The shy ones are diamonds in the rough.QUINN THOMPSONWhen I walk into a room, the popular kids whisper about me. I don’t own designer clothes or name-brand shoes. I don’t wear low-cut shirts or tons of makeup either. I’m as plain Jane as a girl can get. I live on a farm, where the uniform of the day is boots, jeans, and a T-shirt unless it’s winter; then I trade my T-shirts for heavy sweaters and … boots, jeans, and a T-shirt unless it’s winter; then I trade my T-shirts for heavy sweaters and a parka. Baggy is my style.
But I’m considered one of the nerds in school for reasons besides my wardrobe. I have my nose in books while the popular girls have their noses up jocks’ butts. I do everything I can to avoid the in crowd at Kensington High–until a new boy waltzes in. He’s tall like my brothers, handsome like Zac Efron, and disrupts my belief that boys only want one thing. My only problem is he’ll never notice me, not if my arch-nemesis has any say.
MAIKEN MAXWELL
Basketball has been my life until my dad died. I’m trying not to get depressed, but it’s hard to breathe sometimes. He’ll never cheer from the stands at any of my basketball games or shout at me to shoot that three-pointer. I promised him I would step up if anything happened to him, and now it’s time to be the man of the house.
Only I’m torn between playing for the Kensington High basketball team and finding a job–until the girl with butterscotch hair snags my attention. She’s pretty, quirky, and her presence takes my mind off my troubles. Above all else, she makes me feel things that I’ve never felt before. In my mind, girls are just a distraction. They’re nice to look at, they talk too much, and they’re extremely pushy. Yet Quinn Thompson might change my opinion that all girls are created equal.

My Heart to Touch (A Maxwell Family Saga Book 1) by S.B. Alexander is a wonderful story that I have read. This is book number one a wonderful start to a brand new series writen by a brand new author for me to read. I highly recommend it to all.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
First off I loved this book. Loved that it’s YA. And a YA I’ll let me girls read 🙂
This book keeps you entertained through the whole book. It keeps you wanting to turn the pages. The ending makes you wish the next book was available already.
I love Maiken. He’s a great character. I loved watching him grow in this book and I know he’s only going to get better with the next couple books!
Quinn is the shy girl. She tries to stay out of the spotlight but that isn’t always easy when people have put a target on your back. But Quinn is strong and determined to not let people drag her down.
I really hope that Liam and Celia get a book!! Carter too I guess even though he’s really protective. I can’t wait to read the next book and see what happens next!
Well I have been dying to read this book since the announcement of a Maxwell boys spinoff series. I can definitely say it was worth the wait!!! S. B. Alexander does not disappoint. Her characters are so well written, and you can’t help but like the two main characters. I just wish there was a little more romance between them, but maybe we have to wait for book two for things to build more. She wrote in the perfect “mean” characters! If I could have reached into my kindle and slapped them, I definitely would have!! The parents, the siblings, everyone was so interesting. Then seeing Kade Maxwell so involved, i kept thinking what a great dad he’s going to be! We even had a few scenes with Lacey!
The pace moved right along, i never found myself getting bored. Just the opposite, I didn’t want to put it down, especially once i really got into the story. I think the overall plot was very relatable to young adults that age. The shyness, dealing with loss, bullying, pressure in school, etc. But I’m interested to see where the storyline picks up next. How much more bullying can kids take before they stand up and….what? I’m wondering what will happen next?? I’m very excited to read the next book and find out!!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book to anyone who enjoys YA Romance!!! S. B. Alexander is a phenomenal writer and you won’t be disappointed!!
I love the Maxwells and was so excited to hear that we were going to a spin off series! This is a cousin of the Maxwell brothers, Maiken Maxwell and his siblings. This is Maiken and Quinn’s story which maybe 2-3 books plus the siblings as well.
Maiken and his family move to a new town due to a death in their family and start working on the Thompson Farm. This is where we will meet our quiet, sweet Quinn Thompson. Of course this is YA but will have some bullying and angst thrown in the midst. I love this book and cannot wait to meet the “New” Quinn!
Maiken and his family moved in with his aunt and uncle after his father passes away. Trying to be the man of the family, he gets a job at Quinns family farm to help his mom.
Quinn is the quiet shy girl, that draws his attention. This story is about teenage angst ,friendship, and fitting in.
I recommend this YA for all ages
Heather Downey and Parker Douglas narration is very good

This was a great story that really depicted life for a regular girl in high school. Quinn isn’t popular. She is actually bullied by the most popular girl in school, her arch nemesis. She spending her time focusing on her studies and then helping at her family’s farm/store. She has dreams of ice skating, but that’s another thing her arch nemesis seems to be trying to ruin for her. Maiken is new in town. His large family is staying with more family after the passing of his veteran father. He is all everyone at school can talk about. Then he meets Quinn and he only has eyes for her. But the girl that hates Quinn is set to prove that Quinn is no good and she’s the best pick. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Because that same bully girl’s brother is making Maiken life hard on the basketball team. Maiken has to fight for what he wants while trying to show his first crush how he feels. This is a clean young adult romance. I saw a lot of my own teenage self in it. I couldn’t start the next book fast enough. These narrators were the PERFECT voices for Quinn and Maiken. I’m invested!
This book was such a sweet high school romance! I loved the new guy in town/ shy girl thing we have going on here in this story and add some overprotective brothers and a bully and you have a really good recipe for a romance. I enjoyed this book so much and look forward to more of the Maxwell family.
My Heart to Touch by S.B. Alexander is a sweet young adult romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Heather Downey and Parker Douglass. This is the first book in the A Maxwell Family Saga series.
This is the first book of S.B. Alexander’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Quinn and Maiken. I really enjoyed that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series My Heat To Hold to be released on audio so I can get more of Quinn and Maiken’s story.
Heather and Parker did an amazing job on the narration. Their voices were perfect for Quinn and Maiken with them only being sixteen years old in the story.
I would recommend this book to any one who loves coming of age, young adult, or sweet romances.

First, it’s important to know that this is a young adult novel. And by YA, I mean young- the kids are in high school and they are just starting the transition into adulthood. This book details the meet and eventual development of a relationship between Quinn and Maiken. I thought it was adorable how Quinn was so nervous around Maiken but I did wish that, with time, she became stronger. I’m thinking that as this saga progresses, we will see her grow into a stronger character and hopefully, Maiken helps her.
Speaking of that, this story is not complete at the end of this book (I should have guessed that given the “Saga” title!) So be aware that future books need to be read in order to get closure.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it. The narrators, Heather Downey and Parker Douglass are new to me and honestly, their voices are really young which was perfect for this book. I mean the casting was excellent. And in fact, I really felt like the narration immersed me more in the story because they did a great job and felt so perfect for the roles.

My Heart to Touch
A Maxwell Family Saga, Book 1
By: S.B. Alexander
Narrated by: Heather Downey, Parker Douglass
We all know that feeling of seeing the boy we think is out of reach. This touching young adult story captures all those feelings and more. Quinn lives on a ranch. Not part of the popular crowd, she stands out as a farm girl. a little nerdy and the one the girls like to put down. She never though someone like the popular Maiken would take an interest in her. After all, he is good looking, a good athlete and every girl wants a piece of him. She may have judged a little too quickly. Maiken has some baggage of his own to work through, and dealing with those shallow people is not part of the deal. When he sees Quinn, he finally feels something and working at her ranch may be the medicine he needs. This wonderfully written, sweet romance touched my heart. SB Alexander deals with relevant issues happening today in schools as well as the budding new romance between these two. It’s my first listen of her books, and she has me hooked. I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us with the other Maxwell family members.
The narration of this story is perfectly cast. Young sounding narrators are not easy to find, and Heather Downey and Parker Douglass have the sound that I would associate with this age bracket. But what I really enjoyed is the emotions these two put into their characters. It’s a tough age, and they used inflections in the voices to create the angst and playfulness of this age. I enjoyed them and look forward to more.

This was my first S.B. Alexander’s book, and won’t be my last. This is the first book in the Maxwell Family Saga, a YA Romance, and a spin-off of the Maxwell Series (Kade, Kelton, Kross, and Kody). This is the first part of four in Quinn and Maiken’s story. The storyline is intriguing, filled with bullying, and drama. Quinn is such a lovely and smart young woman. Maiken is strong, supportive, and protective. The characters are well developed, and interesting. The cast of supporting characters is impressive : Quinn has two brothers overprotective. Maiken has seven siblings, and several cousins. Celia, Quinn’s best friend, is a great supporting character. I like the friendship and the family bonds in this story. Heather Downey and Parker Douglass did a good job with the narration. #PinkFlamingoProductions #TheFlock #ALC
This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by S.B. Alexander. I have mixed feelings regarding the book. Knowing this was a “Maxwell Family Saga”, I realized there would be a continuation; therefore, a cliffhanger as such. I expected it to be about he whole family rather than focused on one couple though. It did end as a HFN for Maiken and Quinn, as they are only sophomore high school characters.
Their story had a bit of a slow start. At first I wasn’t sure I’d continue. But I love stories that include close knit family members and chose to push through. Quinn’s brothers were characters that could have been great. But they irritated me more than anything, especially Carter. Liam did grow on me by the end. Maiken’s family situation touched my heart. By the end of the book, I was pausing it less and less. I look forward to the next book to see where the author takes the storyline.
Heather Downer & Mark Sanderlin were the narrators for this book. Their performances were well done. It was the first time for me to hear either of them. I’ll be looking for more of their work. They were perfect for this story.
*I received an ALC of this audiobook and this is my voluntary and honest review.

My heart to touch
Quinn and Macon
Young first love is so endearing.
This high school romance has a great story for both characters and some usual high school antics. It gets you in the feels. I would recommend this book. I enjoyed the narration as well.
Sisters Spotlight
Love the Maxwells. I happened upon this book while looking for others. I didn’t know there were other Maxwell hotties. I can’t wait to read more of their stories.
My Heart to Touch is a beautiful romance! I can relate to this story soo much! I couldn’t put it down. It’s my favorite read by this author!
Loved this Maxwell story spin off of Maiken and Quinn’s journey. This sweet romance had me wanting to see what would happen…now to wait for book 2 to see how Maiken and Quinn’s journey continues!!
Until I read the first Maxwell series by this author, I never enjoyed reading about the angst of high school teenagers. Most books have too much language for my taste, and underage sex is the central theme. But S. B. Alexander captures all of the insecurites and petty jealousies (that I remembered feeling) with strong plots and wonderful characters. This new Maxwell family series centers on cousins who have lost their father and have moved to make a fresh start. Maiken, the oldest of his siblings is trying to step into his father’s shoes who was killed overseas. Quinn is a shy sophomore who is on the receiving end of years of bullying. This book brings out the subtle and blatant tactics that is often used in bullying. I cannot wait to read the continuing story of the Maxwell cousins.
If you aren’t familiar with the Maxwell series by SB Alexander, don’t worry because you can still read this book and not feel lost at all. I loved Maken and Quinn! Quinn is the epitome of a good girl. She always does what her Mom and Dad said and never complained to anyone about anything unless her brothers were involved. Her brothers are very over protective and I thought they really meant well but they had a tendency to take it too far. Maken is still reeling from the unexpected death of his father. He and his family move to be near his uncle and aunt, the Maxwells, until his mom can get their life back together again. He and his siblings are struggling in their own way and I know as we get to know each and every one of them, they will leave an indelible mark in our hearts just like the Maxwell brothers did. Maken sees Quinn for who she is and knows she is the only one for him. Maybe even his forever. Quinn instantly likes Maken but is hesitant because she feels that he wouldn’t look at someone as plain as she is. Quinn is such a beautiful character that I just instantly knew was perfect for Maken. They are very young and just starting their lives and it will take some time and growth for that love to flourish even more than it already has. This book is a sweet, emotional romance for any age. Yes, there may have not been as many steamy moments like in SB Alexander’s past books, but it wasn’t needed here. These two are just starting their forever romance and if I know anything about this author after reading all of her books, their road to forever will be bumpy but worth it in the very end. I cannot wait to see where this takes them. Yes, I love all of the other books, but this one is special. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
This book was so good and I am routing for Quinn and Maiken all the way I can’t wait to see what happens in the next one such a great read and enjoyed in from start to finish
3.5 stars.
We have Quinn and Maiken. He’s new to town with his family and she’s lived her whole life there. They’ve both never dated, for different reasons, so when attraction sparks they don’t know how to initially handle it. Too sweet.
This was a fun read, filled with teenage angst and trouble. I hated that mean girl and her brother and loved Maiken’s siblings. 🙂 I’d love to hear more of them in the future.
I wasn’t a fun of Maiken’s possessive attitude, tbh. He thought of Quinn as his, yet he never verbalized it and acted all macho on her, getting angry when someone (read: Chase) talked to her.
I was also surprised by Quinn’s conservative views on boys and girls, which I get, since it was her parents views; but I disliked her brothers a lot, actually (Liam maybe a little better). Never letting her do anything and pretty much doing the contrary to what their parents taught them (do you really think they went to parties just to dance?). I hated how they treated her and felt they were hypocrites when it came to ‘scolding’ her on her actions. Just wasn’t a fan.
Still, it was an overall fun story with ups and downs.
*Thank you to the author for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*
