Chase Dawson is back in Autre for Christmas and when he runs into brainy, beautiful alligator conservationist Bailey Wilcox again, he’s determined to make good use of the mistletoe.Enjoy this fun, sexy holiday story from the Boys of the Bayou series!
I am loving this series by Erin Nicholas. They are so fun and entertaining! I was excited to see Chase again. He needed his story told and I was not disappointed. Well, except that it was so short! I didn’t want it to end so soon. But Chase and Bailey’s story was great! Their first kiss was hilarious. I love these characters.
Michael Gallagher & Bridget Bordeaux are excellent narrators. They brought this story to life with perfect performances!
*I received an ALC of this audiobook and this is my voluntary and honest review.

These two are awesome!! They are rather clumsy when they try to kiss which only makes it better when they finally get to and the chemistry is amazing. This series just gets better with every book and I can’t wait for the next!
This was a quick, entertaining installment of the Boys in the Bayou series. Chase first appears back in book 2 and it would be better to the read the series in order. I appreciated the humor more in this one because I was already familiar with both the main characters from previous books in the series.
I listed to the audiobook. Michael Gallagher and Bridget Bordeaux were both new-to-me narrators and I would listen to both again. I especially liked that they both sounded age-appropriate for the characters.

Must Love Alligators
Boys of the Bayou Book 5
by Erin Nicholas
Narrated by Michael Gallagher & Bridget Bordeaux
I remember when Chase came to the bayou with Juliet and I am so glad his heart is still there! Bailey has been in his thoughts ever since he met her,and now coming to the bayou for Christmas, he is hoping he sees her. Bailey comes when called in for a rabid otter sighting. Will she catch her glimpse of the man that has been on her mind? This is the perfect Christmas story, bringing all the Landry’s together and letting us get to know Bailey and Chase better. Their love story is fun, flirty and has that Erin Nicholas humor that keeps me smiling throughout her books.
Narrated by Michael Gallagher and Brigdet Bourdeaux, the Bayou comes alive. I love these two. They fall into their characters and bring out their personalities perfectly. It’s a pleasure to listen to them!
I listened to the ALC of this book.
Chase Dawson first appeared in the Boys of the Bayou book 2 when he and his friends were banned from the swamp boat tours due to being drunk. He then decided to get revenge by stealing an air boat from them but then realised he didn’t know how to drive one putting him and his friends in danger , Owen and Maddie saved them but the dock was ruined die to the boat crashing. Chase and his sister Juliet made an offer where he came and built the dock to pay them back for causing the damage and that’s where he was adopted into the Landry family and Ellie and Leo taught him how it was to be in a family like the Landrys. When Chase first sees Bailey Wilcox he doesn’t understand his feelings as she’s not his type but he can’t deny the feelings and approaches her to save her from someone she doesn’t seem to want anything to do with . When she tries to kiss Chase things don’t go as planned it’s like a comedy sketch where things snowball and you can’t help but giggle at the outcome , this turns out to be a common occurrence in their relationship. Loved listening to this and seeing how Chase has grown and realises his life before the Landrys really had no meaning and there’s more to life than his shallow friends and getting drunk every night .
I read these when the other ones was coming out. This book was so much fun. This book can be read as a standalone or in the book order. I kinda skipped around. Chase I thought was going to be a snob no fit guy. Boy was I wrong. Once you get to know him he fit in just like family. I was happy to see Bailey. She also fits in with this family. They both have such a funny love story. I think I laughed more then I should have. This book was a great book and it is always fun to visit with the Landry family.
Chase and Bailey’s love story is book 5 (a novella) in this series and was a great edition to the craziness of the Boys of the Bayou and the Landry family. Chase, along with his sister, Juliet, originally came to Autre, Louisiana to help rebuild the boat dock that Chase and his frat brothers destroyed when they stole and crashed an airboat. Juliet believed that Chase needed to be around people who loved their families and their jobs and worked with their hands to avoid Chase becoming like her rich entitled father and brothers. Building the boat dock seemed like a perfect solution. (You can read Juliet’s story in Beauty and the Bayou) Chase learned to love the Bayou and Autre while he was there repairing the damage he caused before leaving to go to medical school in Virginia. When Chase was originally in Autre he also met Bailey, who works with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and they had an awkward, clumsy almost kiss along with an accidentally grope. Each of them mistakenly believing that the other quickly regretted and forgot about the awkward moment. This novella begins when Chase returns to Autre to visit the Landrys for Christmas while also hoping to run into Bailey since he has definitely not forgotten about her. On the way to their HEA, there are many, many more hilarious accidents, the usual cast of crazy critters, crazy Cajuns, and over the top situations. Like all the books in this wonderful series, this holiday novella has all the feels, all the characters are wonderfully developed, the main story line is rich in content, and the small town is a beautiful place to imagine living. Erin Nicholas once again proves she’s a fantastic storyteller and the queen at bringing to life imaginary towns full of wonderful characters.
What a fantastic addition to this series!
Chase and Bailey’s first encounter was not a great first impression maker, but it seems that all of their encounters are physically challenging in a funny, possibly awkward way. Now, Chase is in charge of keeping Bailey, who works for wildlife and gaming, busy while the rest of the crazy cajun’s corral o bunch of otters. Chase had no idea Bailey was attracted to him, he just didn’t want to make a fool of himself in front of her again. After spending time together they realize their attraction is mutual and it seems that the ‘ Landry magic’ for falling in love is rubbing off on them both.
This novella was fast, fun, flirty and fabulous!! All the charm and family hijinks we’ve come to love and expect from this series and this author is back in full force as we head back to the bayou for a bit holiday romance. Chase and Bailey are totally lovable and their escape will give plenty of chuckles, feels and swoon.
So much adorable klutzing! Happy Reading!
Everyone should have otters to cuddle for Christmas. And gators. And the Landrys. Ok, just where can one sign up to spend Christmas in the Bayou?
If you already know the Landry group you cannot miss on this sweet and quirky and adorable Christmas novella which features our favourite reformed stupid college kid, aka Chase, and the nerdy and brainy conservationist who scared all of us when she came to check on “rabid otter” Gus, aka Bailey. Their accident-just-waiting-to-happen lovestory is to die for and you can check in with all the other characters while waiting for book #6 featuring Mitch and special guest from the Hot Cakes Series Paige!
I absolutely adore Bailey! In fact, she may be my favorite character of the whole crazy Boys of the Bayou bunch. And Chase is darling! It’s great to see that Juliet’s plan worked and he is turning out pretty good afterall. The two of them finally getting together is just delightful!
I was rather annoyed by the myriad of times it was mentioned that these two were not each others’ usual type. (Okay, we get it already!) And the telling of their story was a bit disjointed. (Which was likely due to the fact that it started out as a short entry in the Holiday Ever After anthology, and was later expanded with a prequel scene and an epilogue.)
But overall it was a quick, fun, hot, romantic, enjoyable, holiday read! I definitely recommend this book and the entire series for anyone looking for a good ol’ romance down on the Louisiana bayou!
I love Chase and Bailey, since their first meeting they have accidentally hurt each other. It’s a fun read, it’s funny and sexy. I really enjoyed reading it!
Sweet and Hot
Delightful novella set in the crazy, fun area of Autre, Louisiana and Cajun territory. Chase Dawson and Bailey Wilcox come from divergent pasts. He’s a rich boy, learning to be a man; and, is a med student. She’s a middle class, hard-working scientist working in the Bayou to protect the wildlife, coast and, especially, alligators. They have an awkward but amazing relationship that starts when they first meet and only gets better. Add in the eccentric, boisterous but loving Landry clan of the Boys of the Bayou and you get a world anyone would want to be a part of, anytime.
MUST LOVE ALLIGATORS by Erin Nicholas
Must Love Alligators by Erin Nicholas is a not-to-be missed trip to Autre in the Louisiana bayou. Fans of the Boys of the Bayou series have the chance to catch up with Ellie and Leo and the gang, while new readers get to dip their toes in the warm and welcoming bayou waters, which yes, do contain alligators among other delights!
Chase Dawson and Bailey Wilcox met in passing in Autre. In Sweet Home Louisiana and Beauty and the Bayou, Chase’s sister Juliet hauls Chase to Autre to atone for the damage he wreaked on an ill-advised air boat incident. The Landrys being the “crazy, loud, over-the-top” family they are, immediately adopt fish-out-of-water Chase–yacht and all–and though he heads back to med school, his heart’s in Autre. In more ways than one. Though he’s thousands of miles away, he can’t get Bailey out of his mind.
Bailey works for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and hey, she knows when something’s fishy. When she’s called out to Boys of the Bayou to follow up on a guest’s concern about rabid otters, she knows perfectly well that the otters are fine. But she couldn’t pass up a perfectly good opportunity to potentially catch a glimpse of Chase. As a scientist, she knows full well that her reaction to him is irrational, but for some reason, she can’t stop thinking about him.
Must Love Alligators is everything you want in a holiday novella–flirty fun with family and food and other…festivities 😉 Full of heart and joy and sweet heat, Erin Nicholas’s story about two smart people who get a little stupid around each other is a five-star read! Short in length but not in content, characters, or charm, Must Love Alligators is a Christmas must-read!
This extended version of Must Love Alligators gives us more of Bailey and Chase (and the Landrys and Autre) to love–the added scenes give us a richer picture of their connection, or missed connections, as the case may be. And any extra time with Ms Nicholas’s characters and settings is a pleasure to be savored, slowly. Absolutely worth every word!
Chase and Bailey are a fantastic pair. I read about them in the earlier released short story which was a part of the Holiday Ever After anthology and loved them. Now, in this longer edition of their story, they are just a fabulous. Erin Nicholas has once again created a story that is realistic with characters the are fun, lovable and relatable. I really enjoy her books and this one is no different. I can’t wait to see what she brings us next. Well done to the author!
Chase Dawson and the Boys of the Bayou know they have to keep Bailey Wilcox from getting too close a look at what’s going on down in the Bayou. Bailey’s a conservationist and, while they know how to take care of their Louisiana territory, they don’t exactly do it the government’s way and every good bayou boy knows the best distraction is a little romance.
Must Love Alligators has plenty of romance … and hot guys … and Christmas cheer.
I loved the way Nicholas paints Louisiana and it’s denizens with a generous splash of humor and a genuine love of the slow and generous lifestyle. The Bayou boys are more fun than an family of otters and I couldn’t help falling in love with Bailey and Chase.
What a delightful read! This is a Christmas novella in Erin Nicholas’ Boys of the Bayou series. The hero, Chase Dawson and heroine, Bailey Wilcox managed to develop a relationship and fall in love without breaking any bones or too many bruises. Their early encounters made me laugh out loud as I was reading. This is fun read!
