He came back to New York to get his ex-girlfriend back.Too bad I forced him to be my fake boyfriend after he bailed me out of jail.My name’s Beth Stirling. Yes, as in ‘those’ Stirlings. But I’m the anti-socialite. Seriously. While the rest of the population is trying to get into my parents’ inner-circle, I’ve spent my entire adult life trying to escape it.But life outside that privileged bubble? … outside that privileged bubble? Not going so well.
Cheated on by my ex? Check.
Fired by boss (aka as my ex’s mistress)? Check.
Moved from penthouse to shitty one-bedroom? Check.
Coerced into helping with Dad’s mayor campaign? Check.
But when Porter goes from fake boyfriend to fake fiancé, things go from bad to worse. As my lies intertwine us, we’re both running from the mess they’ve left in our wake, and I’m pretty sure not even my Navy SEAL fake fiancé can extract us from this mess.
And I’m not sure I want him to.

Update*******26 March 20
I received a copy of this book from Hidden Gems. At the time, I hadn’t realized that I had read it about 18 months ago until I was about a third of the way into it. I continued to read it because it was just the type of book to grab my attention and distract from what is currently going on in the world.
I have to say that the second time around, it would have been nice to have Porter’s POV more often. I would not change my rating because of that. This book did its job. It took me to a place where do could be engaged and laugh, if only for a few hours.

This book was such a surprise. I was really expecting the fake fiance who happens to fall in love and they live happily ever after.
There was so much more between the pages of this book. There were twists, and turns. You got romance, mystery, suspense, jealousy, and intrigue. There were so many secrets in this book. And to top it off, there were the laugh out loud moments.
Beth and Porter were fun, funny, and in so sexy. At times, you really didn’t know what direction the relationship or the book was going to take.
Odette Stone gives you a truly entertaining book about a cowboy Navy SEAL and an ex-socialite. I definitely recommend this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy.
Odette did a great job on this book. It has the suspense, most like myself love to read in a great romance story. I found I couldn’t put it down for long and when I was busy around the house I kept thinking about this book. I won’t spoil it for anyone and tell you anything I wouldn’t want to know. I love the characters, the storyline was great, and I really like the idea of there being room to make it a series, but without a cliffhanger. I gave it 4 1/2 stars for the simple reason there could have been more put into the story, and it could have a bit more suspenseful.
This story is so good! Make sure you have everything done and no interruptions because you will not be able to put this book down! Emily and Beth are best friends. She meets Porter through mutual friends. When Beth finds herself in jail Porter comes to the rescue by telling her ex who wants to reconnect with her after he cheated on her. The Nerve! She tells him that she and Porter are a couple which gets back to her parents. Now it’s a free for all with Beth finding herself in danger as well. Porter definitely has his hands full of Beth’s drama how ill it end?

I enjoy reading, but there are times where it almost seems mechanical because the idea of the story I am reading has been done…many times over. It doesn’t make the book un-enjoyable, but it leaves it lacking something. My Fake Fiance was such a refreshing surprise! It had me physically reacting with laughs, cringes, head shakes, and the occasional sit shifting throughout. I did not want to put this book down.
Beth wants to make it on her own, without her parents’ money. Her controlling mother wants her married to the cheating ex-boyfriend and her controlling father is absorbed in his work, but it doesn’t stop them from trying to get Beth back home. She has one good friend, Ellen that she confides in along the way.
Porter can’t afford distractions in his line of work; it could leave him and his team dead. He takes a leave of absence to get himself together and support his buddy Jackson. Ellen and Porter have mutual friends, that’s how they meet.
The story is mainly told in Ellen’s POV, but the beginning and end of the book include Porter’s POV. This brought a better sense of what was going on with Porter because he was somewhat stoic through the story. I actually liked how his character was written. The writing was smooth and I felt as though I could see the plot unfolding rather than just seeing words on a page. The pacing was spot on. I did not feel as though it droned or lagged at any point. The story was well put together with surprises that I didn’t see coming (always a bonus). The progression of the story made sense, though it kept escalating for the main characters because one lie mandated another.
There is adult language ( not overdone) and adult scenes (nicely done…dream worthy…and funny). There is lots of drinking (alcohol) and there is violence (not the domestic type though).
This story deserves 5+ stars, but there were grammar/spelling issues. There aren’t many glaring mistakes, but this work deserves to be error free! 4.5 stars I would recommend this read AND I will be reading it over and over.

Does Fake Become Real?
This is book three in the Guilty Series but can be read as a standalone. I loved Beth and Porter’s story. It was heartwarming and fun to read. The story is primarily from Beth’s POV. Beth’s from high society and Porter’s a Navy Seal. Plenty of drama and lots of twists after she has Porter pose as her fake fiance’. Nothing boring in this book, throw in attempted murder, a hit and run, a cheating ex, falsley accused of drug possession and so much more. Chemistry that’s off the charts and some steamy scenes. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
This was one exciting book. The twist and turns of the storyline. The conflicts and turmoils. It was entertaining and captivating. It was well written and worth reading.

Great storyline and plot. Great chemistry and passion. Another fake fiance story that not ends as they thought it would. Well described characters. Captivating and engaging. A nice read and addition to this series.
If you have read any other books in this series you
know that it’s going to be a great read.
The chemistry between the characters is great.
Plot is real interesting and well written.

I enjoyed reading this well put together book. The author was amazing with the surprises and humor. Once I started reading I had a hard time putting this book down. The back and forth banter between the two was great.

This book was absolutely perfect! Once I started reading it, I simply could not stop. It was riveting. It tugs on the heartstrings like nobody’s business. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
An amazing hot, funny and heartwarming romance. Beth is strong and independent but wants a simple life unlike her rich family. Porter sweet and protective. Beth ends up in jail and Porter is asked to help her one thing leads to another and she expresses he is her fiancee to stop her cheating ex and parents from pushing her. An enjoyable read.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, therefore also the first book in the series I have read. It is a standalone but I will be going back and reading the first two books soon. I really enjoyed this one. It was well written and the characters of Beth and Porter were very likeable. There were steamy moments as well as humorous moments. I would definitely recommend reading this one.

I read this in one sitting I could not stop reading, it is that good! Secrets, threats, a fake engagement, danger around every corner, and overbearing and challenging parents make this a gripping story the one to read. It is well written, well-developed; the characters (Beth and Porter) are deep, strong, witty and just loveable … you will laugh, cry, and fall in love with them. If you have not read any of Odette Stone’s books then you are missing out. This book is a must read! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this standalone, yet connected novel from the author’s Guilty Series, about Porter and Beth, who become enemies to lovers via a fake relationship to so much more. Even though I had read the prior 2 books in this series, I never felt like that was a necessity, although I’d encourage it b/c I loved them. This book is really good and the author does a great job in giving enough back story so that you feel connected to the characters, but not so much that you feel bored. Oh and there’s plenty of HOT involved as well. Beth begins a fake relationship with Porter, who’s hiding more than his emotions, so that she can stave off her parents and their meddling. I felt for Porter’s character and even though I knew that he was facing some demons, I was REALLY rooting for him and Beth to get together. Will they go from fake to real? Does Porter love her? Do they get their HEA? Definitely read this book to find out, b/c it’s a winner! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I actually want to rate this story 4.5 stars (the “half off” is for grammatical errors that could be easily fixed with another round of editing).
Our heroine, Beth, is the best friend of Emily, the heroine from the first two books in this series, which do not have to be read to enjoy this book. Our hero, Porter, is a Navy Seal team member of Jackson, Emily’s husband. Beth comes from an uppercrust family where her behaviors have been dictated by her parents’ social standing. She lives on her own and has tried to live her life away from the shadow of her parents. The story takes place in New York when Porter and Emily are the godparents for the baptism of Emily and Jackson’s son.
After Beth finds herself in jail, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, Jackson calls Porter to help since he and Emily live on the naval base in Virginia. She runs into her ex, Yates, as she’s leaving the police station with Porter and ends up introducing him as her boyfriend . Things escalate when her parents find out about him and insist on meeting him for dinner. Yates, who cheated on Beth with her boss, wants Beth back. To try and stop Yates from continuing his pursuit of her, she blurts out that Porter is now her fiance. Porter agrees to keep up the charade if Beth helps him with his own personal issue. On top of all this, her life has been threatened and Porter his vow to protect her seriously.
The story is mostly told from Beth’s POV, but the prologue and epilogue are in Porter’s POV. The author uses italics for subconscious thoughts that Beth shares with the reader. As with all fake fiance stories, the fake engagement takes on a life of its own as it spirals toward the wedding. Also spiraling are the couple’s real feelings for one another as the banter they share are warm mixed with a comedic flair. A spin at the end makes this story slightly different than the rest.
This book seemed to get hotter.. or maybe it was me. This book will give you a ride that will have you hooked to this series..
I volunteer through this Arc for an honest review. I really enjoyed reading the story about Beth and Porter. Beth is a young woman who happens to have had a very privileged upbringing but due to her ex boyfriend’s actions she had decided to make a go on her own. Her best friend Emily just recently had a baby and is having Theo’s christening and is asked Beth and Porter to be his godparents. Porter is just got home from a deployment and found his home completely emptied and his girlfriend gone, she cleaned out all of their belongs. Several months later Beth gets in to some trouble, gets arrested for drug possession, when it’s not hers. Calling Emily for help, she waits. Imagine her surprise when in walks Porter. When leaving the jail, her ex shows up causing a scene, put on the spot, Beth says that Porter is her boyfriend. Things if where their adventure begins. There is a chemistry between the two, but secrets are holding them back. When Beth’s life is put in danger, Porter steps up and protects her. Dealing with everything from attempted murder, hit and runs, a knife to get throat, and a stabbing, don’t forget to add on to ex’s that don’t want to give up, it’s a great adventure. Thanks highly recommend reading this story. Great continuation and adds to the first two books of the Guilty Serious.
