At sixteen years old, I lost my first love, and it shook me to my core. My parents thought taking me out of town for the summer would help me to move on, but I returned home the same way I left: a broken girl who was the last person to see her boyfriend alive. The night before school started back up, I went to an open mic night and poured my heart and soul into a song I wrote for the boy who never … for the boy who never made it home.
That night, I met Elijah, and we had an instant connection that I couldn’t ignore. For the first time in months, I felt alive again.
But the next day, Elijah walked into my drama class…as Mr. Larson, our new teacher.
How was I supposed to go back to the way things were when my whole life had been turned upside-down? And how was I supposed to stop myself from falling for the man who had brought me back to life?
Note: My Lips Are Sealed is the first book in the Sealed With a Kiss series, and the first book of Zoe’s trilogy, which must be read in order.

I really enjoyed this book. It was really hard to put it down. Was very curious to see what would happen next. This book made me envious of the group of friends she has. I loved the support she receives from her group of friends.
This is my first book by this author and I have to say im not disappointed. While on the longer side dont let that steer you away.
I enjoyed reading of these characters and eas able to connect with them on some points which helps reading about them so mich because it makes you feel more. My only downside to this is i wish Zoe was a little older as 16 was hard for me to picture with all she is going through and feeling.
Will be reading more!
This book had me not wanting to put it down. I really enjoyed it and was totally drawn into Zoe and Elijah’s lovestory. An easy story to read and full of emotional highs and lows, I can’t wait to read the next one. Definitely a great read if you enjoy romance and drama. Had me from the first page.
Not what I was expecting when I read the synopsis. BUT not in a bad way.
Did not expect all the emotional ups and downs. WOW so many feelings. I would say that this book is a mashup of a taboo romance and coming of age book and added to that there’s also some mystery sprinkled in there with it all. So basically an ice cream sundae kind of book.
I really loved the storyline of the book, the only negative aspect is that I found it a bit “wordy”, some of the parts were a bit repetitive. But it doesn’t take away from the story.
I’m definitely getting book 2 and I’m excited to see there’s already 10 books in the series.
My Lips Are Sealed (Sealed With a Kiss Book 1)
By Carmen Richter
This book is full of emotion. There are alot of things going on in this story. Zoe’s boyfriend goes missing and she is having a hard time dealing with this so her family leaves for the summer. When she comes back she still feels the same until she meets Elijah. What these two have is forbidden but can they make it work anyway? This book is full of loss, tragedy, friendship, romance, family, hope and more. I laughed, cried, got angry, and all the emotions in between while reading this book. This book may not be everybody’s cup of tea but I thoroughly enjoyed the emotional roller-coaster this book put me through and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I recommend this book.
My Lips Are Sealed by Carmen Richter is the first book in the Sealed With A Kiss series. This is a book that is full of emotion and heartbreak right from the word go. It felt like you went on the journey with the character and experienced those emotions right alongside her.
I did think the story could have done with a little more depth to it. The basis was brilliant – boyfriend mysteriously vanished and announced dead, dealing with the aftermath of that. However it felt like at times the story became a little repetitive instead of detailed. I think if a bit of that had been stripped out and a little more flesh added to the story then this would have been fantastic. However it is the first book in a trilogy so it could be that it is just setting everything up for the next two. I will certainly be willing to give them a go!
My Lips Are Sealed by Carmen Richter is the first book in the Sealed with a Kiss series. Forbidden love is dangerous, but Zoe can’t stay away.
After her boyfriend disappears, Zoe can’t seem to catch up. Finding solace in music, she performs at an open mic night where she meets Elijah. She and Elijah have so much in common, it’s hard to pretend the chemistry isn’t there. Imagine the collective
surprise when they find out Elijah is Zoe’s teacher.
This story is full of twists and turns, and leaves you to wonder how poor Zoe can handle any of it. Betrayal, loss, forbidden love.. It’s a real tear jerker!!
Elijah and Zoe’s story was really compelling. This is the first book I have read by Carmen Richter and I was definitely intrigued. The story was definitely an emotional rollercoaster. It was absolutely an unexpected story you think is just about forbidden love but it turns into so much more. It had lots of twists and turns to keep you turning the pages and staying up late to make it to the end. I highly recommend it! Off to search for book two!
My Lips Are Sealed is the first book in the Sealed With A Kiss series by Carmen Richter. This is the first time I have read anything by this author and it certainly wont be the last. I absolutely LOVED this book and really want to read more of this series right now. The first three books in the series are Zoe’s story and should be read in order.
How would you feel if, after your boyfriend going missing, the first time you go out and enjoy yourself, you meet someone you connect with on a major level, only to go to school the next day and find out he’s your new drama teacher? Well that’s what happened to Zoe.
Will Zoe and Elijah do the ‘right’ thing and not see each other or will they continue to see one another as the connection between them is so strong?
This is a fantastic story that I just devoured and did not want to put down. This book has it all. There is fun and laughter and on the other hand there’s despair and devastation. If you are human and don’t have a swinging brick for a heart then you are likely to need tissues to get through this book.
Zoe and Elijah are both amazing characters and this book has a great group of secondary characters, including Zoe’s twin River, who add a great deal to the story line.
I cannot wait to see what Carmen Richter has in store next for Zoe.
My Lips Are Sealed is an outstanding book! I could not put it down since I read the first page. Zoe goes through more things than most people do in a lifetime and she’s only 17. She meets her true love only to find out that he is her new drama teacher. Are they smart and do not do anything about it or will they risk it all for their love? Carmen Richter had me feeling all emotions throughout this book. It is something that you can easily relate to.
I wish I had the words to properly express my thoughts on this book, but Richter happens to have stolen all the words. She stole all. the.words. Not only in descriptions and dialogue but in the songs and music knowledge base! I now have about 8 different musicals added to my To Watch List.
I think late teens/young adults would really connect well and enjoy this series (there are two other books as well as a novella). There are several themes and plots running throughout the story but love connects them all. The love connection is a bit controversial due to age and job situation, however, Richter does a great job of not glazing over that to have the characters struggle with their own morals along with the standards and judging of society.
Righter also did a very nice job of presenting the struggles teens face everyday: changes in friendship, physical abuse, alcohol abuse, sexual pressure, LGBTQ, suicide, death, secrets, and making the hard choices of what to do with your life; especially if that means choosing between staying with someone you love and chasing your dreams.
I have many remaining questions after finishing this book, hopefully they will be answered in the next one!
My Lips are Sealed by Carmen Richter is book one of Sealed with a Kiss.
Zoe has had a very rough time after the disappearance of her boyfriend so her parents think maybe getting out of town will help. As soon as they get back, Zoe feels the same. Nothing has really changed. That night she meets Elijah and never knew she could feel a connection so strong. She does NOT expect that the next day, Elijah will be at her school, as her new drama teacher. So much unfolds from there starting with the authorities finding the body of her boyfriend and spiraling from there the rest of the story.
I really enjoyed this book! You don’t know what to expect as you’re reading but it’s very tastefully written! Zoe is such a great character it’s hard not to be empathetic of her. Seriously such a great read, I can’t wait to continue the series!
3.5 stars

Zoe has has so much heartbreak for such a young person, but will one chance meeting be the key to unlock the heartbreak and rekindle the life she had before. Can this happen or will it cause her more heartbreak?
Zoe is a teenager with a shocking past, with her boyfriend dying she is plunged into a depression her parents try and help her through the heartache by taking her away for the summer but nothing seems to shake the darkness from her world.
Upon returning back to her home town she decides before she goes back to school the next day to sing in an open mic night and sing a song she wrote about her experiences of the past months, once she has sung she meets Elijah and boy who seems to evoke feelings she thought she could never feel again and starts to think she can live on. The next day she arrives to school and realises the new teacher is her Elijah and what will happen to their relationship and will it be able to continue with is position.
I did like elements of the story, I found that the character of Zoe although she had been through so much made me a little mad at times, maybe it was the age of the character but found it difficult to relate to some of her emotions within the story. That being said the story was well written and developed and had a lot to think about with the contents. I can not believe the initial meeting of the two of them that Elijah and Zoe did not feel the age difference within the language that they spoke to each other or actions.
This is a great story and I would like to read more stories within this series and more books by Carmen.
I really enjoyed this story. Its full of romance and packed full of secrets and lies. The characters are really well written that you can’t help but feel for and relate to.
Zoe I having a hard time in life. After her boyfriend trys to pressure her to sleep with him they argue and then her boyfriend disappears.
After 5 months he is found dead. What happened to him? Who is responsible? After finding out about his death she also finds out he was cheating on her with her best friend which left Zoe completely heartbroken ans destroyed.
Trying to get her life on track Zoe surprised when she is swept off her feet by Elijah. The connection between them is instant and full of passion. Elijah makes her feel alive again but there’s a problem. Elijah is Zoe’s teacher.
Torn between what to do and their feelings, they decide being apart isn’t an option so work at their relationship in secret. But can they keep up the game they are playing and keep their secret hidden or will someone blow their cover?
My Lips are Sealed by Carmen Richter a fraught four-star read. This is number one in the Sealed with a Kiss series, and I am eager for number two to find out what happens next. I know some people will have issues with the ages of the characters and the fact that Zoe is as young as she is, but she is also mature for her age and reminded me a lot of myself at that age, I moved away to a different part of the country alone when I was only a few months older, so I think I had a perspective many wouldn’t about maturity at that age. The thing that blew me away with this story was how the author managed to keep you on your toes the whole story, it’s a long story and the pace and drama just kept going from strength to strength and leaving you needing to know more. This is a compelling story, and I would have loved to give it five-stars, but it was let down in a couple of places. I have to admit though I have very high hopes for the next part of the story.

Holy moly talk about not being able to put a book down is exactly what happened with this one.
I loved how the author kept you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole book.
Zoe has a twin sister River who is also one of her best friends. Zoe and a few of her best friends have a Drama class together and that’s what a lot of this book is about same place where there teacher Mr. Larson (Elijah) is also involved in Zoe’s life. But that’s not where they first met. Zoe is a great singer songwriter actor she does it all.
Zoe is an amazing girl with a great head on her shoulders. She goes through a lot her junior year of high school. Zoe has the best of friends who all keep her secrets and cover for her when she needs them.
I loved how this book had everything death, love, relationships, abuse, drugs, alcohol, sex and cancer. I can’t wait to read the next book I hope it is just as good as this one was.
My Lips Are Sealed is book one in the Sealed With a Kiss series by Carmen Richter. This is part of a trilogy and needs to be read in order. My Lips Are Sealed is a new adult romance but can be enjoyed by all ages. I really got into this story and was quite surprised by the style in which the author wrote the story. The characters were intelligent, yet a little naive. Zoe had a lot going on for her young age. Elijah came into her life at a very pivotal time in her life. There was a little of a lot to this story. A little intrigue, a little tension, a little betrayal, a little teen angst, and a lot of discovery and maturing. The author captures the inner feelings of each character. Some I loved, some I detested. But all provoked thoughts and impressions. The story was well thought out and the delivery was well executed. I felt completely enthralled by this story and felt the impact of all that is this amazing tale. 4 stars.
My Lips Are Sealed (Sealed With a Kiss Book 1) by Carmen Richter. This is a very emotional young adult love story. Its the story of a young girl named Zoe who lost the love of her life at a very young age. She is crushed beyond words and her parents think moving her to a new town will help her get over him. In this new town she decided to go to a local teen hangout where they have an open mic night and sing a song she wrote for her lost love. She meets a guy named Elijah and sparks fly. When she shows up to her a new school she realizes that Elijah is her new drama teacher. She has been thru so much heartbreak already is Elijah just going to add to that heartbreak? This is for sure a forbidden romance but she can’t help feeling the way she does. Will they try to work it out even though they could both get in trouble for the relationship? Read this forbidden love story to find out!
Wow, this was a heavy book. I can honestly say I did not know what to expect when I picked this one up. Carmen Richter is a new author to me and this book caught my eye with the cover. I went in blind and probably that was for the best. I tend to judge books based on topic sometimes and I have been trying to break the habit. I am glad that I did so here but this book is a heavy read that hurt my heart for the main character, Zoe. For only being 16 this girl has been through it, good grief. I wanted badly to reach into my kindle and hug her. Things seem to look up for her when she unleashes her grief in a soul crushing performance at an open mic night but the secrets it creates can only cause more tension and possible pain. Will it be another tragedy for her? I will definitely be back for more in the next book to see how things will progress for Zoe. I am really pulling for her!
