Human and canine characters were worth knowing. You may need a tissue or two.
My Forever Home is a wonder sweet read with amazing characters and some of the cutest pups around. Debbie Burns and this series is new to me but now that I’ve had a sample of her writing and stories I will definitely be going back and reading the first two books. I read this with no problem so it is definitely a standalone.
Tess Grasso finds herself floundering in life and decides to return to her hometown and try to get her pet therapy business off the ground. Mason Redding is an injured baseball player who is recuperating and itching to get back to the game. These two meet when Mason has a mishap with his neighbors dog and needs Tess to help him catch the furry troublemaker. They start to spend a lot of time together at the local shelter. During their time together Tess opens up to Mason but he’s kept secrets. Will their new relationship be able to survive them?
Excellent read that I highly recommend.
This is a sweet adorable read with a loveable couple and some very cute puppies, My Forever Home is book 3 in the Rescue Me Series but it certainly can be read as a stand-alone, I know this because I haven’t read the previous books in this series and because Debbie Burns is a new author to me.
Tess Grasso has dreams of having her own pet therapy business but nothing seems to be going right so in the meantime she is helping out at the local no-kill shelter and this is were she meets fellow dog lover Mason Redding. Mason Redding is keeping secrets because he is afraid that if he tells Tess the truth she will feel betrayed and lose every bit of confidence she has gained since spending time with him. What neither Tess or Mason expected was a free spirited stray husky pup to enter their life’s and teach them both about faith, love and forgiveness……..
This is a sweet romance about finding love and holding onto it, it’s a slow burn relationship and it’s perfect because we get to know Tess and Mason as they get to know each other. Great sweet read
A Sweet, Clean Holiday Romance with Furbabies
This will stretch your heartstrings so good. I loved this read, including furbabies of all sizes and origins.
Mason had a great outlook, had overcome a lot. I understand why he did what he did regarding Tess. He didn’t take advantage of her, but knew he wanted her.
Tess confused me a bit at first as she was so insecure and sure didn’t act very mature, but understanding came later.
The true hero was a magnificent, super intelligent stray, Mason named John Ronald. To have his viewpoint at times imo, was genious, pulling me in deeper. A great journey to “My Forever Home” with all the feels. I always enjoy some humor and Tess’s Grandma also added some levity.
I feel parts of this story were a tad slow, so it did take me a few days to finish, but all ends very well.
I received an ARC thru Net Galley and giving my honest review.
Excellent book! This is the third book in the Rescue Me series and I enjoyed a return visit to the High Grove Animal Shelter. This book, however, is a stand-alone that isn’t dependent on the having read the first two books (although I can recommend them as excellent reads as well). This is a touching story of Tess and Mason, with a supporting role by John Ronald, the stray that helps get them together. Getting to read a few glimpses from John Ronald’s perspective was a fun touch. I was drawn in to the story from the first page and hated to see it end. I look forward to book #4!
Tess and Mason are a cute couple but the the pups are even cuter! Tess is back from Europe & is trying to set up her dog training & therapy business. She stumbles across Mason one day. He’s suffered a potentially career ending injury & is surprised she has no idea who he is. He enjoys her company due to this. I loved Tess’s grandma. She’s Italian & knows exactly who he is but is matchmaking & keeps it to herself. I enjoyed the storyline with the male dog & the puppies. They were very endearing. This was a cute sweet romance & an entertaining read.
A winning combination…dogs and baseball.
While Tess Grasso coaxes a loose dog back to the leash holder, her laptop goes missing. The computer held all her plans for a new business. It’s a perfectly timed job opening at High Grove Animal Shelter which keeps her from returning to work at her uncle’s sandwich shop.
Professional baseball player, Mason Redding, wants to be liked as a person, not a celebrity. It’s a delicate business to get acquainted with Tess without tipping his hand.
This was just okay. While the writing itself flowed okay, I wasn’t a fan of the POV of the dogs. I thought this would be a romance, but I felt like there is more about the dogs than the romance. Tess and Mason are good together, although I would have liked more development in their relationship. While this wasn’t for me, it could be for someone else.
I voluntarliy reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I loved this story from beginning to end. I was anxious to read Tess’s story after reading Sit, Stay, Love. Debbie Burns didn’t disappoint. Her unexpected romance was enthralling and unique. I loved the added part from the dog’s POV. Absolutely awesome. I loved Tess’s grandma and her interactions with our hero, Mason. Mason, wants a chance without a lady seeing only a baseball player and he lucked into the one person in St. Louis that has no clue who he is. He’s got a giant heart and he will sweep you off your feet as fast as he did Tess.
If you’re looking for a romance with lots of fur love and secret sports romance I highly recommend reading My Forever Home.
This was a fun book to read, it also had the dogs point of view about life. Looks at the point of view about stray dogs and homeness and their wish to be given homes.
The male and female do fall in love, so it it’s a happy every after book also.
My Forever Home is a wonderfully cozy and heartwarming read. It is just made to tug at you, through both animal and people. You totally understand why Mason keeps who he is from Tessa and the revelation works well with their relationship as it has developed. And while there is the opportunity, I really appreciate that Burns avoids melodrama and handles issues quickly and realistically.
While I feel that Mason had good development as a character, I do wish we’d gotten a little more of Tessa’s family. Her issues with her family is what sent her on a tour of Europe, but while it is hit upon I think that it could have used a little more. I do love her relationship with her grandmother – their closeness is so sweet and I loved the support there.
As much as I love Mason and Tessa’s relationship, it is the connection with John Ronald that is really the highlight of the book. The look inside his mind brings happiness, sadness, and humor. Some may not like the personification of a dog, but it works for me.
Like Sit, Stay, Love, My Forever Home is one of those easy to read, slow burn books that takes it time creating connection between the characters – exploring them as people and how they relate to each other. Mason & Tessa manage to find each other at a time when both are ready for the next phase and it creates a delightfully satisfying HEA. I’m so looking forward to what Burns has in store for us next.
**Review given honestly and freely after receipt of a reader copy. This opinion is completely my own and was not influenced in any way.**
This was my first read by Debbie Burns and it will definitely not be my last! I absolutely love her writing style. The characters are well-written and complex as well as relatable. The story telling is flawless and flows effortlessly with great description and wonderful dialogue. The cover grabbed me first, and then I was wrapped up in the story from the beginning and fell in love with the characters. I didn’t even realize this was part of a series. I can’t wait to go back and read the other books.
I loved the chapters that were in John Ronald’s POV. I thought they added so much to the dog’s presence in the book. Talk about a back-story and a perfect way to help the reader to empathize and truly understand the reasons on why he is the way he is, WOW.
I loved the slow build for Tess and Mason. Some insta-lust/love stories work, but there is also beauty in the building of a relationship and I think Debbie Burns did a spectacular job in telling their story.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for an advanced copy. These are my honest and unbiased opinions.
