I can’t borrow him. He’s not a sweater or a skirt. He’s not even her favorite dress—the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him.In my defense, I didn’t know who he was. To me, he was a cool, calm, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape. To an … landscape.
To an outsider, we probably appeared more friends than hopeful lovers. But my blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. We definitely shared a spark of what could be.
Too bad I didn’t know who he was before I fell for him, because he can’t be mine.

Another hit from Piper Rayne.
My Bestie’s Ex has a very different vibe from a lot of this duo’s previous works. Or maybe it is because, having read the White Collar series, I knew what was coming, so I just kept waiting for that proverbial shoe to drop. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if my heart could take it.
Ethan and Blanca are funny, and I really enjoyed their interactions. One of the things I love about Piper Rayne’s writing is how good they are at creating that build up of tension between two people until it hits a breaking point. Ethan and Blanca are two magnets being pulled together, and everyone knows you can only fight that pull for so long before it wins out.
And holy hell the first time Ethan kisses Blanca? I actually felt my heart skip. So many feels.
There is a lot less interaction with the secondary characters in this one, which gives the reader a chance to really focus on the relationship between Ethan and Blanca without outside influence.
Based on what we do see of this group of friends, I am 100% invested in this series, and I’m excited to see where it goes.
I signed up for the other books in this series.
I enjoyed the writing style of the author.
It took a while for me to warm up to Ethan, he was like a rollercoaster with his moods. Once you get into the story and start learning his secrets he grows on you.
Blanca seemed to have a solid foundation and was very loyal. Enjoyed the friendly banter.
My Bestie’s Ex by Piper Rayne
This is the first book in a new series, The Rooftop Crew. A spin-off book from the White Collar Brothers series. This was my first Piper Rayne book and I will definitely be going back for more!
Blanca quits her boring finance job with no plans for what will come next. She walks out of her old office and comes face to face with her childhood bestie Sierra after parting ways for college. With their friendship rekindled Blanca ends up moving away from the city and to live with Sierra on Cliffton Heights and is quickly welcomed into a new friendship group.
Blanca meets Ethan after a chance encounter on a train ride home from the city after visiting family. The attraction is instant and the chemistry between these two is intense! As the title suggests there is a slight hiccup in the plan – Ethan is Sierra’s ex…Blanca is stuck with choosing between her bestie and her boyfriend.
I absolutely loved this from the start, right through to the end. It was such an easy to read book with plenty of intrigue and anticipation to keep you hooked and wanting more. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series and being let into the lives of the other characters I met here.
I was so excited to read Blanca’s story and it didn’t disappoint! Her and Ethan were perfect!
When we meet Blanca she has just quit her job in finance which her heart just isn’t in. She bumps into an old friend as she is leaving, one thing leads to another and she is moving away from the city and moving in with her best friend from childhood Sierra.
Through as series of accidental meetings, she bumps into a guy on the train, there is an instant connection, she then discovers he is her new work colleague! Ethan’s number one rule is he doesn’t get involved with colleagues! That didn’t last long!
It was fab catching up with Blanca’s family who we all met in the White Collar Brothers series! As always with Piper Rayne stories I love all the side characters and I can’t wait for them to get their own stories!
Longtime fan of Piper Rayne, so I always get a bit overexcited whenever I know a new book is on the horizon, and as soon as this title hit my e-reader I immediately jumped right in and was probably the best decision I’ve made this month (so far lol).
If you read the White Collar Brothers series, you’ve already met youngest sister (and only daughter) Blanca and her step towards independence from her family by quitting her finance job and moving out of the city, which all comes together when she runs into a childhood friend, thus setting her on the new path in her life. Her first train ride from the city to her new home has her meeting a young man and they’re inexplicably drawn to each other, so imagine the shock when they arrive at work the next day and discover they’re co-workers.
There’s plenty of push and pull between them (mostly on Ethan’s side, that man gave me a severe case of whiplash lol), and there’s no question of the chemistry between them, but Ethan’s got some personal issues he hasn’t quite fully dealt with yet; he doesn’t let people get too close to him on a personal level, he seems to want to keep things on a shallow surface, which is definitely a hindrance when it comes to relationships. And as much as I loved the push/pull between Blanca and Ethan, I was anxiously anticipating the moment when Blanca’s new crew meets the new man in her life, cause talk about chaos!
I loved the secondary characters in Blanca’s life, and can’t wait to get my eyeballs on each of their stories hopefully in the near future!
Blanca left her job in finance and her home in the city because she wasn’t happy with where she was going in life. Fate seemed to be on her side when she reconnected with her childhood best friend who offered her a place to stay in the neighboring suburb of Clifton Heights.
On the train ride to her new home, Blanca meets someone who seems to be way too perfect. Hoping to see him on the ride again next week, she’s pleasantly surprised to find he is her new co-worker. But, Ethan doesn’t date coworkers and he’s super wishy washy in what he seems to want from Blanca . . .friendship or more even though their attraction is off the charts and they have a great time hanging out. Once he decides he’s all in, however, things appear to be great, until they discover that Ethan is Blanca’s BFF’s ex boyfriend.
Following the BFF code, Blanca breaks things off, even though she doesn’t want too. But, Ethan isn’t willing to let her go without a fight.
Blanca and Ethan were really cute and sweet together. His inability to commit was frustrating, but as his backstory unfolded, I understood his motivations more and more. Blanca is just too sweet and always puts everyone else first and I was thrilled to see that by the end of the book, she was done sacrificing her own happiness. It’s a really sweet romance with an awesome cast of friend characters that I can’t wait to see fully developed in their own books.
The lunch scene with all of the Mancini brothers and their significant others was amazing and worth the read for fans of the White Collar Series. And, Piper Rayne gifts readers with a look at the next friend to fall in the Rooftop Crew series . . and, it’s going to be epic. My Bestie’s Ex was a really sweet romance with an awesome cast of friend characters that I can’t wait to see fully developed in their own books.
4 stars!
My Bestie’s Ex is a new Piper Rayne series about Blanca and Ethan. I’ve been dying to read Blanca’s story since she was introduced in the White Collar series about her three brothers. I love how Blanca and Ethan met and their instant connection and chemistry. This story is sweet, funny, sexy, and just the right amount of angst. I’m excited to read the rest of the stories in the Rooftop Crew series.
I am going to love this series! This new world Piper Rayne has created not only has some wonderful characters but I can see so much drama coming to this group of friends.
Blanca Mancini has followed her heart, she has changed careers and moved to a new town without really knowing anyone except her childhood best friend. Then she meets the perfect guy on the train ride home from her parents. Ethan is not only the perfect guy from the train but also her co-worker, things get very interesting between these two since Ethan has a rule of not dating co-workers. But what is the rule for dating an Ex’s best friend?
Blanca and Ethan had so many close calls that you never knew when the big shocking moment was going to happen. I understand girl code but what if the friend is acting like a selfish brat – so not cool. It was great to see the Mancini brothers again and have some fun moments with Blanca.
I highly recommend any and all of Piper Rayne’s books, you will always be entertained and fall in love with their characters.
Bianca and Ethan meet on a train one night and they keep meeting in different places. The problem is that Ethan is Bianca’s best friend’s ex. Bianca didn’t know this when they got involved and Ethan had never met her. I loved how the relationship between the couple develops and they can’t fight it. A good read and am looking forward to more in the series.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
4.5 of 5 Hearts
LOVED!!! This book is fun witty and everything I adore about Piper Rayne.
Seriously, this book had me in a goofy smile and snorting. I just loved it.
One cannot help but fall in love with Bianca Mancini and Ethan Ryland’s characters. These two are just too darn perfect for each other.
One of my favorite ladies this year is miss Bianca. I loved her sass and how she went after her man. She knew she wanted Ethan. Then the truth comes out and her heart shattered. Luckily, she comes from a large family. LOL. I was so thrilled to see the guys.
Man was Ethan driven, guarded, and a rude little prick until he meets his match on the train. Or maybe our guy was misunderstood? I really adored this man and all that he had been through. He knew what he wanted and went for it. He really was swoon-worthy with our girl.
If I have not sold you one these two then click the book for the amazing supporting cast that Piper Rayne has once again given us. You will adore them all.
You need to one-click this book!!
As if I was on a perfect date on a warm summer night, Piper and Rayne, have created a whole new cast of characters that were playful and irresistible with the start of The Rooftop Crew Series.
Blanca Mancini was a character who was an absolute delight to read. She was fierce in her beliefs, strong willed, lovable, and downright fun. While Ethan was complex, he managed to show a softer side to the one woman he had his sights set on.
While reading this book made me feel warm and tingly, it more importantly captured the importance of true friendship and the lengths a true friend would go to ensure the other would not hurt.
So, what do you say? Want to spend some warm nights under the stars with a new group sure to win your hearts? If so look no further than My Besties Ex.
As Always, Happy Reading!
“4/5 Beaming Brains!” – Lit-Up My Mind
Piper Rayne never disappoints.
I‘m a sucker for Piper Rayne‘s books and I love everyone of it.
But this series! I already know it will be my favorite after the Bailey‘s.
Ethan and Blanca are soulmates and you can already see that in the first few chapters of the book. Blanca is a strong, independent woman who doesn‘t need a man but doesn‘t change when she meets Ethan. Thanks to the Blurb you already know what‘s going to happen but I was still surprised in some scenes. Ethan is just a hearthrob and you understand why he is who he is thanks to his past.
One thing I didn‘t like about the book was Sierra.. OMG I don‘t know if I can enjoy book 2 with her
I enjoyed this book so much and can‘t wait for the next books in this series.
Blanca gets her HEA with the start of a new series! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
I love the Mancini brothers and so glad that we get Blanca’s HEA with the start of a new crew!! This story his home in so many levels and you will not want to put this book down. A Co-worker/ex of the best friend love story that throws the love of family in the mix. I cannot wait to see all of the rooftop crew get their happily ever after.
There’s the girl code. You know the one – and it’s one Blanca can’t break, even for the gorgeous Ethan. The Ethan who has commitment issues but who is really a sweetheart. Can Blanca and Ethan really have it all – each other AND Blanca retaining her friendship with a certain friend?
I love this angsty, will they, won’t they love story. Once they finally got together, they were a fabulous couple. They’re witty and fun and the tension between them, the chemistry is HOT! This is a great start to a new series – cannot wait for more of the Rooftop Crew!
Blanca is a Mancini…enough said! She is the baby with 3 older, protective brothers who is starting on a new path.
Ethan is a great guy, but we only get glimpses of his true self at the beginning. He is very indecisive, and his past plays a huge part in his current behavior.
The secret twist is known almost immediately … duh title, but it makes the build up that much more enticing. The whole time you will be waiting for the truth to come out.
I really liked these two together, but I feel like their connection didn’t have enough time to fully develop before the book ended. I’m hoping we get more of their story in the next books.
As always, being in the Mancini world is so much fun. The scenes that included Blanca’s brothers were some of my favorite.
-An Arc was generously provided in exchange for an honest review.-
I loved this first book in the new “The rooftop crew” series, Piper & Rayne built up the story phenomenal like usual. It is an enemies to lovers type of story but not really because they don’t know they should be enemies. The book contains everything from friendship, hate, love and passion.
Also the Mancini brothers make an appearance in this book as they take care of their little sister. I love their protectiveness. Who doesn’t love Carm, Dom and Enzo and Ethan just fits right in with them. But the brothers don’t take over their story. This is een brand new series i am going to love to read.
4 stars
My Bestie’s Ex is the first in a new series from author duo, Piper Rayne. All books can be read as standalone.
Meeting the handsome guy from the train was a coincidence. Him turning out to more than just the hottie from the train was a disaster. Blanca and Ethan hit it off within minutes of meeting on the train and shared one of those “all wrapped up in each other” meet cutes. It was powerful moment in time with the potential for so much more but this train is bound for the land of complications. Despite their better judgement, they overcome one complication after another, but some codes are just too important to break.
I very much enjoyed My Bestie’s Ex. Ethan and Blanca’s chemistry was palpable and their witty banter was adorable. I loved the witry banter of the rest of the rooftop crew, despite Sierra’s immaturity. Great read and I can’t wait for more!

My Bestie’s Ex is a meet cute you won’t forget! This story will leave you wanting to find the best local bagel place and perhaps taking a train ride or two. The chemistry in and out of the office will keep you entertained from start to finish. Blanca takes no crap from anyone and I love how she gives as good as she gets, especially from Ethan. While this can be read as a stand along, I definitely recommend reading the White Collar Brother series first, so you can fall in love with the perfection that is the Mancini brothers, before reuniting with them in this book. I’m so glad Blanca finally had her story told, and it was well worth the wait!
