Michael knows what he wants. He wants a daddy. When yet another attempt at a relationship fails, Michael decides to find himself his daddy. The one man that will care for him, nurture him, and love him for who he is. Twenty-six-year-old and successful in his career, Michael knows he’s missing out on life. He’s a quiet, introverted man with desires that seem too far out of his reach. Until he goes … out of his reach. Until he goes to Escape one night.
Callum is tired of being lonely. He has everything to offer the right man.
When forty-year-old Callum is encouraged to visit Escape, his hopes are high, but his expectancy of finding the perfect man is low until he sees a young man nervously looking around the club. Everything about him ticks Callum’s boxes. Shorter than his six-foot frame with blond curls that cry out to be stroked, and a look of anxious longing on his face. Callum is transfixed.
With only a few words exchanged, the two men are hooked, eager to explore everything they have ever dreamed of. Is this a life they can fulfill, or will they find too many obstacles in their way?

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was ok. He expressed the emotions and used different voices. I had actually listened to book 3 first and both the story and the narrator was better in book 3 but this was pretty good.
The plot kept my interest the whole time. It was a cute story. This whole series is over the top sweet and instalove. Both characters are loveable and very cute together and have great chemistry in and out of the bedroom.
Michael is a little and is desperately in need of a Daddy who will accept him completely.
Tonight will be the night, he picked up all his strength and courage, put on his little clothes, and enters the BDSM club Escape where there’s a Daddy’s night.
Callum got an invitation, from his friend Daniel, for the Daddy night at the BDSM club. There are some new members and this friend told him there will be a perfect boy/little for him. He was correct, one look and they both know this is it.
After the best intense weekend where Michael could be Mikey and Callum full-time Daddy, they want to continue their relationship. All goes extremely well until something happens and Michael runs away.
The author took all the time to write every detail of their relationship, it’s quite well developed. With an engaging way of writing, good outlined, clear, and focused the story was a delight. The focus is on their relationship but we also meet some wonderful friends. The addition of some painful, hurtful moments was palpable which I loved greatly. All the scenes were exciting, there was a nipple scene so delicious painful, I felt it myself. Both men were sweet, lovable, and beautifully flawed. The whole learning process felt honest and convincing. I was glued to the pages.
This was my very first ABDL read, it was an amazing experience, the author did I great job.
This is a book that I wasn’t sure about at first, and then got more invested in as the storyline developed. I think this might have been because Mikey and Callum become a Daddy and his boy within the first few chapters and I wondered where else the story could go.
A strength is that Mikey and Callum are extremely likeable characters. I love that Daddy Callum has a few uncertain moments and isn’t afraid to let Mikey see him vulnerable. Mikey, as Michael, is a successful businessman yet thoroughly embraces his little side. I have read ABDL stories before, but this is certainly the one where it is featured most. I am also intrigued by the addition of the Stefan/Mikey side story and how easily it is accepted and forgiven by Callum.
I enjoyed the narration by Christopher Solon who speaks clearly and at an acceptable pace. I liked his character voices and found it easy to follow the changes in speaker without getting lost. I must admit that, despite the use of words like diaper and binky, I did wonder what the narration would be like with a British accent.
I listened to the Audible version and found that I had to push the speed to 1.3. I loved the idea of the story and think this will be a good series. I did get upset at Michael because he was so upset that Callum didn’t react like he expected and then runs off to scene with some else. It takes friends interference to get them back on track. And then again something goes wrong and Michael is quick to run. I was relieved when “daddy” finally took a stand. It was good to see them finally get past the struggles to find the balance they needed.

My Kind of Man
HeavyLoad! Series, Book 1
By: JJ Harper
Narrated by: Christopher Solon
This is a great M/M Daddy/Little romance. This is not my first M/M romance story nor my first Daddy/little romance but it is my first M/M Daddy/little and my first book written by J.J Harper and narrated by Christopher Solon and each gifted in their art. The book is well written with interesting storylines that grabbed my attention right from the start and held it straight to the end. The characters are complex and nicely developed, I liked both lead characters, Callum and Michael, each had unique and specific needs and I thought they were great together and for each other. In addition to relationship drama, there is some work place and family drama. There is never a dull moment in this book, it is well plotted and there in addition to relationship drama, there is some work place and family drama, some angst, some heartfelt moments and the start of a great romance with some great loving. JJ Harper, thank you for this great story!
I listened to the Audible edition, Christopher Solon is a terrific narrator and voice artist. He brings the character to life, giving each their own voice and personalty. You could hear how much heart he puts into his performance as he captures and projects the character emotions into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen
A very cute and wonderful story that I really loved!
While age play (ABDL) isn’t my most favorite trope to read about, I absolutely adored Michael/Mickey. When he went into little mode, it was such a part of his character that he was easy to fall in love with. Callum was the perfect daddy. He and Mickey meshed so well, it was beautiful. The age gap between Michael and Callum is just about perfect for me. I thought the storyline was a tad predictable, but it in no way took away from me enjoying it. All in all, I enjoyed this book quite a bit. Will I read any more in this series, not sure. I’ll wait and see where the author goes with it before I decide. If you truly enjoy this trope, I would highly recommend giving it a try.
This was very sweet age play ABDL romance. This is my second time reading this type of kink, and inadvertently I was comparing it to the one I read before but it hit me in the middle of the book that every author gives it their own spin, so as soon as I forgot about the other book I read, I was able to enjoy this one to the fullest.
I liked Callum a lot. He is so caring, gentle and kind. He took care of Michael/Mikey so well. His protectiveness and nurturing was in perfect counterpoint with Michael’s need to be cared for and looked after. Daddy/Little time took a bit to get used to since they did it 24/7 but it worked well for them. It was a good balance of Daddy/Little headspace and intimate scenes between Michael and Callum.
Michael craved approval for his desires. He took a leap of faith with Callum, and it paid off after a couple of hiccups. He was a natural when it came to being Little but I wondered sometimes at how emotional he was. Since he was a loner, his need to be praised and taken care of was a bit more intense, and Callum was able to provide it in full, I would say Callum prided himself on the level of care he gave Michael.
I enjoyed all the side characters, and I especially liked that among their friends both Michael and Callum never had to hide, it was natural for them to be open about how they loved each other, and their friends were understanding about their needs. I am curious how other members of Heavy Load going to find their HEA. I recommend it!
