RykerThis is my game: I choose the players, and I never play for keeps.I don’t believe in fate. I make my own destiny. I work hard and play harder. Meeting her messed up my plan, threw me off my game. She’s the epitome of the girl next door, but with a feistiness that drives me crazy.I’m now face to face with my karma. Her name is Kat Rollins.KatRyker Eddison is the epitome of a player. You know … Eddison is the epitome of a player. You know the type: Mr. Get In and Get Out.
He’s all about the chase, wanting just one night. Everyone knows this—I know this. Still, I find myself craving him in spite of what my heart and mind already know: he will only bring me pain.
He’s the guy girls like me should avoid. I’m smart. I know better. But when I’m with him, I feel things I’ve never felt before, things I never knew I wanted.
I can’t deny it…this high is explosive. But I’m afraid if I give in, I may end up losing more than I can handle: my heart.

Loved it! I loved the character developmental of Ryker and KAT, and how their romance blossomed from coworkers to friends lovers and much more. This is a a different kind of young adult romance where there was a message inspiring the main characters wanted to grow individually and as a couple.
Love, love, loved this story… Ryker & Kat kept me awake until the early hours of the morning… Once I started this book I had to stay awake reading to see how this story played out!! Ryker is a guy who loves to play the field; a manwhore as they say… he loved the chase; that is until he laid eyes on Kat the stunning new Shooter Girl at Pub Fiction! Kat and Ryker play a seriously hot game of tension filled cat & mouse before finally giving in to their intense feelings for each other and starting an emotionally charged affair!! I can’t recommend this book enough 5 stars just isn’t enough!
I really enjoyed this story I was rooting for Kat and Ryker I loved the instant chemistry between them.
Kat has a lot of problems she suffers major panic attacks due to a situation from her past which she hasn’t fully recovered from. I loved her straight away.
Ryker is a player he’s happy to work in his brother’s bar whilst he’s studying. It’s the perfect place for his man whore ways.
A different girl whenever he feels like it with no strings attached.
That is until he sets eyes on Kat and everything changes for him. Ryker fights his feelings for Kat. He knows she’s not one of his one night only girls. Which is a shame because that’s all he can offer.
After keeping his distance for so long he finally snaps and needs to decide if he can offer more than just one night to this beautiful girl.
That thought alone scares the crap out of him, but so does the thought of anyone else getting his girl.
I loved this story all the will they won’t they sexual tension was hot as hell. I wanted to scream at the two of them.
A great story and I’m looking forward to reading book 2.
The first book I read by Gillian Jones was Fighting Weight. When I finished, I knew I had to read every single book this amazingly talented woman has written. I asked her where I should be begin and she said the Pub Fiction series. My Mind’s Eye is book one. Gillian also told me she gets nervous when people read this book since she has come so far since writing it. Well, rest assured GJ, My Mind’s Eye is just as terrific as I knew it would be.
Story Line: Kat is a college senior. She takes a job at a bar named Pub Fiction (hence the series name) with her roommate. Ryker helps out his brother by working at the bar several nights a week. He and Kat are about as opposite as can be. He’s a love them and leave them type. She’s the sweet as pie girl next door type. Yet there’s just something with these two that can’t be ignored. It takes these two quite a while to realize that spark they feel whenever the other is near isn’t going anywhere. But of course it’s not smooth sailing once they decide to give their chemistry a chance. But I can say with absolute confidence, this HEA is one of my favorites.
Interaction: Kat and Ryker are adorable, funny, sweet, frustrating, hot, and the list goes on. Their relationship is the epitome of dating in your early 20’s, in my opinion. There’s obvious attraction, yet neither person has the nerve to act on it. Wait several months, things get heated. Insert an epic misunderstanding that leads to more time away from one another. Before both final pull their heads out of their asses so they can engage in their beautiful happily ever after. Maybe that was just my person experience dating my now hubby. But I laughed when I realized that Kat and Ryker’s timeline matched that of me and my husband when we were dating. So, of course, this just made me love them even more.
Laundry: God, I love the laundry scenes this woman writes. They have just the right amount of naughty talk, alpha behavior and sexiness I adore. Ryker is possessive and is totally whipped. But what I loved the most about him, was he was definitely not afraid to let the world know that he is totally smitten with Kat. Lucky bitch.
Depth: I’ll say it once, I’ll say it a thousand times. I love me some dirty laundry, but the books I read have to have more to them. There has to be some meat to the story that holds my attention. And let me tell you, you cannot go wrong with Gillian Jones. It is guaranteed you will love every damn word she writes. Kat and Ryker are not insta love. They are not without faults. And they are not without skeletons in their closets. But they fight for each other. They don’t give up. And that’s a damn good feeling to be left with after finishing a book.
GJ, you had absolutely no reason to be nervous about this book. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars in my reviews. You deserve a medal for writing stories that captivate hearts and give us renewed faith in love.
My Mind’s Eye beautiful love story. Ryker and Kat were so hot together. Ryker is in college, a one time guy, no clingers after being hurt in the past, he works as a bar tender at his brother’s Pub Fiction. Kat has a lot on her plate, she is in her last year of college, after a fire went through her dorm she is left with anxiety issues, and dealing with a douche ex boyfriend who won’t leave her alone. When Ryker meets Kat, the new hire at Pub Fiction, he feels this incredible connection to her. Kat has a craving for him but doesn’t understand what she’s done to him as all he does is growl at her. Will they be able to let the past go and move forward with each other?
