The next chapter in the Bewitched and Bewildered series is about to begin. Meryn and Beth have been summoned by Beth’s uncle and council elder, Magnus Rioux to the vampire’s pillar city of Noctem Falls. Meryn in a city of vampires, what could go wrong? Aiden and Gavriel are about to find out. Eva Mae Miller has been around for a long time. But never in all of her centuries has she ever had to … turn to vampires for sanctuary. But when whole paranormal families begin disappearing in her quiet Texas suburb, Eva knows that it’s time to set her pride aside and join the other refugees heading to Noctem Falls for protection. Adriel Aristaios doesn’t know what to make of the small human his commander is mated to. Bethy assures him that Meryn is sane, but he’s not so sure. Magnus must be out of his mind bringing a pregnant human and precious Bethy back to the City of the Night, just as things are about to get ugly. To complicate matters he’s pretty sure the sassy, blonde shifter who has just arrived is his mate. How can he possibly do his duty and protect their Prince, when he has not only his commander’s mate and little Bethy to guard, but also the woman who has stolen his heart. When racial tensions threaten to boil over and sink the city in chaos, Adriel surprisingly finds himself relying on wacky little Meryn and his mate to help keep things from turning violent. But as more information comes to light, it’s clear that someone is out to destroy his city. The question is will they find them in time?

Sebastian is a real treat. His reaction to having Meryn in the family and having two children is amazing. Adriel found his mate fairly quickly. She seems pretty cool. This. Is. Sparta! Baby Keelan’s. Meryn’s getting better at politics, which is a good thing. I wish there was a Serial Killer Word of the Day app or newsletter. Good to know it takes nearly dying to have the Ambrosios problem brought to light. Seems like the lion is about to get his mate.
The truth will set you free
I just can’t stop myself from reading this series over and over again. I especially enjoy this book as we meet new people and get to investigate a new city. That doesn’t mean our favorites are left behind, what would this series be without the alpha unit. I have read it many times before, but I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
This was the first book to take place outside of Lycaonia, as some of our main characters headed off to Noctem Falls at Prince Magnus’ request. We were introduced to a whole new unit of warriors, including the unit leader, a vampire named Adriel… and his new mate Eva Mae.
Neither character is at the top of my favorites list, but with so much exposure to Meryn, Aiden et al in this book, that didn’t take away from the enjoyment of the story. Having said that, I do wish there would have been a bit more development into our new characters. With Alpha Unit, we were brought into each of their stories – warrior and mate alike – and truly felt like we knew them, but that seemed to be lacking a bit here. Again, not upset at the inclusion of our previous main characters, I just can’t help but feel like I would have liked the newbies more if they had been a little more developed.
The plot didn’t progress much further this time around, as it was focused more on an understanding how the units and politics work in the vampire city. Still, it was an enjoyable read with just as much hilarity as the previous books, especially in any scene involving Meryn and Magnus together.
Love this series
Love Noctem Falls, Beth’s home town. Love the members of Eta Unit. It’s going to be fun watching them find their mates, and hopefully Magnus finds his to. Loved Adriel and Eva’s story. Aiden, Meryn, Gavriel, Beth and of course Ryuu are in Noctem Falls visiting Beth’s family and to secretly help Magnus. Families are disappearing in the area. Eva’s pack is attack on the way to Noctem Falls, by invisible farels. Eta Unit comes to their aid. Many vampires in Noctem Falls are hot happy with having the wolf pack in their town. A fun humorous and fast paced story. Meryn finds herself young twin witch minions, who remind her of Keelan. Love Nigel and Neil. Looking forward to Declan’s story!
My all time favorite series. The main character Meryn is feisty, unpredictable, hilarious, loyal, and absolutely devoted to those she cares about, Aiden, the elite unit soldiers, her peeps, her minions and her many adopted family members. Ms. Alder cannot write fast enough for her fans, myself included, and we console ourselves by rereading the series to get our Meryn fix. I doubt there will ever be another character as wonderful as Meryn…
Alanea Alder is great at writing books that have me cracking up. This book was just as funny as the others in this series. I really love me some Meryn so I love that she was a big part of this book. I know some readers would like each book to be just about the new couples but I really enjoy Meryn and the on going plot. It kinda remembers me of another series I love were the first couple is a main focal point…. Vampires in America(Cyn and Raphael). I will say the couple Adriel and Eva are a total insta-love couple. It didn’t bother me though as I can accept that pretty easily in paranormal romances. I did wish there was a little more relationship development with Adriel and Eva which is why I gave this book a 4 star instead of 5. They were cute together, but I could have used a little more passion. I love that Beth is pregnant. In this book Meryn says how vampires are douchebags. For the most part I agree the vampire in this series come off stuck up and douchey. I did like Adreil and I love Gavriel but most the vamps are buttholes. Overall I really enjoyed this book. I can’t wait to see what new trouble Meryn gets into.

Racial tension in Noctem Falls Oh My!! – this is a page turner that’s for sure. Definitely a Must Read!

Title: My Guardian
Series: Bewitched & Bewildered
Author: Alanea Alder
Designation: Book Six of Series, Full-Length, **Can Be Read As Standalone, No Cliffhanger #paranormalromance #fantasy #shifters #vampires #fae #witches #sprites #adultcontent
My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars*****
**Each book of the Bewitched and Bewildered series features a different couple finding love along with their very own happy ending and can technically be read as a standalone. However, there are recurring characters and an underlying interconnected conflict that play a major part in all the books, therefore to avoid spoilers, I highly recommend reading the books sequentially.
OMG! I loved, loved, loved My Guardian. Alder’s books are like crack for us paranormal romance junkies! I can see it now: Room in a church basement, a circle of chairs, surrounded by a group of grim faces, and I stand and say, “Hello, my name is Judy and I’m an Alanea Alder paranormal romance addict!” lol… All joking aside, Alder’s books really are addictive. They’re like potato chips; you can’t stop with just one! This is the sixth book of the series and each story gets better and better! I can hardly wait to dive into the seventh! lol… I love unique paranormal romance, addicted to danger, action, adventure & suspense, completely smitten with sexy, alpha heroes, adore sassy, courageous heroines, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than a few mind-bending plot twists along with a generous infusion of laugh-out-loud humor, but when I can get it all in one exceptionally well-crafted and beautifully written book, I’m in absolute heaven! And that’s exactly what Alanea Alder delivered – AGAIN – in My Guardian, the sixth full-length paranormal romance in her riveting and highly imaginative Bewitched & Bewildered Series. Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain explicit language, some violence, and steamy, dreamy sex. Will I read this author again? Absolutely which is probably the best recommendation I can give! As a matter of fact, after completing the first book of this series, I raced back to Amazon and purchased the remaining nine books and signed up for her newsletter, which speaks volumes as to how much I enjoyed this author’s work! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I was glued to my chair, white-knuckling my ereader, my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the pages flew as quickly as the pages!
The series takes a bit of a turn in Book 6 when Unit Commander Aiden McKenzie and his firecracker mate Meryn leave Lycaonia to visit vampire pillar city Noctem Falls, Naturally, they are accompanied by Meryn’s squire Sei Ryuu and, of course, Felix the sprite along with former Noctem Falls resident Elizabeth Monroe and her mate Gavriel Ambrosios. Aiden, Meryn, Ryuu, Felix, Beth and Gavriel are all recurring characters readers have gotten to know in the previous books of the series and always add so much to each story. The primary couple in this story is vampire Adriel Aristaios and Texas tiger shifter Eva Mae Miller. I fell in love with the straight-laced, always serious vampire Adriel Aristaios, the man in charge of all the units for Noctem Falls also known as The City of Night. He’s also a bit of a mystery but so strong, loyal, and definitely a little OCD. But once again, wait until you find out who he is! Shhh… No spoilers from me. And the beautiful, tiger-shifter Eva Mae Miller, originally from Russia but has been living in Texas for the past 500 years, is just the cat’s meow! Talk about a cowgirl – southern drawl, jeans, boots and all! Eva is a breath of fresh air and just what stuffy Adriel needed! They were perfect for each other! Eva is such a bada$$! Sigh… So dreamy! And naturally, Meryn and her two newly adopted twin ‘baby Keelans’ provide loads of laughter and shenanigans galore! And once again, this story ripped my heart out of my chest! I snickered, snorted, sniffled, snuffled, chuckled, and outright ugly cried through the entire story! But just a little warning, folks, don’t start this book unless you have plenty of time; you will not want to stop until you reach the last page. I should know; I had a doctor’s appointment and was trying to read while waiting for the doctor but kept being interrupted by people who wanted to know what I was reading – because I was laughing so much! Even the nurse who did my check-in wanted the name of the book and series! lol… Alanea Alder, you’re killing me! If you enjoy perilous danger, intense drama, agonizing angst, pulse-pounding action, nail-biting suspense, side-splitting humor, heartwarming romance, and a few mind-blowing plot twists that you’ll never see coming, then this book is screaming your name. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! Thanks for the recommendation Fran Zoch!
LOVE!
