When a yes or no, changes your entire life…..Slater “Savage” HarlowI’ve got almost everything I need to have an amazing comeback year. My knee is good, my dedication is there, my determination never left, but the woman of my dreams? That’s still up in the air.Malone FulcherSavage walked away without so much as listening to what I had to say. We have a decision to make. Is it going to be … decision to make. Is it going to be marriage with late nights, dinners at one am, and stealing moments between road trips? Or will it be spending the rest of our lives alone, wondering why we couldn’t make it work?
Read the stunning conclusion to The MVP Duet.

I hungrily attacked this book, needing to know what happened after the cliffhanger ending of the previous book. And then I devoured it so fast, I had to go back and try again to understand all the implications and details.
Book Two of the MVP Duet takes us through the first year of Slade and Malone’s marriage and baseball season. They’re trying to figure out how to make their life work, together. To say that this is a love conquers all book in baseball format doesn’t cover all of the author’s intricate plot points.
This is a fun book for baseball fans as you get a look at the sacrifices their families make to the game. Malone has to learn to balance her desire to be independent with her husband’s high profile job. Savage has to learn to communicate with Malone to keep their relationship working. Each while maintaining their personal morals, routines, and needs for the better of the team, whether the team be a marriage, sports, or work. I loved all the teamates and friends we were introduced to, as well as the extra plotlines of bullying and kindness.
Chemistry was never a struggle for these two, which is once again true. Their struggle is how to keep the lines of communication going strong before and after the sheets sizzle…because while make up sex is fantastic, arguments are not.
MVP draws you in quickly so you can see if Slade will give Malone a second chance to explain herself. But from there it has some slow points. And despite loving and adoring this author, I wasn’t totally thrilled with the book. When I read, I want an escape from reality. And while, as Malone points out, there is some “book boyfriend level” action going on in MVP, there was a lot of them just needing to find their groove and make life work, which is well, what I do every day with my husband (granted it’s without an Amex black card).
I’m a bit torn on the book. I’m glad there was a happy ending. I loved seeing some of the MTF family (hi Cruise and Menace families!). But this book lacked some of the rough and gritty bits I’ve come to love in so many other Laramie Briscoe books. Don’t get me wrong, I still read this in less than 3 hours and will read more by the author!
“There’s one thing you don’t want to hear from your wife – ever – and that’s the word fine. It’s indicative of an underlying fight waiting to happen.”
“I feel like I’ve been picked up by the tornado in Oz and dropped in the middle of Alabama.”
“Sometimes love isn’t enough ma’am, even though that’s the most tragic thing in the world, it’s the truth.”

First and foremost I will say that I am always looking forward to the next Laramie Briscoe read. I always anticipate the amount of emotions and excitement that she includes on every page.
Unfortunately, I am sorry to say that this novel didnt pack a punch and it didnt hit a homerun for me. I was waiting and yearning for more than what I got. Savage and Malone were sweet and they did have some bumps in their journey, yet it wasn’t as exciting for me to read. It was almost a little boring for me. I will say that I look forward to reading the next amazing page turner that I know Laramie is capable of.
I will also add that if I had the talent that Laramie has in her fingertips then maybe I would publish one of my own novels.
