Growing up, life is idyllic for Lily Rose Cates due to one constant – her father’s love. But in her sixteenth summer, all that changes without warning. There begins Lily’s struggle to find herself and the life she’s lost. . . .
Marriage promises fulfillment, but her happily-ever-after barely survives the honeymoon. Her husband’s sophisticated façade hides a brooding man with even darker secrets. … secrets. When all illusions shatter, Lily must make hard choices – abandon her husband or risk losing much more than her marriage. She flees their home in Detroit and sets out on a fearful journey to a house in Georgia that her husband knows nothing about. This is one woman’s compelling tale of love and survival as she finds her way back home to who she’s meant to be . . . in her father’s house.

My Fathers House
Story of 1st love, heartache, victimization, and 2nd chances.
The only downside was the author had the main character, Lily Rose, cry in every chapter, sometimes repeatedly.
Great storyline, with great characters.
This realistic fiction shows how many of us choose partners for marriage – not following our instincts but caught-up in more worldly things. Beyond this, the novel has mystery that keeps one reading.
I enjoyed it very much. So hard to put down.
I very much enjoyed this story.
I enjoyed the book very much.
It was quite predictable, but I did like the happy ending. I was surprised by the number of typos, misspellings, grammatical and semantic errors!
Loved this book! Great story, which keeps you rooting for the main character as she deals with an abusive husband and starts a new life.
I really liked this book and read it in 2 days as it was hard to put down. It’s been awhile since I read it, but I remember it was good and kept you in suspense at what was going to happen next. It’s a book I would read again.
Really enjoyed reading this book.
I enjoyed this book. If you like nostalgic books with some romance this is a good choice.
Thouroughly enjoyed!
A warm feel good story about finding one’s way in the world. Trusting in one’s faith brings peace.
Great first book. I am from Georgia also. she got it just right.
I read this book while on a flight to Colorado. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It made the trip go much faster.
This book was fun to read. The setting was one we’d all love to be in. The story was one of no age or racial boundaries. Everyone saw the good in each other. So different from the world we now live in that it made you wish you lived there.
good
I could not put this one down as I kept reading to find out what would happen to the protagonist. Very engaging.
