Researching for the Ginger Gold Mysteries has been so much fun. I hope you sense that as you read. Ginger Gold is smart, savvy, and delightful. The fashions, the dances, the CRIME. The character of Haley Higgins, a medical student at the London Medical School for Women allows me to further delve into another keen interest of mine: forensics. Never fear, the Ginger Gold Mysteries are COZY, so no scary, graphic on-stage violence. You’ll find these books to be clean reads, with no swearing or sex. I hope you enjoy the Ginger Gold Mystery series!

Some mysteries are deadly serious, while others are humorous. Ginger Gold as a detective is unique: classy, sophisticated, laid back. And a fun read! With her casual approach, the only real question is “What should she wear to the next luncheon?”
Murder on the SS Rosa by Lee Strauss was a quickly paced historical cozy that caught my attention of the first chapter. I liked Ginger Gold and her friend Haley Higgins. Although from two different worlds, they obviously care about each other. I enjoyed the way Ms. Strauss slowly dropped hints about how much more there was to Ginger other than a rich widow who only care about clothes. I’m intrigued and definitely want to know more about Ginger’s role during WWI. She has a huge heart; and I got a kick out of seeing her help several others on the ship while still sleuthing. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.
I received this book for free. I am voluntarily leaving this review and all opinions expressed herein are mine.
This is an enjoyable cozy mystery set in 1923 on a ship. Ginger Gold is traveling to the UK to settle her father’s estate with her friend Haley Higgins. During the voyage, the captain of the ship is murdered. Ginger and Haley start to investigate, with the help of a passenger who is a detective for Scotland Yard.
This story completely captures the time period – from the flappers, to fashion styles, to intermingling of classes to women asserting their rights. I liked Ginger from the start and it’s wonderful how Ginger relies on Haley’s medical skills/observances to help her solve the mystery. There are plenty of clues and a couple of twists to keep you guessing. All around fun.
I listened to this book – I really enjoyed the narrator and her enthusiasm for telling the story made it more enjoyable.
I listened to this through Authors Direct. I was delightfully entertained. This was reminiscent of Agatha Christie’ s writing with flair. Ginger Gold is a delight. Her style and sleuthing skills were interesting.
This was a very entertaining read. One of those books I could not put down.
First one of Lee Strauss’ books I’ve read and am already hooked. You will love the characters and plot twists.
Once you got into it, it was a good read.
Amusing
This was a quick 1920’s whodunit mystery aboard the SS Rosa as it headed from the USA to London. It was a book I was able to finish in one sitting, and it was rather predictable. The main character is obsessed with fashion, and so there was a lot of descriptions about who was wearing what, etc. To me, that just didn’t add much to the book, and I could have done without those details, but some people might enjoy those delicious descriptions. I didn’t enjoy it enough to read any further in the series.
Too slow for me
Loved this 1st book in the Ginger ahold series. Interesting characters and a touch of romance. Have read entire series!
What a fun start for a series with a MC whose decorative appearance conceals a strong, smart and thoughtful character.
Although it was my pleasure to receive this free book from the author, it was completely my choice to share my honest review.
Another fun Ginger gold mystery.
An enjoyable beginning to a series that kept me entertained for several days. The stories are fun and the characters charming without being too sappy. The mysteries are plausible and while I may have figured out who did it, I enjoyed watching the heroine solve the puzzle.
Definitely light reading. Perhaps a little too light for me.
A quick read setting up the Ginger Gold adventures to follow in London.
Great read. Difficult to predict!! Live that on a book!
Not interesting or surprising.
A fun quick read.
I enjoy the Ginger Gold books. Just when you think you have it figured out, you find out you don’t. Good descriptions of living in the era depicted and the people.
