A story that pulled at the heart. Murphy Kavanagh returned from the war and was anxious to get back to his wife and start living. But what he finds is that his wife has died and her father is left there in the home. Devastated, he’d never told his family he had married before going off to war and he just mourned her in silence. When he was eventually called to come to see a lawyer due to his father in law having passed away, in came Brooke. Brooke was alive!!
This is a story of lies, deception, heartbreak but also a renewal of love and as always a wonderful story that only Katherine Ball can write.
Sweetly thrilling, sexy fun and action packed journey filled with engaging and interesting charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and emotionally thrilling turns. Great read from beginning to end.
After being separated for years by deception, can Murphy and Brooke become a family again? Only their faith in God and forgiveness can reunite them, and it is a struggle made more difficult and humorous by Murphy’s brother.

The author has penned a very heart wrenching and heart warming story; one that will stay with you long after you have finished reading it. This is Murphy, one of the Kavanagh Brothers, and Brooke’s story. It is a story of love, loss brought about by deception and lies, surprises, forgiveness, and second chances. You will need to read the story to find our what the surprises were and if Murphy and Brooke are ever able to put all of the deception and lies behind them to find a HEA. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. Grab a comfy chair and some tissue and be prepared to keep reading until you have finished the book. You are gonna’ love it.
He’s home from the Civil War to find out that his wife had passed while he was gone, and she thinks he deserted her. This is the heartbreakingly beautiful story of Murphy and Brooke and my heart broke for these two from the start. Once they find out what the other was told they go on an emotional rollercoaster about forgiveness and the love that they still feel for each other. I absolutely loved this book. Murphy and Brooke’s story pulled at my heartstrings and had me cheering them on to get the HEA they both deserved. Great writing and believable characters make this a definite must read.

A lie that separated two people. A lie that separated a father from his son.
When he receives news that the father of his deceased wife has died and he has to go to put his legal affairs in order, what he least expected is to see his (deceased) wife again.
She cannot believe that the person who abandoned her, or at least that is what she believed, was there present willing to strip her of the property that she had tried to save to leave her son.
Murphy discovers that he has a son and is willing to win the love of his wife again and get to know his son better.

Murphy married Brooke the love of his life and then the Civil War happened. When he returns her father tells him that she died and even showed him a marker under a tree where she was buried. Years later back at his family farm he gets a telegram telling him her father passed away and he now owns his farm. At the lawyers office he is shocked when Brooke walks in as much as she is shocked. Come to find out her father wanted to keep them apart and but she thinks Murphy never came back for her and their son that he never knew he had. Loved this sweet romance and how their lives were changed by her father’s wrong doing but now they have a chance to have the life they always wanted.
I always enjoy reading about the Kavanagh brothers and this book didn’t disappoint. I loved Murphy and Brooke’s story and MJ. These two had a lot to work through to get to their happy ending.
After 8 yearso going to see a lawyer for his father in laws death, Murphy is shocked when in walks his dead wife.
This is a tale of lies and misinformation, that has kept Murphy from his wife for far too long. Can he convince her that he believed her dead and have a second chance with the only woman he could ever love?

War was hell, but it turned into double hell when Murphy Kavanagh returned after the war to claim his wife, Brooke only to have her father tell Murphy she was dead. Now the father has passed, and Murphy has been contacted as the owner of the property. It has been eight long years, and he was still mourning the loss of Brooke. The trip back from Texas has been hard, but when he gets to the attorney ‘s office it only gets harder as he discovers the woman he thought was dead has in fact been a live all these years, and she thought he deserted her. Her father had lied to both of them. Unfortunately, for Murphy that was only half the story, when he camped on the hill near the house that night a young boy ran from the house to the barn. That was when Murphy discovered, he had a son. Murphy was not leaving before he found out about the boy. He for sure was not leaving now. None of the other Kavanagh Brothers knew that Murphy had married, while he was away during the war, wanting only to mourn in private. Now he needed to figure out how to make everything right for everyone. He loved Brooke and his son and he knew they wanted to stay where they lived. He needed to make it work. First, he had to get Brooke to trust him. A book of faith and love as Murphy and Brooke through prayer, trail and tribulation attempt to rebuild their lives after eight long years. This was a gem of a story.
