A revelatory and touching tribute to the lives of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds written by the person who knew them best, Todd Fisher’s poignant memoir is filled with moving stories of growing up among Hollywood royalty and illustrated with never-before-seen photos and memorabilia. In December 2016, the world was shaken by the sudden deaths of Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds, two … Reynolds, two unspeakable losses that occurred in less than twenty-four hours. The stunned public turned for solace to Debbie’s only remaining child, Todd Fisher, who somehow retained his grace and composure under the glare of the media spotlight as he struggled with his own overwhelming grief.
The son of “America’s Sweethearts” Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, Todd grew up amid the glamorous wealth and pretense of Hollywood. Thanks to his funny, loving, no-nonsense mother, Todd remained down to earth, his own man, but always close to his cherished mom, and to his sister through her meteoric rise to stardom and her struggle with demons that never diminished her humor, talent, or spirit.
Now, Todd shares his heart and his memories of Debbie and Carrie with deeply personal stories from his earliest years to those last unfathomable days. His book, part memoir, part homage, celebrates their legacies through a more intimate, poignant, and often hilarious portrait of these two remarkable women than has ever been revealed before.
With thirty-two pages of never-before-seen photos and memorabilia from his family’s private archives, Todd’s book is a love letter to a sister and a mother, and a gift to countless fans who are mourning the deaths of these two unforgettable stars.

I enjoyed reading Todd’s perspective on his mom and sister, as well as insight into him personally. This guy was always in the background with these 2 powerful women, but they adored him as much her did them. He seems to have come through this strange upbringing (hey how many mothers pay for his first prostitute when he was just a teen?) and become a successful creative businessman all on his own. I was glad to read things about Debbie that I didn’t know – what a strong person she was. Everyone pretty well knew about Carrie’s demons through all the media reports, as well as her own admissions. But Debbie seemed more private. I finished the book glad that I learned more about them all and with the hope that Todd’s life remains happy and content. Thanks for the memories.
A good writer, he tell his story and his families, grew up knowing the story, just some of the details are so intresting. Good read
I loved reading about the dynamics of Debbie Reynolds and her children. Her son Todd hid nothing about their lives together and yet he was respectful of his mother and sister’s memories. I loved getting to know these ladies better and was struck by how interesting their lives were.
I found this book to be entertaining. Not just another “rag” magazine article, but from someone who knew both these talented women on the most personal level..as family.
was so interesting about their life from beginning till now.
Excellent
Terrific read about three members of an iconic family. Always a fan of both Debbie and Carrie, but a revelation as to son and brother, Todd. Good writing, very entertaining and informative. Kudos!
One of the best biographies I have ever read. I wasn’t expecting much but It was so good I couldn’t put it down!
Interesting stories and Debbie Reynolds comes off as a remarkable woman who like one of her characters was really “unsinkable. Her back luck with three husbands shoes that three times is not always the charm. I liked her son a lot and he seems like the most stable constant in her life, along with her brother. On the downside, the book would have benefited from a better editor as some of the detailed minutia Boggs down the book.
* I read this book in one sitting. Todd is honest about his life and his mother”s and his sisters. What comes through the whole book is that this is a family that really loved each other -warts and all. They were all incredibly talented and creative. Yes there was a lot about his Mom”s Hollywood Collection and the struggle to preserve and protect it. The solution is sad but in the end had to be. If you like to read about the entertainment business and entertainers read this book.
It was easy fast read and revealed much of the sad plight of Celebrities who get used by so many. Poor Debbie Reynold just keeps picking the worst mates who stole from her making her life. Financial mess. Her son seems to be the lone survivors from most normal of the bunch.
Fair insider bio
Book is a pathetic day to day summary of Todd Fisher’s life. The exixtence of his mother & sister is very secondary to every day of Todd’s existence. Total waste of money
I liked the book but felt it was more about Todd than His Girls. I felt bad for the family as they certainly had more than their share of heartaches and troubles.
If you are at all interested in Hollywood culture (or lack thereof) you’ll probably like this book. Don’t read if you’ve always liked Eddie Fisher because he comes off as a terrible person of dubious character.
This was a great book giving us a glimpse inside their world
I absolutely loved Carrie Fisher and this book gave an inside look at her life. She was just so talented! I’m sad that she’s gone. Her brother’s book was a nice tribute to her and their mother, Debbie Reynolds.
Liked this book as Debbie Reynolds and her family led an interesting life. Todd Fisher tells a great story of his Mother and Father and their extraordinary life’s.
I loved Todd Fishers writing, very witty. I have read his sisters book and she was a wonderful writer….Love them both.
what a great story of Todd Fisher, Carrie, and Debbie. I love the story he told about Bettie Davis. so well written and so loving. Have recommended this book to many friends
