Nico’s it for me, too bad he’s my brother’s best friend … law firm he owns, all those feelings are threatening to overflow.
He says he doesn’t do relationships, and that work is all he has time for, but when things heat up between us I know I’ve found something worth fighting for. I’ll prove to Nico that I’m the guy for him. It’s time to throw out the old rules and make new ones of our own.

Jamie has had a crush on his brother’s best friend, Nico, since he was 10 years old. The summer before his final semester of law school, Jamie takes an internship at his brothers firm where Nico is assigned as his supervising partner. Spending all this time together makes Jamie realize that his crush is still there and Nico realizes that he likes Jamie more than he has every liked anyone before.
I feel bad but I just didn’t connect with this one. It was entertaining enough but I just didn’t feel it. Nico is your typical man whore who has his come-to moment when he sees Jamie again and realizes that he wants more with him. Which is fine but I just didn’t feel his emotions and/or love. Then with Jamie I just felt I was reading from the point of view of a female not a male. His inner dialogues just gave me a female vibe which isn’t what I am looking for in a mm book so it kind of irked me. Maybe it was just me but I didn’t feel this book as much as I wanted to.
My Brother’s Best Friend by Aiden Bates & Ali Lyda is the first book in the Brotherly Love series. This is a contemporary m/m romance with the forbidden love theme of the best friend’s broth. An entertaining story with angst, steamand interesting characters.
Tyler Darby is a good narrator for this story. Great voicework and recording that adds to the entertainment value.
I loved Nico and Jamie’s love story. It was sweet and steamy with a large dose of swoon. I absolutely loved the closeness each man had with his family and the fact that Jamie had such a large family seems like a good plot for more stories in this world!
I love any book that have Aiden Bates name on it, just because his writing style. In this case, what made me love this book is how easy is to follow the story and immerse in the plot laughing and suffering with the characters making it a really enjoyable reading. The premise is uncomplicated, well handled and followed up until the last consequences, with a balanced quote between angst and happiness and hot. Finally, at the end, all settled nicely and we even have a future book to expect (Saint’s story). Great reading!!!
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion
I liked the premise, I liked the setting of the story. I REALLY liked the characters and their background. It all should have yielded an awesome, emotional roller coaster. It was a good book and I enjoyed reading it, but can’t help feeling a bit disappointed at how predictable the turning points were, to be honest. I would have loved for it to surprise me a bit more, as the beginning promised a lot.
3.5 stars….I am a complete sucker for this trope…the forbidden, “I have a crush on my best friends brother” trope and I found this read enjoyable. Jaime Cauldwell has had a crush on his brother Saint’s best friend Nico for years. He now finds himself interning for the summer at his brother’s law firm for,you guessed it, Nico. Nico suddenly see’s Jaime through new eyes. He is no longer Saint’s little brother but a sexy, sweet guy that he knows he should not want but does. The chemistry between the two is off the charts, but at times Jaime came off as a bit more immature than 26. Overall a steamy read with a little drama thrown in, but ultimately an HEA
I loved this book on so many levels. Brother’s Best Friend is one of my favorite tropes to read, and this one hit the spot. The chemistry between Nico and Jamie is fantastic. Jamie interns at Saint and Nico’s law office for the summer and lands right where he never thought he’d be, mentoring under Nico, his long-time crush. There’s one problem though, Saint’s stupid rule of “no dating friends” that gets in the way. Even though Jamie’s character did seem a bit younger than his twenty-six years at times, it did absolutely nothing to take away from the story for me. This was a great read and I cannot wait to read Saint’s story next. I do highly recommend giving this one a try.
When Jaime is looking for a place to intern after completing part of his law studies, his brother’s office turns out to be a much more complicated place to work than he expected. Funny how working with his long time crush was a challenge!
Imagine the awkward when he starts dating him. Nico is not only law partner and best friend to his brother, but a total slut who has slept his way through much of the same sex population in the firm, and in the city! Big brother failed to share that info because it wasn’t his story to tell . Not very protective for a big brother!
Nico could also have warned Jaime, so he wouldn’t hear the details from everyone else- to the great delight of past conquests
Romance can be complicated, since love and trust are complicated
Intense and funny m/m romance!
