Wall Street Journal bestselling author Tracy Brogan is back with a sweet, hilarious series about family, forgiveness, and what it means to go back home.Emily Callaghan never expected to spend another summer on Wenniway Island. Yet here she is, back in her quaint northern Michigan hometown of Trillium Bay, divorced, flat broke, and dragging along her precocious twelve-year-old. It’s a simple … twelve-year-old. It’s a simple arrangement: Emily, a house flipper, will renovate one of her grandmother’s rental properties in exchange for a much-needed loan. Once a wild child, the reformed Emily also hopes to remodel her reputation and show her family she’s all grown up.
But coming home is never simple. Emily’s dad is more distant than ever. Her younger sister is dating a much older man, and Emily’s worried it’s a mistake. The cottage remodel grows increasingly daunting. And then there’s handsome out-of-towner Ryan Taggert…
Ryan has his own family drama. A smart, ambitious land developer, he’s come to Wenniway to rescue his father from the grips of a new girlfriend and protect their family business. But he’s quickly distracted by gorgeous, witty Emily Callaghan.
There’s no denying the attraction between Emily and Ryan. But will their conflicting interests destroy any chance at love? Or will Emily finally get the chance to rebuild her life—and repair her heart?

My Kind of You
(Trillium Bay #1)
Written by: Tracy Brogan
How did I let so much time pass between downloading this book and reading it?
This was a question I asked myself several times while reading My Kind of You.
Tracy Brogan can write some good comedy! So when by the end of page 2 I had tears from laughing rolling down my cheeks I knew she was going to give all her readers a heck of a good time spending the summer in Trillium Bay.
Emily Callaghan did not want to go back home to Trillium Bay. She had disappointed her father, she’d borrowed money from her great grandmother (GiGi) and she was as close to broke, as one person could be. Not only was Emily coming home, her twelve-year-old daughter Chloe was going to learn about island life. Emily was coming back to help GiGi renovate a rental home, so when she met Ryan Taggert, even though he was handsome and all muscle and easy to talk to, he was the last thing on her mind.
Ryan Taggert came to Trillium Bay on a rescue mission. Find is father, find the floozy and end the nonsense he and his brother’s had been dealing with while their father Tag, worked his way through his grief after losing his wife eight months previous. Hence, finding the floozy who had enamored Tag and wouldn’t you know, it just happens the “floozy” is Emily’s younger sister. Yes, you read that right…younger sister.
Talk about strange bedfellows and family members!
This book had me laughing out loud pretty much on every page, smacking my leg, wiping tears from laughing so much. The story was great, Emily and Ryan were meant for each other, GiGi was a hoot and there was never a dull moment. Add in all the residents of Trillium Bay and the almost daily shenanigans that went on and we have been given the perfect mix of romance, life on a very small island and some of the best lines I have ever read.
Do not pass Tracy Brogan by when looking for an author to read, pick up her books, live them, enjoy them and read them when you need to laugh, I can guarantee you will enjoy every minute of your visit to Trillium Bay!
This was an enjoyable romance. The story centers around Emily Chambers, a woman who has returned to Trillium Bay after being away for years. Emily’s life in San Antonio was disappointing and after a bad investment on a house flipping project, Emily is back home to repay a loan her grandmother loaned her to cover the costs.
Emily is able to reconnect with family and friends and sees the beauty of living in a small town. In addition, this book has parts which are laugh out loud funny, which was just what I needed.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one! Small town romance with quirky characters who were all so special it kept this one moving along. I grew up in Northern Michigan and even though I have been to this island many, many times and recognize all the places referenced I found the changes of the names daunting only because I am so familiar with it, however, I listened to this in audio and just closed my eyes and pictured it and it took me home!
Great characters and setting and a heroine you cheer for!
This is the first full length book I have read by Tracy Brogan. I was introduced to her writing by reading the analogy “Once Upon a Wedding”. I kept seeing her books and wanted to read them, and now that the 3rd book in the Trillium Bay series has been released, and I keep seeing it appear everywhere, I finally decided to begin reading it. I am so happy that I did.
I love Ms. Brogan’s writing style. Her characters are wonderful and believable. I cared about them immediately and was immersed in their story. As in most books the beginning was a little slow, learning who the characters were and the setting, but soon I was swept away into the world on this island.
The plot flows easily and everything falls into place. I read romance for a happy ending, and this book certainly provided me with one.
I am definitely going to continue and read the rest of this series and in time, read the other books Ms. Brogan has written.
Stayed up all night reading!!!
A story of crossing paths, surprise meetings and family. Love the snarky teen and the situations that arise all around.
Ms. Brogan has written another perfect feel good read! This one gave me all the feels!!! This is the first book in her new Trillium Bay series. Ms. Brogan has created a story full of family, forgiveness, and most of all love. Pick this one up! You will be so glad you did!!!
