Growing up, life is idyllic for Lily Rose Cates due to one constant – her father’s love. But in her sixteenth summer, all that changes without warning. There begins Lily’s struggle to find herself and the life she’s lost. . . .
Marriage promises fulfillment, but her happily-ever-after barely survives the honeymoon. Her husband’s sophisticated façade hides a brooding man with even darker secrets. … secrets. When all illusions shatter, Lily must make hard choices – abandon her husband or risk losing much more than her marriage. She flees their home in Detroit and sets out on a fearful journey to a house in Georgia that her husband knows nothing about. This is one woman’s compelling tale of love and survival as she finds her way back home to who she’s meant to be . . . in her father’s house.

Interesting book about support and caring in a small town in Georgia!
I loved this book! It was a page turner for sure from the beginning to the end. Lily’s tale carries us through a realization that love in a relationship is built on far more than passion. Her family story, community support and even her “rush to love” in her marriage tell us as readers a lot of the character’s shortcomings and her need to return to her roots. As I read this book, I saw moral conflicts Lily encountered and liked how the author let Lily made choices, positive or negative. I highly recommend this book. Great read and full of thought provoking events!
I enjoyed the characters and the story although I found myself thinking the author had dropped a few details. It does not stop me from recommending reading the book.
A lot of twists and turns. I found myself waiting for the other shoe to drop. A very fast read. Maybe not a book to read before trying to go to sleep, but a lot of sweetness here as well.
Very enjoyable read, I would recommend to anyone.
A look at how a woman can get trapped in a dysfunctional marriage with a man who is all about control.

I couldn’t wait to read the ending. It was so uplifting and inspiring for me.
A wolf in sheep’s clothing get’s his in the end. A naive woman learns about true love and life!
Very good.
A great story is a broken life and love. A new love found through much pain and prayer.
Well written book. A really good read.
very well written! Loved this book!
I enjoyed this story. I wasn’t sure where the story line was going all the time. I like a real story that is not made to the formula. This was a great tale that takes the reader to some different locals and lets you feel you know what it’s like to be there.
Excellent tead.
Enough action to keep you Turing the pages.
Very hard to put down this book. Wonderful.
look forward to reading more books by Rose Chandler Johnson
