A Few Bobbles But Otherwise Enjoyable
I have read and enjoyed this author’s Regency and Jane Austen fan fiction books, and I have read a few in the Marriage Maker series, which I find a lot of fun. This book easily stands alone (and so can be read at any time), though parts of it would be better appreciated with prior knowledge of the Marriage Maker series. I quite like the two main characters, and I wish that we actually got to see more of the romance growth arc. The book seems to be focused on the hero’s quest to take down a spy ring and its leader instead of the love story part. The book is relatively short, less than 100 pages at Amazon, but the author is still able to create believable, likable, and relatable characters. She was also able to imbue the story with some humor, which I love in most fiction. I did think it was strange, though, as this writer does write a lot of Regency romance, that she didn’t seem to understand the way that English nobility is addressed. I’ll admit that it actually threw me at first, making me unsure of the actual rank of a person. When addressed directly, a duke is called “His Grace,” not Sir (used for a knight) or Lord (used for marquesses on down). It was a little distracting to be sure as well as sometimes confusing. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this installment of the Marriage Maker series by Ms. Hanford.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This was a really well-written story that captured my interest right from the start and I was engrossed till the end. This book has everything from danger and suspense to intrigue and some romance. A fast-paced spy adventure that kept me turning the pages anxious to find out how things end. The characters were interesting and well-developed. Alastair and Bridget worked really well together. The author did a nice job of bringing everything together in the end. An enjoyable read that I would surely recommend!

Suspense, danger and action from the beginning to the end. The main characters were excellent. Bridget and Alasdair were mature, intelligent, astute and used their skills to the best of their ability. This is a fast-paced action adventure. There really wasn’t a lot of romance but there were profound feelings of attraction. The reveal of the corrupt undercover spy was shocking. I did not expect it. The spy also arranged for others to unwittingly work towards his malicious goal. Also, Bridget was told information about her father and brother that would change her life forever. An excellent read. I highly recommend it.
Book three in The Marriage Maker Goes Undercover series a well written story that had me laughing as I read. Alasdair Lochgeal becomes newly proclaimed Duke of Ceann na Creige, after his older brother dies in a riding accident. He is sent to keep an eye on Bridget Sollier and her father. Alasdair is in the Crown’s service secretly, and Bridget and her father might be in trouble. Bridget has a secret of her own. I enjoyed reading this story and want to read more in this series. I loved this book! It started out kinda slow for my tastes and at some points seemed stilted; but once the author brought everything together, it became more fast paced and truly a great, engaging read. The characters were easy to easy to understand and connect with and the romance was true and sweet (no steamy scenes so you don’t have to worry if that’s not something you like.) For a short read, the author truly did a great job of bringing all the elements of romance, spies, and betrayal all into a truly fascinating read. Definitely get around to reading this if you get the chance!
Matchmaker find me a match?
Oh but this piece was entertaining Mr. White is not who he seems and it has Bridget wondering what all is going on. What about the maid can she be trusted? Then there is Ollie, were things alright with her brother? Questions and secrets Bridget has one or two also are in this tale. I loved the interaction between the characters and the ending was splendid full of action. Loved the tale and highly recommend you check it out. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Liked the story of the new Scottish Duke that was a spy who comes to a former spy’s household of “the Dagger” to protect him and his daughter. There was an enemy spy in the Daggers household. The surprise is who the spy is!

She has all he could ever want.
Always in the shadows, Bridget is her father’s eyes when it comes to his secret correspondence, but she knows more secrets than he believes. Her life is about to be changed when a stranger comes to call.
Always in the shadows, Alasdair has given up his former spy life, or so he thought. His new assignment is about to challenge and change his life.
Although not a lengthy read, this clean romantic spy tale is entertaining and absorbing. I whizzed through it in a couple of hours. The main characters work well together and the plot is evenly woven. My Lady of Danger could easily have been longer, but Summer Hanford wisely chose to keep the internal dialogue to a minimum and focus on the world building, the plot, the action and the personalities. The ending and epilogue are both satisfying, and I was actually sad for Bridget and Alasdair’s tale to end.
Content 411: This book contains some fight scenes and a few mild swear words. Otherwise it is a clean read. There is no sex, only a couple of kisses.
Disclosure: I received an complementary copy of this book from the author via Booksprout. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review.
Bridget and Alasdair work well together in this story. She has a hidden depth that no one expects.
He is stubborn but dedicated to his responsibility. He will need to acknowledge a pain buried before things look up for him.
Wished it was longer.

Protected By The Duke
ADULT Historical Regency Romance, Betrayal and Spy Adventure
In His Magesty’s Secret Service
This author needs to study up on the various titles for persons of the peerage and learn how to address them. She wrongly calls a Duke, Sir, which is a title for a Knight.. She also has a military General ( among others) wrongly address Alisdair Lochgeal, the new Duke in this novel as Lord. He is to be addressed as Your Grace, or His Grace, or Duke Ceann na Creige.
It’s quite annoying to read it over and over and I noticed these same errors in the last book by Author Hanford I read, too.
Despite the authors lack of knowledge about peerage titles, the story is interesting, kind of fun and humorous at times, and I did finish it. It’s a quick read novella with not much character development.
