I can’t borrow him. He’s not a sweater or a skirt. He’s not even her favorite dress—the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him.In my defense, I didn’t know who he was. To me, he was a cool, calm, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape. To an … landscape.
To an outsider, we probably appeared more friends than hopeful lovers. But my blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. We definitely shared a spark of what could be.
Too bad I didn’t know who he was before I fell for him, because he can’t be mine.

My Bestie’s Ex (The Rooftop Crew) by Piper Rayne is a cute story of Blanca. She has decided to make a career change. When she sees her childhood bestfriend, she is offered a place to stay and a new life change. Coming back from her parent’s house on the train she meets Ethan. She has an instant connection. When she starts her new job her cubicle is right next to Ethan’s. They have a connection that has them smitten with each other. Eventually they do take their relationship to the next level. One day as they were walking they run into Blanca’s neighbors. This is were things get exciting. The neighbors know Ethan. The reason they know him is he is not only friends with them but he is Bianca’s bestfriend ex. An ex her bestfriend hates and evidently still has feelings for. I enjoyed this story. The characters were interesting and the time it to took for everyone to realize what was happening was comical. Along with their families brought a different element to the story. I did wanted more from Blanc and Ethan’s story. I was drawn into Blanca and Ethan’s journey to love. Good story. 4 stars for me.
“But at that point in life, watching my brothers’ fairy tales grow sweeter while I had no one and nothing, a fresh start sounded perfect. A change of scenery a place to reinvent myself.” And so perfectly Blanca Mancini’s story begins! You just want her to flourish, succeed and find love because everyone in her world has done so.
So it begins on a train. A girl on a train meets a boy running towards the train and magical unicorn shenanigans commence.
Piper Rayne strikes again with the beginning of this new series! I sense a subtle nuance to Blanca and Ethan. There is a push and pull between them that draws you in. As the reader you know something they don’t and you are waiting for this bomb to drop while at the same time wishing that it doesn’t because a more perfect pair there is not….Blanca and Ethan are meant to be. You see them fight their attraction and yet gravitate towards each other and you want to jump on that ride with them until the end.
I have to say that I am so pleasantly surprised with Blanca Mancini and her ability to be a woman true to her word. She knows her value and is not willing to compromise herself for anyone, even the man she may love. Ethan is cool, calm, collected and yet not at the same time. He has so many factors that play into his ability to be in a relationship and watching them be stripped away by his overwhelming need to have Blanca is a thing of beauty!
This Rooftop Crew is my new favorite obsession. After Ethan and Blanca…I want all the details on everyone and where their stories will go! Another hit for Piper Rayne in my book!!!
This story was good and had a twist but I could have seen it a mile away. I wanted to feel the attraction between these two but it took so long for that part to get heated up I wondered when it was finally coming. I would have loved it if it was more steamy but I will definitely read others in this series as it has some other characters I’d love to know more about.
You know you are onto a winner when the banter and friendships in this story just hook you from the very beginning!
I loved reading about Blanca Mancini! Quite frankly I just want be her friend!Yeah yeah fictional story blah blah!
But in all seriousness this book had my heart thomping for a beautiful HEA! I just loved everything about this kind of story! It just goes to show you can’t help who you are attracted to!
The male character is rather charming in a kind of nerdy way but hes also rather witty too and obviously cares deeply for those that can get close to him!I felt like these two were a match made in heaven but what happens when friends find out, will their friendship stand the test or are things destined to fail??
So flipping amazing and honestly a fantastic start to a new series! Literally so excited for more!!!!
5 Star Review My Bestie’s Ex (The Rooftop Crew#1) by Piper Rayne
Book one in an exciting new series from Piper Rayne and if My Bestie’s Ex is anything to go by this will be another fabulous series.
Whenever I see the name Piper Rayne, I know I am in for an entertaining read and My Bestie’s Ex was no exception. From the first to the last chapter, I was riveted to the roller coaster story that the authors wove.
I loved the character of Blanca Mancini from the first time she was mentioned in the White Collar Brothers series and I have been waiting patiently for her to get her own story.
Blanca needs a complete change and when fate re connects her with her childhood best friend, she decides to take a chance and move to a small town; a new start that’s what she believes she needs.
When she meets Ethan on a train, the chemistry sizzles and the sparks fly between them. When they meet again as co workers, the attraction is just as intense as when they first met.
As the story unfolds, complications will arise. What happens when the one you fall for, is the one you cannot have? The path to true love does not run smoothly and for Blanca and Ethan it may be unreachable.
I really loved Blanca and Ethan. Blanca is such a strong, sassy, feisty woman and Ethan was swoon worthy. The banter between them had me laughing out loud at time. The characters were entertaining and you cannot help but become invested in Blanca and Ethan’s story.
The secondary characters were just as much fun and I cannot wait to see what Piper Rayne has in store for The Rooftop Crew.
I am always excited to see a new series by this phenomenal writing duo and this first book in a new series is amazing!
This is the introduction to the crew and also a fresh story about chance meetings, finding your soul mate and the code between girlfriends.
This story isn’t just about Blanca and Ethan, it’s about so much more! There are twists and turns that are going to leave you crying and hoping and rooting for understanding and love!
Now this new series can be read as a stand-alone. But I have been stalking this writing duo since the beginning and I was so excited to see Blanca getting her own story! She is fierce and unapologetic. She is honest to a fault and loyal to those she loves. Being the youngest sister of the Mancini crew has made her the woman she is today.
Ethan, oh you wily devil. He tries so hard to keep his world in separate boxes. It was fun and moving to read how Blanca came into his world and blurred the lines and made him want more.
I loved the friendships and comradery of this whole crew of characters. I loved the nod to the previous series in the Piper Rayne world.
I cannot wait for the rest of this series! I hope for redemption for a couple of characters and see how the dynamics change for this crew of friends!
I can’t get enough of Piper Rayne and this new series started off with a bang! Blanca Mancini, who was previous introduced in the White Collar Series (which involved her 3 charming older brothers), is getting the story she deserves with a few surprise appearances from her protective older brothers.
Blanca left her secure job in pursuit of her own happiness when she runs into her former childhood best friends who offers her a fresh start in a new town outside of the city. I loved Blanca from the moment she was introduced and loved her even more the more we got to know about her throughout this story. Ethan hasn’t had an easy year, between break up and dealing with some family things and working a job he just isn’t happy with, but it pays the bills.
From the moment Blanca and Ethan met there was a connection, chemistry. They were both drawn to each other, despite being complete strangers. I loved the easy going feeling of their relationship and their banter was hilarious. They played so well off each other. Now, the Rooftop Crew themselves, I LOVE them all. They are all different, but have formed their own mini family together and all bring something different to the crew. I can’t wait to see what is in store for all of them!
My Bestie’s Ex is a MUST READ and another hit from Piper Rayne!
Piper Rayne does it again! I do not how she makes each couple so refreshing and new. Each couples love story just comes through brilliantly.
Ethan & Blanca…*le sign* Their witty banter made me laugh out loud. The chemistry between them jumps off the pages from their first meeting. Ethan and Blanca grow as their story unfolds and it is perfection!
I loved every minute of this book. The characters were dynamic, the storyline weaves around you and doesn’t let you go, and you will absolutely fall in love with The Rooftop Crew! I can’t wait for the new characters stories.
The Rooftop Crew’s personalities really shine through. They pulled me in and didn’t let go. I loved seeing the Mancini brothers and they do not disappoint!
This is a complex complication in any relationship especially with Girl Code, but Piper Rayne handles it with love, friendship, and an insight that shows what is on the surface isn’t really the driving force in people’s reactions.
I read this in one sitting and I REGRET nothing except that I do not have any Piper Rayne to read at this moment. I highly recommend this book – come fall in love with The Rooftop Crew – you can thank me later!
I have been looking forward to Blanca’s story since meeting her in the White Collar Brothers series and let me just say that Piper Rayne has given us one incredible story I couldn’t put down! I absolutely fell head over heels in love with this new series and can’t wait for more of the Rooftop Crew and their HEA’s. Blanca is the baby Mancini sibling, looking to find where she fits in and after running into an old friend it all begins to fall into place…… new apartment, new job and a new group of friends. Ethan has a chance encounter with a gorgeous stranger that intrigues him, challenges him and makes him want things he shouldn’t want. What happens when the one person you want is the one person whose off limits? One-click your copy today and discover the amazing dynamics of this crazy group of friends!
I really enjoyed this contemporary romance from Piper Rayne. This writing duo creates great series, and My Bestie’s Ex is a great kickoff to The Rooftop Crew series.
Blanca and Ethan meet by chance on the train, as Blanca is looking bounce back and take control of her life again. They have an instant connection, and when they become partners at work as journalists, with a “he said/she said” type of column, their relationship really flourishes. But little does Blanca know that Ethan is her roomie/former best friend’s ex boyfriend. Their connection, though, is so strong that it can’t be denied, and although her roomie has some ill-will towards Ethan, it really was not a case of love lost because he was clearly made for Blanca!
The audio of this book, narrated by Tim Paige and Penelope Rose, was really good. It made the emotion and the push/pull of their relationship come to life, and it really helped the reader see a side of Ethan that made you really feel his genuine connection to Blanca.
Blanca decides to leave a job she hates to follow her passion of writing. When she gets reacquainted with an old friend she decides to take a big leap and moves away to live with Sierra. On the train ride, Blanca meets Ethan and the two of them have a strong connection, they have fun banter and they can relate to each other but are also slightly different. Blanca starts her new job and discovers that is also where Ethan works. Unfortunately for them both, he has a personal rule not to date a coworker. There is much push and pull between the two of them, they both have strong feelings for each other, they open up to each other but then Ethan shuts down because she is his coworker. Much of the book is about them being coworkers being the roadblock to their relationship. Of course when they finally figure it out and decide to be all in, they discover that Ethan is Sierra’s ex. I did like that they didn’t know about Sierra being the ex until much later. Ethan and Sierra really were a perfectly matched couple and you could feel the love between them and not just the sexual kind of love
Super fun read!
In all honesty, this was probably more of a 3.5-star read, but The Rooftop Crew is just so much fun that I had to bump it to 4-stars. This is a group of characters who I’m going to enjoy getting to know.
Ethan and Blanca meet one Sunday night on the late train that runs from NYC to Clifton Heights. They both have a tradition of spending the afternoon with their families. Blanca is new to Clifton Heights, she just started a new job, ran into her childhood bestie, and moved in with her. Meeting Ethan pretty much makes her move perfect. Then they find out they work together. Not only work together but are competing authors for the same paper. Ethan is adamant that because they are co-workers they cannot date. By the time Blanca changes his mind, they are about to discover an even bigger obstacle.
There’s drama but it’s not over the top and the Rooftop Crew all has an opinion they are not afraid to share. Add in Blanca’s brothers and this was a good start to a promising series.
Really enjoyed this one!
Cute story. Instant attraction. By the end everyone is happy.
Blanca met her best friend’s ex but did not know who he was. He was a cool, clam, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape. To an outsider, they probably appeared more friends that hopeful loves. Her blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. They definitely shared a spark of what could be. Too bad Blanca did not know who he was before she fell for him because he cannot be mind. – I liked Blanca and the best friend’s ex. He was mature, caring< and helpful to his mom. Blanca was kind and smart. I felt sorry for her best friend but felt she was a little selfish This is a good read..
Blanca has just quit her Teller job go pursue a different career in journalism when she meets Ethan. They have an instant pull to each other, and that doesn’t stop even when they realize they are working together now. Ethan has a rule of no dating coworkers, but will he break that rule so pursue the undeniable connection they share?
I loved everything about this story. It had all the markers of a classic romance, without being full of clichés. It was also refreshing to see the girl pursuing the guy for once. My only qualm with the story was how many times Blanca referenced having brothers. I know this was supposed to add to who she is, but there were so many mentions of her brothers. But this is definitely worth a read!
I totally enjoyed this story. Very good pacing. No dragging. Some hot sex, but not too much or repetitive. Excellent issues dealt with, some left hanging but going in a better direction. Interested in seeing the other people’s roads to happy ever after.
Enjoyed this story!
I loved the way it was written. It kept my interest throughout the entire book. Each character had their own cross to bear which kept me turning the pages.
