I’M LIZETTE CLARY, copywriter by day and Epic Fail Girl by night. I’m an internet meme so notorious that I made a brand out of being human wreckage. Now I’m up for a promotion to New Media Editor at my real job, but there’s a catch: I have to compete with some guy named Jason Moon, a Pulitzer-winning photojournalist taller and more gorgeous than any man I’ve swiped right on.Jason says he doesn’t … he doesn’t want to the New Media Editor job, but a project that inspires him. And right now, he seems inspired to help me stop being an Epic Fail. We have to work together for six months either way. What’s the harm in becoming Jason Moon’s pet project?
I’M JASON MOON. Yes, that Jason Moon. It’s been years since I felt inspiration. My last muse destroyed my life when she left it, and I’ve been looking for a new model to relight the fire inside me. Instead, I have Lizette Clary, a party girl who comes to work hungover with a poop emoji purse. She’s brilliant, but the New Media Editor needs more than brilliance. She needs control.
I’ll help her learn to “adult,” so to speak. Lizette’s eager to improve, and by the time I’m done with her, she’ll be a great editor. My plan is perfect except for one thing… I’m starting to feel inspired by a human meme. And it’s not just passion for art.
MY FAIR MILLENNIAL is Pygmalion with Snapchat puppy ears. A hilarious contemporary romance filled with slapstick, sexual tension, and enough 2014 pop culture to leave you swinging from the chandelier. First in a new series by really good-looking and hilarious author Elle Hume.

Lizette Clary is the epitome of the saying hot mess express. She didn’t get her name as Epic Fail Girl just because, no she earned it, but when you go viral you embrace it, even if it is embarrassing, you take that as your brand and use it to your advantage! Of course there are always more layers to a person than meets the eye and Lizette Clary is so much more than just Epic Fail Girl, even if she doesn’t show it.
Jason Moon is a well educated, proper gentleman. When him and Lizette first meet there is a difficulty truly understanding one another considering she is a millennial who is used to instant gratification whereas Jason is more old school and realized that art and things worth having are worth waiting for. When they are told they will be working together they do their best to try to embrace it. They learn quite a bit about themselves while getting to know each other and I loved every bit of it. The fact that Jason has a moment where he says “It never failed to amaze me how it sounded like we were speaking the same language, yet we didn’t use any of the same vocabulary.”
Elle did a great job showing the rift between generations and how different and diverse millennials are and how they are so much smarter than they get credit for, even when the older generations have no understanding of what millennials are talking about. I loved the way Elle showed all the differences between the older generations and millennials, but also showed that if you just spend a little bit of time and put in a little effort you can learn to understand and accept others.
I felt like there were so many great messages wrapped up in these pages, and I enjoyed the romance too. It was sweet and innocent, yet it wasn’t really innocent at all. It was all that I wanted, I’m ready for the second book. I’m ready for all my questions that I still have to be answered. This book doesn’t have a “cliffhanger” but it does leave you questioning what will happen next and it definitely leaves you wanting more.
It was also very satisfying how enhanced the dialogue in this book is, I was thankful for the challenge. I have read over 100 books a year for as long as I can remember and this book actually surprised me with how many words I had to look up. I loved it! I felt like I needed to find Lizette’s word of the day app ;)!
Well done Elle I know this was a step out of your comfort zone so to speak but it was a successful and well worth the hassle step! Thank you for your words and your creativity!
I can’t wait to read more of Jason and Lizette and see what is to come with the professionalism, and the partnership, and possibly fingers crossed, the romance too!
This does take a chapter or 2 to get into but then it is full of laughter, cringe worthy moments and the hope that both Elsie and Jason can not only get along but see whats happening between them. Elsie is a hot mess and swings between seeming ditzy to super smart which shows you know there is more to her that what we first think. Jason appears to have peaked in his career and now has not only lost his direction with that but also his life in general. There is loads ad loads of laughs to be had along with a cringe worthy time or two while we get to see these two get to know each other and see what mayhem they… I mean Elsie can get up to while trying to work together.
I love this authors writting under her other pen name so I thought i would give this one a try.
Wasn’t sure if I was going to get into it as at the beginning I didn’t understand half of what Lizette was saying (similar to the way Jason felt) – which I’m sure was Elles intent! but as the characters and situations built, I got totally sucked in and realise she is not just the annoying brat who is fixated on social media that you first Think.
Superbly written and like most addictions the more you read the more you want!!! Can’t wait for book 2.
Highly recommended!! (less)
