I absolutely loved this book. A heart-wrenching read throughout.
This is a heart rending tale of two people who meet and make each other better. Better at dealing with life. Better people. Better together. Just Better.
Whilst I initially had my concerns about Gabe’s persistence bordering on stalker status—Gabe stop shaking your head at me—he wore me down, and this genuinely nice and decent character proved himself to be a refreshing change to the damaged, shades of grey, anti-heroes that I am usually drawn to.
Livvy, I have mixed feelings about. Sometimes, I think she is amazing, strong and brave, and others, I think she can be self-absorbed and selfish. She has definitely had a hard time of things, that’s for sure, and Tracie makes the reader feel empathy for her.
Tracie Delaney has written a novel set in the USA—a nice change for us UK based readers, because the backdrop of glorious Californian sunshine really warms the heart during these interminably long, cold winter nights.
The romance between the two main characters is a slow build because it needs to be. Although I do question some of Gabe’s choices—first date, really Gabe? And you think that Livvy will want to see you again?—they also enjoy some truly magical experiences that I am envious of and wouldn’t mind having a go at myself.
But, every great story comes with a healthy dose of something terrible, and this book does not disappoint on that front. It evokes real emotion from the reader, so be prepared with your tissues. There is a strong probability you will need them. I won’t go into detail because I dont want to give the game away, you will need to read and experience it for yourself.
This book is a refreshing change. It’s about good people doing nice things, and embracing life’s challenges together to try to build a future. Tracie Delaney is proving herself to be a diverse and talented writer. I am very interested to see which direction this exciting new author will head in next.
I’m gutted, completely gutted by this book.
Originally what I thought might be a 4star book ended with 5 GOLD stars. If you don’t walk away in awe I’d be truly shocked.
This was one of the hardest reads I’ve come across. Not loving it at first, I’m beyond happy I kept reading it. I think that’s what the author had intended, due to the fact by the end I felt my heart had been through the most damaging story ever then put back together by the best. If you don’t mind falling in love with a book-boyfriend and having a good cry or 10 then I highly recommend this book.
Livvy has a deeply emotional past and in walks your typical book hottie. He’s also rich, but he’s worked hard for it. This character is uplifting and knows how to reap the benefits life has given him. He’s not a jerk, and he is such a gentleman, he definitely knows how to please Livvy. Ok you may swoon now.
I had a hard time with Livvy until I was shocked to see where her story would go. I stupidly thought the bad luck was over and there wouldn’t be much more to it, i was wrong! Just wait and see what this author does to you. Seriously if you need to put it down and breath and go back,DO IT. GO BACK, this story is well worth it.
Wow what an emotional rollercoaster I have just been on…in one breath I was smiling the next I was sobbing like a baby.. This story is outstanding and it is hard not to fall in love with the characters…. with what they have both been through in their pasts to find each other’s clearness to live and love again now that was beautiful… If like me and you loved the authors previous series The Winning Aces Series then you will truly loves this book…
Wow! This book exceeded all my expectations.
This is a really hard review to write for me. I actually don’t know what to say. I thought this would be a really nice romance as I adore the author and loved her previous work but I obviously underestimated her. Oh my, this was an emotional rollercoaster. I can’t believe the author put me through all of that. I haven’t been this scared to finish a book in a long time. I was losing my mind out of fear and frayed nerves. I’m so exhausted as if I just ran a marathon. *LOL*
It wasn’t a book where I fell in love with the characters instantly but where I bonded with them over their experiences, which felt so real to me that I connected with them on a much more meaningful level.
There was so much happening in this book, it would be impossible to even tell you what’s going on. You just have to make do with the blurb and see where the book will take you. I felt like I was going through a whole lifetime with many highs and many lows. It definitely was nothing I would have expected.
The author did great with the emotional aspect of the story and although I did feel with the characters, for most of the time it wasn’t as deep as it probably would have been if it had been written in the first person POV. That’s obviously a matter of personal opinion so please don’t let this scare you away from this amazing book. I still felt as if my heart was put through the wringer in the end.
To be honest, the epilogue was the decisive factor for my decision to give this book a full star rating and it was with a laughing and a crying eye that I closed the book. I love how the author delivers those seemingly simple yet absolutely beautiful stories that touch you unexpectedly and I can’t wait to find out what she has in store for us next.
