Is blood truly thicker than water?
After the year she’s had, Reverend Margot Quade is ready to spend New Years at a cozy bed and breakfast to recharge. The Lord has other ideas. The other guests are desperately in need of some pastoral counseling: a married couple at odds, a young woman with a dark secret and a solider headed off for a tour of duty. When the soldier, Private Parker, ends up … ends up dead, Margot can’t help but investigate.
Without her usual crime fighting partner, Margot teams up with another amateur sleuth to find the truth. At first glance, no one seems like the obvious suspect and when Private Parker’s belongings go missing, Margot suspects there’s more to the young soldier than meets the eye.
As evidence points to one of the guests, Margot digs into the connections linking the victim and the potential killer. What she finds threatens to expose a deadly secret. One that could ruin more lives if not brought to light.

I love real clean cozy mysteries. Sarah Biglow continues to hit this nail on the head with My Brother’s Keeper. Even though Margot is a member of the cloth, she does not beat on the readers with her Christian beliefs. This book is fairly short, but the story is filled with deceit, drama, and humanity. Any reader of this series would not be disappointed.

I couldn’t put this book down! There was so much in such a quick read. Margot really wanted a murder free New Year, but nope! Body in the snow, couldn’t miss it! She had help figuring this one out with the other guests, Kalina and her husband Chris, a police officer. This was a great mystery and I loved how things came to light.

Margot Quade, former Army Chaplain, was in need of a weekend away at a B&B to relax and unwind. She thinks she has found that in Collingwood, VT. But when she steps into the back yard after a snowy and windy night, she spots a dark smudge of fabric on the ground at the base of the front porch under the newly rearranged snow drift. Hoping she was wrong, she starts to dig through the snow and discovers the frostbitten and very dead body of soldier Dennis Parker with a bullet wound in his chest.
Margot and a sleuthing married couple, Kalina and Chris (Captain Christian Harper, Ellesworth Police) try to find out what happened and who committed the murder.
This was my first time reading this series. Since I love cozies, it was very comfortable jumping right into the crime scene with Margot and friends. The characters were likable and the story line flows well to keep the reader entertained as we try to figure out the mystery. Grab your copy and enjoy!

Margot wants to have some peace and quiet for the New Year holidays and books herself into a small B&B. There she meets another couple and a young man and woman who seem to have a secret. When the young man is found murdered outside the house the next morning, Margot knows she is in for a busy time. Interestingly enough, the other couple is also familiar with crime scenes and stars in their own Cozy series. The three team up to solve the murder.
As the story is told from Margot’s point of view – this is her story.
A set of unusual characters and an unexpected twist help to keep the reader interested in the story. An enjoyable read throughout.
