I can’t borrow him. He’s not a sweater or a skirt. He’s not even her favorite dress—the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him.In my defense, I didn’t know who he was. To me, he was a cool, calm, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape. To an … landscape.
To an outsider, we probably appeared more friends than hopeful lovers. But my blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. We definitely shared a spark of what could be.
Too bad I didn’t know who he was before I fell for him, because he can’t be mine.

Blanca and Ethan were everything! I laughed, cried, got mad and cheered for this couple that overcame a lot of obstacles, I wanted to choke some other characters, but I’m glad they came to their senses! I can’t wait for the next book! Piper Rayne books are the best!
4.5*
I am loving the rooftop crew, what a fun group of characters Piper and Rayne have created! Blanca, her roomies, and the guys across the hall- they make me want to hop a train and move to Clifton Heights.
After meeting Blance in her brothers series I knew I wanted the girl to get her own hea- she deserved it after putting up with those fellas! I like how strong and fiesty she is, able to hold her own against all that Italian testosterone. In My Bestie’s Ex she’s making a new start for herself after reconnecting with her childhood best friend.
One fateful train ride introduces her to Ethan and an instant connection is forged. I really liked these 2 together. They had great chemistry and you could tell how much they enjoyed each other. Ethan, as charming as he was, was a bit of a hard nut to crack at first- a little hot and cold which became a bit frustrating, and not just for Blanca. But when we finally realize why, it made a lot more sense and I was actually sad for him.
As the title suggests, Ethan’s a lot more than just a hot stranger on the train. But by the time he and Blanca realize just who he is, in relation to her best friend, they’re both too far gone to turn back. Although bestie did her best to play the sisters before misters card and caused some heartache for our couple. That irritated me a bit, if I’m being honest. I did try to put myself in her shoes, so I guess I can kind of understand where she was coming from. But I’m glad Ethan wasn’t having it and made a stand for his woman, with a little help from his friends.
This was such an entertaining start to the Rooftop Crew series. I can’t wait for the rest of the crew to get their books!
What a good time this read turned out to be! I mean even the conflict of the story was fun to read (obviously because it wasn’t my conflict LOLOL).
I’ve loved this author duo from the moment I read my first book by them years ago and my live is still strong! They know how to bring you a feel-good story with a curveball that will honest to goodness make you smile thru the entire thing. These are not moments where you smile. The story is a huge smile. *happy sigh* I just love them!
I am so happy that we finally got Blanca’s story! I’ve been dying for it ever since her brothers’ series, White Collar Brothers. This is a complete standalone from that series though so you can dive right in, fall in love with the brothers in their cameos and go back and binge their stories. I’m a sucker for the angst surrounding a forbidden romance and this one was so dang fun.
Blanca and Ethan meet on a train one Sunday night after they have spent the day with their families. They immediately have a connection but their relationship becomes complicated very quickly and edges on the side of completely impossible. Blanca knows exactly what she wants in a relationship and isn’t afraid to say it. Ethan is much more reserved and closed off when it comes to relationships and there were many times where I wanted to reach into the words and smack him. He was very back and forth for a while, even before the major bump in their road to a happily ever after and I wish there would have been a little less of that.
The side characters in this story are wonderful! The new characters we meet are so fun, friendly, and loyal. There are also cameos of Blanca’s brothers and their girls which I was so dang happy to see. I love her brothers so much and I’m so glad I saw them again!
I am so excited for the other two books in The Rooftop Crew series, A Royal Mistake and The Rival Roomies. I love this entire crew already and can’t wait to see what they all get up to as the series continues.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
If you have read Piper Rayne’s White Collar Series like me you would have been waiting for the younger Mancini, Blanca’s story and this talented duo have not disappointed me.
I knew I would love Blanca and I did. Her sass and witt was highly entertaining. Her personality shown out. The chemistry she had with Ethan was palpable from the moment they met on the train. They were so well suited.
I did struggle with Ethan at the beginning. His indecision and blowing hot and cold really annoyed me. Blanca has way more patience and forgiveness then me. Once he made the decision to be all in though I started to like him more.
They have introduced some intriguing new characters who I now cant wait to see their stories and it was lovely seeing the rest of the Mancini’s and their significant others.
Well done Piper Rayne this is a great start to another new series I am going to become addicted too.
A slightly different story from this writing style duo but one that still keeps you entertained by the enjoyable storyline and terrific characters.
Blanca Mancini is a twenty-eight ex banker who realised she hates that profession. Moving out of New York she meets Ethan Roland on the train one Sunday evening and then the next morning!
I loved Blanca’s sassy comebacks and her fun banter. She has a nurturing and caring personality that speaks volumes but she stands up for herself as well, I suppose that comes from being the youngest of four and all older siblings being boys. Ethan is a charmer but his indecision nearly did my head in at the start. I liked him but not quite as much as the other male characters. In saying that as I got to know his character better I liked him better too.
This story reminded me quite a bit if the television show Friends in the way the characters interacted, their camaraderie, good humour and the way they had each other’s backs. Also in the physical similarities too including the apartments in the same building and a place of business where they get together.
I’m looking forward to reading the next book already.
“My Bestie’s Ex” Book 1 of Piper Rayne’s new series The Rooftop Crew is one helluva great read. I absolutely loved getting to know Blanca Mancini and her new group of friends. In this book, Blanca falls for sexy Ethan, a man she meets on the train late one Sunday evening. Ethan in turn feels an incredible pull towards the sexy Italian bombshell. Imagine their surprise when they discover that they are work colleagues! Ethan decides to put a stop to their growing attraction because he does not date coworkers. Unfortunately they’re not able to resist one another and they cave. Things start to heat up nicely when fate steps in once again, this time when they realize that Ethan is actually Blanca’s BFF and new roommate’s ex. Cue.the.insanity. What I absolutely loved about this story and about my new book boyfriend Ethan, is that he did mot give up on the girl or their relationship and set about making sure that they got their happily ever after. A fantastic start to a new series that I can’t wait to get more of. TBR and enjoy.
Piper and Rayne are writing goddesses. They have gifted us with a great group of friends and I cannot wait to get to know each of them better. This is Blanca and Ethan’s story.
Ethan and Blanca meet on the train on the way back to their quaint little town of Cliffton Heights from visiting their families in the New York City Area. The attraction is instant and you can feel it through the pages. I love when the chemistry is so strong they can’t fight the pull and believe me there is quite a few things standing in their way, some they don’t even know about at the beginning.
As you can surmise from the title of the book Ethan is Blanca’s friend Sierra’s ex, but neither of them knew the other because Blanca and Sierra had lost touch for a few years but now they are roommates which is why Blanca is living in Cliffton Heights.
This book, and I will guess this entire series based on the first book, is a bit heavier then the last few books Piper and Rayne have written. This doesn’t have the lighthearted feel of the Bailey series but it’s not something that will gut you either. It’s deep, intense at times, but there is a lightness weaved into it so I didn’t feel the need for tissues.
If you enjoy the show FRIENDS, you are going to love this series because that is the feel you get right away when you meet everyone, especially with how they have apartments close to one another and the roommate situations. This was a great start to the series and I am really looking forward to getting to know each of The Rooftop Crew a little bit better.
Happy Reading!!!
This is the 1st in a new series which is a spin-off from the White-Collar Brothers and is Blanca who is Don, Enzo and Cam’s little sister’s story. When Blanca and Ethan meet there is an instant connection between them, and they have more in common than they first know. No spoilers: this is a definite must read you will not be disappointed. This is a well written story which is realistic and filled with drama, undeniable chemistry, witty banter, and humor. I was totally captivated throughout his addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read the next book. I highly recommend theses gifted authors’ work for all.
Blanca finally gets her Happily Ever After. Lana~White Hot Reads
Blanca and Ethan are super cute. They are destined to be together but have a couple of hurdles to overcome. First being that they end up being coworkers then realize he’s her best friends ex. As they try to come to terms with all that is happening, they realize that they want to be together but are not sure how. This is a cute start to a new series.
This was a fun easy to read rom com with a side serving of drama. Both Bianca and Ethan were easy characters to like and the premise of the story was well executed. I loved the way they intercated from their witty banter to the more emotional conservations. Bianca was sweet but fiesty and Ethan was charming if a little frustrating at times. The pace of the story was perfect you really feel like you know not just Biance and Ethan but the secondary characters as well. Im looking forward to the next book in this new series.
I knew going in My Bestie’s Ex would be hilarious, I didn’t realize it would also be heartfelt! Blanca and Ethan have amazing chemistry right from the start. I loved the flirting and witty banter they had from the start. It wasn’t hard to see that they had an undeniable connection.
Blanca is a breath of fresh air. She doesn’t waffle with her feelings and she plays zero games. She knows what she wants and goes after it. Ethan will piss you off in the beginning, only because he can’t decide what he wants. There were times when I wanted to beat him upside the head. When the two finally come together it’s an explosion of chemistry and that undeniable connection. Their relationship seems so easy and effortless. Which I loved about them.
Sierra wasn’t someone I was a fan of until the last part of the book. I understand where she’s coming from but at the same time I wanted to scratch her eyes out .
My Bestie’s Ex was an amazing read with heart pumping chemistry, excellent writing, and a couple you can’t help but root for!
Piper Rayne has become come of my one click author so when I saw this one I knew I had to read and it. I really didn’t pay attention to what it was about so I was pleasantly surprised to find out this one is about Blanca, who is the sister Mancini’s brothers from the White Collar Brothers series. This is a completed separate series from the White Collar Brothers series so you don’t have to read that series to love this one.
Blanca is a great, down to earth girl. She needs a change so she reconnects with her old best friend, Sierra. Blanca hasn’t really hung with Sierra in a while so she doesn’t know Sierra’s ex but Sierra doesn’t really have much nice to say about him. Blanca meets Ethan on a train. They hit it off. Their relationship is complicated. They both have rules that they follow but rules are meet to be broken. Ethan and Blanca are cute and they have great banter. I loved everything about these too. The whole Rooftop Crew are interesting and I can’t wait to read all their stories.
4 1/2 Stars!
Some books are special from the first page, from the moment you are are introduced to characters and from the moment you realise these are people you can connect with, well this book is all of those things and so much more, it captivated me, it had me hooked and I loved the friendships and the banter the characters shared in this new series The Rooftop Crew.
What can you say about Bianca Mancini that hasn’t been said before well we have meet her in previous books but now it’s time for her to get her own story and what a story she has to tell and let me tell you all I’m sure by the end of her tale you will all be wishing she was your best friend. Bianca needs a fresh start so she decides to move to a small town to start over, a new job and a new home may just be what is needed but what about a new man ……
Ethan travels back to New York every Sunday and it’s on one of those trips that he meets Bianca, the chemistry is sizzling the banter is witty and truth be told they never expected to meet again…. the last thing either of them expected was to be co-workers …….
This story has a lot more to it than two co-workers falling for each other and the path to true love can sometimes be a bumpy road with a few twists and turns along the way in fact nothing in this book is predictable and that’s one of the things I loved about it. The story is entertaining, the characters are adorable and I loved the laugh out loud moments as well as the holding my breath while swooning moments, I loved it all and if this book is anything to go by Piper Rayne will have another hit series.
I really can’t wait to see where we are taken with the next book in The Rooftop Crew Series.
This book was absolutely phenomenal!! Like I loved every single moment of this book. Like being able to see the Mancini’s again was amazing. And for Blanca to get her own book was so rewarding to finally see!!! And I liked that they separated it and let her have her own separate series and crew and I am loving this crew so hard!!! We all know how free-spirited and loveable that Blanca is. And how she can keep up with any of the boys but those three Alpha over protective, over bearing, possessive brothers of hers are going to be hard to get by. Ethan oh Ethan how I love him!! And I really connected with him on some similar childhood similarities. And understand why he was “ashamed ” and wanted to hide what he came from and what he had to live in. Even though it was nothing to be ashamed of or even his fault. He was just a child and was nothing that he could have done. But he felt that was weakness and vulnerabilities and when he finally broke down and let Blanca all the way in it was like a brink on my shoulder lifted. Like I was just carrying all this weight for him. And then all that Blanca went through with Sienna was just breaking my heart for Ethan and Blanca. This is just the beginning of an amazing series and I can’t wait to get to know all these other guys so much more!!!! Piper and Rayne are a couple of my rock stars and they continue to rock my world!!! – By Tina
I loved this book! I had read the three books in the White Collar Brothers series previously, and My Besties Ex picks up right where those leave off. It was like seeing old friends after time apart. I was nearly bouncing in my seat with excitement!
I found Blanca very sweet and endearing in her brothers’ books, so I was pleased she finally got a story of her own. She is so down to earth and easy to like. I think she and I could be friends in real life.
Ethan was charming but also maddening at times. When you know his motives, you can kind of understand his reactions, but he was driving me (and Blanca) crazy with his ever changing moods!
The plot was steady and interesting. I kept waiting for them to realize their predicament; the anticipation and dread were immense. I never once lost interest and was sad to see the book end.
This is book one in a new series, The Rooftop Crew and it can definitely be read as a standalone. That being said, I’m super pleased with all the familiar faces and thought it enhanced my reading experience to know the characters well. I look forward to book two!
It’s been a while since we were immersed in the NYC Mancini ‘White Collar Brothers’ world of Dom, Carm and Enzo. So, it was a delight to finally meet ‘the brothers’ sister, Blanca.
My Bestie’s Ex is the first book in the brand new ‘The Rooftop Crew’ series by the wonderful duo authors, Piper Rayne.
Blanca has just left all that she knows behind and to the small town of Cliffton Heights after reconnecting with a long-lost childhood friend.
But during a train ride to her new apartment, she meets a guy. Ethan is sweet and sexy, he likes to talk, and the get on like the proverbial ‘house on fire’.
Ethan really likes Blanca and is ready to ask her out on a date the next time they met up, but before that happens, he discovers she’s his magazine’s newest hire…
And Ethan doesn’t believe in co-workers having relationships outside of work.
But, their job actually forces them to spend more time together, and without even seeing it coming, he’s ready to give it his all.
Until, the shoe drops.
Boy, does it drop.
Blanca is suddenly faced with a quandry, one no girl wants to be in. Who matters most, the guy she’s just met and fell head over heels for- or the friendship she has just regained? It’s a girl code dilemma instead of the ubiquitous bro-code we often see.
This was a light-hearted look at a subject that could be more difficult depending on the people involved. Blanca’s friend, Sierra, was understandably put out but she really needed to put it in perspective too. Piper Rayne worked their usual magic and gave us the ending we wanted but not without a little angst.
It was great fun catching up with the Mancini brothers and their significant others as well.
This book was a fabulous read and one I heartily recommend.
Awk-weird becomes adorably sweet. With a few bumps and bruises along the way. Piper Rayne pulls the frenemie card and sets emotions on fire. Blanca and Ethan are a joy to watch as they navigate through the storm of their feelings. Yet things turn salty a bit quick when a surprise revelation threatens to put the breaks on romance. Can love survive the drama of a woman scorned? My Bestie’s Ex takes the heart on a turbulent journey of humor, heartache and maybe love. What a way to enjoy the ride.
I love Piper Rayne! This is a new series spinning off of the White Collar Brother series featuring Blanca Mancini. What would you do if find out the guy you are falling in love with is your Bestie’s ex? Read to find out! Totally loved both Blanca and Ethan. Great introduction to the whole Rooftop Gang who will be in the rest of the series. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.
You know when your watching a movie/tv show and your yelling at the characters cause all the signs are there. Yeah, that’s what I was doing to Blanca. I know, I know she can’t hear me but it made me feel good. Lol.
I’ve patiently waited for Blanca’s story. Piper and Rayne did not disappoint. Ethan is the perfect match for Blanca. I hope there is some more roof top scenes though in this series. I can’t explain how excited I was to see more of Dom, Enzo, Carm and the girls. I love the sibling bonds in Piper & Rayne’s books.
