Charismatic. Confident. Powerful. Controlling.
A brilliant investor with a Midas touch, Devlin Saint turned a modest inherited fortune into billions, and now operates one of the world’s foremost international philanthropic organizations. He’s a man determined to help the underprivileged, to fight injustice, and to make the world a better place. And that, at least is true.
It’s not, however, the full truth.
Because Devlin Saint is a man with a dangerous secret. One he’ll do whatever it takes to protect. And when investigative reporter Ellie Holmes turns her attention to an unsolved murder, she finds herself caught in a web of intrigue and passion as Devlin draws her closer and closer. But as the intensity and sensuality of their relationship grows, so do Ellie’s suspicions. Until she is no longer certain if the heat between her and Devlin is real, or only a facade he constructed to hide his dark and twisted secrets.
Don’t miss this provocative first book in Devlin Saint’s trilogy…

My Fallen Saint by J. Kenner a four-star read that you will fall for. This is number one in the Fallen Saint series and I cant wait for number two, as I am sure that it will take all of the parts I loved about this story and just explore them further, I was so close to giving this five-stars but there was just something I couldn’t put my finger on. I am hoping that the more I read the author the more I will get used to the style and enjoy it more, sometimes it just takes a little while to get you used to their descriptive style. It was so well plotted that it unfolded like a flower, and that isn’t something you come across that often and that’s why am so eager to get my hands on the rest of this trilogy as I wonder where the storyline will take us. Pick it up if you fancy a great story.
Oh how I loved these flawed characters and their intense, deep connection. A multi-layered story with intrigue, lies, danger, secrets, and more secrets. This will take you on a thrilling emotional roller coaster ride, full of surprises, twists, and love scenes that will set you on fire. I was hooked from the first chapter till the end, by this author’s stellar writing.
Elsa “Ellie” Holmes is a investigative reporter with The Spall Monthly. She has returned home to Laguna Cortez a place that has been nothing but death and loss, sharp edges and pain in her life. A place she swore she would never return to. Now ten years later the ghosts of her past draws her back.

Won this early copy through a Goodreads giveaway. Thank you!
A second chance, flaming HOT, must read romance!
Ellie and Devlin were young and in love but tragedy and a surprising disappearance separate them. Until years later when Ellie returns to her hometown to investigate the details surrounding her uncle’s death. As she digs deeper and deeper into the details, and a surprising reappearance of Devlin, she is painting a clearer picture of the people in her life and the roles they may have played in shaping her future and current situation. Just when you think you know what’s going on and what happens next, you get thrown a curve ball and realize you have no idea! I love the mystery in the writing and that the story keeps you on your toes at all times! The chemistry between Ellie and Devlin was HOT and they have this push/pull relationship which just increases the angst tenfold!
My Fallen Saint ends in a cliffhanger and I can honestly say I.CAN’T.WAIT for the next book! This was my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be my last!
The wow factor is strong in this new and intriguing series from J. Kenner that is complete with an alpha hero that may be a saint to some but a sinner for sure to others; and a heroine who can’t seem to walk away from him once she meets him. As always the writing is stellar and the story drew me in and I was hooked from the beginning. Ellie goes back to her hometown to do a story on the reclusive Devlin Saint and learns he is so much more than she thought he was. There are things she learns that should definitely scare her away but that is not the case for her even though Devlin himself tries to scare her off. Their chemistry is smoldering and Ellie wants nothing more than to be with Devlin but can she convince him that it is a good idea? Or will he keep telling her to leave? Stay tuned for more.
I would say this is more of a continuing story rather than calling it a cliffhanger but the story definitely does not end here and I for one cannot wait for more!!
“You didn’t say goodbye.”
“No.”
“You left me with nothing but a note.”
“Yes.”
“You didn’t even say you loved me.”
Ellie thought she would never see Alex again. And it a way, she hasn’t. The person standing in front of her is no longer Alex. There are similarities in appearance. But the cold and distant person before her now is no longer the boy she loved. He’s a man she doesn’t even know.
Devlin Saint knows where his life stands now. But when he sees Ellie again, everything becomes blurred. He understands the best thing to do is to send Ellie back to New York. As far away from him as he can get her. But things are not working out that way. Partly due to circumstance and partly due to the fact that he just can’t say goodbye to her again.
I can’t wait for the next book. There so much more we do not know. Great story!
4.5 stars
Why I haven’t read anything by the author before I don’t know but this will won’t happen again for sure.
I loved this book, the characters and their story is amazing and the fact that the heroine is such a badass one was my high while reading it.
The suspense had me on the edge, the chemistry was so hot and I must admit that I’m a big fan of secrets and second chance romance so this book was a great escape.
Oh my, what a drama! I was in a funk but this book easily took me out of it. I can’t wait to read what comes next. So many secrets! Trust is tested between Devlin and Ellie with feelings of abandonment and betrayal. But most prominent is the events and people that keep popping up against them. You will always be rooting for them because Ellie has a good rational head on her shoulders. And Devlin will punish himself if necessary to keep her safe. To keep her from hurting. Plus he is a sexy, good hearted, powerful man mixed with a tormented soul trying to make amends for a dark past. All that, just makes him irresistible. You will devour this book and will need your questions answered because there are a few unresolved issues and the plot thickens…
I enjoyed reading this story. I didn’t want to put it down had to keep reading to find out what is happening and what the secrets are and how it turns put. I recommend this book !!!!!
This book was won in a Goodreads giveaway.
I have read quite a few of J. Kenner’s books and this one broke my heart.
Young love, broken hearts, tragedy, poor Ellie has had too much of these emotions/feelings.
She meets Alex and she hopes that her life will change, that he loves her as much as she loves him, but once again catastrophe and misfortune falls upon her. Years later, and she is still reeling and dealing with her past in the only way she knows how, to live dangerously and precariously in everything she does.
This story was beautiful and devastating at the same time. I truly loved this story and I am looking forward to book 2!
Another series on the horizon.
Julie Kenner is wickedly talented on stealing our hearts with the anti-hero and succumbing us to the ever emotions within her stories. My Fallen Saint was exciting yet heart-melting, thrilling yet saddening.
“You want the danger. You want me to throw a match into the gasoline and make you burn.”
Ellie and Devlin tear up the pages with their angst and their tug-o-war relationship. Is the good philanthropist as squeaky clean as he looks in the media or is their a hidden agenda behind closed doors? Can Ellie forgive and move on from her past? Can her cement walls crumble.
I am all for a strong, mighty, take no prisoner woman in a romance; but wow! Ellie takes the cake. She is fierce as all get out. The information she receives as a journalist and the obstacles/ emotions she gets into with Devlin; I would have said ‘screw you’ and packed my bags. I think this is why we fall in love with Kenner’s work. Even though what we ‘think’ we would do, we root for the female who will be brave enough to fight for the anti-hero, to be there for him for thick and thin, to push through his own insecurities. And that takes courage, guts. Bravo for J. Kenner to writing books such as this one and the Stark series that let us dive in, to relish that female power… and of course have that dominant male who lets us surrender.
“…of course, love scenes that set fire to the page.”
Devlin and Ellie will certainly give Damien and Nikki some stiff competition! Same emotional angst and plot twists we’ve come to expect from JKenner but set in a different world. And as much as I love Nikki I think Ellie is a much stronger character. Can’t wait to see who the villian(s) will be! Make sure this one gets added to your TBR list. You won’t be sorry you did!
Let’s start this off by saying Devlin Saint is no Damian Stark and it did take a little while for me shift Damian from my head. I can’t say that I was instantly hooked, it took a little time to form a connection with the characters, but as with anything that is worth having, it was well worth the wait. Devlin Saint has a flawed past. He’s done things he’s not proud of, but he is trying to make amends with his Devlin Saint Foundation (DSF). Ellie Holmes had her fair share of heartbreak in her young life. Her mother died, her father and her uncle were murdered and the only person she’d let get close to her, Alex, took her virginity and walked out of her life without a goodbye. Now, after ten years she’s going back to her home town to interview the reclusive Devlin Saint about DSF. What she doesn’t expect is to see HIM, the man who took her heart and trampled on it.
This book is written with Ms. Kenner’s usual insight and depth of character and by the end, you are totally invested in the lives of Ellie and Devlin. The slow burn and secrets revealed make it a page turner once the initial character introductions are out of the way. This has the potential to be as big a hit as the Stark series, and quite frankly, I feel like I’m cheating on Damian by saying that.
What do you get when you mix Christian Grey and Damien Stark? You get J.Kenner’s new character, Devlin Saint, and OMG you are going to love this story.
This book is a brand new series, something we J.Kenner fans are very excited about, it’s full of mystery, suspense, angst between these chemistry charged characters and the expected hot steamy love scenes we all expect from this author. I loved the setting of this book and how Ellie comes back to her troubled past to write a story about the Devlin Saint Foundation, but that all changes when she meets the man himself, and that’s where the story takes an interesting turn. Devlin Saint is honestly a cross between Christian and Damien, troubled past, man of power, knows what he wants and has deep secrets, all rolled up into a hot good looking rich guy, and his kryptonite is Ellie Holmes who lives on danger, has a tragic past and is out for a story he doesn’t want to tell. You get a bit frustrated with how Devlin keeps going back to not telling his deeply guarded secrets, but once the story is out there it all comes together. Well written and definitely a page turner, well worth the read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
Oh…my…..amazing! You will fall in love with how strong of a woman Ellie is and how Saint is her Alpha protector. This book will hook you in and keep you in. Loved it!
This is Book 1 of the Fallen Saint Series.
This is the story of Devlin Saint & Ellie. Devlin started the Devlin Saint Foundation, and it is very successful in a few short years. He has a criminal past and dangerous secrets. Ellie is an investigator reporter at The Spall Monthly, which is a magazine. She has an appointment to interview Devlin Saint back in her home town. She has very bad memories there, though. Oh, and the surprise of all surprises is off the charts. More surprises are revealed. It’s awesome. My jaw got left hanging a few times throughout this book. This book is full of electricity between them, mystery on the part of Ellie trying to find answers to her questions, both personally and about the foundation. Omg, you just can’t put this book down once you start. Please, please read. You won’t be disappointed.
4 Star Review of My Fallen Saint (Fallen Saint #1) by J Kenner
Having read numerous books by J Kenner, I jumped at the chance to read and review My Fallen Saint, the first book in her newest series. As I have come to expect from Ms. Kenner the writing was strong and the story she wove, drew me in and kept me riveted from the first to the last chapter.
I fell hard and fast for Devlin Saint (I just love the name), he ticked all the boxes for me. He is a man who cares deeply and always wants to look after the underdog. However there is more to him than meets the eye and it is here where Ms.Kenner reeled me in hook, line and sinker.
Ellie Holmes is an investigative reporter, determined to find out the truth of her uncles murder. Meeting Devlin she is intrigued and attracted to him, however as their chemistry intensifies, she begins to doubt the feelings that are developing. Could Devlin be involved in her uncle’s death?
There was plenty of steam, suspense, drama and intrigue throughout this story as the journey Devlin and Ellie are on push their relationship to the limits. Will the trust, love and bond that they have between them be strong enough to endure or will circumstances tear them apart?
Although at times, the story was a tad predictable, I cannot wait to see where Ms.Kenner takes us in the next book.
Trying to get answers into the death of her uncle, Ellie needs to travel back to the place she spent much of her teenage years. Gathering information puts her right in Devlin Saint’s path. When secrets are revealed it pushes them both together. Right or Wrong the spark between them is instant. But Devlin has too many skeletons in his closet and some of those lead Ellie to wonder where his alliances lie. Can Ellie and Devlin connect in all of the chaos? Or will the answers she needs put her in harms way? Is Devlin more of a Saint or a Sinner? I went into this story thinking that J. Kenner could not create a better place than Stark World. The readers have always loved Damien and Nikki and to trying to recreate the wheel might not go as well. But boy was I wrong. From the very first interaction with Devlin the reader becomes instantly aware of the character’s power and grace. With a plot that kept on changing and an awesome connection between Ellie and Devlin, J. Kenner has once again proved her writing skills with masterful story telling.
I’m intrigued. I have questions and I’m pretty curious where this is headed. It didn’t end on a bad cliffhanger but there is more to the story.
Most of this book is the mystery behind Devlin. He’s a very attractive character to read as the hero. He’s got the dark looks, and dangerous vibes going for him.
Ellie’s a tough chic. She’s scared by her past and the effect her first love had on her when she was still a kid. She behaved more like the many scared men that I’m used to reading about trying to chase their ghosts away.
You get a lot of relationship angst with this couple and some of it was hard for me. I really prefer the guy chase the girl, not the other way around. I struggled a bit with his constant pushing away but I also know there is a reason for it, and you can tell he wants to give in very badly.
This felt like just the beginning and things look like they are really going to heat up for book 2.
