My Best Friend’s Ex is a small town, roommates to lovers romance that can be read as a standalone romantic comedy. See why readers are falling in love with these blue collar heroes. When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson. Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the … itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn’t be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he’s still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I’m trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.
Boy, was I wrong.
Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man.
Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs.
But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.
Tucker might be my friend and roommate but he’s also my best friend’s ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that’s what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.
*** This is a full length novel , 100,000 words, with a happily ever after, no cliffhanger, no cheating, and full of heart, humor and, steamy heat. ***

I loved this book! It had everything! Emotional kicks to your heart, frustration with the characters, pity, lust, whispers of encouragement. It was everything you could experience with a single person in a lifetime. No one is always happy, we all stumble, and sometimes the bad, no matter what it is, leads to something great. Sometimes you need to grow, heal, accept, and move on. I loved Emma and her kind giving heart and Tucker and his broken heart in need of healing. They really combine to make one another better and stronger. Their love story was not all easy and sweet, sometimes it was hard and seemed impossible. I liked the realism. And of course the super happy ending.
I loved this book. All the things I love about Meghan Quinn’s book all wrapped in this amazing and funny read. Emma and Tucker melted my heart. They got along so great together that I loved their carefree banter and sexual tension. I was so giddy while reading this one while laughing hysterically.
Emma was super funny and really understood Tucker. She didn’t really push for him to share things he wasn’t ready to. She breathed life back into him and turned his house into a home. She was a wonderful character and absolutely adored her. Tucker is my new book boyfriend. I liked how he bought new things for his house and turned them into something sweet to surprise Emma with. He was so sweet and caring towards her. Gosh it just gave me all the feels.
Loved My Best Friend’s Ex so much. Probably one of my favorite books by Meghan Quinn to date.
A Master Class on Sexy Slow Build and Dirty Talk
Absolutely enjoyed the first book in the series, but I lovelovelove this second one. I did not expect Tucker and Emma to be so combustible, but damn!
Have I mentioned how much I dislike slow burn? It feels like a waste of time to me. IMO, the pretty fictional people should bang, ASAP. This story, on the other hand, is the exception. Even waiting until two-thirds through for them to really get down to it, I never wanted to rush a moment. Through masterful character building and delicious word craft, Tucker and Emma have a true slow burn – rather than a frustrating push and pull – that crescendoes steadily until they, um, reach full volume. And the emotional build is even better than the physical one.
*5 Stars*
I was very curious about Tucker after reading the first book in this series, so needless to say I was keen to dive into this one and see how he would actually move on from Sadie and their past.
I LOVED this book so much! It was a very easy and fast read, and I loved getting to not only Tucker, but Emma as well. They’re both really great personalities, and really mesh together well. They’re very real, and bring out the best in each other. Emma really helps Tucker move on, and he gets to learn about the fun and sassy side of her that he’d never seen before.
Racer and Smalls were also great secondary characters. (I’m keen to get to Racer’s book one day too).
I devoured this story so fast, and it has to be one of my very favourite Meghan Quinns books (so far, I have many to catch up on). These guys were perfect and I loved every minute of this book.
Can’t wait to read more!
This book made me feeling all the feels literally! I was laughing so hard I near peed my pants. I was getting so hot and bothered waiting for Tucker and Emma to finally kiss or do ANYTHING!!! the kitchen counter scenes, the near misses, the close encounters…my goodness Meghan Quinn Well freaking done!!!! I wanted to sit on ice while simultaneously throwing the kindle out the window and STILL I did not because I could not NOT finish the book in one sitting. I haven’t had this much of an emotional reaction to a book in a while. sure Ive cried at some, laughed at others and burned my fingers with the hot scenes in print with others, but never all together like this… Meghan you are a QUEEN!!! keep them coming!
Loved it from start to finish … The author gives you lovably flawed and believable characters in realistic situations. The reader is left rooting for the main characters to hurry on up and see what the reader is seeing … that they belong together! I loved this book and I highly, highly recommend.
I don’t know why I was so frickin’ hesitant to start this one because it was a FANTASTIC book!
I loved Tucker. I loved Emma. And I ADORED them together. The chemistry they shared was off-the-charts HOT. Every touch, every barb, every note, every text… GAH! They were perfectly matched, just like peanut butter & chocolate.
Tucker… I felt bad for what happened to him in the last book (Co-Wrecker) but am thrilled that it led him to Emma. He was an utter heartthrob. Sweet, devoted, thoughtful, sexy… *le sigh* Sure, I wanted to slap him for not opening up to Emma sooner & for leaving for such a long period of time (I don’t care if it was a job requirement) but it was crazy-cute how he made it up to her. I mean, like bananas adorable. (Thank you for helping him carry out his plans, Racer!)
Emma… This girl was everything. Endearing, spunky, intelligent, forgiving, playful… She was such a unique & refreshing character to read about. Loved the effect she had on Tucker & how she helped him open up & learn to let go of the past. And that lobster mitt scene… *giggles*
The side characters were great too! Can’t wait to get more of Racer, Smalls, Adalyn & Logan in the future!!
Looking forward to the next book in the series, Twisted Twosome. Bring on Racer & his Little Debbie obsession! 🙂
Tucker. Tucker. Tucker.
Loved this book.
You’ve met the main leads Tucker and Emma previously, in the book Co-Wrecker.
If I’m being honest, 1st half of cowrecker i thought tucker was a psycho stalker who may or may not be abusive.
Butttttt by the end of the book I realized I was wrong and was hoping for his book.
This book reconnects Tucker with Emma (one of Sadie’s two best friends). Tucker’s growth and attention to Emma was so awesome. The sub characters (racer in particular, loved him, was awesome.
I loved it. Genius writing. Awesome plot. Hot hot hot but very, very sweet!
I highly recommend
Meghan Quinn
Loved this series! Lots of lol moments!
My Best Friend’s Ex was AMAZING and I absolutely LOVED Tucker and Emma’s story! This was my first novel by Meghan Quinn and it will certainly not be the last. Her writing style was excellent and she had me addicted to Tucker and Emma’s story from page one. I also loved her abundance of humor and laughed out loud numerous times while reading this book. Meghan had the perfect balance of romance, humor, and drama, and I cannot wait to read more of her books.
Tucker and Emma had wonderful personalities and I immediately fell in love with them and their story. I loved the close bond and connection they had with each other, and I really enjoyed how their relationship progressed throughout. Their friendship and romantic relationship was easy, effortless, and completely natural, and I was definitely rooting for them to work out as a couple from the very beginning. Tucker and Emma were extremely lovable and relatable characters, and I loved all of their banter and interactions with each other. Every single page of Tucker and Emma’s story was highly entertaining, and I loved reading it from both of their POV. I truly felt a deep connection with both characters and couldn’t wait to read more. Tucker was beyond sweet, sexy, and swoon-worthy, and I loved how well he treated Emma. He is definitely my new favorite fictional man crush. Emma was super sweet, kind, and compassionate, and I couldn’t help but fall in love with her as well. Tucker and Emma certainly had their up and down moments, but I loved every second of their journey.
The secondary characters were wonderful as well, and I really enjoyed Tucker and Emma’s friends. I loved the camaraderie between all of them and I really hope that Meghan writes stories about each of the side characters because I would definitely read them.
I absolutely loved everything about My Best Friend’s Ex and couldn’t have been more thrilled with the conclusion to Tucker and Emma’s story. Meghan Quinn did a phenomenal job with this book from beginning to end, and I cannot wait to return to it over and over again for a very long time to come. Meghan Quinn is definitely a new favorite author for me and My Best Friend’s Ex is a top 2017 favorite. If you haven’t one-clicked Tucker and Emma’s story yet, you need to do so ASAP!
This is one of my favorite stories by Meghan Quinn. This story is about a broken man, Tucker, who experienced a rough upbringing and a previous painful relationship. His long-time friend Emma gets evicted from her home and needs a place to live and Tucker offers her a place to stay.
This book gave me the most incredible feels. Tucker finds his way through his past experiences to develop a relationship with Emma. Amazing. Just Amazing. **sigh**
***5 ‘The kiss, the kiss is everything’ Stars***
I was hooked, and laughing, from the very first sentence and when I finally figured out just who Tucker Jameson was ~ Yeah, I was a tad bit slow on the uptake ~ I was a goner and I didn’t want this book to end. Watching as Emma and Tucker reconnected and became so much brought out all the feels. I swooned, laughed out loud, had moments where I felt the need to reach out and smack some sense in people and got all teary eyed and sniffly and it was all I could have asked for and more.
I must admit that I had mixed feelings about Tucker after the first go around with him. I understood where he was coming from and why he was so determined to get the girl, even when she didn’t want him anymore. So once I got clued in to just how I knew him, I wanted to see who he really was and boy did he knock my socks off. Outside of his unwillingness to move on from his ex, the man is all kinds of book boyfriend material. He’s sweet, smexy, flirty, compassionate and has a generous heart.
Emma, I adored. I do remember meeting her, but considering all that was going on, she was easy to push to the side. But having her front and center was so much fun. She is a nurturer and for all intents and purposes a good girl, but underneath all that she has a wicked streak ~ that comes out to play in more ways than one ~ that reminds you to never judge a book by it’s cover.
Tucker and Emma’s mixed package journey to their HEA was so much fun. What I enjoyed the most was how they recognized that they had both changed, that the person they knew was more and wanted to get to know this new version of the other and through the process found that they had a deeper connection than just that of their shared pasts. Their bantering was fun and holy sexual tension that when it finally exploded was soooo worth it! When the big, old wrench in their road happened I wasn’t surprised by it, considering it was hanging over their heads the entire time, but I LOVED how they came back together. I was all kinds of teary and sniffly and the ending was perfect for them.
This was a fun read. It wasn’t as over the top funny as some of Ms. Quinn’s other RomCom’s but the funny was still there along with all kinds of heart. As I’m sure you noticed Tucker and Emma are both introduced in another book, Co-Wrecker, and though I do feel that you should read that book because it was just that good, I don’t feel that you absolutely need to before you dive into My Best Friend’s Ex, though you will want to after you’ve finished the book. Ms. Quinn does a great job at explaining what happened in the past, so those who haven’t read Co-Wrecker will get a solid understanding of the issues, and yet doesn’t over do it, so for those that have read it won’t feel like they are getting a full blown retelling. It’s up to you, but regardless pick it up and read it. As for the supporting cast of characters ~ I adored them all and hope that they get their own books one day, and if they do I hope that I’ll figure it out BEFORE I start the book.

So many laughs in this book. The inner snarks and sarcasm had me dying. Sweet Tucker and Emma , oh how I love you. So many things I could have highlighted but I would be quoting most of the book. I loved this book. Hell, I love this author. I eagerly await anything she writes. Please keep your muse in line and listening to those voices because my heart would die a slow death if you quit writing.
Just a couple of my favorite inner monologues from the book:
“Not lucky at all, because he’s my friend, and he once belonged to my best friend, but all I want to do is rip his pants off, tap his penis and say, ‘I have a friend I want you to meet. It’s my vagina; want to have a play date?”
“Sweet mother, may I? Just a little touch, a lick of his nipple, maybe a little bob for apples on his penis.”
“I’m not joking when I say my vagina starts to cry, my sensitive nipples as well, pretty much my entire body is weeping for the loss of hope, for the loss of what could have been one epic climax on the kitchen counter.”
Meghan has seriously out done herself with this one. She had me on edge while reading the book trying to make sense of the title and then BOOM! there is was. I went from laughing to my heart hurting through out the story.
5 “Yours forever” stars
Holy bajeebus, I love this book! I can’t get over Tucker. Seriously, I didn’t give him enough credit in Co Wrecker. I thought he was just alright, nothing really special. G dang was I wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong! He’s everything!! That man nailed being thoughtful and caring. Nailed it hard. Emma is one lucky gal!
“She’s the best thing in my life. My everything.”
This whole book had everything that I love. Great story, a lot of funny parts, phenomenal characters, fantastic secondary characters, awesome banter between not only Tucker and Emma, but mostly between Tucker and his friend Racer. Gah! I just love all the things in this book! I think this book is tied as one of my favorites along side Stroked Long. One more time…I loved this book!
Loved this—> “She loves me. Emma. Marks. Loves. Me. I’m where I belong, in her arms, in the only place that’s only felt like home to me.” Heart eyes!
OMG Meghan Quinn is the master of making you piss your pants because you’re laughing so hard!
Be prepared to break the number one rule of Girl Code. And I mean slap that rule in the face and maybe smear it in some butter, because Emma and Tucker are meant for each other…screw Sadie. (Although she was actually pretty cool, I promise.)
Emma is quirky. And I mean all-out-foot-in-mouth-just-go-for-it-I-wish-I-had-her-confidence QUIRKY! Tucker is not your typical man-whore, playboy who doesn’t want to settle down hot guy. He’s actually the complete opposite, except for the hot guy part. I think I have a new book boyfriend crush. Swoon!
This book was emotional, sexy, hysterical, and an all around slam dunk! Give it up for DJ Hot Cock and DJ Jazzy Nurse Tits because there’s only One Direction this book leads and that’s straight to your heart.
On an unrelated note, I actually got to meet Meghan Quinn at Indies Invade Philly in 2017 and had her sign this book before I ever read it. BTW I still want the story on what happens when the butter DOES leave the kitchen! 😉 <3
Oh how I adored this book! After reading Co-Wrecker and seeing that Tucker has his own story I knew that I had to ready it.
Tucker was still mourning the loss of his girlfriend, who he thought was the love of his life, and their unborn child. Emma was the girl that always took care of everyone. This is a friends to lovers story that has way more than your typical FTL. They had know each other since childhood. But he was her best friend’s ex boyfriend. That puts a whole new twist on it. They start to get together because she needs a place to live, and he has that house all to himself. So the flirting and hilarity begins….
It was a wonderful story. I found myself crying right along with Emma on a few occasions. And Racer was just hilarious! I cant wait to go read his story!
I enjoyed this story as an audiobook and I loved it! Had me laughing at loud. Cute funny Rom-Com. Definitely will read more of her books!!! Enjoy!
If you don’t know, I adore Meghan Quinn and I stalk her. She’s aware and tolerates me up to a certain point. I’m pretty sure I might get a bit creepy sometimes but I’ll own it. So naturally, I will read anything she puts out. I don’t even need a title, blurb, or anything. She could send me a file that has a some weird ass emoji on it and I wouldn’t hesitate to go for it.
I love her sense of humor but I also respect the fact that she can do a bit of the heaver stuff just as well. Kace from Repentance is my absolute favorite character from Meghan and up until now, no one even game close to him. Until FUCKING TUCKER. How the hell he snuck up on me the way he did, I have no idea but he did some weird voodoo shit and and made me lovestruck from the start. I will get on my Tucker rant shortly.
I’m not going to recap any of the story. I know some people like to have an idea of things but I think the blurb will tell you enough. Go into this blind. Seriously. You will want and love the slow burn that you get between Emma and Tucker. Their sexual tension had me all riled up and I couldn’t get enough.
My Best Friend’s Ex is hilarious, witty, sassy and fun. It also has a bit of angst that tightly binds everything into one amazing package. The banter back and forth between Emma and Tucker, Emma and her friends and Tucker and Racer is so fun and they had me rolling most of the time. And let’s face it, we all know that we want Racer to get his own story. I mean, come on…..dying here!
I really enjoyed Emma. We get to see a total different side of her with Tucker and her college friends. She’s smart, sassy and sometimes a bit raunchy and I loved that about her. The things that fly out of her mouth when she’s angry is just absolutely hilarious. Tampons. Enough said. I think she is perfect for Tucker and I really felt her connection towards him and how she moved into falling for him.
And then there’s Tucker. Fucking Tucker. That’s what I keep calling him. The man stole my heart. His past has made him alone and hurting and he has the oh so sexy brooding feeling to him. Until Emma comes along and slowly turns him into the man that we all fall for. The things he did seriously had me melting. On one hand he can me demanding but let’s be honest. He’s that way in the best possible place he can be. He has always been a nice guy but the things he does for Emma had me melting and my thighs clenching. I dare even say that he brought tears to my eyes with some of his gestures. The last part of the book had me clutching my heart and swooning for Tucker like I could never imagine.
“I’m drowning in desperation for you.”
While there are so many hilarious parts to this book, I really like the raw emotions that we got between Emma and Tucker. Real life issues were faced and we had to go through the process with them while they figured things out.
Overall, I cannot express to you how much I love this book. Meghan brought us her normal wit, charm and humor and slapped us with a beautiful story of healing, true love and a burning love for one amazing man. Well done, Meghan. Yet again, you’ve delivered us an amazing story and I can’t wait to see what you have for us next.
I absolutely adored Tucker and Emma!! They were so cute together, and I loved the development of being friends into more. Emma and Tucker had an easy chemistry between them, one that he never had with Sadie. All the fun, playful banter between them kept a huge smile on my face throughout the book. They were absolutely perfect for one another.
“My love, my soul, my home.”
