New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant rounds up the hottest cowboys in Texas in her latest novel of no-holds-barred passion. Audrey Martinez is a veterinarian who has devoted her whole life to the care and protection of horses–even if doing so leaves her little time for meeting a man. Who would have thought that a strange case of criminal horseplay would lead her to falling deeply, … lead her to falling deeply, wildly in love? If only the man who makes her heart race faster than a wild mustang would let his guard down, that is. . .
Caleb Harper is no ordinary cowboy. Sure, he wears his hat, boots, and jeans like a second skin, and displays an easygoing charm that comes from years of working on the ranch. But with his military background, and Army buddies at his side, he is tried-and-true Texas tough. Audrey knows she can trust a man like Caleb to help her save horses. But can Caleb trust himself to resist his attraction to Audrey–or will the sparks of their desire end up getting them burned?
“A fantastic, first-class Lone Star romance.”

Time for Abby’s little brother, Caleb, to find his HEA.
Caleb still has the abandonment issues which have plagued the Harper siblings since their car-wreck of a mother left them behind. Although undoubtedly they were much better off under their care of Abby, but it still hurt.
Caleb has decided on the “don’t let anyone in” policy to avoiding heartbreak but with his brother so recently found Naomi, he is kind of sick of having HEA thrust in his face. But that was before he met the very lovely, animal doctor Audrey.
Audrey may specialise in equines but I’d bet good money she is soft with all animals! She donates time to horse rescue charities but she is dismayed when she realises that there is a coordinated gang abusing the horses.
Caleb and Audrey are two peas in a pod, both want love but are afraid to put themselves out there, so put their efforts into their businesses instead. But when the gang starts targeting Audrey and not just the horses, Caleb finds his very deep-grained protective gene flaring up.
Talk about walls to be climbed! It might have been quicker to blast them, cos even as they ever so slowly came down, pretty soon a new course of brick was added with all the misunderstandings these 2 could generate.
I did enjoy the epilogue which tied up all the loose ends I still had dangling in my brain.
My Favorite Cowboy is book three in the Heart of Texas series but can easily be read as a stand alone. Each book is about the journey of one member of the siblings to romance & if not acceptance, a way to deal with abandonment issues from their parents.
Audrey is a veterinarian & has a mystery on her hands. Horses are dying on her friend’s ranch & she can’t figure out the cause. Soon it’s spreading to other customers & the pattern starts to point back to her.
Audrey’s friend hires Caleb & the company he works for to protect Audrey & figure out what’s going on. Nobody counted on the attraction between Caleb & Audrey. Their individual issues with their parents & upbringing keep interfering with their growing relationship. Will it interfere with Caleb keeping her safe?
This book was an excellent romantic suspense that pulled me in from the beginning. I enjoyed the relationships between the characters & watching them grow & develop. Both main characters had problems in the early years & had to learn to trust & accept the other person. They had to realize that it’s nice to depend on someone else once in a while. Good story!
I really enjoy this series, the characters feel like people you know. Aubrey is called to David’s Auction ranch because some of his horses are sick and he was her dads friend. When Caleb and his brothers stop by David’s he asks them to hook up the security system but what they find is alarming. When confirmed bachelor Caleb gets a look at Aubrey he gets a strange feeling but Aubrey is all about the horses but someone is trying to stop her.
This was a heartwarming yet scary story about hope faith and forgiveness.

“My Favorite Cowboy” by Donna Grant
I loved this story. A real page turner.. A contemporary romance-mystery-suspense story that will have you glued to your edition of this story and turning the pages. I was blessed with the opportunity to receive an ARC of this story from the publisher via NetGalley… and this story is even better than the blurb would lead you to believe. It is due to hit your favorite book source on the 26th of February 2019… I advise you to watch for its arrival. Happy Reading.
This story centers around veterinarian Audrey Martinez and Caleb Harper. He is ex-military turned horse trainer and co-owner of a ranch with his brother.
They meet when a mutual friend needs security for his stable . David Warner’s horses are getting sick and it appears they are being hurt intentionally.
Audrey and Caleb are attracted to each other but both carry emotional baggage and don’t want anything serious.
But as the danger intensifies, so do the feelings as well as the misconceptions.
The storyline was interesting though at times it was repetitive and I didn’t find Audrey to be a very likable character.
For me it was more of a 3:5 star book.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and the publisher. The opinions express are solely my own.
My Favorite Cowboy is the third book in author Donna Grant’s Heart of Texas series. This story is a super addition to the series. The Harper siblings have had a tough life but haven’t let the past hold them down. The youngest, Caleb still has some abandonment issues from when he was just six-years-old and his mother left them. It will take Caleb meeting equine veterinarian Audrey Martinez to help him overcome this issue.
I really liked meeting Audrey and Caleb. They are both very likeable and strong characters. I also liked how all the family and friends stick together through difficult times. This makes for an excellent feel-good story.
ARC received via Netgalley for an honest review
I have such terrible bookzheimer’s that I didn’t realise this book was part of the Heart of Texas series until I started reading and remembered reading the other two books – derp!
Caleb has been the hold out of these Texas boys, and I knew it was going to take some kind of extraordinary woman to take him off the market.
Audrey got me from the start (though I don’t understand her love of horses – they are the beasts of satan lol).
I loved being taken along with Caleb and Audrey as they fight their feelings for each other, and as they fight the person/s who have it out for her.
It was great to get more of Clayton/Abby and Brice/Naomi. I love how strong their familial bonds.
I wanted to slap both Caleb and Audrey with my kindle at times to get some sense into their heads, however I knew they would get their crap together in the end.
I enjoy Donna Grant’s writing style. I always feel that I am in the book with the characters rather than an outsider looking in. She drew me into life on the ranch, and kind of made me want to get on a plane and go visit.
I look forward to what Ms Grant brings us next.
Great storyline! This had me turning the pages to see what was next. I could see, hear and feel all the events as they unfolded.
As for Caleb and Audrey themselves, for being so self-assured and established, they seemed rather immature about their feelings for each other. I could have used less of the back and forth indecissiveness. It slowed the pace for me, as I was more about the drama and mystery here, which is unusual bc I love romance. All in all, a very good read.
I received an ARC thru Net Galley and am voluntarily reviewing.
4 1/2 stars. This is another awesome book in this series and I am kind of leaning towards calling it my favorite so far. Ms. Grant has given us so much to love with these well written and developed characters and Caleb and Audrey are no exception. A really good story line, some scary times, some really good emotional times and some hot sexy times kept me completely engrossed in the story and the outcome. I love that Abby, Clayton, Brice and Naomi are all such a big and important part of the story!! Caleb has been harboring so much distrust of women because of the way his mother left when he was just 6 years old that he only allows himself meaningless hook-ups. Audrey has always just focused on her career and being the best vet she can be and never thought about making a life with a man. They met under some stressful circumstances and are immediately drawn to each other. Can they be what each other has never thought they wanted or looked for? Will they let themselves be loved? Of course, because it wouldn’t be a romance without a thoroughly satisfying HEA.
Thank you to Netgalley/Publisher for this ARC!
3.75stars
Very successful vet Audry has her hands full with a case of criminal horseplay one of the people who is helping her is Caleb ex-military and now a successful rancher. They get to know more of eachother while seeking for a cure and person responsible for the crime. The story was for me a little bit more likable than the previous. We see the characters from other books and how are they doing. I liked the suspense and mystery and the attraction between Audry and Caleb is strong. They had to sort out the baggage from the past to start enjoying their future.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
I really love this series. Donna Grant has managed to find the perfect balance to bring out the most emotion in her characters all while not overpowering and making it feel unrealistic.
My Favorite Cowboy finds us with Caleb, the youngest Harper sibling, and the one with the most trauma, and Audrey the local Vet, who has her own issues when it comes to relationships. When horses start becoming ill, Caleb and Audrey find themselves in a dangerous situation. I loved Caleb, he had that balance of bad ass alpha male, with just enough vulnerability underneath that you can’t help but fall a little for him. Not only did the relationship between Audrey and Caleb captivate me, but the mystery surrounding the horses kept me turning the pages. Easily a 5 star read and I certainly hope Donna Grant isn’t done with this series!

My Favorite Cowboy is the first Donna Grant novel I have read and I can confidently say it will not be the last. I was very quickly drawn into her writing style and the characters and plot of the book had me wanting to just keep reading!
Audrey Martinez is an equine vet and one of the very best in the area. She has thrown herself completely into her work after her mother’s passing and her father abandoning she and her sister, Maddy. When horses fall ill at the rescue that David, a friend of her father’s for years, he reaches out to her knowing that not only will she help, but she’s likely the only one that will be able to save the animals.
When it is determined that the horses have been poisoned, David calls in Caleb Harper and his family to assist with security until they figure out who is targeting the horses. Caleb is a former Green Beret who has come home to work with his family on their ranch. Like Audrey, Caleb focuses all of his attention on his work. While he enjoys women, he’s not the kind that wants to be in a relationship courtesy of deeply ingrained feelings from his childhood.
When Audrey and Caleb meet, the spark between the two of them is evident almost immediately. While trying to solve the mystery of what is happening with the horses, both of them are fighting their own demons when it comes to their feelings for one another. It is clear that they are going to end up in bed together, but the bigger question is will it turn into more?
I loved how this whole story unfolded. I was kept on the edge of my seat as the mystery around the horses came to light and I was equally as invested as what was happening between Audrey and Caleb. I also loved the rest of Caleb’s family and Audrey’s sister. They helped make the story that much richer. I would highly recommend this awesome romance.
Caleb has been deeply affected by his mother leaving them when he was just a kid. He’s spent his years opening up a new ranch with his older brother, training horses and having meaningless one night stands.
Audrey has been just as affected by her mother’s passing and her father’s disappearance. She’s one of the best equine vets and her little sister works with her. She is just as bad as Caleb when it comes to meaningless one night stands.
These two get brought together when some horses at an auction house suddenly turn ill. It’s apparent that someone has poisoned the animals and they are racing to find out what the poison is, who is doing it and who is the target behind these actions.
Great suspense, returning side characters and a pretty hot attraction between the main characters. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was their fear of commitment getting in the way. I did like how they ultimately got back together. I would love to see a book on the sister. She’s a spitfire!
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. The problems that start at the auction house only to be because of a better veterinarian who has great jobs offered her. It is about friends who come together and help solve the problem. Family and friends are everything with this story.
**I received a copy of My Favorite Cowboy from St. Martins Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review** The opinions expressed below are mine alone and not solicited in any way.
My Favorite Cowboy by Donna Grant is the third book in her Heart of Texas series. I have enjoyed each one of these books in the series and it doesn’t disappoint. This is Caleb and Audrey’s story which has intrigue, mystery and each character battling their abandonment issues by parents.
Audrey Martinez is called out to a horse rescue where 3 of the horses are ill by a unknown poison. She’s a new equine vet in her hometown and little does she know that someone with a vendetta against her will go to any lengths to destroy the evidence before she can find the cause and cure. When Caleb Harper happens to be there to help her but can both of them get over their parents leaving them when they were young? Will they find the culprit in time while finding out they really care for each other?
Caleb Harper who owns East Ranch with his siblings is horse whisperer looking a new rescues at David’s Auction barn who witnesses Audrey puzzling three horses that have fallen ill. He just happens to be there when someone tries to burn all the evidence from the equine necropsy Audrey has done on one of the horses that died. Of course he’s going to volunteer to protect Audrey even though both are gun shy from relationships. Can they find the person who seems to have a vendetta against her in time before they escalate to murder? Once they both decide that both Audrey and Caleb are each other’s soulmate while resolving their own parental issues.
My hope is that Maddie will fall for either Jace or Cooper in perhaps just one more book?
So this is either second or third in series, I started with Brice’s book but they seem to elude to situations that they went thru, so I am going to make sure since I do not want to miss out. This was Caleb’s story along with his love interest Audrey. We all know that Caleb is a playboy with no plans on changing that. He ends up meeting Audrey and she is an equine vet who was called in to assist Dave and the horses that he cares for in his auction house. They know that something sinister is happening. But as we learned from this family they go all in and they basically make you part of their protection. Calab’s and Audrey’s interest is there and they both would time to develop more but they are not having the chance to do so..Entertaining..Good to read on Brice and Naomi..
Rcvd and ARC at no cost to author..Voluntarily left my opinion and thoughts.
Audrey is a veterinarian who absolutely loves animals. She is amazing at her job and is in high demand. She is asked to do a favor for a friend and tasked to find out why his horses are sick. This puts her on a path she didn’t see coming. While she is trying to figure out who is hurting these animals, someone is trying to hurt her. With all this danger she comes face to face with a very good looking cowboy who is hell bent on protecting her.
Caleb is instantly attracted to Audrey. From the way she looks, her caring nature, her determination and her smile, Caleb who is a confirmed bachelor is blown away. Meeting her in a tense situation leads him to think that once he gets her between the sheets this attraction will fade and he will move on like all the others.
This book has it all – danger, suspense, laughter, drama, sexy times and family loyalty. I would highly recommend this book!
My Favorite Cowboy by Donna Grant is a fantastic contemporary romance. Ms. Grant has once again delivered a well-written book. The characters in this book are outstanding, but the dialog. Wow! The dialog and interaction between characters were perfect. Audrey is an equine vet and is called to help David, a friend of her father’s when horses in his care are sick. David calls in Caleb and his family for security when they find the horses have been poisoned. Caleb and Audrey’s story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. This book captured me on the first page and held me hostage until the last. I loved reading My Favorite Cowboy and look forward to my next book by Donna Grant. My Favorite Cowboy is book 3 of the Heart of Texas Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
