Tillie packs hard hitting punches in this latest Hangman Novel. Her rousing and emotional writing made my heart twist in agony and set my blood on fire. I almost endured what Flame does on any given day. Tears of Empathy flowed like a roaring river and the urge to soothe his nightmares was constant.
We all remember the Powerful burning love of Flame & Maddie from Souls Unfractured (Hades Hangman #3). We haven’t forgotten the lightening intensity and brooding force of their connection which managed to salvage them both!!
“Plagued by haunting villains from his past, an all-consuming rage, and isolated by an abhorrent hatred of being touched, Flame’s days are filled with suffocating darkness, pierced only by a single ray of light—Maddie. ”
And you’d think that afterwards, their passion has cooled down the anger burning like hot lava in Flame, captured and slayed his inner beastly enemies or mellowed him down enough to forget everything from his brutal and torturous past? ….well! You’re WRONG!!
Those inner enemies were merely hibernating in the caverns of his dark soul, the fires in his blood hadn’t extinguished, they’d merely simmered down as glowing embers.
Now they BACK!!
“The same flames had risen again. Flame’s personal Armageddon, the place his beasts gathered to do battle.”
Their Love flame has graduated to a roaring, crackling inferno in this book, threatening to consume the club, the barn, their home and their lives.
New developments have forced Flame back into the depressive cave of self loathing. He wants to curl up and hide in the abysmal depths again, making it a veritable unending, uphill task for Maddie to fight for BOTH of them
This book is ALL Maddie. Her mettle, steely courage, invincible love just refuses to back down or break away. Out of all Tillie’s heroines, she’s the only one who is forged and purified by fire into Gold. Her capacity to accept absolutely & forgive compassionately hasn’t diminished at all.
“He would keep breaking… and he would never be free. It was time he breathed easier. It was time he liberated himself from the prison in which he was incarcerated.”
The book is fierce, compactly violent, tense and emotionally draining. For both the characters in it and the readers looking at them
It takes my all to not fall down on my knees, only Maddie’s courage shame me and pushes me to read on.
All the club members are present and play an important role around them. Asher shines in his bravery and embarrassingly stumbles many times. His downfall seems imminent…but NO
It’s heinous, debilitating yet hopeful and persistent. Flame and Maddie are still my fave couple and shall remain so for eternity.
5 Burning Stars for Phoenix from the Ashes
I found this to be pretty repetitive, and the editing is getting worse the further we get in the series. It’s distracting. I hold books I pay full price for at a higher standard as I do the ones I grab in KU or borrow. I bought the whole series after reading book 1. Parts of me wish I had bought them one by one as I finished the last. I am not 100% sure I would have gotten this.
That all being said, it wasn’t horrible. We learned some new information but it was more of the same. *shrug*
My Flame.
My heart is on fire… and no matter ho much tears just falken down already – I STILL FEEL THIS NEW ONES COMING SOON! And still…my heart is burning but feels all the love for Flame, for Maddie… for ever single Hangmen there.
My heart is in… Ash-es but I feel healed from the other side. I thought I surrvived everything with finishing Maddie and Flame’s story but no…. My Maddie hit me from this unexpected side.
All events in this book will leave permanent sign on my heart and soul. I cried. I laughed. I was mad. I WANT MORE.
My Maddie was perfect addition to the other books in series, and it showed me again – Mrs. Tillie Cole is a genius author. She lead us into the vety dark world, but without any doubts – She and The Hades Hangmen are our rescue squad.
MUST READ TITLE!
I loved this book. It was an incredibly emotional book that was hard to read at times. My heart ached for the characters and everything they endured. I was glad to see all my favorite HH characters. The plot of this book was a little slower paced than previous books in the series as it was more emotion driven rather than action driven. But it was still a punch to the gut. I can not wait for more stories from this world.
3.5’s
Oh my heart… THIS was a pretty intense tough emotional read.
As always I love spending time with this gang.
And I especially loved the many mentions/appearances of one of my favorite characters from this series. That was something special to me.
But this story is very much about Maddie, Flame and Lil Ash. It’s about support by your loved ones. Growth. Forgiveness and Over coming ones past.
My heart was saddened by their battles but was happy by their resilience.
This is a full length novel but kinda felt like a Maddie and Flame novella because there were several long chapters in Ash’s POV.
This book was all about mental illness. Flame & Lil Ash need so much help. And Maddie I felt was struggling. She was in way over her head. I didn’t feel this in Flames & Maddie’s first book (Souls Unfractured) But I definitely felt this way in this book. I also felt bad for Maddie. Because in a way… she’s still holding herself back. Flame’s mental illness is a lot to take on by yourself.
“I knew the demons both Flame and I lived with had merely been abated by our union, not exorcized. Love was a powerful remedy, but it was not a cure for some scars. They ran too deep. They were incurable. We had simply learned to live with our demons harnessed, sharing when the burden of dire thoughts became too great.”
And as I kept reading. I felt all the guys in the club were enabling Flames mental illness. He needed professional help. He needed to take medication. Because there’s no way just Maddie could calm the flames just by simply being there for him.
I’m just reading page after page of Flame cutting himself. Digging his nails so deep into his skin that it draws enough blood to drip down his arms.
I can’t even concentrate about the other crazy stuff that’s going on with the club. Because between Flame’s relapse and the start of Lil Ash’s mental illness/messed up road he’s going on. its a lot to take in.
My heart is breaking for Maddie. This time right now should be her happiest. She’s overcome so much to get to this point in her life. And unfortunately Flame is making it really hard for her to relax. And enjoy it all.
This book was emotionally draining. I just felt the heaviness of it all! It was hard to read at times. Lil Ash in this book is a whole different person. I’m not liking the way his character is going.
I can’t wait until the next book. But I can tell already…. Lil Ash is going down a road that’s going to be hell getting back from.

“You could never hurt me, baby. You are my salvation, my remedy, my salve. You were a dream fulfilled and a hope granted.”
Flame and Maddie are my favorite couple in this series. So I was very excited when I saw that this book would focus on them again. Flame is one of the most broken, unstable, haunted and intriguing characters I have ever met. In this book the demons he silenced are back with a vengeance. They are even darker and more cruel than before. This will be his most difficult and heartbreaking fight so far. Maddie is one of the most supportive and beautiful heroines, and always has Flame’s best interest in mind. However, sometimes she will have to go to extreme measures to bring Flame back. This book broke my heart but Tillie Cole mended it at the end. This was such an emotional rollercoaster, and I just couldn’t keep my tears contained. Flame and Maddie already had gone through a lot, and it just was so heartbreaking to see Flame pulled back into his own personal hell.
“His flames were neither evil nor devil tainted. They were sharp bursts of redemption. Of hope. Flame was light. He was my warmth.”
This is one of my all time favorite series, and I just love being reunited with all my favorite characters. I love catching up and see how they are doing. I was happy that Ash’ POV was included in this book, it was a great way to see how he was dealing with everything. I love him so much and the emotional moments between him and Flame were heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. Seeing Flame fight his demons was painful but very necessary, however Ash’ journey is just beginning. I don’t have to say much more, but if you love this series then you’ll love this book as well. I just can’t get enough of the Hades Hangmen, and I really hope that this series won’t end for a very long time.
“You are a good man, baby. You are my universe. You are my light and my reason for living. Do you understand this, Flame?”
My Maddie by Tillie Cole
“We were magnets, pulling together even when shattered apart.”
I have been a Tillie Cole fan for years. Tillie is Queen of dark romance. There’s something very magical and captivating about her stories. They are always so emotionally raw, real and beautiful. I trusted that Tillie would give them justice. They deserve the best.
There is not enough words to describe this heartbreakingly beautiful love story. I’m an emotional mess. One second I’m crying my eyes out, only to break out in hysterical laughter over something Viking said. Flame and Maddie will always have my heart. I thought nothing could be better than Souls Unfractured but My Maddie took my poor heart hostage and won’t give it back. I highlighted the whole freaking book. So many wonderful quotes. Flame and Maddie are the perfect soulmates. They are one half of the same soul. They won’t survive without the other.
Maddie was so strong in this book. So loyal and fierce. She is deeply in love with Flame and will do anything to help him fight his battles. She refuses to back down. She is perfect for Flame. One of the best heroines ever. With kindness comes strenght.
Flame is still our broken boy, constantly fighting the flames. He is terrified they’re going to hurt his Maddie. He loves Maddie with his soul and would die without her. My heart stopped when he said he was too tired to live. I could feel Maddie’s heart break. They deserve everything good, and I’m happy that Flame got his own little family. He deserve to feel all the love, kindness and protection. And Flame will always protect his family.
All the other Hangmen plays an important roll in this story. I love everyone of them. Viking, our pineapple loving ginger is hilarious and I can’t wait for his story. His love for Flame’s baby was everything. So many questions about him. I think there is so much more to him than crude jokes and sex. And who will be his love interest?? I can’t wait to find out.
Smiler and Lil Ash broke my heart. They both carry a heavy burden, so much sadness and guilt. At times I wanted to slap Ash, only to give him a hug and tell him everything will be okay.
This story was perfect for this series. I can’t wait for more.
Emotionally drained. The horrific abuse he suffered as a child. You will have a deeper understanding of Flame. Guilt is a motherfucker. This was exactly what I was expected but damn it was hard to read. I’d like to think I’m immune to reading the hard stuff as this is book number 8, but sadly no. I’m invested in these characters, I can’t stand to see them in pain and hurting. Maddie truly is a strong woman. On the flip side, comic relief will be provided by Viking. I just can not with this guy. Smh, the shit that comes out of his mouth. I absolutely love him. I think his book is going to have a different feel from all the previous.
WOW! I loved this second book about my favorite couple from this series. The first book was really hard and brutal, but this one gives us the closure that we needed, or they necessarily needed.
The emotions and feelings that are running like a wild rollercoaster in this book are unbelievable gripping.
Flame’s and Maddie’s story is so never-ending sad and heartbreaking. Two people who went through horrible physical and sexual abuse and tragedies that broke them irreparable and still they got out of the hell that they were put in and survived thanks to each other. Their minds will never be able to forget what they got through, but they try to build a future and that’s more than they hoped for.
Flame the emotionally unstable, broken soul and Maddie, who despite the cruel violence that was done to her, is fighting for her love and life.
She is the stubborn one that don’t want to give up.
She went through hell and doesn’t want to give up when she got a taste of her hard earned heaven.
You’ve to love this woman. Really. She is like a bulldozer that rolls through the problems and refuses to stop until she has her family, her happy ending.
This book, like the whole series, is not for gentle minds, but for all of you with not triggers!, it was a really good book. Creepy-crawly and abusive but really good
P.S. I really hope we’ll get Viking’s story soon
Tillie Cole does it again! First 5 star read of the year.
My Maddie is the 8th installment of Cole’s Hades Hangmen series of dark romance. This is a continuation of Flame and Maddie’s story and should only be read after their first book, “Souls Unfractured”.
I cannot even think of words to describe how I felt reading this book. I cried so hard but yet didn’t want the story to end. Flame and Maddie are two of the most tortured characters I have ever read. Tillie Cole does a fantastic job of not only taking on the most horrific subjects, but making something positive come out of the trauma. This book is not for the faint of heart or someone looking for a sweet romance. Although the love story between these two is so beautiful, the road to that love is paved with heartache and pain and loss.
What an awesome continuation of their love story. I sincerely hope we get to see Flame and Maddie again. They are by far my favorite couple and the Hangmen series is definitely one of the best you will ever read. Highly recommended.
I purchased this book and I’m leaving my review voluntarily.
I have read each book in this series and even though they contain many triggers for some, this book has (talk of abuse and rape, there are murders, assaults, drug and alcohol abuse) , each story does offer hope. And Redemption.
Grab a few tissues and be prepared to love the characters. The author does a great job of pulling you into the storyline. Flame and Maddie are my favorites.
I hope Miss Cole gives us Zane, Ash, Saffie, Viking and Ruth stories too.
Heartbreaking and so so sad.
Maddie and Flame are not a normal couple by any standards, even compared to the other Hangmen they are complex and unique. Their journey was darker than most and Flame has never really healed from his traumas. So it’s no suprise when he has a major setback and has regressed to a point where even Maddie can’t reach him. Ash is also in a dark place and in so much pain. Her family is falling apart and she is in for the fight of her life. It will be unpleasant to put it mildly, you will cry and it will break your darn heart. But it’s Maddie and Flame and they deserve all the goodness and light in this world and I could not put it down.
Wow! This book was everything! Flame and Maddie are my favorite Hangmen couple and this book rocked me! I loved it so much! Flame is such a tortured soul and Maddie really is the strongest of the Cult sisters. Tillie Cole is so phenomenal in her writing and story telling. I also love that we got some glimpses into what Asher has also been going through. It makes me want his book even more now!
in all everything that is Maddie and Flame, i knew this book was longer then a novella but i was expecting it to hit me in feels so much. I should have known better really.
I could have easily read this book in one sitting but my heart couldn’t take it i had to keep putting it down but for me that’s a good thing because it was breaking my heart and i live a book that can do that.
Not only did we get flame and Maddies story but Asher as well and it set it all up for the next book which i am only guessing it will be Vikings, but in all honesty i am hanging for Ashers book what he has gone through and the decisions he made in this book broke my heart even more, as much as i want to hate Rudge it was all Ashers choice and it breaks my heart.
Flame and Maddie of course one of my favourite couples in this series and this book did not disappoint. Yes i know i have said my heart was breaking so many times but i can’t help it especially with flame what he has gone through and what he still holds from his past it just kills me but i love his and maddies relationship and the kind of person she is and she has been through it all as well but the love coming off the pages that she has for flame is so heartwarming.
I could go on and on and about this book their story is one that i will never forget. Loved loved loved this book Tillie Cole as done it again broke my heart and put it all together again.
If your a fan of this series you won’t be disappointed and if you have never started it this is MUST.
Hmmmmm…. This is a hard review for me to write and one in which I kept hemming and hawing over a 3 star or a 4 star (I know, I know. I’m totally in the minority on this one). I’ve read each of the books prior to this one and I absolutely love Tillie Cole and her Hades Hangmen. They may part of the 1% but their hearts are always taken by the women they least expect. The women are the light to their dark. But those Hangmen love hard and they take down the enemy harder. I love them! AND I’ve been a HUGE Flame and Maddie fan since day one. Their journey to get where they are has been nothing short of horrendous and dark, but one in which we can see the beauty that lies ahead for them. Their story NEEDED more than one book (and honestly, I can see more still). But this book just felt too repetitive. Like overkill repetitive. Please don’t hate me FlameWhores.
“My husband, part dangerous killer and ultimate protector, part lost and broken soul forever seeking some kind of light.”
No spoilers here, but book 8 in this series is told mostly in Dual POV from Maddie and Flame (with a little Ash thrown in for good measure). We get to see Flame fall to his knees and hit complete and utter rock bottom. His past comes into play with his future and he can’t get past it. Ash is also becoming a lost cause and I just hurt for the characters. Their past is destroying their future and it was hard to watch over and over and over and over again. We saw Flame fight his demons before, but we had to really watch these demons eat him alive in this book and hold Maddie while she was trying to fight his demons. She was the only one that could help him. But These men need more help than a strong woman such as Maddie. She’s doing it all, but they need someone professional.
I am happy we finally got another piece of Flame and Maddie, but I was also a tad disappointed. The book felt like it needed another round of edits and the repetitious storyline was getting a little cumbersome. I liked the overall story, but if you took the repeating elements away, we could’ve had a stronger and more cohesive book. Or perhaps visited Ash and his issues a little more.
Overall, this was a good book but (and I hate to say it), not my favorite. I will keep reading this series and following my favorite Hangmen and loving my favorite couple in Maddie and Flame, but I’m ready for another story and another couple. Viking….I can’t wait!
These two characters have had my heart since the start of the series. In their first book we watch them embrace each other and in My Maddie, we watch them take on old demons and now challenges. The author rocked it. Putting us in both Maddie and Flames heads….. she broke me so many times but seeing these characters work together, love hard and just be… it was wild. I loved seeing all the other characters that I already love, seeing them tackle their enemies, seeing them battle inner demons. This book totally rocked my socks off and I’m sad to see it over. But I will say, I can’t wait for more of the Hades Hangmen and to get see Viking get his book! 5 amazing stars #2OCCJD

My Maddie was the eighth book in the Hades Hangmen series by Tillie Cole. The series was written to be read in order as the events built on each other as the series progressed.
True to form, Cole didn’t write the expected, except that we could expect a dark theme; otherwise, the door was wide open for anything. Flame and Maddie’s story was written in book three, Souls Unfractured. My heart broke for Flame and what he went through as a child and how it still affected him. It now also broke for Ash, Flame’s younger half brother. In My Maddie, Cole weaved a tale that directly involved all three: Flame, Maddie and Ash. It wasn’t pretty and it wasn’t easy.
Cole reminded us briefly in the first few pages Flame’s childhood, then she jumped to the present. As seen from the previous book, something was brewing in the MC world. An enemy was lurking nearby and it also dominated My Maddie as well.
Although it was well written and well developed, it was still difficult for me to read. I expected the dark, but it still pained me to witness the deep, dark internal struggles within both Flame and Ash. It was worth it to keep reading, but understand it still wasn’t an easy journey.
Cole has several stories still be told and I’m not sure where we’ll be led next. Possibly Viking or even Ash. Either way, I’m all in – but I’d really like to get Ash’s story sooner versus later – he really needs some peace.
PERFECT!! A painfull but beautiful addition to this truly remarkable series.
This book has everything you would expect from a Hades hangman novel and more.
Flame and Maddie are a unique couple, I’ve loved them from the start. And hoped they would get more happyness in their lives, they truly deserve so much of it. Flame goes through so much Pain and despair in this. I didn’t think he would come through it but Maddie truly is an incredible woman and relentless with her love for him and her faith in him. She knows Flame is stronger than he thinks and continues to make him believe every time.
Ash, god my heart broke for him. I don’t know what will become of him and saffie but I’m sure it will be a painful journey for them to get where they need to be. Hopefully they will get the peace they both so much deserve whether it’s together or apart.
Do i want Viking and Ruth to end up as a couple, hell yes! I would love to see Ruth bring Viking to his knees. Love and adore him so much so excited for his story.
I was gripped from start to finish. I went through so many emotions reading this incredible story that I cant even describe them all. Anger, sadness, empathy and happyness were some I felt.
This series just keeps getting more and more embedded in to my heart and soul. There is no other story out there that can make me feel what this series does.
Tillie I am in awe of you hun. Always phenemoanal writing and storytelling but you outdid yourself with this one.
Another phenomenal emotional story that will pull at your heartstrings. Flame and Maddie are absolutely amazing together and I love every minute that they are together. Another 5 Star read that you won’t want too forget. Truly an amazing series that everyone must one click.
