I can’t borrow him. He’s not a sweater or a skirt. He’s not even her favorite dress—the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him.In my defense, I didn’t know who he was. To me, he was a cool, calm, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape. To an … landscape.
To an outsider, we probably appeared more friends than hopeful lovers. But my blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. We definitely shared a spark of what could be.
Too bad I didn’t know who he was before I fell for him, because he can’t be mine.

Good read
enjoyed it!
Loved this book & story. Love conquers all, trusting your instincts.
Entertaining tale of friendship bonds and romantic ties.
I love the characters but the main character reactions were rather strange. She seem to think that her best friend should control what she did without any working together or finding a solution. The overall story involving all the friends was most entertaining and I loved how the friends were so different but they manage to love each other and care about each other.
Good story about friends and relationships. I liked how Ethan and Sierra finally talked and worked things out. Blanca has a very close family that most of us would love to have.
Nice story. Too much poty mouth lanhuage, too much explivite sex, juvenille and trashy.

As Blanca Mancini is leaving her banking job for the last time she runs into her bff from school and suddenly Blanca is moving out of Manhattan to small town Cliffton Heights. The last thing Bianca is expecting on the train ride back after visiting her family in Manhattan is to meet a handsome, intriguing man who fascinates her from the minute she sees him. Spending an hour together on the train engaged in fun and witty banter, she never expect to see him again.
Ethan Ryland can’t believe the instant connection he has with the beauty on the train or the entertaining time he has teasing her. He just never expected to walk into work the next day and find the new journalist in the cubicle next to him was the very same woman. His instincts collide over dating a co-worker but it isn’t long before the two are producing interesting and opposing articles that pull in readers.
Once the two get past the co-worker issue they quickly find a connection they can no longer fight. The only problem is Blanca is completely unaware that Ethan is her best friend’s ex and things didn’t end well.
Blanca’s best friend Sierra comes with a wide range of interesting friends that instantly become like family. But what will happen when they meet her new boyfriend and discover who he is?
This is such a great story. Blanca has quit one job because it wasn’t her and has reconnected with her best friend since childhood. When she is on a train headed back to her apartment she meets a man and they connect. It turns out that they will be working together as well. What she doesn’t know at the time is that said guy is her best friends ex boyfriend that she has grown rather fond of. As they work they get closer together and their feelings for each other grow as well. Do these two have what it takes to make it forge a romantic relationship and when Sierra gets wind of it, will Blanca stand up for what she wants or keep Ethan in the friend zone so she doesn’t lose her childhood friend? You will find yourself empathizing with Blanca who is caught in the middle.
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
We meet Blanca who’d just quit her job in banking because it just didn’t suite her. She meets her old childhood friend, Sierra who takes her out to dinner to celebrate the rekindling of their friendship. Sierra then invites Blanca to move to Clifton Heights and become roommates.
I absolutely loved this book especially Ethan and Blanca. I loved the bonus scene too
Piper has once again given me characters that make me laugh. Blanca and Ethan are instant attraction that leads to a slow burn. A chance meeting with sparks that leads to co-workers that may be off limits. Ethan was certainly hot and cold but the lovely sassy Blanca certainly gave him a run for his money. They soon realize that being co-workers may not be their biggest problem and when it all comes out it is going to get more than messy! This couple was funny, sexy, frustrating and had amazing witty banter! I fell in love with them and their crazy supporting cast .

My Bestie’s Ex was the first book in the Rooftop Crew series by the authors Piper Rayne.
Blanca Mancini was the baby sister to the Mancini brothers from The White Collar series. Although, it was not necessary to have read that series first. She had a career in banking and realized she was still young enough to change directions and start doing something she loved versus staying in a career simply for the security. She quit, got a new job as a writer and reconnected with her childhood friend as her roommate. Along the way, she met the man of her dreams, her co-worker Ethan Ryland, and life was good, until it wasn’t.
Generally I don’t recommend reading a series out of order – and I don’t here. However, I’m glad I accidentally read Sierra’s story, book two, A Royal Mistake, before I read this one. Thankfully they can be read as stand-alones so I didn’t miss much, but it allowed me to see Sierra in a different light so that I could focus on Blanca and Ethan.
In the end, it was a fun and quick read. As expected, humor was at the forefront and the bonds between “the Rooftop Crew” were entertaining and amusing. I enjoyed the storyline as well as the characters. Since I’ve already read book two (which I loved), it’s time to dig into book three, The Rival Roomies, and I can’t wait!
Loved this book. Did not realize this was a new series based off the “Mancini Clan”. Loved Blanca & Ethan. Can’t wait for Dylan’s story!!!
Blanca recently reconnected with Sierra, her childhood best friend, who convinces her to move in with her in a new town. Eager to reunite and start the next chapter of her life, Blanca leaves her hometown. She also gets a new job at a local newspaper. On the train back from the city and toward her new life, Blanca meets a handsome stranger and they connect immediately. They meet again on Monday – Ethan is now one of her co-workers.The chemistry between Blanca and Ethan is electric and undeniable. Yet, Ethan doesn’t seem as eager to bend his rules to not date co-workers as Blanca is for him to break them – and this isn’t even the main conflict in the story. Once Ethan tosses caution to the wind and starts dating Blanca proper, the next roadblock on their path shows up. Ethan is Blanca’s bestie’s ex-boyfriend, bring along a whole new set of problems.
Another fantastic book by Piper Rayne. I love the realism, likable characters, and hot chemistry between the hero and heroine. My Bestie’s Ex is one of those books that draws you in and keeps you engaged. I rooted for Ethan and Blanca even with Sierra hanging between them. Blanca is a strong character and I was excited to see her become even more independent and grow. Ethan is a wonderful character with rules to protect himself. His backstory is sad and how he reacts to familial situations made me tear up. He’s been holding on to so much baggage that doesn’t allow him to see his family for what it is currently; he only sees and feels things from the past. Fortunately, Blanca and Ethan are perfect together and their relationship allows for revelations of his past and personal growth that benefits not only himself but his family, as well.
This book as all the feels and I loved everything about the story, the characters, the setting, and romance.
Oh man my ladies Piper Rayne know how to get my hooked on a book. They never disappoint.
I remember Blanca from their previous series with her brothers and I loved her spunkiness in them. So when I read that she was going to be the first book in this new series I was so excited! And how her and Ethan meet is just too damn adorable.
Ethan was super cute. There was something about him that I loved but then hated lol. But that hate was only for like a chapter and a half haha. I understood it but I am not saying I like his reasons. But to see him and Blanca together was so cute.
I am so excited for the next book in the series and just this whole series in general. Loved all the friends and their group. It just is going to be a really good series like all Piper Rayne’s are!

recommendation
This is the first book in the Rooftop Series.
We have met Blanca before though, in the Mancini Brothers White Collar series.
Blanca is the baby sister. I wanted her book and I’m so happy we finally have it.
She’s making some big changes in her life. She left her job in finance and moved out of the city and away from her family. Not far, only an hour train ride. But that’s big for the Mancini’s.
Ethan is her co-worker/mystery man.
I really like both characters. I did like how Blanca was following girl code, but knowing how selfish Sierra is, she didn’t put up a fight at all. I was a little let down by that. I wish that she would have stood up to Sierra more.
And I wanted to see Ethan meeting Mama Mancini so bad, I wish that would have happened.
This is a great start and I can’t wait to read more.
This was the first book that I have read by Piper Rayne and I absolutely loved it!! This is the perfect beginning to a new series, The Rooftop Crew. I fell in love with Blanca and Ethan just as quickly as they did each other. I fought with myself between wanting to read faster to see what would happen next and wanting to slow down because I didn’t want their story to end.
Blanca and Ethan have an instant attraction to each other but have a few obstacles that they have to overcome to get their HEA. This is most certainly a book that I highly recommend! I can say that while this may have been my first book by Piper Rayne but it most definitely won’t be the last. I can’t wait to follow each characters journey to their own HEA’s and to find out how this series will unfold!!
Blanca Mancini’s story is here and I’ve been waiting for this especially since I couldn’t get enough of her brothers in the White Collar Brothers series. I’m so glad Piper and Rayne went and started a new series with Blanca in My Bestie’s Ex!
I’ll be honest, I was a little bit nervous about the trope because it’s not one that I would gravitate towards, but I was hooked on Blanca and Ethan from the beginning. They fell into things so effortlessly and I just couldn’t wait for their next interactions. And boy we get plenty of it and it was all going so perfectly. But holy sh*t, I never been so nervous about all the possible things that could happen once the truth came out.
Plus you have Ethan’s rule of never dating a co-worker and my goodness that irked me to no end. He constantly surprised me by how firm he was about sticking to that rule. And there were times when he crossed that line with Blanca and I was like you cannot be doing that to her! That is not fair, figure your sh*t out. That’s what I was constantly saying.
I loved that I could feel every kind of connection between these to through the pages. Their relationship/friendship was absolutely everything.
Side characters can be such a highlight when they’re written well and Piper Rayne definitely pulled out all the stops for the best friends ever. I’m so excited for this new series and seeing all of them again.
