Jo Ravens is thirty-two, divorced, and stuck in a rut. She wants two things in life — a new career as a private investigator and to lose the sixty pounds she packed on after her divorce.
When she crashes her nephew’s bike in a construction site, she lands on a girl with a large knife in her chest. Jo enlists her sister Pepper and journalist friend Jackie to help solve the girl’s murder. Things … murder. Things become creepy for Jo when the girl appears to her in dreams and offers unusual clues to her death.
Murder Under Construction is a humorous mystery with Jo’s family adding to the antics of the three women. Mama caterwauls, Jackie’s two children offer sleuthing assistance, and her brother Hank laughs at all of them from the sidelines.

I loved this book, it wasn’t predictable! The writing was fast paced and the three main characters were hilarious together. If you have a sister, this book is for you!

Great read for tweens and teens.
Really enjoyed this book. Looking forward to the next one in the series.
Not one of my favorite Cozy Mysteries. Story line is okay but writing doesn’t flow nicely. There are people who can be overweight and still look beautiful but poor character development left me feeling that Jo was a gross overweight person. Very easy to read and very enjoyable.
It was s fun read and I enjoyed the fact that the characters continue into her subsequent books.
Light book. Nothing outstanding, but pleasant. I did like that the MC didn’t have distracting angst, too much self-doubt, she was down to earth and like someone you might have next door.
Not bad, not too original.
Good plot, but spoiled by distasteful bathroom jokes.
great to have a heroine who isn’t model material
This is a great book. The main character Jo Ravens is not your typical heroine. She’s not perfect or perky. She’s overweight often cranky and has been dismissed for a younger model by her ambitious ex-husband. Through the course of the book she finds out that she’s smart capable and more attractive than she realizes when a younger man starts …
Kept reading. Didn’t want to put it down.
Who can’t sympathize with the heroine? Interesting story line.
This book was just fun to read. You didn’t know what was going to happen next and I found myself laughing at some of the problems.
I didn’t find this book enjoyable. I put it away and then deleted it from my collection.
