NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Part love story, part workplace drama, this sharply observed novel is a witty critique of the false judgments we make in a social-media-obsessed world.“Sophie Kinsella keeps her finger on the cultural pulse, while leaving me giddy with laughter. I loved it.”—Jojo Moyes Everywhere Katie Brenner looks, someone else is living the life she longs for, particularly her boss, … longs for, particularly her boss, Demeter Farlowe. Demeter is brilliant and creative, lives with her perfect family in a posh townhouse, and wears the coolest clothes. Katie’s life, meanwhile, is a daily struggle—from her dismal rental to her oddball flatmates to the tense office politics she’s trying to negotiate. No wonder Katie takes refuge in not-quite-true Instagram posts, especially as she’s desperate to make her dad proud.
Then, just as she’s finding her feet—not to mention a possible new romance—the worst happens. Demeter fires Katie. Shattered but determined to stay positive, Katie retreats to her family’s farm in Somerset to help them set up a vacation business. London has never seemed so far away—until Demeter unexpectedly turns up as a guest. Secrets are spilled and relationships rejiggered, and as the stakes for Katie’s future get higher, she must question her own assumptions about what makes for a truly meaningful life.
Sophie Kinsella is celebrated for her vibrant, relatable characters and her great storytelling gifts. Now she returns with all of the wit, warmth, and wisdom that are the hallmarks of her bestsellers to spin this fresh, modern story about presenting the perfect life when the reality is far from the truth.

A quick read with likable characters. It’s not one of those books that change your life or anything but would be a good vacation read.
I picked this up for an R&R weekend and it was the best way to unwind. Funny, witty and engaging–definitely loved it!
Katie Brenner is working hard to re-invent herself. She has moved from the country in England to London. She changed her name to Cat and moved into a tiny apartment. She spends time instagraming restaurants and places in London she can’t really afford to eat. Her family and friends have no idea how much she really is struggling to become the person she thinks she wants to be.
She works for a branding company, with a high powered boss who seems to have everything Katie wants. Just as Katie is starting to get on her feet, she is fired. With no job, she is forced to move home with her dad and stepmother. While she is there, she helps them start up a business. After three months, her previous boss shows up at the camp. Her boss realizes who Katie is and secrets are revealed. Katie now has to make a decision about who is truly is.
True to Kinsella – this was a sweet book. The story is funny, and light. The character, Katie, has some depth and she is smart and ambitious. All the main characters in this book are very likable, so that made me not want to put the book down. The ending went a direction I was hoping it would take, but that I actually wasn’t sure it would. I think Kinsella tackles a lot of important issues – women in the workplace, relationships with step parents, young women trying to make something of themselves on very little money.
I highly recommend the book. Even though it is 400 pages, it is a quick and light read, and I promise you will enjoy ever page.
Loved this one by Sophie Kinsella! It’s a fun, unique story that I raced my way through.
This book was good until about half way through when it started to insult my intelligence. It became silly and unrealistic. I quit reading it.
Kinsella delivers again! Loved the characters, the twist, the love story, and oh-my-god the Glamming venture–too funny. She made me laugh, identify with the characters feelings and situations…perfect! Can’t wait for the next one.
Kinsella’s stand alones are good, better than the series.
Enjoyable read.
Sophie’s books are always a good read!
I enjoyed the book. It was funny, sad and probably is life for a lot of single women just starting out.
This book made me laugh out loud.
I really enjoy this book. I got caught up in the characters and their lives, as well as the extremely entertaining and witty storyline. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future.
Light reading, not quite as much fun as the Shop-a-holic books.
Loved this book!
Anyone wishing for a light, entertaining read. This is the book and author for you.
Reading a new book by Kinsella is like finding wings and soaring. A strong heroine, inventive dialogue, hysterical scenes (where the kind and honest h tried to be vendictive), believable plot, well-characterized supporting cast, and an H to drool over. I’m saving it to read again.
Reminiscent of main character in Me Before You, the book kept me wanting more. Couldn’t put it down and sad to reach the end. Great character development.
I really liked the story line in this book. However, the indiscriminate use of the F-word ruined it for me. Too bad the author felt like that was necessary.
All of her books are GREAT, no matter what your age.
Very much enjoyed this book! Funny and emotional. Highly recommended.
