AJ Summer witnessed four of her sisters fall in love and settle down. But not her. She’s stuck in a rut, destined to spend the rest of her life watching from the dugout, kissing frogs. Then one night, she meets a mysterious stranger, who makes her feel alive and realize she’s not as broken as she thought–until she wakes up alone.Sawyer Randall lost everything in a split-second when a game-winning … game-winning play resulted in a career-ending injury. Looking for a fresh start, he settles into the cozy beach town of Jupiter Bay. A chance meeting with a gorgeous woman leaves him restless and anxious for something he swore he’d never want again–love.
But sometimes Prince Charming isn’t who he seems. What happens when circumstances are misleading? Will their love be strong enough to see them through unscathed? Or will AJ be played by the player?
*Though part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone. It is intended for those 18 and over due to graphic language, descriptive sex, and the world’s most inappropriate grandparents.

I have so many emotions swirling around, I loved this book, Lacey is amazing, I was sad that it ended. My kinda Player is book 5 in the Summer Sisters Series and is the story of AJ and Sawyer. Once again Lacey makes you feel so much, it makes you laugh…besides the grandparents Lol the banter between everyone is hilarious!! AJ is a middle school math teacher and Sawyer is a former major league baseball player who had a career ending injury. They meet one night in a bar and there has been quite a bit of drinking done by AJ, there is instant chemistry between them, but things don’t quite go as planned. Fast forward one month and it’s the first day of school and AJ and her other co-workers are being introduced to a couple of new teachers that had been hired during the summer break. One of those is the new PE/baseball coach…yep, Sawyer!!! This book is one of my favorites in the series. Lacey’s talent just blows me away with each book she comes out with, she packs so much into each and every story she writes. I am absolutely without a doubt recommending this book, hell the whole series!! It’s awesome, you will love it!!
I have read every dang book in the sister series, and every dang one of them is amazing. I also might add, that every book gets better and better! All though these books can be read as standalones, as they are all connected. Which is one of the best parts of this series, the characters from previous books keep making reappearances. As I have previously stated, I am a complete Lacey stalker because I mean let’s face it, not many authors can write about completely inappropriate grandparents and siblings, all the while building a love story between the world’s hottest swoon-worthy men, and the most kind hearted, down to earth women ever. Her writing style is completely off the charts and she always leaves you wanting more of what ever her brain conjures, because she just has that way of making you feels so many emotions, including laughing until tears are running down your face. I have enjoyed every single Summer Sister’s book. My Kinda Player included. A.J. and Sawyers story is smoking hot.
A.J. is the hazel eyed goddess that teaches math in junior high. She also helps with the cheer team at her school as well. She spends most of her time out of school, spending time with her siblings. She loves her students but also loves summer time so she can soak up the sun. She has watched 4 out of 5 of her sisters fall in love and get their HEA, and feels like as if that is not in the cards for her.
Sawyer, good God the blue eyed Adonis would get it, and I mean literally and figuratively. He just has this vibe about him, that gives me goosies. After a career ending injury, he is trying to find his balance in this world again. Moving to a new town is just the right thing for him, or so he thinks.
For the first time in her adult life, A.J. feels more alive than she ever has, that is until she wakes up to an empty bed. A chance meeting changes things for A.J. and Sawyer. But what happens when circumstances change, and things are different than they seem? Can A.J. and Sawyer come through unscathed?
I FLOVED THIS STORY SO HARD!!! And every time I read a Lacey Black book, it leaves me in the worst book hangover ever. So thanks for that Lacey!!
5+ Stars for My Kinda Player!!!
What can I say about this book, My Kinda Player Book 5 in the Summer Sisters series, by Lacey Black? It’s a SMEXY, SWOONY, at times ANGSTY and UTTERLY ADDICTIVE read that, once you start you will not be able to put down! Lacey has such a way of drawing you in, making you feel like you’re part of the story…wishing you WERE a member of this crazy, loving, HILARIOUSLY FUNNY family (ESPECIALLY Orval and Emma-the world’s MOST inappropriate grandparents!!!) Every book in this series builds on the story before, adding to the overall AWESOMENESS that is this series!!!
AJ and Sawyer’s unforgettable love story is FILLED with everything I LOVE about Lacey’s books; Chemistry out the wazoo- Laugh-out-loud funny moments (LOTS of them ***see previously mentioned grandparents***)- Heart-stopping angst- SEXY, HAWT-AS-ALL-GET-OUT STEAM- and a satisfying, SWOONY HEA-
All in all, this book is another MUST READ in my very long list of must reads from Lacey Black….I HIGHLY recommend you read it! You will NOT be disappointed!
AJ Summer won’t admit it but she’s a bit envious of what her sisters have found. After many failed attempts at having a relationship, she’s pretty much given up and resigned herself to one-night stands. Never in a million years, did she expect the one she can’t stop thinking of to come back into her life.
Sawyer Randall has accepted his fate of not returning to professional baseball. That his marriage ended when his career did wasn’t really much of a surprise. Imagine his elation at finding the beauty who disappeared on him sitting next to him during his first staff meeting.
This the 5th book in the series and should be read in order as it picks up where the previous book left off.
I love this book! It has some of my favorite things: sexy baseball player from my favorite team, snarky comebacks, and laugh-out-loud commentary by Emma and Orville.
AJ’s independence is very admirable though her breakdown was something I could feel through the author’s words. Sawyer’s reverence for her is swoon-worthy as well as his protectiveness, even when he’s the one hurting her.
I have read all of this author’s works and loved each new one more than the last. I’m excited to get my hands on what’s next!
I must admit that even though My Kinda Player is the fifth book in the Summer Sisters Series it is only the second one I have read. When I read book #4 My Kinda Mess I was hooked. Each of these books can be read as a standalone but I do plan on going back and reading the first three books that I haven’t read yet.
When AJ and Sawyer first met in a bar they planed getting busy and having a one night stand, but things didn’t go exactly as planned. Now it seems that the stars have aligned and brought the two back together to get a second chance, only this time it won’t be for only one night.
Lacey Black is a newish author to me (this is the second book of hers that I read) and she definitely has a HUGE fan in me. AJ and Sawyer are great together, you can feel the chemistry when these two are together. But what I enjoyed even more is the way the entire family is, they not only look out for one another they are there for anything and everything you need. AJ’s grandparents are a hoot, and they remind me of my Aunt and Uncle so much it’s scary…..I think everyone needs a couple like them in their life, it will keep things interesting that’s for sure!
Next up with be Meghan’s story. While I don’t know her entire story I do know this one will be a tearjerker for the simple fact that she will have to come to terms with and move on after the death of her finacee a few years earlier. I look forward to seeing whom she finds her HEA with, will it be her boss and friend or will it be someone new to town or maybe it will be a friend of Sawyers? No matter whom she finds her HEA with I am sure it will be an amazing read just like this one was.
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.**
Where can I possibly start with this book? I’ll just go ahead and throw it out there. Even though there were some serious parts in this book, some parts where I had a few tears in my eyes, and some parts that made me want to smack someone, mostly I laughed throughout this book. Those grandparents are a hoot! And the closeness of the Summer sisters that has been a running theme throughout the series is more than evident in this story too.
AJ is a middle school math teacher, who has had no luck at love. She even tries for a one night stand that definitely doesn’t go the way it should! (Again, I couldn’t help laughing!) Sawyer is a former pro baseball player, who is trying to pick up the pieces of his life and move on, following a career ending injury. So what happens when a middle school math teacher and a former pro baseball player meet up? Fireworks! Add in nosy sisters, inappropriate grandparents, and a crazy ex, and you have all the makings of a fantastic story!
I’ve loved all of the Summer Sisters stories, and this one is no exception. I enjoyed the sparks between AJ and Sawyer, and I loved catching up with the other sisters and their significant others. This story goes beyond a romance, and focuses on family that is always there for you, no matter what the circumstances are, no questions asked. It makes for a story that hits close to home, and brings out all kinds of feelings!
Sawyer Randall is taking a second chance at life. After losing his career as a pro in the major leagues after an injury, he’s decided to put his teaching degree to use. When in town for an interview, he has a chance encounter with a woman that leaves him wanting so much more, but he never even caught her full name and has no way to find her . . . that is until he walk in to his first faculty meeting and discovers she is in the chair next to his!
AJ Summer has watched four of her sisters settle into their happy ever afters. Settling down doesn’t seem to be for her though. She’s in a rut and her dating prospects in her hometown of Jupiter Bay are slim. That is until her chance encounter from an almost summer fling walks into Jupiter Bay Jr. High as the new gym teacher. Sawyer Randall has all the females in the school, both old and young hot and bothered, and AJ is no exception.
Sawyer knows what he wants and makes one heck of a play to get it. But, both AJ and Sawyer have pasts that when brought to light may pull them apart forever. What happens when someone’s past actions seem to go against everything you believe in and present circumstances are manipulated and misleading? Someone is getting played and it’s going to take a whole lot of trust to determine if their love is truly enough to give Sawyer and AJ the chance at a future they both deserve.
My Kinda Player . . . what can I say other than it is simply fabulous! Sawyer Randall is truly a book boyfriend made by the gods. He’s smart, funny, loyal, gorgeous, and he brings his woman a caramel latte and breakfast treat every morning just to see her smile before their school day begins. He’s been hurt in the past, but is truly willing to go all in with AJ if she’ll give him a chance to.
AJ Summer carries some relationship baggage with her, but has found a way to open her heart to Sawyer. It helps that he seems to fit in well with all of her sisters significant others and can handle her always inappropriate grandparents. She’s loving and loyal and everything that Sawyer wants now that he has been given a second chance to do a relationship the right way.
I loved this couple. They were fun and flirty. Their banter was witty and their alone time sexy and steamy as can be. My heart hurt when their pasts started interfering with their chance at a future and I happily admit I cheered for them to find a way to their own happy ever after.
Fans of the series will also enjoy catching up with the other sisters and their lives as well as Emma and Orval, the world’s most sexually inappropriate grandparents. Lacey Black truly hit a home run with My Kinda Player – 5 stars!
My Kinda Player
Sawyer and AJ….love the . While I sometimes thought their make up was a bit rushed the story as a whole was sweet and comforting. I love that Sawyer immediately saw something in AJ. Actually that is how all of the men in this series are. Just grown up fairy tails to make women happy.
I love this series about the Summer sisters. This one is about AJ and Sawyer. I enjoyed this book very much. I liked the “getting to know you” part. I felt like I was in the book witnessing their flirting. This book has a villain that I’d like to strangle. There is a touch of angst in the book. I love the family dynamics. Lacey Black readers will notice a cross over from another series with us seeing Maddox in this one. I don’t think you would have to read the others, but I think you should. Of course, lovers of this series will be glad to know that the grandparents make lots of appearances in this book. Got to love those 2! Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.
