Vivian Mercy has been running from the past for so long she doesn’t know any other way of life. When a panicked call comes from one of her only friends she finds herself returning to the city of her nightmares where her dedication as a doctor and resolve to help others is put to the test.Etain Vi’Aerlin has been watching over Noctem Falls for centuries. Sent by his queen he became a silent … silent sentinel in the shadows helping Magnus whenever he could. While the sickness around him claims more lives he discovers what it feels like to be helpless, as an ancient warrior he doesn’t have the skills to fight this unseen enemy.
At any other time finding a mate would be cause for celebration, but Etain wants Vivian as far from Noctem Falls as possible, unfortunately, as the only doctor with an intimate knowledge of diseases she has to stay in the city, and finds herself working tirelessly to discover a cure in the middle of the deadly chaos sweeping the levels.
As Vivian’s past is revealed she finds herself not only combating the terrible virus but also the rebellious faction of the Founding Families. Etain vows to stand by her, even if it means abandoning the post assigned by his queen.
It’s a race against time to unravel the lethal secrets the virus is hiding before the city itself is lost forever.

I would follow Meryn’s religion. Only Meryn would be able to get the prince of the vampires to take a day off. A good cinnamon roll is worthy of such reactions. God, stupid douchebags. I’m glad that Meryn has such a large support group, and that it includes so many high profile people. Sometimes the best thing for people like them is a sense of humor like hers. Ah, the Princess Bride. Meryn’s acting like a robot, I don’t like it, fix her. Yes! Now no one will ever be able to say that Gavriel isn’t an Ambrosias. Of course Meryn would show Felix YouTube videos on sword fighting. An interesting experience reading about basically a mansion getting gutted. Poor Magnus. Thank god they saved both Vivi and the baby.
The answer to a problem
I love the way this author portrays the fae. Tall, elegantly graceful with a golden glow to surround their gorgeous visage. The ongoing story line just keeps getting interesting. This series is one that I can not imagine ending. Luckily we have two more pillar cities to visit and Keelan to rescue, oh and I feel like Sascha is really meant for Penny. I can’t wait to read the next book to see what happens next.
While I’ve enjoyed the previous few novels that took place in Noctem Falls, I felt like the story really picked up in Vivian and Etain’s tale. Between the political tensions on each level, the virus beginning to plague vampires alongside the shifters, and the multiple family mysteries that came to light, it was an action-packed book that was hard to put down.
And of course, there was Meryn. I honestly believe that if you don’t love, and empathize, with all that Meryn is, you probably can’t connect with these books in the same way as so many do.
“You are not normal, Meryn, that is what makes you so unique and special. When people conform, they make themselves fit a cookie cutter mold, and when that happens, they become interchangeable and replaceable.” […] “Basically I’m a Fruit Loop in a bowl full of Cheerios.”
My love for this series is no secret. The author has a clear overall goal in mind for the story, and each book brings us closer there. Definitely enjoying the ride.
Vivian Mercy is asked to help cure a virus that is spreading through Noctem Falls. Etian Vi’Aerlin knows his mate is about to arrive and he can’t wait to be with her but he also wants her to be safe and with the way things had unfolded lately he is not sure that will be the case. There is more to Vivian than meets the eye though, a woman who has a squire and a women who is breaking through with a possible solution to the virus has Noctem Falls embroiled in another adventure.
I liked this one, was a bit surprised by Vivian she was not quite what I expected and her back story is fascinating. With each book there is another layer that is added in the story. Of course all the favorites are in the book but Meryn stood out as usual with her wacky ways. I liked Hal a lot, Vivian’s squire he was a hoot.
Loved it
Love this series. Dr Vivian Mercy is a friend of Elle’s and is asked to comes to Noctem Falls to help find a cure for the virus. A vampire raised byher mothers squire a viking bear shifter, named Hal., Vivi has tragic ties to the city, but can’t say no to children in need.
Etain has been dreaming of his mate and her death. He didn’t expect to meet her so soon, or while their is so much uncertainty, with Vampires now being infected. Vivi is their best chance at finding a cure. All he can do is be on guard to protect her.
When Magnus is stricken with the virus, Vivi has to embrace her heritage to protect him.
Loved Etain and Vivi’s story. Can’t wait for Micha’s.
Love this series. so much so ive started to buy the paperbacks.
I love the whole series, Bewitched and Bewildered!!
I am going to keep this short and to the point. I loved this book. I loved our new couple Vivi and Etain. I loved the on going plot. I loved my time with Meryn and her gang but what really made this book for me was Aiden beating the crap outta men that were treating Meryn badly. I loved that sooo much. I hate the cliffhanger going on with Magnus….. I can’t for the next book.

Title: My Angel
Series: Bewitched & Bewildered
Author: Alanea Alder
Designation: Book 9 of Series, Full-Length, **Can Be Read As Standalone, No Cliffhanger #paranormalromance #fantasy #shifters #vampires #fae #witches #sprites #adultcontent
My Rating: Five Delightfully Entertaining Stars*****
**Each book of the Bewitched and Bewildered series features a different couple finding love along with their very own happy ending and can technically be read as a standalone. However, there are recurring characters, an underlying interconnected conflict, and carryover plot threads that play a major part in all the books, therefore to avoid spoilers, I highly recommend reading the books sequentially.
OMG! I loved, loved, loved My Angel! Alder’s books are like crack for paranormal romance junkies like me! I can see it now: Room in a church basement, a circle of chairs, a group of grim faces, and I stand and say, “Hello, my name is Judy and I’m an Alanea Alder paranormal romance addict!” lol… All joking aside, Alder’s books really are addictive. They’re like potato chips; you can’t stop with just one! This is the ninth book of the series and each story gets better and better! I can hardly wait to dive into the tenth! lol… I love unique paranormal romance, addicted to danger, action, adventure & suspense, completely smitten with sexy, alpha heroes, adore sassy, courageous heroines, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than a few mind-bending plot twists along with a generous infusion of laugh-out-loud humor, but when I can get it all in one exceptionally well-crafted and beautifully written book, I’m in absolute heaven! And that’s exactly what Alanea Alder delivered – AGAIN – in My Angel, the ninth full-length paranormal romance in her riveting and highly imaginative Bewitched & Bewildered Series. Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Was it perfect? No, but it was perfect for me. There were a few minor boo-boos missed in the editing process, but nothing that distracted me from the story. Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain explicit language, some violence, and steamy, dreamy sex. Will I read this author again? Absolutely which is probably the best recommendation I can give! As a matter of fact, after completing the first book of this series, I raced back to Amazon and purchased the remaining nine books and signed up for her newsletter, which speaks volumes as to how much I enjoyed this author’s work! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I was glued to my chair, white-knuckling my ereader, my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the pages flew as quickly as the time!
The series took a bit of a turn in Book 6 when Unit Commander Aiden McKenzie and his firecracker mate Meryn left Lycaonia to visit vampire pillar city Noctem Falls, Naturally, they were accompanied by Meryn’s squire Sei Ryuu and, of course, Felix the sprite, along with former Noctem Falls resident Elizabeth Monroe and her mate Gavriel Ambrosios. In Book 8, they’re joined by Colton, Rheia, Kendrick, and Anne. Aiden, Meryn, Ryuu, Felix, Beth, Gavriel, Colton, Rheia, Kendrick, and Anne are all recurring characters readers have gotten to know in the previous books of the series and always add so much to each story. The way I understand it, the first five books were about the unit warriors of pillar city Lycaonia finding their mates, the next five (Books 6 thru 10) are about the unit warriors of Noctem Falls finding theirs, the next five will be in Eire Danu(the Fae pillar city), and the final 5 books will be focused on the unit warriors of Storm Keep(the witch pillar city). There will be a total of 20 books in the series, and as of this date, May 29, 2018, the first ten books have already been published. In Book 6, we’re also introduced to an entirely new cast of intriguing characters, but the primary couple in My Angel is the calm, reserved, and emotionless fae unit warrior Etain Vi’Aerline and intelligent, dedicated, vampire Doctor Vivian ‘Vivi’ Mercy, world-renowned epidemiologist, hematologist, and medical researcher. At first, I didn’t know what to make of Etain with his old world manners and chivalrous formality but after I found out more about him, I became smitten. And Vivi was quite the delightful surprise with her sass, snark, decisiveness, and keen intelligence. She possessed an uncanny ability to immediately read people understand their needs, as well as any given situation, and immediately know the best course of action. She’s also one of only a few people who could hold her own with Meryn, dishing out as well as she took. And her bear-shifter squire Hal Bergson, the man who sheltered, protected, and raised her since the age of one, was so endearing. Why can’t I have my own squire like Hal, Ryuu, or Sebastian!?! Sigh… But Vivi is a woman with secrets; she’s an enigma wrapped in a mystery. But once again, wait until you find out who she really is! Oh my! Shhh… No spoilers from me. But despite Etain’s golden fae light and Vivi’s vampire nature and dark past, they’re so perfect for each other! Vivi’s story just broke my heart, so this is another two boxes of tissues read! Sigh… So dreamy! And naturally, Meryn ‘the menace’ along with her two newly adopted twin ‘baby Keelans’ and Felix the sprite provide loads of laughter and shenanigans galore! I snickered, snorted, sniffled, snuffled, chuckled, and outright ugly cried through the entire story! This one will really tug on your heartstrings! But just a little warning, folks, don’t start this book unless you have plenty of time; you will not want to stop until you reach the last page. I should know; I’ve spent the last week binge-reading the entire series and falling asleep holding my Kindle every night! lol… Alanea Alder, you’re killing me! If you enjoy perilous danger, intense drama, agonizing angst, pulse-pounding action, nail-biting suspense, side-splitting humor, heartwarming romance, and a few mind-blowing plot twists that you’ll never see coming, then this book is screaming your name. Extraordinary world building, exceptional character introduction/development, along with skilled plot progression make this series a fabulous, can’t-put-down read! Thanks for the recommendation Fran Zoch!
LOVE to the 3rd power!
My Angel by Alanea Alder is a wonderful addition to the Bewitched and Bewildered series. Do not start this book if you have to work the next day. You will not want to stop reading.
If you haven’t read any of this series, you are seriously missing out! I so love Meryn because she is so much like me. Even her sense of humor is just like me. All the characters mesh with each other. I can’t wait for Micah’s story to see how he finds his mate.
Please keep writing this series!!!!
I need Bewitched and Bewildered to live!
