Okay, so he wasn’t actually my ex. August is my best friend’s older brother, and he just went with me to Macy and Gideon’s wedding. You know, friends with no benefits. Then we ended up having sex at said wedding. At the reception, not during the actual ceremony. Hello, I have some manners. We agreed to not do it again. Until I thought I was pregnant. And instead of being upset, I was happy.Except I … thought I was pregnant. And instead of being upset, I was happy.
Except I wasn’t. Pregnant, that is.
Then I drunk dialed August and asked him to make a baby with me.
On purpose.
I wanted to take it back. To die of shame.
But the next thing I knew, he was at my door…
Author’s note: The hero doesn’t start out as a single father, but practice makes perfect. My Ex’s Baby is a standalone romantic comedy with a HEA ending and no cliffhanger.

This best friends older brother love story had me when they were brought up in rockstar baby. So when I found out they were making a book about Kinleigh and August I was wrapped. The undeniable chemistry between these two was instant and kept me wanting more. When kinleigh starts to getting those baby feelings the only person she could think of was August, her best friends older brother. While they both had feelings for each other Kinleigh kept August at arms length not wanting to lose the only family she has. Lots of sneaking around makes August realize he wants more then just a baby he wants it all with Kinleigh. I loved reading about other characters that were in previous books of this series.
You will smile, laugh and swoon over these two. The admission of feelings between them is what makes me feel content, he is what has been missing in her life, someone that truly loves her and would do anything for her. cannot wait to read more from these ladies.
I was given an arc to give an honest opinion.
I loved coming back to Crescent Cove and finally getting Kinleigh’s story and the oh so handsome August! These two created a fire that burned hot and yet had the angst and seriousness that I have come to love from this series! Fun comedy, getting to revisit friends from the previous books, this book will make you laugh and cry through the last page!
My Ex’s baby brings us back to Crescent Cove where I always get excited because I know that warm and fuzzy feeling is coming because of a great story. This book is intriguing, but that slow burn will have you so engrossed in this couple that you won’t but this book down.
August and Kinleigh will keep you on the edge of your seat as you watch them navigate falling in love. August Beck has a heart of gold and how much he cares for Kin oozes from the pages. He is sexy sweet and he will have you swooning. Kin gets in her head and in the way of her own happiness which will frustrate you, but will also excite you as secrets come to light. You need to read this book for the lady bug, the video app, and the furniture alone. This story had me falling in love and wanting to go drink the water in CC to get a baby of my very own along with a handsome hottie. Taryn Quinn, please keep writing this series because it hits my sweet spot every time.
Tracey, Life Reads With Friends
Friends to lovers, best friends brother and making furniture, one of a kind recycled clothes and a baby. It’s another couple in Crescent Cove where there is a current baby boom. August is so sweet to Kinleigh and their chemistry is sizzling. Loved it!
MY EX’S BABY is the eight instalment in Taryn Quinn’s (Cari Quinn / Taryn Elliot) contemporary, adult CRESCENT COVE erotic, romance series focusing on the small town of Crescent Cove. This is furniture maker August Beck , and shop owner Kinleigh Scott’s story line. MY EX’S BABY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Kinleigh and August) MY EX’S BABY follows the friends to lovers relationship between furniture maker August Beck , and shop owner Kinleigh Scott. August Beck has been in love with his sister’s best friend for as long as he can remember and sharing retail space finds Kinleigh always on his radar and on his mind. A one-night stand following Macy and Gideon’s wedding (Daddy in Disguise #7) meant getting up close and personal with the woman he loved but August never expected Kinleigh to push away any thoughts of a future until our heroine suggest a baby, together. What ensues is the building relationship between Kinleigh and August, and the potential fall-out as Kinleigh struggles with demons from the past, and the fear of losing her best friends in the process.
The relationship between Kinleigh and August is a friends to lover…there is NO ex’s baby so the title is a bit of a distraction. August is desperate for a relationship with our story line heroine but Kinleigh continues to be oblivious, pushing August away, yet pulling him in as she battles between head and heart. The back and forth is disconcerting to our story line hero-Kinleigh’s mixed messages begin to threaten her friendship with August as August begins to rethink their time together but Kinleigh has kept her past a secret, a past that continues to control her life. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and flirty secondary and supporting characters including several couples from the previous story lines: Gideon and Macy, Murphy ‘Moose’ Masterson (Baby Daddy Wanted #5), Ivy and Rory (Rockstar Baby #6) . We are reintroduced to Sheriff Jared Brooks, and August and Ivy’s brother Caleb.
MY EX’S BABY is a story of family, friendships, heart break and love. The premise is emotional and inviting; the romance is spicy and sensitive; the characters are spirited and inspiring.
Love this book! Could not put it down! The push and pull between these characters was awesome!
Another great read! I just love everything Taryn and Cari write!!! Their writing always has me feeling I’m one of the group. Everyone is having babies in Crescent Cove. This is Kinleigh and August’s story. August is Ivy’s brother and Ivy is Kin’s best friend. Because of the friendship the line has never been crossed even though there are some feelings between the two. But a wedding, a condom and some alcohol changes that. With too many second thoughts Kin is trying to avoid August but can they avoid their feelings too. Then we have a girls night and more alcohol and bam these two are on fire and on a mission. This book had me laughing out loud. It’s a great read with fabulous chemistry and lots of sexy times. These authors never, ever disappoint!!!
This book was an awesome read. Hard to put down. Everyone needs a August in there life. So sweet, nice and caring. I cant wait for more from the cove.
I like to have the ah-ha moment where I figure out how a book got it’s name. This one has me stumped. Also Kinleigh was a little on the too obsessed with her past side for my liking. Not that I don’t understand it, it was a little annoying for me. Other than that I loved August and his insights!!
I think may be the best one yet bit then they all get better as the series goes on. I loved this book it was definitely my favorite. I laughed I cried oh it was wonderful. The characters had an amazing chemistry the book had an easy flow of words. I definitely recommend this book. I look forward to the next book of the series.
If you love reading fun romance with a guaranteed HEA and a baby then the Crescent Cove series is the series for you! Best friends older brother is always a fun trope and August and Kinleigh have been circling around each other for awhile. Kin is getting baby fever as well as baby envy because everyone in Crescent Cove is either expecting or has little ones. So after one crazy night after Macy’s wedding August and Kinleigh finally act on their attraction. August wants more but every time he pushes, Kinleigh pulls back. She has hidden scars but August is determined to get her to see that he is in it for the long haul not the quick romp. These two are in for a bumpy ride because neither character is willing to back down on their wants. My Ex’s Baby was told from dual POV and even though all of the characters interact throughout the series each book really does stand alone but I definitely recommend reading the rest. It has plenty of heat, a bit of angst and lots of laughs from the Crescent Cove characters.
This is book 8 in the Crescent Cove series and could be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the previous books before this one as you see most of those characters in this book. In this one we get Kinleigh and August’s book! Kinleigh is best friend’s with Ivy and August is Ivy’s brother. They are both attracted to each other, but Kinleigh has always ignored it because she doesn’t want to lose her best friend. A drunken encounter gives Kinleigh a pregnancy scare, but when it turns out that she isn’t. She is heartbroken and makes a drunken offer that August can’t refuse. But can they both understand how much they mean to each other and make things mean more than a fun time?
I absolutely loved this one! Kinleigh is this woman who has issues that resonate and make you hurt for her. But it also makes you understand some of the decisions she has made in her life. And watching her realize that she is worth so much makes it so you can’t help but smile and get teary eyed. August is this phenomenal man who is willing to do anything and everything for the people he cares about. But he is also just this naturally good person. There wasn’t anything that I didn’t love about this man! Their chemistry was off the charts and there is lots of laugh moments, but it’s just a naturally feel good story that sucks you in and keeps you wanting more when it ends!
Okay, so I am a big fan of the Crescent Cove series by the lovely and talented ladies that write as Taryn Quinn. And, yes, I’m going to say it, MY EX’S BABY, the 8th (yep, 8th!) book in the Crescent Cove series, might just be my favorite so far. Do I say that after each book? Maybe, but, I have to say, August and Kinleigh really had my heart.
I mean, what’s not to love here? A touch of the forbidden, quirky, lovable characters, chemistry for days, and a small town and friendly faces that we’ve come to know and love…yes, please. And, y’all, when I say chemistry, I mean the off the charts, get out the fan, pour a cool drink sort of chemistry that had me wondering where in the world August Beck had been all of my life. Talk about book boyfriend material, this man is it.
I adore Kinleigh, too. Trust is difficult when you’ve never had a solid example, but I can’t think of a safer place to land than Crescent Cove. She scored big time in the friends that have become family scenario, and watching her get the life that she didn’t even realize she wanted, well, this is the stuff of love stories, friends.
MY EX’S BABY was a quick read for me, simply because I could not put it down. Once I started this story, I was not coming up for air until I got to the very end, which was, in true Taryn Quinn fashion, exactly what I hoped it would be, but better. Are you getting that I just really loved this book? Yeah, so make a place for this one high atop your TBR, and for all of the others in the series, too, because they are just that good. But, wait, there’s more, because, the ladies have more Crescent Cove goodness up their sleeves, and I can’t wait. If small towns with characters that you wish you could hang out with, and love in the air and in the water are your jam, grab these. They will not disappoint.
The Crescent Cove series is so much fun to read. Each character couple gets their own story. This one is about August and Kinleigh. They’ve known each other for some time. She is his sisters best friend. Because she is his sisters best friend she is afraid to pursue any ideas August has of a relationship. The chemistry is hard to deny. So much so that she finds herself in a lip lock more than once but then avoids August afterwards. August is frustrated. Does she like him or not? I highly recommend this book. Each in the series is a stand alone but characters from other stories appear in each so spoilers may happen if read out of order.
Another great book in the Crescent Cove series. Love the way the sweet gets mixed in with the steamy.
This creative couple definitely did things differently. But it ended perfectly.
Pent up feelings, secrecy and family issues are overcome by the power of love.
As always, I live the authors writing which draws me in, feeling like I am there. And of course, lots of steamy scenes.
OMG Kinleigh repeatedly rebuffed August so many times, and gave green light/red light mixed messages, however, his ongoing devotion was heartbreaking, angst-producing, heartwarming and sigh-worthy. He stuck with it and her, because he knew she was The One for him! I loved his hands-on but creative profession and how often he supported Kinleigh in her business, (without her noticing, or even thanking him for all the ways he was there for her). We eventually find out why Kinleigh pushes August away and why her relationship with his family was so important to her.
It was fun to see them cross paths and socialize with other couples in the Crescent Cove Universe and OMG there is going to be a need for a huge Day Care/Nursery School in this community!! Lots of new characters/friends related to Kin’s business. I love how supportive the women in these stories are for each other – no judgement, unconditional support, a little bawdy, etc. Major highlight was Macy and John’s wedding. More please in this series, ASAP. Loved it!
I think that August is the perfect book boyfriend. Kinleigh is a different story. She has always had a crush on him but because he is her best friend’s older brother she won’t act on it. However, after a pregnancy scare, they decide to try to have a baby together. August is all in but Kinleigh wants to keep things a secret. She pushes him away unless she gets what she needs from him. I didn’t like the way she treated him. I did like the way the book ended.
It’s a New Years Eve wedding for Macy and Gideon and it seems as if all of Crescent Cove is in attendance including the little ones….and you know weddings are a great place for a hookup, right?!?!
August and Kinleigh are friends or at least they’re friendly because Kinleigh and August’s sister Ivy are best friends and have been for years. Kin is considered a honorary member of the Beck family they are so close, so it’s only natural that she would have some feelings towards August but those are not brotherly feelings, nope not at all.
Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn do a fabulous job with bringing these two out of the “friend zone” and into the “I wanna jump your bones zone” this story was very hot because we all know practice makes perfect so when at first you don’t succeed, try, try again and again and again. 😉 But it was also an emotional read because of Kin’s past….
Here’s a disclaimer that should be put on a sign when you enter the town:
Unless you’re looking to get pregnant don’t drink the water in Crescent Cove.
Seriously though either the women are pregnant, have just had a baby, or are trying to get pregnant….there has to be something in the water because none of the men seem all that freaked out about it ether.
This was a great addition to the series but it can be read as a standalone, which I can attest to because I’ve been jumping around in the series and missed a couple of books here and there. So if you enjoy the best friends sibling troupe or just a hot and steamy contemporary romance I would recommend this book to you.
Happy Reading!!!
Another Fabulous, Must Read Story
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. Yet another fabulous story from Taryn Quinn. I just love their books. This book had me glued from the first page, I couldn’t put it down. I loved the interesting, well written story, the engaging characters worked really well together and I loved their fantastic chemistry and interaction. It was romantic This is a great, entertaining, must read book which is intriguing, exciting, emotional and all in all a brilliant story. I really can’t wait to read more from the brilliant duo Taryn Elliott & Cari Quinn
