and totally hilarious. She was confident and independent. She lived her life the way she wanted and loved herself the way she was, though she sometimes worried how other people saw her physically–which felt very real. Don’t we all worry about how our bodies look more than we should? I loved that her friends and the hero couldn’t see the things she was afraid they might. I’ve never felt it was right to shame someone for having body image issues, I think it’s best to build them up–that’s what her friends and the hero did.
Jennifer Peel has a way of creating heroines that feel like they’re your very good friend telling you a story. When her books end, I mourn the fact that the friendship is over, because the person isn’t actually real. Emma feels like someone I’d really like to know.
Peel is one of my favorite authors ever. I don’t know how she does it, but I love every single book of hers. This one is no exception. It is hysterical, it is touching, it is tender, and it is just all around amazing. Emma and Sawyer are some of my favorite characters and I love the respect and admiration they have for and express for each other. I got so caught up in it that the moment I finished it, I turned around and started it again. That doesn’t happen very often for me.
Cursed. Anyone with the last name Loveless would be. At least that’s what Emma believes. She’s always the best friend, never the girlfriend. But that doesn’t stop her mother from playing matchmaker. She’s determined to help Emma find the love of her life. When her mom tells her that she’s found “the one” for Emma, she tries to discourage her, but to no avail.
One text. Just one text from an unknown number. Who knew that one text would be the catalyst to flip Emma’s world upside down? Turns out her mom was right… Sawyer is the love of her life. But her mom was also wrong… she has been firmly put on the “just friends” shelf by Sawyer. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. They were supposed to meet, go on a date and then see where the future led. But when tragedy struck, all plans came to a screeching halt. Who knew that love could hurt so much?
Things just keep going from bad to worse. Her dad remarried an evil stepmonster and hasn’t been the same since. Her sisters are brats and treat her horribly. And to top it off, some blonde bombshell has set her sights on Sawyer. It would be easy to hate said beauty… if it wasn’t for the fact that’s she so nice. Emma doesn’t need any of this. Why can’t things be different?
But what if they could be different? What if the little things Sawyer has been saying and doing means that he feels for her in a more than friends kind of way? That would be icing on the brownies for Miss Emma Loveless. But before she has a chance to figure it out, stepmonster puts her in an uncomfortable position that can only end badly. Emma has to decide. Go along with and agree to what stepmonster says or stick to her guns knowing that in the end she could lose Sawyer.
There is really only one choice. And if Sawyer can’t see past everything that his mother has been doing, then he doesn’t deserve her friendship or her love.
But little does she know… Sawyer have been holding back. He’s done with everyone getting in their way. He’s done with not getting what he wants. Everything is about to change, for the better… and Emma won’t know what hit her.
*dreamy sigh*
Oh. My. Gosh! You. Guys! Drop whatever you are reading and grab My Not So Wicked Stepbrother… RIGHT NOW! You will not regret it… I promise! Once I started it I found myself being kidnapped and held hostage within it’s pages and was not released until the very end. An no… I am NOT complaining at all! I had no desire to leave those beautiful pages! Who would when you have a swoon worthy, thoughtful hero like Sawyer and selfless, adorable, full of love heroine like Emma?! And can we just take a moment to ponder that unforgettable first kiss?! *dreamy sigh* YOWZERS! It is definitely worth the wait! It will not be forgotten anytime soon! 😉
And can we take a minute to discuss who CAN be forgotten?! I could not STAND Sawyer’s mom or his brother nor did I like Emma’s dad and sisters the majority of the book. They all had me fuming! Like steam coming out of my ears and the top of my head exploding kind of fuming! They did not deserve to have someone as amazing as Emma in their lives! There’s a quote from the movie My Best Friend’s Wedding that describes these lovelies… they are “the pus that infects the mucus that cruds up the fungus that feeds on the pond scum.” Her dad and sisters may have redeemed themselves but I still felt this way about them for a good portion of the book! 😉 Haha.
I know I say this all the time BUT…. Jennifer Peel has done it again! I can always count on her books for that much needed break from reality! It’s no wonder she’s one of my all time favorites! I am definitely looking forward to the other books in this series! If they are anything like this one then I know I am going to absolutely ADORE them!
