My Fake Vegas Boyfriend by Lori Sizemore is the first book in the Viva Las Vegas series and opens with a great story about Layla and Jace.
Set in the 1950’s the story tells the story of Layla, she just seems unlucky in love and have had some heartache in previous relationships until her father say’s that if she does not fine a decent man to settle down with he will send her to the asylum for good. Obviously she does not want that to happen but a chance comes along that she can’t miss but it involves blackmail and can she do it to this great man.
Jace works in the casino as hotel security and is very good at his job, he helps the rich clients that are caught in comprising positions he is there to sort the problem out, until he has to retrieve some pictures which have been taken but does not bargain in meeting Layla and her proposition.
I really enjoyed this story, the chemistry between these two characters was great, the story opens up both there pasts and it is astonishing that Layla’s father tries to help his daughter by putting this ridiculous ultimatum to her. I love the style of the writing which was light, easy reading and the story flowed through brilliantly. This is the first book I have read by this author and would love to read more in the future.
My Fake Vegas Boyfriend by Lori Sizemore is book one in the Viva Las Vegas series. It was a fast and great read. I had to keep reminding myself that this story took place some years ago. Only because the high society and views on women and their role. Other than that I loved the story and the characters. Layla struggles with her self image and that mostly comes from her relationship with her parents. Even the rich and well off have their own issues. Because of this Layla had a lot of secrets and a lot of reasons not to trust anyone. Jace also comes from money but he is making his own way as head of security. He’s a good and trustworthy guy who is determined to break down Layla’s steep walls. In order to get back the things that Jace needs to keep his job, they have to fake a believable relationship. Will they manage? I loved reading their arrangement. I liked how the author gave both characters amazing and relatable personalities. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
My Fake Vegas Boyfriend (Viva Las Vegas #1) by Lori Sizemore was a fun, light heart read with dark undertone that kept you on your toes and made for a unique cleché smashing read.
My first read by this author, I was captured by the title. That and, I have a bit of a weakness for the whole fake/business like boyfriend/girlfriend trope. I went in with a opened mind and right away I was captured by the writing. That opening set the stage for Layla homelife and the situation she faces if she’s can’t “get her act together”. That mother of hers is a piece of work. Be advised this story takes place in the 50’s, so socal normals are not what they are now, and woman didn’t get a whole of a say. Makes me appreciate that I was born in the late 80’s and living in this 2018 world.
As much was I want to gush about the characters, I don’t want to spoil anything, this is a character driven story so giving you their story will spoil and take away from this original read. I am going to touch on the writing. It was more than easy to read, it had a rhythm to it, and the flow sucked you in. This effect was instance, and I never got bored with it, and in truth and I don’t think I’ve read something so smooth and captivating in a long time. As much as this story was light heart and fun, it held dark undertone, especially around Layla, and at times with Jace.
This story marched to it’s own beat and it is truly something special. It took old cliché’s and trope and not only broke them, but rewrote them, and applied them in such as way, that it made this story and it’s character appear timeless and real. This book is a super high recommendation from me, please take my stamp of approval that you will get lost in this story, it’s characters and feel like you’ve been transported back to 1958.
Happy Reading

I have to admit that I wasn’t immediately drawn into this story from page one, My Fake Vegas Boyfriend just didn’t grab my full attention at first. I loved the synopsis and the promise of the book and I was disappointed when I didn’t love Layla immediately. I will say that the writing and imagery was strong from the get go, scenes where Layla was conversing with her mother actually made me feel as though I was observing them from across the room. As Jace comes into the scene the storyline picked up for me as I was drawn to his character a bit more quickly. Overall this was a really well written book, the storyline was fun despite Layla’s family and personal struggles and the characters were relatable. This is the first of Lori Sizemore’s Viva Las Vegas book series and I am looking forward to reading on.
My Fake Vegas Boyfriend (Viva Las Vegas,#1) by Lori Sizemore. This book was so good. I loved the characters and setting. Its set in 1950’s Vegas, Layla Rosas has been burned in life by her ex and her mom. If she doesn’t get a normal boyfriend and do well at her job her dad is threatening to put her in an asylum as soon as he can. Jace Russell works at a well known Casino keeping his Clients privacy and he will do whatever it takes. Layla takes some pics and by accident gets a great pic of a very “famous” client that does not want this picture published. Will Layla and Jace strike up a deal. Jace just has to pretend to be Layla’s boyfriend for a few dates to appease her dad and he will get the negatives to the photos. Only problem is Jace really wants to get to know Layla more. Will she let her guard down and trust Jace or will she be too scared. Read My Fake Vegas Boyfriend (Viva Las Vegas,#1) to find out! Can’t wait for the next book!
a great read about struggles. in 1958, Layla Rossa must prove to her parents that she is able to look after herself by getting a boyfriend. When she takes a photo on a rooftop of a scandalous scene, she thinks nothing of it. But when it brings Jace Russell to her door, she sees an opportunity. She offers him a deal, to pretend to be her love in exchange for the photos she took. Will he go through with the deal without falling in love or will it all go wrong?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Jaces blunt exterior but caring nature underneath or Laylas struggles with pain and fear but still standing up for herself. A great depiction a controlling mother as spine chilling villain making you sympathise for Layla. a terrific portrayal of depression and pain and fear in Layla. I also loved the visual detail of 1950s America with its expensive hotels and houses and cafes to give you a feel of what it was really like in its time. the switch of perspectives worked well to display both sides of events and was easy to follow. The only issue I would raise is that there was some repetition in places. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.
I have to say, that with a title like “My Fake Vegas Boyfriend” – how does a reader not get sucked in immediately? I do have to admit that this is my first ready by Lori Sizemore, and let’s just say that I was thrilled to dive into this book.
Layla’s life was a pretty hard one. It was hard to not feel sympathy her, it makes you want to make sure that she gets her happy ending. Yeah, it’s not all colored roses and fun games, but overall – let’s say that you’ll want to keep reading. I’m glad to have come across this author, as she has a good way with words.
My Fake Vegas Boyfriend is book one in the Viva Las Vegas series by Lori Sizemore. This is my first read from this author and wow, it was certainly an attention grabbing story.
Layla has been handed a bad deal. Life just keeps on slapping her down. She has varied issues because of all this, and it will take someone with patience, understanding, and a firm yet gentle approach to climb the wall she has built around herself. This story cover many situations, and the author collated them all together to deliver a colourfully entertaining story. A great story that I totally escaped into very easily. 4 stars.
My Fake Vegas Boyfriend is a historical romance with a touch of suspense by Lori Sizemore and is the first book in the Viva Las Vegas series. Set in the 1950’s this book tells the story of Layla, a slightly troubled girl desperate to get her father off her back but to do that he needs to look like she is in a stable relationship. A photo she takes gives her opportunity when Jace comes along desperate enough to get the negative that he agrees to play the part of her boyfriend. I enjoyed this book from start to finish, there was so much action and twists and turns but the story flowed flawlessly. I found Layla’s character very interesting, her past with mental illness and her horrible relationship with her mother gave her depth and made her vulnerable but she still showed a lot of strength. This was my first book by this author but I will definitely be reading more of her books and I look forward to book two in this series.
My Fake Vegas Boyfriend by Lori Sizemore was definitely a 5 Star read for me. Layla was living in the pool house on her parents property. Her mother made her think she was crazy. Layla definitely had some issues but it was due to the unstable living environment.
Layla was caught taking pictures of a high profile person which she did as a hobby. Jace was the head of security in the hotel that was in charge of keeping things private so he must get those pictures before they made it to the news or just made it to the wrong hands. When he found Layla, he was attracted to her but, he wasn’t there for that. Jace was there for the pictures and that was all. Layla would give him the photos / negatives in exchange for something. She was blackmailing him to be her boyfriend to protect her. I do not want to give any information away but, trust me when I tell you…you want to read this book. It was a great read and kept me entertained from page 1.

My Fake Vegas Boyfriend by Lori Sizemore was a great find for me. Ms. Sizemore is a new to me author whose book piqued my curiosity when it showed up on my feed. I loved the idea that it is set in Las Vegas in 1958. I wasn’t sure if I would really like it and was a little worried that it may feel a bit dated, but I needn’t have worried as Ms. Sizemore delivered a captivating story, with wonderful characters that I really loved reading. The book is an ‘unexpected romance’ story, that has blackmail, drama, twists, secrets, the hand of fate, and so much more. This is the first book in a new series, and if this book is anything to go by, not only is it off to a great start but it looks set to be superb.
Layla Rosas hasn’t had things easy- a cheating ex-fiancé, a horrible self-centred mother, self-destructive coping methods, and a father who thinks the best way to help her with all that is to place her in an asylum. She is desperate to find a way to prevent that from happening, but how? But, she may have just stumbled on a way out her predicament when she snaps a photo of a well-known celebratory in a compromising situation. Because, that snapshot brings handsome chief of security, Jace Russel to her doorstep looking to ‘destroy’ the evidence for his influential client. So what if she has to resort to blackmail to convince him to ‘help’ her. Can she can ‘persuade’ him to be her fake boyfriend for long enough to get her parents off her back, and keep her from being placed in the asylum? What happens when feelings become involved? This book is well worth the read to find out!
I am also excited to have found another author to add to my author list- I am even happier because I discovered that Ms. Sizemore has many more books in her inventory which I will enjoy exploring ASAP.
A great read!
Thank you, Ms. Sizemore!

I love Las Vegas so any book set there was already going to be on my list but add in a story set a while ago then I am totally there! Not quite historical but still set in a different time to what I usually read so I absolutely loved this story. The authors’ writing was great and the characters were both relatable and likeable. I liked Layla and Jace and could kind of see where things were heading but I still loved reading their story. Layla was a great character and I felt for her and the things that she went through.
I think that the author wrote a beautiful, timeless story and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am looking forward to more from her in the future.
Oh Mylanta! I hit the jackpot with this novel from Lori Sizemore! Not only do I now have a new author to love and obsess over, binge read, and stalk, but I now have a new favorite top five rom-com read of 2018! That gorgeous eye-popping cover drew me in before I even got swept away by the blurb. It was an instant one-click impulse buy, kind of like that gamble impulse you get at the slots in Vegas. From page one I was hooked and the rush was steady until the very end.
Everyone, well for most of us, has parents that want only the absolute best for us, everything that they had and all the things they wish they could have had. Layla Rosas’s father is no different. Except in the era, the 1950’s, he is reasonable in expecting his daughter to find her soulmate and find her pleasure in pleasing her husband and future children by meeting their needs. Basically being that perfect housewife. I was envisioning that picture-perfect barefoot and pregnant woman with the perfectly browned turkey, steam rising from it, in the pan in her gloved hands and the bright cherry smile on her face with the seamless makeup and the perfect coiffed curls. The cover model for Better Home and Gardens in 1958. Anyways, Layla is far from this picture perfect gal. In fact the picture she has is what will get her in the situation that brings Jace Russell into her life. This picture and her fear of being institutionalized for her behavior leads her to take drastic measures. What will happen when fate decides to throw its hands into the equation as well? Is there a chance that everyone will get a bit more than they all wagered for?
I had such a good time reading this novel. I found myself laughing out loud several different times until it hurt. I needed a great feel good story and something light hearted. For me it was one of those great rainy day reads that I curled up in my cozy spot with some hot tea and a warm blanket with. I promptly bought the paperback after I finished the ebook so that I could pick it up and reread it in the future and enjoy the visual view in for many years to come. Now on to find out what happens next in the Viva Las Vegas Series, My Big Fat Vegas Wedding. I’m just super excited it is already available to read now! Happy reading!
My Fake Vegas Boyfriend is the first book in the Viva Las Vegas series by Lori Sizemore. It is a romance novel set in 1950’s Las Vegas.
Layla Rosas’ parents are trying to have her committed to an institution so she has to prove that she can live a normal life and have a normal relationship. She has a very keen interest in photography. Whilst indulging in this pastime she takes photographs that could be very damaging to the person in them.
Jace Russell needs the negatives of those incriminating photographs and will do anything to get his hands on them. Layla seizes the opportunity and blackmails Jace into being her fake boyfriend in return for the negatives.
As they are forced to spend time together they both soon realise that their ‘fake’ feelings for one another are becoming real. The chemistry between the two of them is smoking.
Can Jace and Layla keep their arrangement secret? Will they give in to the attraction that they have for one another? Is there a chance that they could actually have a HEA?
I really enjoyed reading Jace and Layla’s story and look forward to reading the others in this series.

This is my first book by this author and definitely won’t be my last, I sincerely enjoyed the characters in this story even if Layla sometimes was a bit crazy, with all she had in her life from a seriously dysfunctional family to some pretty sketchy friends, everything about her simply made sense and her character was written perfectly.
I loved all the aspects of this story..I love a good blackmail in my reads and the interaction between Layla and Jace was awesome! This was one of those books where I thought I knew how everything would play out and I was so very satisfied that I was wrong on many of my thoughts.
I would highly recommend this story, I was a little hesitant about it being set in the 50’s but that never even entered my mind while reading.
Looking forward to seeing what else this author has available and seeing what else she has in store for the future.
Great Book!
My Fake Vegas Boyfriend by Lori Sizemore a four-star read that will snap you away. This is the first book in the Viva Las Vegas series and it kicks off with a bang, I am sure I will be reading the rest to see how the story progresses, the characters are just that good. Layla was a great person, she was someone who kept you on your toes all the way through, I liked how the story was set in 1958 and not in recent times as you really got swept up in how life was then, how a simple action could cause so much drama, if it was set now there wouldn’t be that added twist to the story, it would be missing something special. Lori Sizemore was a new author to me and I’m glad that I took the chance and read this story as I think I have found a new author to follow.

Ive never read anything by this author and was pleasantly surprised how fast i was drawn into this story.
The characters in this book are relatable, and I really liked them.
Layla takes some pictures that in turn become used to form a fake relationship with Jace. As feelings start to form we see their dynamic change.

I can’t believe what I just read. Layla is a compulsive liar. Her mother is a nasty person. Its awful how she treated Layla. I like Layla as a character. She had it bad and doesn’t know how to handle it. Jace was a interesting character. He had dreams for a place to call his own. I liked that he didn’t sugarcoat anything for Layla. He gave her his true self. The author wrote a well balanced book. The characters had room to grow and flourish. I felt that they were real that this couple could be your neighbor. It was unique and very funny. Layla kept you interested and Jace was the perfect eye candy.

Well this did not go how I thought it would. It was an even better idea. The story was lovely and i read it fairly quickly. The story was actually cute. I enjoyed the characters. They felt very true to life in some cases. I laughed and was even shocked and surprised.
Layla…this girls has struggles. Home life is not so good. The circle of friends she runs with…even worse. High society has certain demands on females and if they are not met. Well…everyone knows how “ mean” some females can be. Layla has a brilliant plan but it kind of smacks her on the face. Once she gets to know Jace she really likes him…but what happens when he learns her dirty little secret.
This is set in the late fifties. I was kind of surprised because if I had missed reading that line I’m not sure I would even realize it’s not current times. Other than the phone. I didn’t grow up in those times but I assumed (and we all know what that means :O-) people were more restrictive with their personal affections. So I was kinda shocked at a few of the things done here. Not that it deterred from the story at all..just an observation.
