I can’t borrow him. He’s not a sweater or a skirt. He’s not even her favorite dress—the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him.In my defense, I didn’t know who he was. To me, he was a cool, calm, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape. To an … landscape.
To an outsider, we probably appeared more friends than hopeful lovers. But my blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. We definitely shared a spark of what could be.
Too bad I didn’t know who he was before I fell for him, because he can’t be mine.

Book One in an exciting new series from Piper Rayne and if My Bestie’s Ex is anything to go by this will be another fabulous series. Whenever I see the name Piper Rayne, I know I am in for an entertaining read and My Bestie’s Ex was no exception. This one had me hooked from the start. It has such an easy, light feel and I loved the concept of two strangers meeting and falling for each other without realizing that there’s trouble in the horizon.
I adored Blanca and Ethan! They had off the charts chemistry, the kind I could feel burning through the pages. I couldn’t get enough of their flirty banter, and I devoured their story. It’s fun and sexy, with plenty of laugh out loud moments weaved in seamlessly with hot ones. Piper Rayne worked their usual magic and gave us the ending we wanted but not without a little angst along the way. It was also great fun catching up with the Mancini brothers and their significant others as well.
I am so excited for more from The Rooftop Crew series! This book introduced some fantastic characters who already have some romance brewing of their own. Blanca and Ethan’s story has definitely set the precedent for another fun and sexy series that I’m definitely looking forward to from the highly talented Piper Rayne.
Holy Sweetness Overload Batman!! I absolutely positively fell head over heels in love with Ethan and Blanca’s story. The title of this story makes it super intriguing in and of itself…I mean come on My Bestie’s Ex! We all know that’s a big NO, NO!! Right?!
This is the first book in a new series of stand-alones called the Rooftop Crew. So here we have this gorgeously curvy Italian bombshell who meets an amazingly hot guy on the Sunday night train. He seemed perfect, the situation was like out of a movie, they had an instant connection, almost kismet. Well except for just a couple of minor details, dating faux pas if you will. Each of which alone could be deal breakers by themselves, but alas they were pulling dating deal breaker doubles. BUT I LOVED THEM ANYWAY!!
Blanca just had a really horrible day. When she runs into an old friend, Sierra, they are able to quickly reconnect and the catastrophe that was her current situation starts to look up. She moved out of the city to the smallish suburb of Clifton Heights and quickly immersed herself into Sierra’s small group of friends know as the “Rooftop Crew.” BTW I love this crew of friends! They are FABULOUS!
When she went home to visit her family for their standing Sunday dinner she couldn’t have prepared for the connection she would form with the hottie on the train. They were flirtatious and fun. She’s sassy and sweet and fun-loving but she sees what her brothers have found and she wants that, she can almost picture dreams of that with Ethan from the train.
Ethan is this funny, gorgeous guy but he’s hiding big parts of his life from those around him. He won’t allow himself to get close to others. So when he walks on Monday morning to find the bombshell he was falling for on the train is his new coworker, he knows immediately he will shut down any shot they did have at dating.
The chemistry between these two is off the chain. They are hot, they are hilarious, their chemistry is combustible. The back and forth with these two about gives you whiplash but that’s part of what makes it so amazing. This story was the perfect blend of sweet and swoony but flaming hot and delicious. There was this magical balance of just the amount of frustration and angst I’m looking for, I call it a sweet spot. It’s great for your soul, y’all!
It keeps you interested and engaged. There was not a dull moment in this book. I was never tempted to skip ahead. It kept me from page one and I flew through it anyway because I had to know what was happening from one page to the next. From Ethan to Blanca, to the rooftop crew, to Blanca’s brothers. You have an entire cast of secondary characters that add even more humor and charm and tons of giggles.
So you’ve been warned. If you are looking for a little bit lighter of a read with just a little bit of frustration and angst thrown in, this is the perfect book for you!

My Cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up!
– Ethan and Blanca are wonderful characters, they were not perfect and both had some stuff they needed to work though, but together they were great. The Rooftop crew are an amazing group (one took me longer to come around to, but imma a fan now ) and I love what they each bring to the story. Each person is totally unique and I can’t wait for the magic that I know will be brought in each of their stories. So start this series today!!
– I’m gonna call him edible Ethan, because he is so darn delicious!! The scenes were super hot, yet sweet at the same time So pretty much perfection!!
Cliffhanger Warning- OMG!! This is the #HappyEnding we all want lol
Piper Rayne has a new series which starts with this one. My Bestie’s Ex is an amazing read that hooks you from the first sentence and takes you on a ride.
I couldn’t wait for Blanco to get her story. She loves her family but the over protectiveness of her brothers can drive her a little crazy. She moves from New York to Cliffton Heights.
On the train to her new place -rooming with Sierra her childhood friend she meets a hot guy named Ethan. There is something there- they are like a magnet. Throughout the story I liked how they interacted with each other. I was smiling and laughing while reading. . I also enjoyed how thoughtful Ethan was and that he was being protective regarding his family.
I read this book in a few hours. Loved the characters and story line.
One of my favorite quotes was
“You can’t survive without money. A big heart doesn’t put food on your table or a roof over your head.”
Piper and Rayne are the perfect writing duo. I loved their introduction to this new series, The Rooftop Crew. We meet Blanca Mancini in The White Collar Series as she is the baby sister of Dom, Enzo and Carm. Being Italian and having 3 older brothers she comes from a loving italian family that can be over protective at times. Blanca has just left her job as she was feeling unfulfilled and is looking for a fresh start when she runs into her best friend from her childhood, Sierra. She moves in with Sierra and starts a new job. Enter Ethan. The moment they meet the chemistry is instant. They have a connection and hit it off immediately but a relationship between them is forbidden for more than a few reasons. The story was an easy-read with humor and light angst. The characters were well developed and I was invested in the story from the first page, and could not put it down. PIper & Rayne are an incredible author duo and this is another fabulous read by them.
4 STARS.

This book!!! I instantly fell in love with Blanca and Ethan!! This book is so swoon worthy, laugh out loud funny and you feel like your a part of the rooftop crew while reading it. Blanca knows how to hold her own especially growing up as the baby sister to three older brothers. This large Italian family are a barrel of laughs but have each others back through thick and thin. Blanca quits her job, moves her life an hour and a half away to move in with her bestie that she reconnected with. Little did she know that a train ride home will change her fate. Ethan, the man with a shield up so high to protect himself it’s hard to chip away at it. This two from the very beginning have fire in their eyes and I couldn’t put the book down. The push and pull between these two in the beginning was driving me crazy. I kept saying aren’t they or when will they? I was entranced with this story and I’m sad I finished it, but I will definitely be re-reading it again and again!!
My Bestie’s Ex is the first book in The Rooftop Crew. This is Ethan Ryland and Blanca Mancini’s story and is a spin off from White Collar Brothers which I haven’t read yet! Notice the yet.
I first discovered Piper Rayne in getting to read The Baileys Series. And I am happy to say that I love that Piper Rayne is made-up duo of Piper and Rayne. They write seamlessly together.
Blanca first meets Ethan on her train ride to her new home in Cliffton Heights. Blanca is moving in with her best friend Sierra Sanders that she has just re-acquainted with. Turns out Ethan is Sierra’s EX. And Blanca dating Ethan is a big no no! I loved reading their story and it was also great meeting all the Mancini’s Dom, Enzo & Carm. (If you have read the White Collar series then you may have already met the Mancini brothers) Blanca’s very interfering brothers.
Ethan is so full of personality! He sounds fun after their conversation and sharing of food on the train ride when they first met! I think I fell in love with him during the train ride!
It was also great to read about all of Sierra’s guy friends that live in the same building, I can’t wait to read more from this new series. Sierra’s story is next in A Royal Mistake coming out soon the second book in The Rooftop Crew!
What a treat!
I loved this!!! If you’re a avid Piper reader like me then you know we met Bianca Mancini before. And now she gets her own book and starts a whole new series. And what a great story
Blanca and Ethan are such wonderful characters and their story is a whirlwind. They meet, find out their coworkers and just when their feelings for each other come out, they realize it can’t go anywhere. It’s heartbreaking, funny and i love that it includes a whole group of friends. I think that’s one of the things I really enjoyed was how we not only get a couple we get a really good group of people that have a great friendship. This is one you’ll definitely want to read.

Can I just say I love Piper Rayne! Ok, now that we have gotten that out of the way let me tell you about the cutest story I just read. My Bestie’s Ex.
You know the story. Your bestie had a boyfriend, they broke up, you meet him and bam . . . love happens, but then there is that girl code thing. That line you don’t cross. Well, let’s just say Piper Rayne crossed it and it was amazing.
There was nothing typical about this story. The chemistry amongst the characters; hero, heroine and supporting cast are outstanding. The story is light, with some serious overtones. The read was easy and five stars were earned. I am so excited to read the rest of the books in this series
This author and book is a first for me and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. This is a awesome book for romance readers and this cover is gorgeous too.
This story was written beautifully and boy can this author write, I absolutely loved reading this book. This book is book one in The Rooftop Crew series.
The Rooftop Crew #1 My Bestie’s Ex.
Blanca has had enough so hands in her two weeks notice at her fiance job which she spent four years studying for, she’s just not happy. Blanca hadn’t seen Sierra for years they were childhood friends together but when She asks her to move to the town just out side the city and moved in with her she does. She finds a new job and is glad of the fresh start.
Ethan is a hardworking man who is also not so happy.
Ethan has had things real tough lately too after breaking up with his girl, he has alot going on especially with his family.
Blanca ends up working in the same place Ethan is. But when they meet on the train you can feel their connection so strong, the magnetic pull is strong. But are these two souls meant to be ?
Is fate going to bring these both together ?
(NO SPOILERS).
These characters are meant for each other and this author writes them well. They both have amazing chemistry and awesome banter and are great together. I love Blanca and her overprotective brothers too. This book had humour, love, hope and friendship. My only thing was some parts of the book were very predictable you knew exactly what was going to happen.
I highly recommend that you read the first book in this series first so that you know who everyone is and where you are up to.
Thank You to the author and publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book.
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
This book is expected to be released on 18th February 2020
is book was so cute. The relationship between Ethan and Blanca is incredibly sweet. The meet on a train where attraction ignites immediately only to discover they are coworkers and Ethan has a strict no dating coworkers policy. Jokes on him though because the pull between the two of them is just too big for either of them to ignore until they find out he is her best friends ex. We get lots of cameos from the Mancini brothers and get to meet the incredible rooftop crew. I cannot wait to get more from this dynamic group of friends.
****I did receive a copy of this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review****
When Blanca Mancini decides to quit a job that doesn’t fulfill her, she doesn’t have a follow up plan. Then she encounters the childhood friend she’s been distanced from since her college years and the invitation to come live with her and her roommate opens up a new realm of possibilities.
On the train ride to her new home Blanca will meet Ethan and the attraction between the two will be almost instant, but when they meet again the following day at work, it looks like things will be more complicated than following the simple course of an ongoing attraction.
This story was a great beginning to a new series. Sexy, fun and romantic in good Piper Rayne fashion, it’s also filled with the depth of Ethan’s family woes and Blanca’s deep ingrained sense of loyalty. The main characters make a great couple and the set of new characters are too fun for words.
I really enjoyed this book, its pace and development and I can’t wait to read more about all of the Rooftop Crew.
5 scrumptious stars
I recently discovered Piper Rayne and have loved everything I have read; My Besties Ex fit right in. These ladies know how to make a story fun and sexy!! I really enjoyed how the subject of dating your best friends ex was handled! Everyone knows it’s taboo, but what would happen when you don’t know??
Blanca met the perfect guy. She was instantly drawn to him; little did she know she would be working with him at her new job.
Ethan had one rule, do not date co-workers. But something about Blanca wanted to make him break it. When he decided to go for it, would it backfire on him as soon as he met her friends?
How could the one person he was drawn to be best friends with his ex? Would she choose her or him? Would he be OK with her decision?
What a read!! I couldn’t even imagine what I would do in that situation!! Super fast and fun read that kept me intrigued to the very end! I can’t wait to see what they have in store for the rest of the gang!!
What a start for the new Rooftoop Crew Series!
After introducing Blanca in the White Collar Series, which is about her brothers (so go check these books out, cause they are fabulous) we finally get a book about her.
And what a ride this one was. Since the title already gives it away, Blancas perfect match is no other than the Ex of one of her best friends. And we all know, this is a no go. So i was damn curious how Piper Rayne would solve this huge problem.
If you are as curious as I was, go and get yourself a copy. I promise you will not be able to stop reading until the very last letter.
You get tons of chemistry, a hot, swoon worthy hero and a heroine you have to love.
I also loved all the new characters that were introduced in this book and can’t wait to read more about them!
Blanca’a HEA had me enraptured! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
I adored this story of the man who would not date his co-worker to the man who was all in. Poor Blanca had to suppress her feelings for him… because he is her besties ex… neither of them knew this at first but to see how this gets resolved is wonderful. I love the chemistry of the characters !!!
4.5 Stars
I have a feeling that Piper Rayne can do nothing wrong while it comes to writing a steamy, sweet and intense romance. And they proved me right again in My Bestie’s Ex. This is whole new world with the same amazing feels. Their writing magic never gets old. Adorable and lovable characters. Incredible chemistry. And a full package of entertaining, butterflies-in-stomach, sexy, funny and honest emotions.
This series is giving me a bit more intense and angsty vibe than The Baileys and I am loving the extra edge! This series is related to the Mancini brothers but you can read it without reading that series. I personally loved meeting those gorgeous men again! This is the story of their youngest sibling and only sister Blanca. She has left the lifeless and boring job in Finance and moved to Cliffton Heights to work in a small magazine called Mars and Venus. Her estranged best friend Sierra has helped her and they are rooming together. She meets Ethan on an interesting train journey and later finds out he is her co worker. They have sparks flying since day one and Ethan slowly opens his brooding self to Blanca. Till the fairytale comes to a screeching halt as they find out Ethan is Sierra’s ex.
Ethan has my heart and soul in his virtual hands. All the swooning, sighing and crying cannot express my love for him. He is charming, he is sexy and he has a golden sense of humor. But he is also a bit broken, with vulnerability, sadness , anger and sufferings. And I love him whole. Blanca is the perfect person for him. She is sweet, kind and a heart bigger than ocean. But she also never backs down from challenges including making Ethan happy. I absolutely admire her for thinking about her friend first even if Sierra did not handle it properly. Their chemistry is so amazing! The heartbreak and desolation only intensified their longing and attraction. You will find Piper Rayne’s special brand of humor that will make you double in laughter. But I loved the intensity of emotions even more. And I am already hooked to the Rooftop Crew and I cannot wait to read more.
Piper Rayne made me laugh, swoon and cry with the brilliant feelings in My Bestie’s Ex. I am falling a bit more in love with their storytelling in each new story.
Received ARC for honest review
Just when I think I am over an addiction with a book series, I start the cycle again. That my friends is a very good thing a book reader needs. So here we go again. I have a new book series that I am addicted to and won’t let go.
My Bestie’s Ex is all about the forbidden. My heart raced and I could not get enough of the ….well forbidden. I am so happy we get Blanca’s and Ethan’s story. It was meant to happen and Piper Rayne brought IT!!!! You need to read this Book Now!!
My Bestie’s Ex is my first foray into Piper Rayne’s books. I know, this is unbelievable to some as they have so many amazing books on the market, but I just haven’t had time to sit still and read something from them until now. From what I am gathering, this is spin-off of another series (after a little digging I found of it’s the White-Collar Brothers series) but can be read as a complete standalone. That goes for the other books in this series as well. Now what do I say about this one? Hm. Overall, I really enjoyed reading it. I loved the intense connection between the two main characters (Blanca and Ethan) and their banter with one another was humorous. They get along like two peas in a pod and watching their newfound friendship turn into more was exciting. I think the title gives away where the drama comes in, but to what extent is something you need to find out for yourself by reading. I personally found it a bit sad (not in a tragic kind of way, though) and it made me feel a little anxiety, but Piper Rayne did a wonderful job at bringing out the vulnerabilities in her characters. I truly loved this as I feel not every author can pull it off. The friendships in this series though are what really makes the book shine and I am so excited to see the other characters get their own love story! They really deserve it.
If you’re looking for a brand-new series to start in 2020 then you’ll want to check out The Rooftop Crew series by Piper Rayne. Readers can expect humor, undeniable chemistry, and realistic themes peppered through these books. I certainly plan to not only read the rest of the books in the series as they release but their past releases as well!
A slightly different story from this writing style duo but one that still keeps you entertained by the enjoyable storyline and terrific characters.
Blanca Mancini is a twenty-eight ex-banker who realized she hates that profession. Moving out of New York she meets Ethan Roland on the train one Sunday evening and then the next morning!
I loved Blanca’s sassy comebacks and her fun banter. She has a nurturing and caring personality that speaks volumes but she stands up for herself as well, I suppose that comes from being the youngest of four and all older siblings being boys. Ethan is a charmer but his indecision nearly did my head in at the start. I liked him but not quite as much as the other male characters. In saying that as I got to know his character better I liked him better too.
This story reminded me quite a bit if the television show Friends in the way the characters interacted, their camaraderie, good humor and the way they had each other’s backs. Also in the physical similarities too including the apartments in the same building and a place of business where they get together.
I’m looking forward to reading the next book already.

My Bestie’s Ex is the first title in The Rooftop Crew series. I’m a huge fan of the writing duo of Piper Rayne, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting Blanca’s story since her three older brothers found their happy ever after in the White Collar Brothers series, and what I got was a sweet, sexy, often angsty and fun forbidden romance.
This pair are endearing and captivating. They are quite different in many ways, but also quite similar and well suited to each other. Blanca is friendly and openly affectionate and caring, whilst Ethan is more reserved and standoffish and a bit of a loner. Both are creative, passionate, dedicated and driven.
Their chemistry is undeniable and whilst this title lacks the underlying humour of some of this duo’s previous titles their banter is still fun and flirty, and quite often heartfelt.
In this title readers are introduced to a cast of characters that captured my interest and I look forward to future additions to this series.
