Thank you Netgalley and HarperCoins Publishers for the ARC of My Best Friends Royal Wedding by Romy Sommers
The Prince and Me meets Pretty Woman in Romy Sommers new book My Best Friends Royal Wedding. I really am a sucker for books about royals falling in love.
Khara is a very head strong independent woman. She had to be she didn’t grow up with a father (she had a step father but I’ll get to that). Her mom was a job hopper and same goes for men. She thought there was always something better for her out there. Khara has to work, at a casino in Vegas as a waitress, to pay for her college tuition. One night she meets Adam at her place of work. Where she comes to think not all men are they same. She just didn’t give it enough time because he proved that Theory wrong.
Adam is well how to say it a man whore. A one trick pony a Wham Bam thank you ma’am kind of guy who doesn’t wait around for the morning sun. When his cousin Nick dies he’s given the opportunity to take the crown but he’s really got commitment issues until one year later he meets Khara again. Here it is his second chance. So in the words of RuPaul don’t **** it up.
There was something I really didn’t understand. In the beginning where we learn about Khara’s mother. She’s a woman that never settles, Khara drops a bomb shell on us that she has a stepfather. Ugh……where did he come from, but it does on to tell us who and what his part is. I would like to have seen more of her stepfather mentioned. He did stay around to “care” for Khara so why didn’t he play more of a fatherly part in the book. Like he calls her, she lets out her fillings to him, he gives her fatherly advice. I mean he was portrayed as a father figure that cared but yet he was very absent in the book.

Just a fun frothy uplifting read during these dark times. It made me happy and transported me out of this current reality for a few hours.
I was really hoping to like this book more than I did. It was a cute light hearted read. My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding was fun quick read.
2.5 stars
I was hoping for a cute royal romance when I picked My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding but it wasn’t what I expected and I was disappointed.
Khara was a waitress in Vegas, she was working hard to pay for her tuition and she was invited by her best friend, Phoenix, to be her maid of honor because Phoenix was marrying a prince.
Adam was a selfish douche, he was a rich guy that for the first time in his life was facing a hard choice in the midst of his best friend’s wedding, Max, that invited him to be his best man.
Honestly, I disliked Khara and Adam for the first half of the book or maybe even longer, I definitely didn’t warm up to Khara. She was so annoying, she kept judging everyone mainly because they were rich even before she set foot in the events or talked to people. I kind of get that she was used to see a lot of self entitled-grabby-drunk-rich guys going crazy in Vegas but she kept being judgy and whiny for most of the story, I can’t even recognize any self growth through the whole book, unless I count the fact she did give in to one of these guys she kept judging, Adam of course, but if that was supposed to be her growth… I don’t think it makes any sense so I’m not counting that. Adam was a selfish douche through most of the story but he was actually owning his flaws, he was perfectly aware of his way of life, he was mainly bored with it but he wasn’t interested in changing anything in his life. I didn’t really like him for most of the book but I actually liked his inner conflict about a choice he needed to make and I think that was the main reason I ended up enjoying the book. Adam had a lot of self growth during the story, even though it does take a while until we actually see it, I still enjoyed it. As a result of not liking the characters for most of the story, I didn’t care much for their chemistry and romance.
Overall, I enjoyed the setting, the pacing and how Adam’s character growth was done, so it ended up being an okay read.
Highly recommend this book. Loved it!
A fun and entertaining fairy tale romance featuring a reluctant prince (Adam) and a sassy Las Vegas cocktail and waitress (Khara). A bit predictable but overall I’d give My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding 4 stars
Perfect rom-con movie!
Las Vegas waitress Khara Thomas is going to Europe to be the maid of honor at her best friend’s official wedding because his family doesn’t know they were already married in Las Vegas. Khara is paired with best man Adam Hatton who doesn’t realize that Khara has already met in him Vegas and thought he was a jerk but Adam helps Khara with everything so she doesn’t embarrass herself in front of everyone.
My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding is the follow on for Waking up in Vegas but is a stand-alone read. All the books in The Princes of Westerwald series are fun to read about the brothers and now the author adds a story about Adam finally falling in love for the first time while he is making a decision about his future.
My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding would make a perfect rom-con movie!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding is every princess wannabe’s dream come true but not Khara’s. No, this Royal engagement is way out of her comfort zone. Also out of her zone, the sly and closeted sleazy best man. Okay so he isn’t sleazy to most of the word, they consider him a catch but Khara knows better. One meeting and his fate is sealed. Too bad for Khara it wasn’t their only meeting. Learning the playboy has a heart is her kryptonite.
Once the secret of his actually having a heart is out, Khara has to wrangle hers in. Too bad she never had a chance!
I enjoyed the premise but I felt it lost some of its charm. Khara and Adam feel too two dimensional. While I enjoy Khara’s stubborn drive and her need to not fall into her mother’s shoes, that is all we really get from her. Adam is a playboy with not many redeeming qualities the entire book. His only goal is to get Khara in bed. His outlook changes eventually but I just feel like HE hasn’t changed. I probably just jaded I don’t have a prince chasing me!
Enjoy the fairytale. Cinderella, I mean Khara, gets everything she never knew she wanted.
Talk about boring. The cover sucked me in along with the blurb. A RomCom about a royal wedding featuring a soon-to-be prince and a waitress. What could be terrible about that??
Narrator: Everything is terrible.
Firstly the characters. Both Khara and Adam are not interesting or nice people. At least Adam owns up to his snobby manwhore ways, but Khara is just a Judgy McJudgerson. The chip on her shoulder is HUGE. Girl, you got an all-expenses paid trip to Europe to be the ONLY bridesmaid in a royal wedding: live it up and have some fun. WHY SO SERIOUS?
Secondly, the lack of chemistry. I never understood why Adam or Khara liked/loved each other, or lusted to be honest. It all felt flat.
Thirdly, the formatting made it hard to focus. Now this could be an ARC edition issue, but regardless it affected the joy of reading.
I didn’t intend this to be a middle school essay, but here we are. In conclusion, while the setting and history included was interesting, not much else was. Sorely disappointed and feel like I need to watch a good RomCom to cleanse my soul.
Fans of The Royal We and Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating, meet your next great Rom-Com in My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding!!
We first meet Kahra in Las Vegas, as she is working her job at a casino as a server. We get a little back story, and then flash forward a year and we find Kahra traveling overseas to be her best friend’s bridesmaid. Enter best man Adam… the will they won’t they banter back and forth is entertaining, and we see a true transformation during the month they are together – of both characters.
Romy Sommer’s writing is fresh, fun, sexy (not too crazy), and addictive. I breezed though this book in a day or two! I would love to see more of Kahra and Adam!!!
Thank you Net Galley and Harper Impuse and Killer Reads for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
This story is sweet and funny and everything you expect from a rags to riches royal story. Khara, agirl from the trailer park in Las Vegas meets Adam, the entitled potential heir to a small country. She is strong, independent and feisty. He is wealthy, bored and used to getting his way. She is a surprise to him because she doesn’t fall all over his feet. While this might sound cliche, My Best Friend’s Royal wedding was heartfelt and addicting from start to finish. My one complaint was that this seems to follow a trilogy by Romy Sommer about the romance of the friend Phoenix & Max who are getting married. This wasn’t stated in the description or in the goodreads (including it as part of the collection). I looked it up after multiple references to the long story about the couple’s courtship. This book is a complete stand alone, and the previous series was not required reading to enjoy this story.
I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily give my review
