Murder With a Psychic Zap (A Wonder Springs Cozy Mystery Book 2) by Bill Alive is an awesome story that I loved reading. This is book number two in this awesome series and I can not wait for book number three. I highly recommend this story to all.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Bill Alive did it again.
He keeps us guessing all the time. Summer Sassafras is such a lovely and relatable character. I wonder if she’ll ever learn to control her gift enough to be able to hug someone. There’s never a dull moment in Bill Alive’s books and that my friends is a truly wonderful thing.
An older woman, Una is found dead in her home and Summer’s boyfriend Cade of whom she has only known for a couple of months is arrested for her murder. Una owns this big orchard and Cade works for her in the orchard and his life dream is to own an orchard one day.
But is Cade the only person in town who might want Una dead? Why would anyone want to hurt an old lady? Is Cade the murder?
Summer ask herself this same question on more than one occasion. While she is not so sure as he does have a motive she can’t believe that sweet little old Cade could harm anyone.
With all the evidence piling up against Cade Summer is still determined to prove his innocence. As she starts to look into the case other suspects start to pop up. It seems that there just might be more going on in little old Wonder Springs than meets the eye. For a small town where everybody seems to know everything about everybody there seems to be a whole lot of secrets floating around.
I love worlds where people have special abilities and powers and the more I read and the deeper I got into Murder with a Psychic Zap the more people with secret abilities were revealed.
As I was reading Murder with a Psychic Zap I could see the whole town in my mind like when I saw Una’s house and orchard I saw a big white house with white trellis and arches with flowers flowing over them in the front and with the orchard maybe a little ways off in the back of the house and you could just barely see the top of it from the backyard and I could just picture a white picket fence surrounding the property. I could see Cade, Summer and Una standing there on the sidewalk in front of the house with a nice summer breeze blowing there way.
Murder with a Psychic Zap is one of those novels that you could read snuggled up on the sofa in one of those snuggie blankets and a nice little fire in the fire place and a cup of hot chocolate if you are into that kind of thing that is.
Murder with a Psychic Zap is a nice little cozy mystery with a nice little list of suspects with motive that helps to keep you guessing as to whodunit. Just when you think you have it all figured out and you are like I know who did it then you are slammed with more secrets as they are revealed and you are back to who did it?
Murder with a Psychic Zap will keep you on your toes with all the secrets and suspense not to mention the twists and turns that will have your heading swimming right up until the end when all is revealed surprisingly or well it was to me.
I highly recommend Murder with a Psychic Zap to all mystery and murder fans.
Summer and Cade have gotten their relationship off the ground, but there’s one major block: his possessive boss, Una Graves. Not only does she own the orchard he tends, but insists he live with her rent-free (in a separate room, of course) and devote his off hours to her. In their short time dating, Cade has canceled numerous times to keep Una happy.
Force of nature that she is, Summer insists on an introduction and is walking with Cade toward the house one evening when Una appears out of nowhere, demanding to know what a stranger is doing on her property and threatening to have Summer arrested. Cade talks her out of calling the sheriff (who’s also his dad, Jake), but Una’s displeasure remains hot. And when Cade finally defies Una and takes Summer to Classic Movie Night, he returns home to find Una dead, asphyxiated by a gas leak from the kitchen stove and an empty bottle of wine nearby.
Summer’s “quasi-boyfriend” is the immediate suspect, and matters grow more serious when lawyer Ambrose James reveals Una very recently changed her longstanding will, which left the orchard and her money to Cade, to dispensing her fortune equally between her dramatic cousin, Paris, and sexpot niece Jamie, who has clear designs on Cade.
Knowing Cade didn’t kill Una, Summer and Tina devote themselves to finding the real murderer, struggling to determine the intentions of other interested parties. Summer also attempts to teach a sales class to a few Wonder Springs shopkeepers, which bellyflops when they’re appalled by Philadelphia prices.
Matters are ominous for Cade, but when deaths continue while he’s behind bars, Jake initiates a more extensive investigation. What they find is both surprising and blood-curdling, which creates an entirely new grab bag of trouble for the shifter sheriff and the girl with the zap.
B.T. Alive’s second Summer Sassafras mystery is full of humor, mystery, anger, astonishment, and breakthroughs. Even the menacing appearance of Uncle Enoch, who was last seen burning down Summer’s apartment building in Philadelphia, can’t dispel the joy of new romance … old romance … and the security of love, family, and the little town of Wonder Springs, Virginia.
This series is great fun, set in a town where most of the residents are not what they seem, in that they possess paranormal abilities, ranging from shifters to psychics to empaths etc. All of these characters are well written and developed.
Although there is a murder (not really surprising given the title) there is also a lot of humour and some very funny situations, but this is backed up by a well written mystery, with a quite surprising ending.
For me , the book does have one minor flaw, in that it dives straight in to the story, without any sort of recap of book one or of the fact that it is set in a semi-paranormal town, so anyone who hasn’t read the first book could well be completely confused.
Apart from that one issue though, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, and am really looking forward to the next in the series.
Like everything else by Bill Alive, this is a fun story! All the characters are distinct and original (my favorite is the telepathic parrot). My main complaint with the book is that the main character steals $200 at one point, gets away with it, and never regrets what she did. Otherwise, it’s a great story. I don’t usually read mysteries, but I make an exception for anything by this author – they’re good enough to be worth it, even though it normally isn’t my favorite genre. Looking forward to the next one now!
Mr Wilson has a prophecy of death. Summer Sassafras has a psychic zap that if she touches someone, they will forget what just happened. She can also render them unconscious for a short time. Her boyfriend, Cade, lives in a house with Una, who also owns an orchard. Una is found dead and Cade is the primary suspect. Summer helps to try to find the real killer. This novel is very enjoyable to read.
Murder with a Psychic Zap by B.T. Alive is a wonderful addition to the cozy Wonder Springs Mystery series. Get ready murder, mystery and magic with a mixture of characters that will keep you coming back for more. Bill Alive’s new cozy series creates an environment filled with magic, mystery, mayhem, and a touch of love.
Summer seems to be adjusting to her new life with powers. She’s excited to learn she may be able to control her touch, eventually, with training. But before she can share the news with her boyfriend there is another murder and all clues point to Cade. Summer is sure someone is framing him for the murder. Enlisting the help of her bestie Tina, she needs to find the real murderer before Cade is lost to her.
This book is filled with interesting, quirky characters and held my interest throughout. My only issue is that Summer appears to be flighty and clueless about how to treat people. More of a barge right in, step on toes and ask for forgiveness after person. Hopefully, this will change as she grows into her power.
I look forward to reading the next story in the series. I did receive an advance copy from the author, and this is my honest review of this book. I’d recommended this 4-star cozy for fans of mystery, paranormal adventure, or just fun stories.
Zaps, shifters and murder. Summer learns more about the town and the residents of Wonder Springs while also learning about her special talent.
Warning: Pay attention or miss a clue. The clues are all there but easy to gloss over. It happened to me. I missed the who done it and another major one till the end.
Way to go Grandma!!!!
Summer is till learning to deal with her touch issues. Her ‘boyfriend is accused of the murder. Guess what, Summer is not sure but needs to find answers. Really her boyfriend? (her thoughts). A mysterious ‘premonition” too.Tina and Keegan help along the way too.. I hope the sheriff learns his lesson and does what he needs to do. What more do you need to read this book.
This is an enjoyable and easy to read book. Don’t worry if you missed the first one, I think you can follow this one just fine.
What I missed was more of the family dynamic and the different abilities in this world. The town has no ability people and ability people. I am so confused as to what is ability , does it pass down the line, and no one has mentioned how much Summer looks like her and what happened. I need answers!!!!!!
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
