He’s broken. He’s beautiful. He’s a bastard. And he’s mine.Caleb McCabe just returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. He’s shell-shocked. Loud noises make him jump. He feels like an outcast in civilian society. When Caleb meets a gorgeous, fun-loving redhead named Violet, he knows he can’t handle a relationship, especially with a golden girl like her. But that doesn’t stop him from thinking … doesn’t stop him from thinking about her day and night.

She yearns to get close to him, and to begin to heal him. They share a night of passion that’s so hot she realizes she’s not only in lust but in love.
For Violet’s sake, Caleb tries to stay away. He wants her more than he can bear, but he’s afraid of hurting her with his own emotional scars. The problem is, no matter how much he fights his obsession, he can’t stop himself. He has to make her his. He knows in his heart she’s the one.
Caleb and Violet are meant for each other, but will his dark damages get in the way of their Happily Ever After?
My Hero is Book #2 in the McCabe Brothers series and is a sexy standalone novella starring a battle-scarred alpha hero and the sweet, sassy redhead who changes everything.

My Hero is a 3.5 for me. Violet is a Freshman in college studying psychology. Caleb just returned home from a tour of duty in Afghanistan and is suffering from PTSD. When these two see each other the connection is instant. Violet wants to help him. Caleb thinks he will ruin her. These were great characters and I did enjoy the story even though I’m not a fan of instant love stories. I would have liked to have seen more from Caleb’s view point with dealing with his PTSD.
A well written love story that focuses on some real issues. The underlying theme of death and tragedy builds a dramatic plot that causes the main characters to work at a relationship. It does seem a bit unrealistic that it all works out so fast but it makes for a quick read. Highly recommend reading.
A romance with deep issues. War.PTSD. Survival. Death. Suicide. This is Caleb and Violet’s story. Two amazing characters. They are both honest and expressive with their feelings. I really enjoyed meeting them. I loved this book! Well told.
My Hero is the second book in Julie Capulet’s McCabe Brothers series. It focuses on Caleb McCabe, a combat veteran suffering from PTSD, and Violet, a college student studying toward a psychology degree. I recommend this read as it has a plot addressing the contemporary issues of war and PTSD, heartwarming characters, and steamy romance.
I received an arc in return for an honest and voluntary review.
I must say I have been reading books but this authors since she came out and so far she has not disappointed.
Gabe and Violets story is full of pain, struggle and love. Gabe’s ptsd and guilt has him believing he can’t be or make anyone happy, all he wants is to be left alone by everyone but Violet.
Violet is a psychology student who has her own Trumatic past however wants to help Gabe overcome the PTSD and the guilt he feels for what happened in his past.
The author does a great job taking us through their journey of falling in love and overcoming all the obstacles while also giving us a glimpse of Bo and Millie.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Once I started I could not put the book down from start to finish you just could not get enough left you wanting more twists and turns. Caleb is ex-military came back shell shocked, now he jumps with certain noises, then he Violet who is getting her degree in psychology. Caleb does not want to put Violet through his problems.
Thank you for allowing me to review your book.

Caleb is the broken hero any woman would want to heal but only Violet gets that privilege. It doesn’t hurt that she is studying psychology. He’s broken and suffering with his demons and it seems as though Violet is the only one who can stop them. Their connection is amazing and the chemistry is out of this world. I couldn’t put this down. I felt for Caleb so much and Violet’s fun, out-going personality.

I loved this addition to my collection the storyline is well written and flowed smoothly. Violet is a college student while Caleb is a veteran with some issues. I really had a great time with the way the couple’s chemistry play out. A must read.
I received this ARC for a voluntary and honest review.
This book was monumental. Caleb McCabe and Violet Jameson were the best characters. The story pulled at my heart strings. It is a book that many people can relate to. Caleb has just returned from a tour in Afghanistan. He was injured in the line of duty and given time off to recooparate. He has a serious case of PTSD from being in combat war. Shortly after arriving home he meets Violet. Violet is a sophomore in college and studying psychology. It is love at first sight that takes them both by surprise. But can Violet help Caleb overcome his demons? This book is a must read and I highly recommend.
Caleb has injuries into and out from his time at war and is afraid to let anyone get close because of his damage. Violet meets Caleb and thinks she can help him because that is what she has always wanted to be. Loved this sweet romance with Caleb who wants help but does not want to hurt the woman he is growing to love and Violet can not help but fall in love with the man who is suffering from the acts of war.
4.5 Stars
This is book 2 in the McCabe Brothers series and it features Caleb and Violet. This is most definitely an insta-love story but it’s an awesome one! It started quick but smoothed out into a beautiful, well paced love story. Their love was almost a physical feeling for me. It radiated off my screen. He’s got survivors PTSD. She’s got the need to save him that runs along side the strong desire to love him. He’s like his younger brother, Bo, when he found the ONE, he couldn’t let her go.
I’m usually not one to fall in love with an insta-love story but this one got its hooks into my heart and wouldn’t let go. Character growth is steady. There are THREE epilogues! Yes, this author writes amazing epilogues! I absolutely LOVE to look into the future of characters I’ve just read about and see where they are 5 or 10 years later. I can’t wait for Gage’s story!
Caleb has been through trauma Hell seen and unseen. He lost his best friends and brothers in arms. he is broken sublimity. Not only is he gorgeous he is resplendent. He is a man I could see myself loving. Tortured and imperfect. this man! Violet is vivacious and pretty she is the balm to Calebs wounds. They meet and well it was Like at first glance. Violet is Calebs perfect match. I loved this story and can’t wait to see what Julie has instore in the future. Her writing is some of the most spectacular I have read in a long time. She writes subjects that are so traumatic but is so eloquent in her writing that you invest in the characters with your heart and soul. Such a heart rendering story but written so beautiful.

I love Caleb and Violets love story. Caleb is a war veteran and this book deals with some tough subjects, which adds a lot of depth to the characters and the story. This story is also beautiful and sexy!
Violet is a freshman pursuing her dream of becoming a psychologist. She is also the roommate of Millie the heroine in book one of this series. Caleb is home fro. Afghanistan and is dealing with PTSD. These two are made for each other but it will not be an easy path to love. All Violet wants to do is help Caleb but his fears get in the way. Life has a way of putting the right people in your path when you need them and that is what Violet is for Caleb. This story was a perfect combo of sweet and steamy and I did not want it to end! A fabulous read.

This is again a wonderfully beautiful, love at first sight, steaming and heart-warming story written by Julie Capulet. Her books are easy to read and leave you with a good feeling. This is the story of Caleb returning from the war with PTSD. Violet, who you already meet in part 1 of the McCabe brothers series, sees him and is instantly in love. She wants to help him learn to deal with his traumas. Caleb sees her and knows that he must leave her alone so that he does not take her into his world of madness ….. but he cannot stay away from her.
Julie Capulet describes such beautiful intense dialogues, you can feel the emotions coming your way. But always with humor, which does not make the story too intense. Realistic emotions with Caleb from his PTSD and with Violet who learns to deal with it. The re-experiences, the nightmares.
Highly recommended!
This is the second book I’ve read from Julie Capulet, and I am beyond impressed with her writing. When Caleb returns home suffering from PTSD, he never imagined meeting Violet would change his life. While he tries to convince himself that he does not need to complicate her or his life by being together, he cannot seem to stay away from her. Violet was such a cool character because although she has gone through hard things in her life, she does not let that get in the way of trying to help others. As soon as she sees Caleb, she knows she has to keep seeing him. I do not want to spoil anything, but this book is worth reading, and trust me, you will be happy in the end. HEA and a great epilogue. I can’t wait to read everything else from this author.
This is the second book in the McCabe Brothers series. I could not wait to read this one as we get to know all about Caleb McCabe. He is the middle brother of the three. Book one, Hopeless Romantic was about the youngest brother, Bo. Caleb is returning from serving his country as a sniper, he was injured when a mission his team was on went south. Unfortunately, Caleb is returning home still recovering from his physical wounds, still suffering from his mental wounds with a good case of PTSD and just wanting to be left alone. Violet is a breath of sunshine, she is studying psychology with the hopes of one day being a therapist. This is a dream for her since she was seven and she suffered a tragic loss. Can Violet get Caleb to open up and have him see the positives of surviving the mission? The various steps to healing which happen to travel along the same roads as a HEA. What a great story! It touched my heart as the story unfolded with Caleb and Violet beginning to connect, open up to one another and the personal stories/secrets that they hold close. A must read. I absolutely cannot wait to see what Gage, the oldest McCabe brother brings to the series. Enjoy!
My Hero is Caleb’s story in the McCabe Brothers saga.
Caleb is a war veteran that has come home to recover, recharge and lay low. He feels broken and defeated but hopefully returning to his roots will facilitate healing .
Violet has been hanging out with her new roomie Millie who has just found love with Bo McCabe it was a whirlwind romance and they kind of already moved in together! Violet knows the back story of the McCabe brothers but until today she had never met Caleb. Violet is working on becoming a psychologist but she never dreamed she be using her expertise on the handsome brooding man she finds standing before her. He is overwhelming, strong, silent and complicated everything she never thought she wanted …till now!
The moment that their eyes meet their is a unspoken language being shared between them. The immediate chemistry is undeniable . When the fire between them becomes too much will Caleb retreat to safe Violet and himself or can she be the answers he didn’t know he needed ! LOVED their instalove connection !
