This was an easy audiobook to listen to on these winter days. The story is about Pamela Patterson who is a widow and has been keeping busy as an associate editor of a craft magazine and founder of the Knit and Nibble knitting club in Arborville, New Jersey.
Pamela recruits Amy Morgan, an old friend who recently moved to town, as the group’s newest member. But on the night of the gathering, Amy doesn’t show. Not until Pamela finds the woman dead outside with a knitting needle stabbed through the front of her handmade sweater.
Pamela starts asking question about the murder and notices that the murderer took off with Amy’s knitting bag, and Pamela realizes that only she can spot the deadly details hidden in mysterious skeins.
Pamela and Bettina her best friend, belong to a group of knitters. They meet every week in the house of one of the members of the group and have a couple of hours of knitting and dessert. All has been great until the newest member turn up dead at Pamela’s front yard. The police have no clues and won’t like when Pamela find different things that may aid them on their investigations. With the holidays at hand, Pamela’s daughter comes for a visit and she loves the new doctors daughters. Pamela, a widow, doesn’t feel ready for a love interest but who knows since all seems to want her and the new doctor to connect, but she knows better for he is in the suspect list.
Murder she Knit is a great cozy murder mystery that not only has dead bodies but a bunch of stuff about knitting. It is a great reading for anyone who loves murder mysteries and a clean good fun. The characters that form the knitting group are fun and well develop. They keep the reading light and real.
Murder She Knit is a solid first in a delightful new cozy mystery series with its own unique pattern for knitting, kittens, and mystery. The characters are well-rounded and very likable and the mystery is complex enough to have kept this reader guessing well into the night.
Pamela works at home as an editor for the magazine, Fiber Craft, and has been widowed for about five years. She is the founder of Knit and Nibbles, a group that meets weekly to enjoy friendship, knitting, crocheting, and nibbling snacks from the host of the week. Pamela’s best friend, Bettina, crochets. Roland is the only guy, a corporate attorney advised by his doctor to take up a hobby so he could relax. Other members include Nell, who knits small animals for children at the women’s shelter, Jean, who with her husband live in the “second grandest” home in Arborville, NJ, and Karen, whose husband teaches at the nearby college.
While out shopping, Pamela runs into a friend she hasn’t seen for several years. Amy has just moved down the street; she had worked in the firm where Pamela’s late husband was an architect. Amy now heads the School of Professional Arts at Wendelstaff College. Pamela invites her to Knit and Nibbles that she is hosting at her home this week.
The group came and went, but Amy didn’t arrive. Pamela looked in her yard for the food dish of Catrina, a stray kitten she has been feeding. Spotting something, she goes to get the dish, but to her horror, she finds a body partially in her hedge. Amy did make it to Pamela’s, but was murdered – with a knitting needle – in her yard.
Pamela wants to find who murdered her friend. The apartments where Amy lived is on her regular walking “route” where she finds treasures for her home amid the stuff renters leave behind. Several days into asking questions about Amy or that evening, she finds much more than she is looking for. When Pamela’s daughter, Penny, comes home for Thanksgiving, she greets a very hands-off kitten running by for meals, a mother who is looking for a killer, and a good-looking new neighbor that might be perfect for her mother.
Pamela is a fascinating person, creative, supportive, and inquisitive. I enjoyed watching her and Bettina drive to Brooklyn or other parts of the City on adventures where they find fun things, such as the yarn Amy had used. Bettina is witty and knowledgeable; as a contributor to the weekly Arborville Advocate, she knows much about their town. Dorrie, Amy’s sister, is a very strange young woman. Knitters in the group each contribute to the whole; they have talents and ideas beyond the obvious, including those willing to try knitting elephant toys.
I really liked this cozy! I liked was how tentatively Pamela feeds and spends time with Catrina that is very realistic. As is the variety of likable characters in the knitting group. The plot includes enough twists to keep the list of suspects vibrant, including Amy’s colleagues and students at Wendelstaff. One of the things I liked best about this mystery is that I couldn’t figure out whodunit! I followed a few red herrings, but simply get it right. The resolution was a complete surprise, and the end satisfying. I am looking for the next one in the series, and highly recommend this series debut.
From a grateful heart: I received a copy of this from the publisher and NetGalley, and here is my honest review.
This book was a good solid read. I’d totally try another future book by this author!

Pamela Paterson belongs to Knit and Nibble knitting club. When she invites an old friend to join them, she is surprised when she is a no-show. As everyone is leaving, however, her old friend is found under the bushes with a knitting needle in her chest. Pamela is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery of who killed her friend.
I liked this book. I liked the characters and the town. I liked the setting near NYC. I did find it a bit hard to keep my attention on the book. I don’t know why but it was easy to get distracted while listening. I was taken completely by surprise at the end by the reveal, which was good. I just wish that my attention was held by the book. I’m going to be continuing the series and hopefully as I get to know the characters, I’ll have more invested in the stories.
I got this book on Chirp on a whim. Hey, I love cozy mysteries (of course) and knitting, so I thought it would be fun, and it was. The mystery kept me guessing. There were enough red herrings to throw me off the scent of the murderer. The characters were well drawn and their motivations easy to understand. The knitting group cracked me up. They were a fun bunch. I think I’ll get more in this series!
Fun read for a knitter
This is a great Cozy Mystery! I needed something entertaining, simple and light and this was perfect.
I enjoyed this book and the characters. Have just started the second one in the series.
Good story with some mystery thrown in. Good unexpected twist at the end!

I thoroughly enjoy Peggy Ehrhart’s books, and this one lives up to expectations!
I wanted an easy, fun read and this fit the bill. It was well drafted and just the light, easy read I was looking for.
Good knitting mystery!
whodunit, cozy-mystery, friendship, murder-investigation, amateur-sleuth
The old friend/new to town never made it to the knitting social at Pamela’s home, she got as far as the yard and was murdered with a knitting needle to the heart. Let the sleuthing begin as the local detectives pooh poohed any possible clues that the knitters come up with. Good, interesting characters and an interesting plot complete with misdirection, twists, and red herrings. A good read.
Callie Beaulieu is the narrator.
Pamela Paterson is a widow living in the idyllic town of Arborville, New Jersey. Her daughter is away at college, and Pamela keeps busy working as an editor for a craft magazine. She is the founder of a local knitting club called Knit and Nibble. Members meet once a week at one another’s homes for knitting and dessert.
While preparing to host the group, Pamela makes a run to the local market to buy apples for her dessert. She runs into an old friend, Amy Morgan, and invites her to join the group. Amy has recently moved to town and the two look forward to rekindling their friendship. The night of the meeting the members show up one by one. Amy doesn’t arrive and Pamela assumes something has held her up. Sadly, while looking around her yard for a cat dish Pamela discovers Amy’s lifeless body in the hedges with a knitting needle stabbed through her chest.
This leads Pamela on a search for the murderer. She feels the police are not asking the right questions and she recruits her neighbor and friend Bettina to join her in the investigation.
This is the first book in the Knit and Nibble series. I enjoyed it very much and recommend it. I was drawn to the book by its cute cover and the knitting theme. The plot kept me engaged and I didn’t want to put the book down. The characters are developed nicely with a few surprises along the way. As soon as I finished I wanted to order the next book.
I loved the characters and their interaction with each other. The guilty person didn’t even cross my mind. Wonderful surprise ending. Being a knitter and having been to knit groups the author did a great job with the knit group sections. Can’t wait for her next book to come out in a couple of weeks.
Very good with surprising ending.
Great beginning of a new series! Can’t wait for the next one!
Great, good characters some tension and a good ending
