Espionage, secrecy, and thwarted assassination attempts. The only thing more dangerous is being in love… arrowing her directly into the arms of the man who arranged her marriage.
Lord Simon Danbury is no ordinary nobleman. He’s been tasked by Admiral Nelson to organize an elite group of clandestine first sons willing to sacrifice all to protect England’s shores. When an assassination attempt is made on Nelson, Simon isn’t sure what poses more danger, the enemy or the masterfully seductive Gillian.
What is Nelson’s Tea?
In 1801, Admiral Horatio Nelson returned to England to recover from another bout of malaria. While recuperating from his illness, he was tasked by the Admiralty to organize a way to protect England’s shores from Napoleon. My Lord Rogue is a fast-paced introductory novella to this thrilling series sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Read how Lord Simon Danbury and Admiral Nelson organize the clandestine group, code-named Nelson’s Tea.
Why Nelson’s Tea?
Admiral Nelson was never without his tea, even during battle. In this fictional series, Nelson could ask for his tea, but mean his mercenary group, first sons from all walks of life, men beyond suspicion, men Nelson could call to action at a moment’s notice. Determined, disciplined, and dedicated men who’d serve the crown with duty and honor, men willing to die to protect England and the ones they love.

A very enjoyable story that ended too soon. I will need to read more of the series. Lovers torn apart by families reunite after a time. They join forces to defeat the French plans for England.
A great story of characters that you care about, set in a very real and harrowing time of History. I was immediately swept up by the action and the pathos. My heart followed the characters as they walked to the pages of History.
04/20/2021 “My Lord Rogue” (nook) is worthy of more than 5 stars. WOW. Although I need to read another book to learn about Simon’s and Gillian’s happily-ever-after, I am still satisfied with the ending of “My Lord Rogue.”
Due to difficult circumstances, Simon and Gillian did not wed each other. Yet both loved and respected their spouses and were sad at their deaths. The story is very intense, sad and angst-filled yet ends on a note of hope.
Ms. Bone is a marvelous author who weaves a wonderful story. Her words paint a vivid picture of the many scenes. Love and duty were presented as admirable characteristics. Bravo.
Ms. Bone is added to my TBR list.
LOrd Simon Danbury leads an elite force of spies organized by Lord Horatio Nelson to counter Bonaparte’s efforts to attack England. The group is known as Nelson’s Tea as the admiral always had tea ( even in battle). They are 20 of the finest young men in England and this series of books tells their story.
Simon’s father arranged a marriage that would help save the reputation of his daughter, but Simon met Gillian and fell in love. He chose to keep his promise rather than spend his life with Gillian and even arranged marriage with a fellow spy who would care for her.
Lucien, Gillian’s husband taught her how to be a spy and a damn good one. She comes back to London to assist in thwarting an attempt on Nelson’s life. They reconnect but he is still married and will do nothing but work with her
The team is able to thwart the attempt and when Simon’s wife dies he remains steadfast in mourning and still does not consummate his love.
The characters are very well drawn. Simon is just too prudish and needs a tumble to learn to relax. Gillian is a true feminist with skills equal to the men she works with inside the spy game. The supporting characters come and go and are endearing and like old friends..
Surprizes pop up ! Lots of angst about right vs. wrong. Romance.
This is part of a series I gather will feature different men of the team and their talents and foibles and I personally look forward to getting to know all of them.
Lost interest and didn’t finish it.
I like that it had actual historical characters.
I loved the story
Happily ever after doesn’t quite sum this up accurately. The couple end up together, but as spies working dangerous missions, their future is far from safe! God story line and secret society gives twists that tug the reader along wondering, what if?
Original story with themes of loyalty, duty, love of country in backdrop of England as Napoleon appears to be ready to strike. Gives a snapshot into intrigue and spy craft during that period. Sorry story had to end!
This was a wonderful story. Personally, I wish it was longer. I wanted to know more about Lucien and Gillian’s life. But, the intrigue and love story were spot on! Great short read!
My Lord Rogue by Katherine Bone is the first book in The Nelson’s Tea series. I was wiping away tears within the first 8 pages. I can’t even begin to articulate how much I loved this story. It is emotional, fabulously written, and had my complete attention until the very end. The characters, amount of detail, facts, and how the story played out, made for a very believable story. The story flowed nicely and was interesting. I can’t wait to read the rest! This is a story I could read more than once and I have high hopes for the rest of the books in the series.
Gillian Corbett, Baroness Chauncey is a very unusual woman. She and her husband have been working as spies for the English Crown. When disaster strikes she must head to London to save the life of a great man.
Lord Simon Danbury is one of Admiral Nelson’s most trusted spies. He has worked his way up, and given up a lot to help England stay safe in the dangerous times they live in.
This is an exciting story full of danger and intrigue. Our characters are in a very difficult situation that could bring them heartache again.
This is the start of what I’m sure will be a great series.
Gillian Chauncey, Baroness Chauncey, is a master of disguise, trained by her expatriated husband Lucien, a former French royalist, in the arts of espionage. When a dangerous life or death secret lands in her lap, she’s thrust into a perilous world of ticking clocks and desperation. Lord Simon Danbury is no ordinary nobleman. He’s been tasked by Admiral Nelson to organize an elite group willing to sacrifice all to protect England’s shores. When an assassination attempt is made on Nelson, Simon isn’t sure what poses more danger, the enemy or the masterfully seductive Gillian.
This is an updated reissue & a prequel to the Nelson Tea series, which I now can’t wait to read. A well written long novella with very good characters. Simon & Gillian are very likeable, they were in love five years ago but Simon second son of a Duke had agreed to an arranged marriage. He encouraged Gillian to marry Lucien but they still love each other & now are thrown together as members of the clandestine group. The pace of the book is very good & I found myself caught up in the story so much so that I read it in well under a day. This is a great teaser & I now so want to read the series & also to see if they have their HEA. The other members of the group are also intriguing especially Percival.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
