I really enjoyed this book. It shows how hard people coming back from the military. Caleb just happened to meet the one person that can help him Violet. Violet’s in college studying to become a shrink and she just happens to have a roommate that’s dating Caleb’s little brother. I can not wait for the next book to come out. I received a free arc copy of the book and I am leaving an voluntarily honest review
Fall in love with this sweet love story. Caleb and Violet come from different worlds. Caleb’s is full of pain. And when he sees Violet for the first time she brings him light. But love isn’t always easy as it seems and will take an accident to bring Caleb back to the light and never turn back. Loved this book and loved that we got to see so far into their future at the end.

Caleb McCabe is coming home from Afghanistan a wounded man, one that is struggling with loss and survivors guilt. The darkness and the pain he carries are almost smothering at times, and it leaves him dying for just a little reprieve. But he questions rather he deserves it or not, he still has a life to live and his brothers in arms don’t. He is a man in desperate need of saving…
The moment her eyes land on him she sees the vulnerabilities lying just below the surface, and the pain he shields himself with, and she wants to help him. But first she has to convince him to let her in…
The pages of My Hero hold a heartbreaking story of loss, healing, new beginnings, and love. These two find each other by chance, but it’s Violet’s persistence that holds them together. She knows that Caleb is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders and has seen things that no one should ever have to experience, and she wants to help him find himself again. His guilt and pain are eating him alive and he has no idea how to deal with it. All he knows is that when she is around his world seems a little calmer… but he can’t possibly bring her into his world. Or can he?
From beginning to end this one had my heart in my throat, it’s words were so palpable and moving. The story they told broke my heart in a million pieces, but by some miracle, put it back together again by the time the last page came. There wasn’t a moment that I wasn’t feeling something, whether it be their pain, their hopes, or their love. If you like stories that tear at your heartstrings then I have no doubt you will love what you find between the pages here… it was non-stop torture, of the best kind! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Caleb & Violet’s journey was in way an easy journey, but it was worth it in the end. From the first page to the last, I was captivated. Caleb has been through & seen so much while deployed. I loved that Violet didn’t back down against Caleb. She was willing to fight for them.
Caleb & Violet were just what each other needed. I loved how imperfectly perfect they were for each other.

Another one bites the dust!
I loved the first outing in the McCabe Brothers series so I had high hopes that this would have the same ‘insta love’ of that and it didn’t disappoint. Caleb comes home from his tour of duty suffering from a case of PTSD and survivors guilt believing he is broken and not worthy of love. Violet, as a psychology major with a desire to ‘fix’ the broken souls in her life, is the perfect fit to soothe his scars.
I had to laugh at the third brother wanting to bring his own drinking water when he came home to visit, he clearly thinks his brothers fell too hard and fast for the women in their lives!
I’ve read a lot of Ms. Capulet’s books and keep coming back for more as they are easy reads, that get you hooked and keep you riveted to the end.
Again, I can’t say enough good things about this book and this writer. It was beautifully written and so intense. I loved the characters and the story just sucked you right I . I can’t wait to read Gage’s story next.
Loved this insta-love story. Just like bo and Millie his older brother Caleb is lost for words after meeting violet. This story is at lightly darker with his ptsd and recent return from war but it is great nonetheless. They have their ups and downs and it is linked around his issues and not wanting to bring her down with him. But she has not always had a sub shiny life and she puts out. I really liked this story and how it pushed the idea to try to keep working and living and talking. A lot of people suffering shut down and don’t get help. Loved Caleb and violet. Can’t wait for gage.
Sad and Beautiful at the same time.
Caleb comes back Afghanistan injured and with severe PSTD. He doesn’t want to be around anyone.
Violet is studying to help people just like Caleb. There attraction is immediate.
He’s spooked-looking and stormy. Like a hurricane of emotion and issues and all kinds of crazy baggage just stepped into the room and stirred up the vibe.
This story is short and incredibly heartbreaking in places. Another incredible edition to the McCabe Brothers series.
Julie Capulet has a wonderfully captivating way of weaving a beautiful love story with deep seeded connections to PTSD and loss. This book dives into the after effects of post-war PTSD – Caleb is going through some really dark times. Violet is the light – he knows it the moment he meets her and doesn’t even speak. She is drawn to Caleb – each and every damaged piece. I lived these emotions with the characters. The love scenes were so HOT – whew! Short little read – but really deep. Bring the tissues. Recommend! Now on to Gage – can’t wait to see how this goes down!

Caleb is a beautifully broken hero who has experienced trauma in both life and through his service in the military. He if shrouded in darkness as he tries to reenter society after recovering from a war injury. Violet is like sunshine; mostly happy and optimistic despite having her own shadows. They feel an instant connection, even without speaking. I love that from the beginning, Caleb is protective of Violet and recognizes that he is in a place that feels too dark for her. But he underestimates her strength. Violet is young but strong and determined. They fall hard and fast for each other, and I love that. Their physical passion is scorching hot. My heart aches for Caleb as he comes to terms with the amount of healing he needs to achieve after everything he has been through. I love that they tackle healing together and that Violet helps and supports him. At one point he calls her his dream angel and I swooned out of my chair. This author does an amazing job generating a believable instant connection and super steamy physical scenes. They have to work for their HEA, but their instant love is strong, and their future is bright. This book is written in first person from a dual POV.
Violet is majoring in Psychology in college. She’s known since she was a little girl what she planned to do with her life and unlike the dreamers in class she is highly focused on her professor. Their current focus is PTSD.
Caleb is on his way home after being discharged after injuries he incurred in Afghanistan. He 3 best friends didn’t make it home. He wished he could turn back the clock and he was the one dead instead of them. Why does he get to live when they don’t?
Another great book by Julie Capulet! Besides their amazing sexual attraction, Violet and Caleb connect because of shattering losses from the past. I love the continuing story of the McCabe brothers. Their total dedication and obsession with their women. I can’t wait to see who puts Gage in his place. Highly recommend this book and Julie Capulet!

STORY:
I really like this brother. Although Caleb came back from marines and suffers from PTSD, it was good seeing Violet trying and able to break down his wall. For this story, I like the mental and emotional aspect of it. It wasn’t hard core deep, but it was enough for me to enjoy. Violet, was sweet, and I’m glad the author chose her for Caleb. I enjoyed her in book 1. The story still flowed quickly but was good for me.
CHEMISTRY:
Violet’s and Caleb’s chemistry was nice.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS
We met the third brother, Gage, in this book. Can I just say, jerk when it comes to women. It makes you curious about his story. Because he is the oldest, I definitely thought his story would have been first.
Overall, a nice read. Could be a trigger for anyone who suffers from PTSD.
***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read and hope this review was helpful.
This 2nd book in the McCabe Bros Series is about Caleb McCabe, Bo’s brother. We read Bo and Millie’s romance in the 1st McCabeb Bros Series, Hopeless Romantic. Caleb is a soldier who has just come home after being wounded. He sees Violet Jameson, roommate to his brother’s girlfriend Millie, on the day he arrives home. Violet is wildly attracted to him! She is studying psychology in school and feels an overwhelming need to help him with his PTSD due to a tragic event in her past.
The insta-love that Julie is so well versed at writing is exactly what was called for in this book! I loved the interactions between these two! Their intense conversation and steamy sexy times were off the chain! The two find their happily ever after and we are treated to not 1, not 2, but 3, YES, 3 EPILOGUES! I LOVE EPILOGUES!
This story is awesome and much like book one it’s an easy read. It has very little angst and you don’t have that feeling like the other shoe is about to drop. Caleb, like his brothers is rich and handsome but unlike his brothers easy uncomplicated life he has darkness and pain. He’s an ex marine, he’s been hurt in combat and he’s lost his best friend. He’s also battling PTSD, he hates himself so how can anyone love him? Violet is barely nineteen and a freshman, she’s going to be a psychologist someday. When these two meet its explosive and hot as hell. They’re so good together, this story is romantic. I loved this book as much as book one and I highly recommend it. Can’t wait to start reading book three.
This is book 2 in the McCabe Brothers series and picks up the story of Caleb McCabe, Bo’s brother, as he returns from a tour of duty in Afghanistan where he was injured by an IED. On his return he runs into Violet Jameson and his brother’s girlfriend Millie at the house. Violet, a psychology major, instantly picks up that Caleb is haunted by what he’s endured and is suffering from PTSD. This story is emotionally charged as the two navigate the tumultuous waters that go hand in hand with the emotional turmoil PTSD can inflict on our soldiers and their loved ones. Julie Capulet does a marvelous job of intertwining this with the tale of insta-love and enough heat to keep romance junkies on the edge of their seats.
Opposites attract even when they fight it
My Hero is the second book in the McCabe Brothers series and is the story of Caleb McCabe and Violet Jameson. Caleb is the middle of the McCabe brothers and is Bo’s brother and Violet is Millie’s friend and roommate, Bo and Millie’s story is in Hopeless Romantic. Caleb is definitely having a hard time integrating back into his life now that he is stateside. He suffers the effects of PTSD and does not feel like he belongs anywhere. But when he meets Violet there is an instant attraction and she sparks something in him again. Violet is going to college and studying psychology. When she meets Caleb she is attracted to him but she also shortly recognizes that he is suffering. As she has some knowledge she thinks she can help him, sorry but a little knowledge on PTSD can be a bad thing. But for Caleb he has made his mind up that he cannot be with Violet and there is some back and forth on this matter between them. When Violet ends up in the hospital after a car accident Caleb rushes to be by her side realizing just how much he does want to be with her and how much she has come to mean to him. But a peeved off Violet is not to sure about things?
I enjoyed Caleb and Violet’s story much more than the first book. I thought that the author did a great job with the way she wrote about PTSD. There is a lot of melodrama and angst in this story but it also has heart and caring. A story-line was nicely developed and the characters were well written with depth and emotion, and also a nice amount of sizzle and pop.
I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Book 2 of the McCabe Brothers was simply amazing. The depth of Caleb’s character really broke my heart as he relives his experiences in his memories and nightmares. Violet is awesome at trying to help Caleb recover, and is tenacious enough to do so. The chemistry between the 2 was explosive, leading to some pretty sexy steamy scenes. What I really enjoyed was weaving bits and pieces of Millie and Bo (from Hopeless Romantic, McCabe Brothers Book 1) into this story so that I could still read about my favorite characters. This collection is a definite must have in any library!
I received a free advanced copy of this book and am leaving a fair and honest review.
I received a copy of an ARC in exchange for an honest review
This book continues the story of the McCabe brothers. It is a very heartbreaking and beautiful love story This book deals with very real and heartbreaking issues. It is very well written by Ms. Capulet!! She handles the heartbreak in a very real and tender manner. This is well worth the read!!
The POV shifts between Caleb and Violet.
This is Caleb and Violet’s story…..
24 year old, Caleb is the middle McCabe brother. 5 years ago, his parents died. They left the brothers very wealthy. Each brother grieves in a different way. Caleb has chosen to enlist.
After a year in Afghanistan, Caleb comes back with PTSD, and is haunted by his memories. This includes the death of his best friend, Logan, in which he blames himself for.
Violet, a college freshman, and the roommate of Millie (whom is the girlfriend of Caleb’s younger brother, Bo, from book 1.), is happy in her 1st year of college. She has 3 overprotective brothers, and has never been able to date….until now Her goal is to become a licensed psychotherapist.
When Caleb returns home, after being in the hospital from his physical injuries, he sees 2 girls (Millie and Violet) lounging by the pool.
For a minute, he is drawn to Violet, and she stops him in his tracks. She is also drawn to him and the sadness she sees in his eyes.
Both, Violet and Caleb, have heartbreaking pasts. Can they get through all of their heartbreak together, and find room in their hearts to love again??
You’ll have to come and find out
It’s not often a book brings tears to my eyes, but My Hero did just that. Capulet writes with such emotion that it just oozes from the pages and every now and then it overtakes you. This is a beautiful story about two very damaged people who come together in passion and find an everlasting love. Caleb is the best looking guy on the planet, but inside he’s a mess; Violet decides she’s going to heal him, all the while realizing that perhaps she needs to heal herself as well. This is a story you won’t find as one of the cookie-cutter romances – and that leads me to wonder if Capulet may have had some healing experience of her own. I love this book and definitely want to read the other two in the McCabe Brothers series.
OMG. I completely loved this book. It’s perfect despite some triggering memories from Caleb. I felt like I wanted to give him a huge(or a couple) of bear hugs all the way through. No one should have to go through what he did. He is honorable, sweet, kind, and guarded. Violet is determined, stubborn, beautiful, and lovable. An attractive couple as well as strong and loving. Its the love we long for, I believe that with my whole heart and soul. I can’t wait to read the next one.
