My first Christina Dodd book. Different time period and setting than present day, future, or fantasy laced in present… Samantha is a strong character. We don’t see how strong until the challenge is presented. This would be an interesting book to continue with her marriage and qualities she could add to assist in spy catching…
Good men don’t often make good heroes. They can end up boring, stuffy, or moralistic prigs. The Colonel von Trapp (not his real name) falls into the moralistic prig category. The heroine is not a fallen woman, but merely stumbled a little as she was a notorious cutpurse as a young girl. The fact that she is tall, thin and a Nordic blonde made her …
It was a nice twist on The Sound of Music. He is a military man with vengance, she is a governess with a troubled past the she’s been trying to set right. We know how this will end, but the way the story is told is very enjoyable and I totally recommend reading it. It has a little bit of everything including sex, mystery and humor. Read it in …
This is a fun historical with plenty of humor to charm. Outspoken and gutsy governess heroine, who will fight for the kids she’s caring for. Sexy hero. Strong hot attraction between these two. Great conflict, with a bit of suspense thrown in to add to the danger. I enjoyed it very much.
I love Christina’s historical romances.
Enjoyed the characters — interesting and at times surprising perspectives
The book is entertaining (especially if you are a Sound of Music fan) but it does require a major suspension of disbelief. Sorry, I can’t recommend this book. It was the Von Trapp story/Sound of Music story. As a matter of fact, I didn’t actually finish it, which never happens with me!
Sound of Music returns. Clever and entertaining.
Loved it
Fun, can’t put down, kind of book. I really enjoyed the book.
I adore this book. I have read it a couple of times. Think “Sound of Music” without the musical numbers and escaping from Nazis.
